Abstract:Two Italian non-profit organizations (Set and Galea) are working together to realize a center (Cdcs) supported by the town administration of Sesto Fiorentino (a little town not far from Florence, Italy), for the divulgation of the scientific culture in the schools and among people. This is their project: the key idea is to let the non-profit organizations intervent in the public school system by creating cooperative structures in which young scientists can work.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?

The problem that this paper attempts to solve is: How to establish a center in Sesto Fiorentino in the province of Florence, Italy, which can effectively promote scientific culture, in order to meet the local society's demand for and interest in scientific and technological knowledge, and promote citizens' understanding and participation in science.

### Specific problems include:

1. **Lack of effective scientific culture dissemination channels**:
- Currently, in Sesto Fiorentino, there is no significant scientific culture operator that can have conversations and interactions with the municipal government, enterprises, schools, and universities.

2. **Insufficient integration of the education system and external resources**:

3. **Opportunities and challenges brought by the relocation of university science departments**:
- The university science departments that are about to be relocated to Sesto Fiorentino bring about a shift in the focus of culture and research. However, at present, the university environment has a low awareness of the city, and the local society has not fully realized this opportunity for communication.

4. **Improving citizens' scientific literacy**:
- Let the public approach science in a simple and intuitive way, and connect the phenomena in daily life with the laws of physics, chemistry, and mathematics to help citizens better understand science.
- Raise citizens' awareness of environmental protection, so that they can not only become supporters of environmental protection but also actively participate in protection activities.

### Solutions:

The paper proposes to establish a non - profit autonomous institution named "Center for the Dissemination of Scientific Culture (Cdcs)". This center will provide a variety of functions and services, including but not limited to:

- **Science laboratories**: Conduct chemical, physical, and mathematical experiments and provide educational resources for schools and individuals.
- **Multimedia production and dissemination stations**: Produce and distribute multimedia materials related to science.
- **Meeting rooms and projection rooms**: Used for holding seminars, screening slides, and audio - visual materials.
- **Starting points for educational trips**: Organize educational trips targeting the local natural environment.
- **Scientific media libraries**: Provide various forms of scientific materials for citizens to consult.

Through these measures, Cdcs aims to become a multi - purpose platform that can meet the needs of amateurs and also provide support for professional scientific researchers, thereby comprehensively improving citizens' scientific literacy and environmental protection awareness.
