Abstract:A dramatic increase in the development of technology-based teaching and learning has been witnessed in the past decade. Many universities and corporations started rethinking the design and implementation of the learning systems. Due to the network infrastructure limitations in the traditional systems, it is difficult to provide an efficient and effective approach for delivering personalized course materials to individual student anytime anywhere. To take advantage from the emergence of the Internet, it provides an inexpensive and flexible infrastructure that can greatly enhance the communication among e-Learning system and students. In this paper, we introduce a SMIL-based approach to manage text, graphics, audio, and video for presenting the personalized media-based lesson on the Web. The facilities and capabilities of Web-based architecture, user profiles, XML, and SMIL are incorporated and utilized in a prototype system in our discussion.

Abstract:In traditional early childhood education, teachers often rely on paper-based materials for teaching letters and numbers recognition, which can quickly bore young children. This study aimed to explore the use of Microsoft PowerPoint as an interactive learning media for early childhood education. Using a qualitative approach, the study involved a community engagement program in Harapan Bangsa PAUD, East Java, Indonesia, to introduce the use of Microsoft PowerPoint to teachers. Interviews, observations, and event documentation provided data for descriptive analysis. The program improved teachers' ability to experiment with new and interactive educational material, according to the findings. Community involvement programs improve early childhood education and promote the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, according to participants and the PAUD Harapan Bangsa. Exploring HTML5 Package Interactive Content in Supporting Learning Through Self-Paced Massive Open Online Courses on Healthy Aging: Mixed Methods Study

Abstract:Background: The rapidly aging population and the growth of geriatric medicine in the field of internal medicine are not supported by sufficient gerontological training in many health care disciplines. There is rising awareness about the education and training needed to adequately prepare health care professionals to address the needs of the older adult population. Massive open online courses (MOOCs) might be the best alternative method of learning delivery in this context. However, the diversity of MOOC participants poses a challenge for MOOC providers to innovate in developing learning content that suits the needs and characters of participants. Objective: The primary outcome of this study was to explore students' perceptions and acceptance of HTML5 package (H5P) interactive content in self-paced MOOCs and its association with students' characteristics and experience in using MOOCs. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. Participants, predominantly general practitioners from various regions of Indonesia with diverse educational backgrounds and age groups, completed pretests, engaged with H5P interactive content, and participated in forum discussions and posttests. Data were retrieved from the online questionnaire attached to a selected MOOC course. Students' perceptions and acceptance of H5P interactive content were rated on a 6-point Likert scale from 1 (strongly disagree) to 6 (strongly agree). Data were analyzed using SPSS (IBM Corp) to examine demographics, computer literacy, acceptance, and perceptions of H5P interactive content. Quantitative analysis explored correlations, while qualitative analysis identified recurring themes from open-ended survey responses to determine students' perceptions. Results: In total, 184 MOOC participants agreed to participate in the study. Students demonstrated positive perceptions and a high level of acceptance of integrating H5P interactive content within the self-paced MOOC. Analysis of mean (SD) value across all responses consistently revealed favorable scores (greater than 5), ranging from 5.18 (SD 0.861) to 5.45 (SD 0.659) and 5.28 (SD 0.728) to 5.52 (SD 0.627), respectively. This finding underscores widespread satisfaction and robust acceptance of H5P interactive content. Students found the H5P interactive content more satisfying and fun, easier to understand, more effective, and more helpful in improving learning outcomes than material in the form of common documents and learning videos. There is a significant correlation between computer literacy, students' acceptance, and students' perceptions. Conclusions: Students from various backgrounds showed a high level of acceptance and positive perceptions of leveraging H5P interactive content in the self-paced MOOC. The findings suggest potential new uses of H5P interactive content in MOOCs, such as interactive videos with pop-up questions, to substitute for synchronous learning. The study underscores the significance of tailored educational strategies in supporting the professional development of health care professionals.
Reusable Learning Objects: An Agile Approach

