Abstract:A substantial amount of transportation research has been gathered under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), suggesting multi-dimensional impacts of the BRI on the transportation industry. This study identifies research trends in the BRI to elicit key agendas for future research by comprehensively reviewing 58 journal articles and applying combined methods of inductive content analysis and co-occurrence network analysis. Findings indicate that the BRI positively impacts the transportation industry by (1) building logistics capacity (2) strengthening connectivity of transportation network (3) diversifying shipping routes of oil transportation (thus enhancing energy security) (4) promoting intermodal transportation. A unified framework and four observations are presented, illustrating strategic risks and operational challenges associated with the BRI. Principal research agendas and questions are proposed, directing future research towards reconfiguration of transportation networks and healthy competition in transportation service standards.

Abstract:In today's world, global economic integration is accelerating, and the integration of countries in the political, economic, and cultural fields is further deepening. Language is a communication tool for countries to understand each other and an essential component of international cooperation. Today, learning foreign languages and spreading national languages are increasingly being incorporated into a country's foreign policy strategy, which positively impacts its internal development and helps it expand its influence to other countries. With the increasing popularity of Chinese language and culture abroad, the interest of Kyrgyz citizens in Chinese is also constantly increasing. It is essential to promote Chinese culture and the Chinese language in Kyrgyzstan. The teaching of Chinese in primary and secondary schools and universities in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the work of Confucius Institutes, have provided new impetus and energy for developing cooperation between the two countries. The article analyzes the opportunities and challenges of foreign language and Chinese language teaching in Kyrgyzstan through case analysis, comparative analysis, and literature review. The author concludes that the successful teaching of the Chinese language in education in Kyrgyzstan is inseparable from the political, economic, and cultural support of Kyrgyzstan and its partner countries.

Abstract:The construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road (hereinafter shortened as the Belt and Road Initiative ) calls for China's education diplomacy. Planning the layout of education diplomacy is in line with the national development and the historical logic, the theoretical logic as well as the practical logic of the Belt and Road Initiative. Education diplomacy is an independent diplomatic form of promoting national interests through educational activities. Education diplomacy has the advantages of connectivity, flexibility, "people's livelihood" and the hysteresis effect which is complementary to public diplomacy. In the process of the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, we should adhere to the strategy of adopting precise policies, educating people as well as benefiting people, being moderately neutral, using brand operation and strategic perseverance, so as to promote China's educational diplomacy.

Abstract:Relevance. The relevance of this study lies in the significant role that China's "Belt and Road" initiative plays in promoting international educational exchanges, especially with Kazakhstan. Purpose. The study aims to analyse China's education policy development in Kazakhstan under the "Belt and Road" initiative, focusing on the background, influencing factors, implementation measures, and future trends, to provide insights for educational practice in both China and Kazakhstan. Methodology. The research employs a comprehensive review of policy documents, agreements, and implementation measures related to China's "Belt and Road" educational initiatives. It uses qualitative analysis to extract insights from these sources. Results. The results highlight the establishment of a "Belt and Road" educational community, the signing of educational cooperation agreements with 24 countries, and the launch of educational programs in 23 countries. Notably, 60 Chinese colleges and universities have initiated overseas education programs, and 16 have established international cooperation laboratories. Conclusions. The study concludes that the "Belt and Road" initiative has effectively fostered educational cooperation and integration. This initiative enhances higher education's role in economic, social, and cultural exchanges between China and countries along the route, particularly Kazakhstan. The findings offer a foundation for future educational policies and practices to further strengthen these international collaborations. Keywords: "Belt and Road"; China; Kazakhstan; education policy

Abstract:China’s launch of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has had profound linguistic implications on its foreign language education policy. Successful foreign language programs are vital to any country’s national security and global interest promotion. An analysis of China’s current foreign language education with the BRI compliance will provide the backdrop for this paper’s suggestions. The challenges and opportunities associated with the development of foreign language education in today’s China will be analyzed under these four aspects: 1) improving in the variety and quality of foreign language education, 2) developing students’ international and intercultural competence, 3) deepening general education in target languages, and 4) strengthening English as the lingua franca for expertise training. Even with the significant progress made thus far since 40 years of “Reform and Opening-up”, China still has a long way to go in developing its national foreign language capacity to serve its expanding national interests for development.

