Abstract:Resumo Conscientes de la problemática relacionada con la motivación en el estudio de las carreras científicas, presentamos dos experiencias en las cuales se expone a estudiantes universitarios a ambientes, metodologías y técnicas del descubrimiento abordando problemas contemporáneos. Estas experiencias se desarrollaron en dos contextos complementarios: un curso de Introducción a la Física, en el cual se motiva a estudiantes de Física a la participación temprana en investigación, y un semillero de investigación multidisciplinario para estudiantes avanzados de pregrado en Ciencias e Ingeniería, el cual produjo incluso contribuciones a eventos internacionales. Si bien los resultados son preliminares y requieren más ediciones para ser estadísticamente significativos, consideramos que son alentadores. En ambos entornos se observó un aumento de la motivación de los estudiantes para continuar sus carreras haciendo énfasis en la investigación. En este trabajo, además de presentar el marco contextual en el cual se soportan las experiencias, describimos seis actividades concretas para vincular a los estudiantes con los ambientes de descubrimiento, las cuales creemos pueden ser replicadas en ambientes similares de otras instituciones educativas.

Abstract:This collaborative research delves into intercultural (in)justice, dignity, and the recognition of non-hegemonic knowledge. Its main objective is to investigate marginalised knowledge in immigration, gender violence, adultism, and minority groups, including indigenous communities. By diving into the significance of informal knowledge-sharing settings this research underscores how vulnerable individuals and collectives showcase their identity holistically. Lastly drawing attention to the importance of fostering safe spaces, interculturality and sharing cognitive practice to counter marginalisation, promoting reconstruction through tools such as hospitality, active listening, and assertive communication. Esta investigación colaborativa profundiza en la (in)justicia intercultural, la dignidad y el reconocimiento del conocimiento no hegemónico. Su principal objetivo es investigar el conocimiento marginado en la inmigración, la violencia de género, el adultismo y los grupos minoritarios, incluidas las comunidades indígenas. Al profundizar en la importancia de los entornos informales de intercambio de conocimientos, esta investigación subraya cómo los individuos y colectivos vulnerables muestran su identidad de forma holística. Por último, llama la atención sobre la importancia de fomentar espacios seguros, la interculturalidad y el intercambio de prácticas cognitivas para contrarrestar la marginación, promoviendo la reconstrucción a través de herramientas como la hospitalidad, la escucha activa y la comunicación asertiva.

Abstract:In the present work, the effects of urban morphology on the external microclimatic conditions and its incidence on the thermal comfort level were determined in one of the most important low-income settlements in Guayaquil, Ecuador. For this purpose, one sector of the Socio Vivienda II urbanization were morphologically characterized. The virtual modeling of the physical environment of the urbanization was carried out through simulation programs, in order to obtain microclimatic data at different times of the year and hours of the day. Data were obtained as temperature, relative humidity, wind direction and sky view factor. Variables were taken into consideration: solar orientation, distances between buildings, building heights, among others. The comfort conditions of the thermal environment were quantified in terms of the Physiological Equivalent Temperature index (PET), calculated through the RayMan model, which made it possible to identify relationships between the climatic and morphological variables of the urban configuration.

Abstract:The research hotbeds have been treated as a pedagogical strategy by means of which the traditional teaching-learning model can be transformed into a model that allows students to build their own knowledge from the discovery that the formative research processes allow Accompanied by the teacher as a facilitator. This premise is applicable to training in elementary and middle schools, so this work proposes a strategy for the creation and management of research seedbeds through the case study of the Reina de la Paz School in Floridablanca Colombia. To carry out this project, we worked on a pilot level with elementary and high school students from the school, who developed, based on the scientific method, specific projects in the environmental area guided by teachers from the areas of Technology and Natural Sciences. Qualitative information gathering techniques were used both with students and with teachers and school administrators and it was possible to propose concrete strategies that are articulated with its pedagogical model and allow the consolidation of research seedbeds that contribute to the integral development of the student.

