Abstract:The study of bacterial communities associated with plants, particularly those of agronomic interest, has been investigated since the late 19th century, revealing the relationship between nodule formation in leguminous plants, nitrogen fixation, their contribution to the plant, and the imperative presence of rhizobia within these nodules [...]

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper is an editorial introduction to a special issue, primarily discussing the diversity, molecular interactions, and growth-promoting effects of bacterial communities associated with plants (particularly those of agricultural significance). Specifically, this paper attempts to address the following questions: 1. **Understanding the diversity of plant-associated bacterial communities**: Exploring the diversity of bacterial communities surrounding different plant species (including cultivated and wild plants) and analyzing the dynamic changes of these bacterial communities under different environmental conditions. 2. **Studying the molecular interactions between bacteria and plants**: In-depth analysis of the complex molecular-level interaction mechanisms between bacteria and plants, such as nitrogen fixation, nutrient solubilization, and the production of plant hormones. 3. **Exploring the growth-promoting effects of bacteria on plants**: Investigating how specific bacteria promote plant growth through different mechanisms to better understand the role of "plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB)." 4. **Evaluating the impact of environmental factors on microbial communities**: Examining the effects of different environmental factors (such as the application of organic fertilizers, over-seeding, and other agricultural practices) on the composition and function of soil microbial communities. 5. **Developing effective biofertilizer strategies**: Based on the research results of the above questions, proposing the foundation for designing effective biofertilizer strategies to improve agricultural production efficiency and plant health. In summary, this paper aims to integrate research findings from multiple aspects to further reveal the complex relationships between plants and their associated bacterial communities, providing theoretical support and technical guidance for future agricultural practices.