Abstract:This paper discusses Reusable Learning Objects (RLOs) and to what extent they have lived up to the promise, particularly of reusability. Reusable Learning Objects have actually been discussed in the literature for the last 20 years and yet true large scale sharing of learning and teaching materials remains relatively rare and challenging. This paper argues that part of the reason is that the granularity of the learning objects that are in use today is not conducive to true reuse. Certainly whole PowerPoint slide decks and word documents are kept in individual files and folders. It is not an ideal situation. As a result, educators, teachers, course designers, are constantly reinventing the wheel, or searching for where that one excellent assignment, explanation, definition was last seen so it can be copied forward. This paper argues that to achieve effective reuse of Learning Objects, the following are required: smaller, more granular (micro) learning objects; means to combine them into larger presentation products; and modern revision and version control. The paper proposes applying approaches originating in the software engineering community, such as agile methodology, version control and management, markup languages, and agile publishing, which together form the Agile Approach of the title of the paper. With that foundation laid, the paper examines CourseGen, an open source software platform designed for creating, sharing, reusing and publishing reusable course content. CourseGen uses a modified markdown format augmented by CourseGen specific directives, such as $link to and $include topic. The CourseGen compiler converts a collection of CourseGen files into the final format such as a web site or a PowerPoint. CourseGen was designed, used and refined over the last three years in several Computer Science Courses at Brandeis University.

Abstract:The development of science and technology today constrain the educators to adapt, use, or even develop tools or applications as learning media, including Arabic language learning. In MTs Al-Yusra Gorontalo City, digital technology has been utilized as Arabic language learning media, with most teachers using PowerPoint programs for teaching, but the designs are still simple and not interactive. Therefore, this article aimed to develop Arabic language learning media based on digital technology with interactive multimedia designs using PowerPoint program based on iSpring Suite 11 and test its feasibility. This research method is Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model. The subjects of this study were eighth-grade students of MTs Al-Yusra Gorontalo City, with a sample size of 20. Media expert assessment, subject matter expert, language expert, students, and teachers were used as research data and analyzed descriptively in percentage. Based on this research, a product was obtained with a subject matter expert assessment of 82% in the highly valid category, media expert assessment of 82.5% in the highly valid category, and language expert assessment of 73.3% in the quite valid category. Students' response to media usage was in the good category with a score of 72%, and teachers' response to the ease of media usage was 76%. Based on these research results, it can be concluded that interactive multimedia with Power Point application based on iSpring Suite 11 in Arabic language subjects is feasible to be used as Arabic language learning media.

Abstract:With deep application of computers and network technology, online training courses gradually become an important way for training teachers. Many researchers paid much attention on these courses and studied their characteristics of sharability and reusability. This paper suggests applying SCORM in content design of teachers’ online training courses, which is a very popular standard with targets at sharability and reusability in digital learning field. Basing on the instructional design model ADDIE, it puts forward a model on design of teachers’ online training courses and describes every step especially on how to apply SCORM standard into the content design and development of the training courses. It is expected to provide a reference for the design and development of online training courses for teachers, realize the communication and resource share among different courses, and promote integrative development of digital resources.

Abstract:The article discusses the organization of training teaching staff to use HTML5 technologies for the development of electronic educational resources in the format of web apps. The relevance of using multimedia interactive electronic educational resources in modern school is noted and the effectiveness of developing such electronic educational resources in the form of both offline and online web apps is justified. The additional professional development program “Modern web technologies in education” for educators of the Southeast School District of the Moscow region is described: the goal of the program, improving professional competencies of students, planned learning outcomes, category of students, the form and the period of education, forms of students’ work, the timetable with both the thematic plan and the forms and the distribution of hours by the topics and the types of work. Abstract:The history of Islamic culture (SKI) learning process so far has taught teachers using conventional methods with minimal use of information technology which has an impact on low interest and student learning outcomes that are not in accordance with Article 19 paragraph 1 of Government Regulation No. 19 of 2005.This study aims to describe the learning characteristics of Islamic Cultural History in schools, develop learning media in the form of interactive learning multimedia, analyze the feasibility of SKI interactive learning multimedia, analyze SKI interactive learning multimedia in improving student learning outcomes. This type of research uses research and development (Research and Development) using the ADDIE model. The primary data collection technique is from the validation of media experts and material experts as well as the results of the pretest and posttest. The results of this study indicate that 1) SKI teachers teach in a teacher-centered way with the majority guided by LKS and SKI package books as learning resources, there are limitations to the use of media and technology where the media that is often used are blackboards and writing tools. 2) The results of the review by media experts and material experts state that the interactive multimedia based on PowerPoint macro enable that has been developed meets the criteria of being tested. 3) Development of interactive multimedia based on PowerPoint macro enable obtains very feasible criteria with an average percentage of 85.85%. 4) Interactive multimedia based on PowerPoint macro enable has a significant effect on student learning outcomes with the results of the small-scale hypothesis test obtaining 0.001 ≤ α 0.05 and the results of the hypothesis on a large scale obtaining 0.000 ≤ α 0.05. The gain test results on a small scale gets 0.7806 with high criteria and on a large scale gets 0.6187 with medium criteria.