Abstract:Since its inception in 2013, “The Belt and Road Initiative” has become an important engine driving global economic growth. The initiative has not only promoted infrastructure construction in countries along the Belt and Road but also strengthened financial integration, unimpeded trade, people-to-people exchanges, and policy communication. In this context, higher education, as an important avenue for talent training and scientific and technological innovation, is of great significance to promoting the economic and social development of countries along the Belt and Road. By strengthening academic cooperation with Chinese universities, Kyrgyzstan can enhance its curriculum, adopt advanced teaching methods, and integrate cutting-edge research to foster more skilled labor. Abstract:Relevance. The need to investigate the specifics of Chinese translator training within the framework of the global programme �One Belt, One Road� is primarily conditioned by the constant changes in various aspects, particularly in structural, semantic, and artistic aspects. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to investigate the global initiative �One Belt, One Road� in the context of training professional human resources to perform Chinese language translations. Methodology. This study analysed materials available on the websites of several higher education institutions. The analysis focused on specific parameters such as the distinct features of training students in Chinese studies, the education of translators working with Chinese, and the principles, methods, and techniques used in teaching the Chinese language. Results. Analyses of translator training have identified key skills for students: parallel language and culture study, adherence to translation norms like business etiquette, and mastery of technical translation tools. In Kyrgyz universities, methods include verbal (lectures, discussions), visual (audio and video materials), and practical (creative works, exhibitions, quizzes, conferences). For Chinese translators under the �One Belt, One Road� initiative, training spans multiple linguistic levels: phonetic (phrases, accents), grammatical (categories, meanings), lexical (vocabulary related to the initiative and various fields), syntactic (word order, links), and stylistic (business etiquette, unique vocabulary). Conclusions. The study found that the �One Belt, One Road� initiative's language policy focuses on planning Chinese language status, foreign languages, language structure, educational language use, and language services. The key challenges are the shortage of skilled professionals, intergovernmental cooperation, infrastructure standards, financial integration, and cultural exchange. In the future, this study can be used to develop technical improvements in Kyrgyz-Chinese translation, to improve the training of Chinese specialists within the framework of the global initiative �One Belt, One Road�. Abstract:The Belt and Road Initiative (B&R) has provided a brand new opportunity for the International Education of Chinese Language (IECL) since 2013. For the purpose of promoting Chinese language education, this article analyzes the status quo of the IECL and problems in the development of IECL, and then proposes constructive strategies for its better development under new circumstances. It is believed that the IECL should adopt “bringing in” and “going out” development strategies as well as actively explore new modes of Chinese language education. Valuing the roles of non-profit organizations and enterprises in Chinese language education under the guidance of Chinese government is also of great importance.

Abstract:"Bel and Road Initiative", which is also known as the “Silk Road Economic Belt” or the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road", is a new model of national cooperation advocated by China and is considered to be the economic cooperation zone with the widest coverage in the world today. The Russian-speaking countries along "Belt and Road Initiative" refer to the countries where "Russian" is recognized by the constitution as the national language, official language, interracial common language, or exists in the form of mother tongue, minority language, etc., thus forming a "language – state – group" with Russian as its link. Due to limited length, this paper mainly studies the "three East Slavic Countries", namely Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and the "Five Central Asian Countries", namely Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Russian-speaking countries along the "Belt and Road" have complicated historical, ethnic, political, religious, linguistic and other links. This also leads to the complexity of language governance in various countries under the background of global governance and shows commonalities and differences in the basic direction of language policy in various countries. The commonalities are mainly manifested in the hierarchy of forms of language policy, the stages in history, the politics of function and the multiplicity of objectives. The differences are mainly manifested in the language abilities of countries, the degree of national language policy and the guidance of dealing with the relationship with Russian on the premise of language policy. The commonalities and differences can help us fully understand the function of language in boosting economic exchanges, the positive and negative energy contained in language, the relationship between language and national security, and the relationship between language and cultural discourse power in the context of the "Belt and Road Initiative".The extraction of the commonalities and differences of language policy in Russian-speaking countries along the "Belt and Road "is conducive to promoting the transformation of language research from a Chinese perspective to a global perspective. The cooperation in the era of globalization is always multiple and non-unitary. In the context of the "Belt and Road Initiative", under the cooperation framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and in the process of the "Belt and Road Alliance", that is, the alliance of "Belt and Road" and the "Eurasian Economic Union", these Russian-speaking countries are not only important nodes along the "Belt and Road", but also important partners of China’s cooperation and exchanges in different frameworks of exchanges.The current prominent problems of Russian-speaking countries along the "Belt and Road" include the status of the national language and interracial common languages within the country, as well as the issues of language independence, cultural independence, and language sovereignty between countries. All these issues have essentially surpassed the basic function of language itself. In the vision of a community of shared future for mankind, the highest level of communication between sovereign countries is mutual communication and mutual learning based on mutual respect for culture. Only when we have a clear understanding of the rule of law in the countries along “the Belt and Road”, including their language policies, language plannings and language strategies, can the implementation of the "Belt and Road Initiative" be better and comprehensively supported.