Abstract:This study investigates the satisfaction and adequacy of citizens through the expected quality and perceived quality in the areas of planning and territorial viability, experience in the provision of municipal services and citizen experience in environmental issues, in order to provide tools for territorial decision making for the citizens' well-being. In our research PLS software is used for the analysis of hypotheses. A questionnaire was delivered to a sample of 521 citizens, representing the spectrum of the population, and the statistical study of the responses yielded results on citizen satisfaction and loyalty. Our research includes the study of moderating effects on the causal ratio of perceived value and satisfaction in territorial planning and viability, the perceived quality in the provision of municipal services and the perceived quality in the citizen experience in the environmental management of the territory on the value relationship perceived by the citizen and general satisfaction. A second objective of the study is to see if there are significant differences in the hypotheses raised by gender by performing a multigroup analysis. This difference has been appreciated in two of the hypotheses. The study shows that the policies exercised by the territorial managers of the different areas have a significant influence on the value perceived by citizens, satisfaction and loyalty, which shape their general well-being. Areas for improvement in territorial policies and municipal services such as citizen security, air quality, public lighting and sports services have been identified. Knowing these shortcomings allows politicians to focus their efforts on improving the quality of life in cities.

Abstract:The transition between the urban and the rural in intermediate Andean cities has been consolidated, presenting a close relationship between socioeconomic dynamics and urban configuration. The peripheral neighborhood of San Cayetano, located in the city of Loja in southwestern Ecuador, presents multiple contradictory scenarios. Located on a hillside, the forms of adaptation to the challenging topography are diverse, fragile, and fragmented, especially because they present a dispersed image due to the proximity to the consolidated center. This study analyzes the spatial phenomena that have led to the integration of this neighborhood into the formal city, identifying recurrent spatial configurations that characterize the spatial fragment as a determinant in the configuration of the Andean periphery. To this end, official data are juxtaposed with on-site visits to identify the urban and architectural patterns of the neighborhood that contribute to defining this characteristic fragmentation of today's peripheries. These patterns are then examined through mapping and graphic representation. As a consequence, the resulting urban plots are imposed on sloping land, leaving aside the natural characteristics of the terrain, which causes morphological alterations at the level of the natural, urban, and architectural landscape.

Abstract:El objetivo principal es investigar el impacto que tienen un conjunto de actividades de comunicación de las matemáticas realizadas en espacios públicos de colonias con marginación alta, en el fortalecimiento del tejido social y mejoramiento de la percepción de seguridad. Una plaza de la colonia Chamilpa en Cuernavaca, México es tomada como caso de estudio. Esta colonia se encuentra entre las de mayor marginación de la ciudad. Los resultados proporcionan evidencia empírica para soportar que la comunicación de las matemáticas en espacios públicos aumenta la percepción de seguridad y mejora la cohesión social.

Abstract:Establishing affordable, efficient, accessible, innovative, and multidisciplinary methodologies are key to the creation of modern public policies on cultural heritage. Limited access to large-format paintings is a challenge to restoration scientists seeking to obtain information quickly, in a non-invasive manner, and identify regions of interest. Therefore, we put forward two unique software tools based on multispectral imaging techniques, with the long-term aim of assessing the artist's intentions, creative process, and color palette. This development paves the way for a comprehensive and multidisciplinary understanding of the mysteries encompassed in each pictorial layer, through the study of their physical and chemical characteristics. We conducted the first-ever study on Musas I and II, two large-format paintings by Italian artist Carlo Ferrario, located in the National Theatre of Costa Rica. In this study, we used our novel techniques to chose regions of interest in order to study sample layers; while also assessing the works' state of conservation and possible biodeterioration. We explored the applications of our two versatile software tools, RegionOfInterest and CrystalDistribution, and confirmed paint stratigraphies by means of microscopy and spectroscopy analyses. In a pilot study, we identified the artist's main color palette: zinc white, lead white, chrome yellow, lead read, viridian, along with artificial vermilion and ultramarine pigments. We were able to identify artificial vermilion and ultramarine and distinguish them from the natural pigments using CrystalDistribution to map the average size and diameter of the pigment crystals within the paint layers. This study demonstrated that software-based multidisciplinary imaging techniques are fundamental in establishing preventive and non-invasive methods for historical painting conservation studies and virtual restoration.