Abstract:Project-based learning (PBL) promotes increased levels of learning, deepens student understanding of acquired knowledge, and improves learning motivation. Students develop their ability to think and learn independently through depending on themselves in searching for knowledge, planning, exploration, and looking for solutions to practical problems. Information availability, student engagement, and motivation to learn all increase with mobile learning. The teaching process may be enhanced by combining the two styles. This paper proposes and evaluates a teaching model called Mobile Project-Based Learning (Mobile-PBL) that combines the two learning styles. The paper investigates how significantly Mobile-PBL can benefit students. The traditional lecture method used to teach the software architecture module in the classroom is not sufficient to provide students with the necessary practical experience to earn a career as software architects in the future. Therefore, the first author tested the use of the model for teaching the software architecture module at Philadelphia University’s Software Engineering Department on 62 students who registered for a software architecture course over three semesters. She compared the results of using the model for teaching with those results that were obtained when using the project-based learning (PBL) approach alone. The students’ opinions regarding the approach, any problems they had, and any recommendations for improvement were collected through a focus group session after finishing each semester and by distributing a survey to students to evaluate the effectiveness of the used model. Comments from the students were positive, according to the findings. The projects were well-received by the students, who agreed that it gave them a good understanding of several course ideas and concepts, as well as providing them with the required practical experience. The students also mentioned a few difficulties encountered while working on the projects, including student distraction from social media and the skills that educators and learners in higher education institutions are expected to have.

Abstract:Usage of game mechanics, dynamics, aesthetics and game thinking in a non-game systems is called gamification and recently becomes very popular in academia. In e-learning systems gamification is mainly used to increase user's motivation, experience and engagement. When using gamified design elements in e-learning, we must consider various types of learners and learning objectives that have to be set for a course. For a successful implementation, the cooperation of experts in fields of education, technology, psychology, pedagogy and design is required. The paper presents our first attempt to convert an e-learning course and its grading systems into gamified version using various gamification design elements (e.g, points, badges, leader boards, levels, progress tracking, feedback, and social engagement). Some of them are supported by popular LMSs, usually through some plugin that must be installed. One of the issues many teachers encounter is the limitation of gamified elements in official LMS that they use and how to get the most out of it.

E-learning deliver hypertext, text, audio, images, animation and videos using desktop standalone computer, local area network based intranet and internet based contents. While producing an e-learning content or course-ware, a major decision making factor is whether to use audio for the benefit of the end users. Generally, three types of audio can be used in e-learning: narration, music and sound effect. Abstract:Interactive Learning Media has a very important role in the process of teaching and learning activities (KBM) in schools, especially during a pandemic, where KBM activities must be carried out online (in a network). To streamline online learning activities are stored in the Learning Management System (LMS), which is a web-based software program for management, documentation, monitoring, reporting, administration and distribution of educational content, training programs, technical manuals, instructional videos or digital library materials, and projects learning and development. Interactive Learning Media is a multimedia-based tool that can describe messages or information from teacher to students in which active two-way communication occurs between multimedia and users (students) so that it can facilitate the online learning process. This study used the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method with six stages, namely: concept, design, material collecting, assembly, testing, and distribution. The research objective is to create interactive learning media for basic programming subjects using Articulate Storyline software. The results of designing learning media are in the form of a scom application that can be integrated into the school's Learning Management System (LMS) and can be accessed by students anywhere and anytime via a laptop or smartphone.

Abstract:Abstract The process of Teaching-Learning has evolved tremendously within the last 5-10 years. The mode of teaching is changed from normal blackboard classroom teaching to technological teaching. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the education system has been disrupted especially; it affects more for Higher Educational Institutes where students have come from various regions. The immediate lockdown in the country made the outside students reach their homes without any prior knowledge of its effects. Most of the education sector has switched to distance learning. Our institute has also adopted Virtual Learning. Various virtual platforms are available as the Learning Management System. We have adopted the use of ICT in education for the last 3-4 years. This helped us to handle the Teaching-Learning during a pandemic outbreak. We have used Moodle Learning Management System for Virtual Learning. Learners Centric MOOCs (LCM) model is implemented through LMS and the effectiveness is improved by adding Feedback and Assessment to it. The LCM model consists of structural elements: Learning Dialogs (LeD) in the form of short 10 to 12 minutes Videos, Learning by Doing (LbD) in the form of an assignment question or activity to do, Learning Experience Interactions (LxI) in the form reflection spot and discussion on the video provided and Learning Extension Trajectories (LxT) in the form of a small quiz on the video and resources. The major challenge for Virtual Learning is learner’s engagement. We have added feedback to improve the teaching-learning process. The model is effectively applied for Third Year Computer Science and Engineering class. The course of Compiler Construction is taken in to account for the implementation. A total of 73 students were involved in this activity. The results of feedback from students are satisfactory. More than 83% of the learners have given positive feedback towards this technological change of teaching. Learner’s engagement has improved to 30%.