Abstract:Abstract The Chinese Belt and Road Initiative ( bri ) is a state-driven development campaign that promote economic integration and infrastructure building across Eurasia and beyond, aiming to reconnect countries and revive the prosperity of the historical Silk Road region. Since its inception in 2013, there has been a growing literature surrounding the initiative, yet the studies of education within the bri context remain relatively under-researched. This paper aims to explore such connection by undertaking the task through a combination of policy review, semi-structured interviews, and empirical fieldwork data. It adopts a Cultural Political Economy theoretical framework to analyzes how education policy and practice has been positioned, constructed, and coordinated in relation to the wider cultural political economy in assisting the bri planning and development. Against the background of China’s resurgence as a global power and its ambition in reinvigorating the Silk Road, I argue that the strategic positioning of education into the bri represents a constructive force in imagining, empowering, and materializing the New Silk Road Project. This reveals education and its multifaced properties in promoting cultural outreach, fulfilling political obligation, and accelerating economic growth in line with the overall bri building.

Abstract:Relevance. Language teaching systems, both national and foreign languages, are constantly evolving, reflecting changes in society, scientific knowledge, and technological progress, playing a key role in a globalised society.Purpose. The study aims to analyse the key differences and similarities in the state and foreign language teaching systems in China and Kyrgyzstan.Methodology. To achieve the research objectives, the following methods were used: generalisation, survey, and comparative.Results. The research results determined that the state and foreign language teaching systems in China and Kyrgyzstan were formed under the influence of historical, cultural, and political factors. While China emphasises language unification at the national level considering local peculiarities, Kyrgyzstan balances between its national language and Russian, preserving the bilingual nature of the country. A comparative analysis of the language policies of two countries as different as China and Kyrgyzstan requires a thorough understanding of the historical, cultural, and political contexts of each country.Conclusions. Through the student survey conducted, it was found that more than half of the respondents believe that the state language teaching system in both China and Kyrgyzstan is rated as good compared to the foreign language system, where almost 50% of the total number of students are not sufficiently satisfied with its implementation. It was found that this tendency is related to the lack of practical tasks in the implementation of language cognition. The practical significance lies in the use of the results of the work by researchers who study aspects of the functioning and development of the learning system in Kyrgyzstan and China, as well as by specialists in the fields of philology and linguistics.

Abstract:Higher education is an important pillar of B&R, and as Chinese universities improve their global popularity, China is working hard to increase the level of higher education. In this paper, we provide a narrative synthesis of studies of China’s Belt and Road Initiative for higher education in mainland China (published 2015-2020). The review reveals five major emerging themes in the published literature: Higher education development in countries along the route; Higher education cooperation between countries; Internationalization of higher education; Higher education functions; Education of international students. This review provides an overall picture of the knowledge base on high education for BRI. This article makes specific suggestions for improving higher education under the Belt and Road Initiative. The authors highlight the need for more empirically solid research in mainland China.

Abstract:As a result of the Belt and Road Initiative’s implementation, China and the countries along the route have economic, political, cultural, and other ties, making it critical to develop necessary foreign language talents for the development of relevant exchanges. Under the auspices of the Belt and Road Initiative, we should not only enhance students, foreign language knowledge system but also their language application ability in cultivating foreign language talents. We should also encourage students to use foreign language flexibly in social and economic activities, guided by the concept of industry- education integration. Language teaching and cultural teaching should be combined in the practice of cultivating foreign language talents, and the teaching evaluation system should be guided by the teaching concept of cultivating intercultural communication ability and awareness of two-way cultural exchange.

Abstract:Abstract International student education in China is an important aspect of the Belt and Road Initiative ( bri ) construction, as well as a beginning point for enhancing the internationalization level of education. China has become the world’s top ten recipients of international students, and its worldwide influence on education is increasing. This research investigates the factors that influence the scale of international students in China and the impact of the bri on education by employing the “Push-Pull Theory”. In particular, we find that joining the bri will significantly increase a country’s student scale in China, both for degree and non-degree education. This effect is especially noticeable in the African region, as well as in middle- and low-income countries. These empirical findings support policy implications for international student education in China.

Abstract:The grand "Belt and Road Initiative" (BRI), comprising various routes by land and by sea, is a globally oriented outreach strategy intended to connect China with the world. Essentially, the BRI is about global outreach, connecting the world with China as the core hub. The initiative is known in Chinese as "Yi Dai Yi Lu" ("One Belt, One Road") but in practice, it encompasses multiple routes along the BRI, connecting various specific countries and regions, transportation modes and industrial sectors. China has the financial resources, the technology, the manpower, and most importantly, the political will and strategic vision to support infrastructure development in developing countries. Nevertheless, the BRI is currently at a crossroads. The tremendous enthusiasm for the promise of increased infrastructure connectivity and trade promotion under this initiative has begun to subside. Indeed, the implementation of the BRI has faced various practical issues and serious challenges.

Abstract:In September 2013, during his public speech at Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan, China’s President Xi Jinping proposed making economic ties more intimate and deepening the cooperation among European and Asian countries, broadening the development space and jointly constructing the “Silk Road Economic Belt” with a pattern of innovation.
