Abstract:Background: Acute respiratory illness coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), linked to the SARS-CoV-2 RNA virus, rst appeared in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The mRNA vaccines by Pzer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson were given emergency approval by international regulatory bodies. The vaccination campaign was started in India against SARS-CoV-2 on 13th January 2021 with the administration of two types of vaccines, namely Covaxin and Covishield. There is not much research done on nding an association between different COVID-19 vaccines and myocarditis or myocardial infarction (MI). Discussion: Adetailed search was performed using the platforms Google Scholar and Pubmed, and we have included case reports, case studies, and systematic reviews in our review. The manuscript aims to explore the correlation between the administration of COVID-19 vaccines and the incidence of cardiovascular symptoms such as myocarditis and MI. We have also taken into consideration the vaccines administered in India and the cardiovascular adverse events associated with them. The review discusses various possible reasons that can lead to the development of myocarditis and MI post-COVID-19 vaccination. The articles studied reveal several cases of myocarditis and MI which develop in the patients receiving mRNA vaccines, Covishield and Covaxin. The vaccines have shown tremendous efcacy against SARS-Cov-2 and as the benets outweigh the risks, it is recommended that everyone should take the vaccines.