Abstract:The rapid development of technology is inseparable from human life, significantly impacting educational systems. Technological advancements, particularly in information technology, indirectly alter conventional teaching strategies. Current educational strategies emphasize student-centered approaches, wherein students play a more active role than teachers, while still recognizing the teacher's role as a source of learning. The implementation of Curriculum 2013 provides a reference in the education sector. Creating an enjoyable learning process involves considering various factors, such as student engagement and the use of effective teaching strategies and methods. This qualitative descriptive research explores the application of the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) design model in the context of interactive PowerPoint media for thematic learning in Grade V at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Bustanul Ulum 02 Tegalwangi Umbulsari Jember. Data collection methods include observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis involves data reduction techniques. The research findings reveal that a teacher at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah 02 Tegalwangi Umbulsari Jember utilizes interactive PowerPoint media in thematic learning, resulting in improved student understanding. The use of interactive PowerPoint has positively impacted student achievement, as evidenced by increased end-of-year assessment scores. The observation also highlights the significant role of instructional media in the learning process, stimulating student interest and creating a more relaxed and engaging learning atmosphere.

Abstract:Ten patients presented with acute anticholinergic syndrome secondary to Jimson seed (Datura stramonium) ingestion. Six of the 10 patients required hospitalization because of hyperpyrexia and severe neurologic derangement. Electroencephalograms recorded immediately after admission showed [1] slow wave activity, and [2] bizarre rhythmical bursts of high-voltage sharp wave activity; both of which rapidly resolved during the next 24 hours, as did the associated clinical findings of hyperreflexia, bilateral dorsiflexor Babinski responses, and decerebrate posturing. Previously unreported elevation of serum glutamic-oxalacetic transaminase and lactic dehydrogenase and prothrombin time prolongation are documented. The pathogenic mechanism accounting for abberation of these laboratory values remains undefined. All patients showed rapid clinical improvement; follow-up neurologic evaluation and electroencephalograms have been within normal limits. Because of the widespread availability and potential abuse of the Jimson seed, the clinical syndrome associated with its toxicity merits recognition.

Abstract:PowerPoint-based learning media is the development of learning tools by creating presentation slides and integrating various media such as images, animation, and text as teaching materials. Media use in learning activities needs to be done to facilitate the learning process and achieve optimal results from the learning objectives. Therefore, as a component of education, teachers must be more creative and innovative in presenting learning, such as using learning media as teaching materials. This research uses the Borg and Gall model of research development (R&D) methods. The steps in this development research include potential problems, literature study, information gathering, product design, product design validation, and prototype. The feasibility of the product is based on the results of assessments by media experts, material experts, and class teachers as test subjects. Data collection techniques use interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results of the research show that the assessment from media experts received a score percentage of 92.22%, including in the very appropriate category, material experts received a score percentage of 96%, including in the very appropriate category, and validation teachers received a presentation score of 96.66%, including in the very appropriate category. It can be concluded that Powerpoint media for science learning at SDN 1 Nonapan II is suitable as teaching material.

Abstract:Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) have transformed the educational landscape, offering scalable and flexible learning opportunities, particularly in data-centric fields like data science and artificial intelligence. Incorporating AI and data science into MOOCs is a potential means of enhancing the learning experience through adaptive learning approaches. In this context, we introduce PyGlide, a proof-of-concept open-source MOOC delivery system that underscores autonomy, transparency, and collaboration in maintaining course content. We provide a user-friendly, step-by-step guide for PyGlide, emphasizing its distinct advantage of not requiring any local software installation for students. Highlighting its potential to enhance accessibility, inclusivity, and the manageability of course materials, we showcase PyGlide's practical application in a continuous integration pipeline on GitHub. We believe that PyGlide charts a promising course for the future of open-source MOOCs, effectively addressing crucial challenges in online education.