Abstract:El presente trabajo sintetiza el desarrollo de la actividad académica inscrita en el Sistema de información académica de la Universidad Nacional y describe la primera experiencia utilizada para la gestión y el control de la producción intelectual de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras. Ello se realizó mediante la creación de una biblioteca electrónica y un repositorio con el propósito de identificar, conservar y preservar la memoria histórica que constituye esa producción académica en las áreas de conocimiento que se han estudiado y las que se estudian actualmente: filosofía, cultura, literatura, traducción, lingüística, bibliotecología, documentación, estudios de género, religión y sociedad, ética, derechos humanos, estudios centroamericanos y latinoamericanos. Esa información no había sido registrada y no se encontraba disponible para su consulta en los acervos documentales en las colecciones de las bibliotecas; además, en su mayoría, estaba dispersa en los escritorios y en las casas de habitación, en estantes de los escritores, en su gran mayoría, en formato impreso; y otra, hasta en los recuerdos personales.

Abstract:Este articulo tiene los objetivos de relacionar la localizacion de los asentamientos originales de esta comunidad indigena panamena con sus claves de parentesco, y enfatizar, con la llegada de los espanoles hasta fines del s. XVII, las relaciones asimetricas hombre-territorio de ambas culturas. La utilizacion de una base documental interdisciplinar, analizada acorde a su tipologia, ha ratificado las coincidencias de su larga permanencia en el istmo y de la diferente relacion con el territorio de ambas culturas, lo que dificulto su reconocimiento mutuo, aun vigente.

Abstract:A descriptive study of population and academic performance carried out by the statistics department of the University of Sciences and Humanities (UCH) concluded that the students of the Electronic Engineering program of the UCH, abandoned the program due to low academic performance in curriculum courses of studies. The study details, that of the total of entrants since 2008, 37% of students finished the program, of which, only 15% of students approved all the courses of the curriculum of studies, without disapproving any course; This indicator generates great concern regarding the achievement of skills and continuity of students in the program. In order to solve this problem, academic strategies were applied to strengthen intrinsic motivation, using the implementation of virtual classrooms, technical visits and seminars by experts. Achieving to date a favorable result in the academic performance and the reduction of students who leave the program.

Abstract:Framed within the Sociocultural theory and following the principles of the action-research approach in the classroom, this work presents final results concerning the connection between the teaching and learning of English through the incorporation of regional culture contents. To do so, a set of contextualized culturally-based classes were carried out in a public elementary school located in a Colombian Caribbean town. The project was developed through three stages named diagnosis, action plan, and evaluation. The results revealed that regional culture provided a contextualized environment to work in the classroom. Students acquired new and better alternatives to learn a foreign language and to recover their culture isolated from the school. It can be stated that the sociocultural approach supports theoretical and methodological principles to acquire a foreign language, enabling the students to progressively reinforce their ability to create and transfer meaningful tasks to other real situations.

Abstract:Con el objetivo de determinar si la Corporación Colegio San Bonifacio de las Lanzas contribuye con la formación ciudadana de los estudiantes del grado 5°, a través de la educación artística y los proyectos artísticos que se imparten en la institución, se realizó un estudio de caso, con un seguimiento al trabajo durante cinco años, lo que permitió evidenciar el modo en que a través de la experiencia de conocimiento corporal, emocional, simbólico y estético, se contribuye a la formación del pensamiento creativo y la expresión artística, a partir de manifestaciones materiales e inmateriales, en contextos interculturales que se expresan a través de los diferentes proyectos que, unidos con el arte, la cultura y el patrimonio están contribuyendo a que los individuos se relacionen con la sociedad, se integren a la comunidad, generen identidad, sentido de pertenencia, se unan por espacios de solidaridad, tolerancia, respeto, generando conciencia de grupo, creando vínculos de afecto y lealtad a su ciudad formada a partir de una historia y tradición cultural particular. Por tal motivo, resulta esencial que se tenga en cuenta que los proyectos de formación ciudadana pueden fortalecerse a través de la educación artística, ya que el arte es una fuente de motivación excepcional para niños, niñas y jóvenes si de propiciar la formación de seres con capacidad crítica, autónomos, sensibles y en condiciones propicias para la sana convivencia se trata.

Abstract:This article presents the artistic process employed by a group of young women in an academic setting at the Central University of Ecuador, as they wrote four documentary plays. These students, belonging to the first generation to have access to a dramaturgy class in a public university in the country, utilized an innovative to develop their proposal. Despite the prevalence of collective playwriting in the region, the students delved deep into the writing process for the stage and studied important references in the field. The resulting plays underwent analysis by proficient readers from the Univèrsitat Politècnica de Valencia, who acknowledged their profound artistic content, unexplored until then within the country. Within this study, a focal point is placed on exploring the concept of creativity among university scholars who belong to marginalized groups. The research highlights the inherent duality present in their cosmovision, aiming to showcase their distinctive perspective and the continuous redefinition of identity and creativity within non‐harmonic societies. By doing so, the article underlines the significance of providing opportunities for young artists from marginalized communities to express themselves and contribute to the artistic landscape of their country. Also, it outlines a constant interrogation over the concept of creativity.

Abstract:Since its inception in ancient Greece, public space has played a key role in the politics and democracy of cities. Its role has been degraded in post-modernity, and reached its deepest crisis in the full maturity of the post-Fordist system (from 1990 onwards). This economic and representation depression, as well as institutional legitimacy, that States are experiencing, have promoted the emergence and resurgence of different social movements that flood cities globally. Here is where the concern of the Frente Urbano Amparo Poch y Gascón collective lies, formed by the authors, to recognize and characterize, from a socio-urban logic, these manifestations and the sustained occupation that public spaces have experienced in different Latin American cities during the last decade. This research, framed within the Virtual Latin American Meeting, Utopías Líquidas, is proposed starting from a mixed methodology of collective mapping, recognizing public spaces, and characterizing their occupation exercised by Latin American social movements, in the dispute to redefine them and regain their political character, and thus value the different Latin American social movements and their struggles, in an act that encourages resistance and solidarity.

Abstract:El estudio presenta un análisis de la evolución de las dinámicas sociales reflejadas en el espacio público correspondiente a las zonas de conservación patrimonial de Latinoamérica y El Caribe. Inicialmente se describe las actividades necesarias y complementarias que se desarrollan en el espacio público y su funcionalidad, realizando una investigación descriptiva con fuentes secundarias de información, identificando todas las zonas de conservación patrimonial de Latinoamérica y el Caribe, eligiendo cuatro centros históricos por su configuración urbana, por su comportamiento a través de la historia, por su similitud temporal después de la colonia en América y por representar un área de extensión entre 200 y 650 hectáreas, analizando los diferentes planes de desarrollo de estas zonas, se identifica que las metodologías adoptadas corresponden a las tradicionales como lo son la Metodología del Marco Lógico. Logrando como resultado un escaso material de apoyo para los profesionales que generan ciudad, siendo necesario la implementación y utilización de las tecnologías emergentes, para desarrollar una trazabilidad a todos y cada uno de los elementos que componen el espacio público y así tener a disposición la información adecuada y en tiempo real para la toma de decisiones, logrando una verdadera sostenibilidad.
