Abstract:We study the folding of the regular two-dimensional triangular lattice embedded in the regular three-dimensional Face Centered Cubic lattice, in the presence of quenched random spontaneous curvature. We consider two types of quenched randomness: (1) a ``physical'' randomness arising from a prior random folding of the lattice, creating a prefered spontaneous curvature on the bonds; (2) a simple randomness where the spontaneous curvature is chosen at random independently on each bond. We study the folding transitions of the two models within the hexagon approximation of the Cluster Variation Method. Depending on the type of randomness, the system shows different behaviors. We finally discuss a Hopfield-like model as an extension of the physical randomness problem to account for the case where several different configurations are stored in the prior pre-folding process.

Abstract:We present a generalization of the master solution to the quantum Yang-Baxter equation (obtained recently in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1006.0651" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1006.0651">arXiv:1006.0651</a>) to the case of multi-component continuous spin variables taking values on a circle. The Boltzmann weights are expressed in terms of the elliptic gamma-function. The associated solvable lattice model admits various equivalent descriptions, including an interaction-round-a-face formulation with positive Boltzmann weights. In the quasi-classical limit the model leads to a new series of classical discrete integrable equations on planar graphs.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to study the solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation in the endomorphism semigroup of the tensor product of a vector space. As preparation, we introduce the concepts of quasi-braided almost bialgebra (see also [10]) and quasi-cobraided almost bialgebra, and discuss some of their properties. In particular, it is shown that the quasi-R-matrix R of every quasi-braided almost weak Hopf algebra is regular under von Neumann's meaning. The solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation in the endomorphism semigroups are constructed respectively from every quasi-braided almost bialgebra and every quasi-cobraided almost bialgebra. As examples, we explain how to build solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation from some weak Hopf algebras and all Clifford monoids. Finally, the FRT construction is given so-as to build every solution of the Yang-Baxter equation from a quasi-cobraided bialgebra.

Abstract:On the basis of weight conservation of the A(n) case, Yang-Baxter relations are solved without the assumption that the upper-left triangle of each sub-block of S matrix vanishes. A family of braid group representations having no transpose symmetry are obtained and shown to construct link polynomials. Finally, a sequence of solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation with multiparameters are obtained via the Yang-Baxterization procedure.

Abstract:Generalization of Hopf algebraslq (2) by weakening the invertibility of the generatorK, i.e., exchanging its invertibilityKK −1=1 to the regularity K$\bar K$K=K is studied. Two weak Hopf algebras are introduced: a weak Hopf algebrawslq (2) and aJ-weak Hopf algebravslq (2) which are investigated in detail. The monoids of group-like elements ofwslq (2) andvslq (2) are regular monoids, which supports the general conjucture on the connection betweek weak Hopf algebras and regular monoids. A quasi-braided weak Hopf algebraŪqw is constructed fromwslq (2). It is shown that the corresponding quasi-R-matrix is regular Rw $\hat R$ wRw=Rw.

Abstract:In 1992 V.Drinfeld formulated a number of problems in quantum group theory. In particular, he suggested to consider ``set-theoretical'' solutions to the quantum Yang-Baxter equation, i.e. solutions given by a permutation R of the set $X\times X$, where X is a fixed set. In this paper we study such solutions, which in addition satisfy the unitarity and nondegeneracy conditions. We discuss the geometric and algebraic interpretations of such solutions, introduce several constructions of them, and make first steps towards their classification.

Abstract:The quantum Yang-Baxter equation admits generalisations to systems of Yang-Baxter type equations called Yang-Baxter systems. Starting from algebra structures, we propose new constructions of some constant as well as the spectral-parameter dependent Yang-Baxter systems. Besides, we also present explicitly the commutation algebra structure associated to the constant type in dimension two.

Abstract:How to give the set-solutions of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation is an important subject[1]. The aim of this paper is to study this subject under inverse semigroups. For an inverse semigroup S and a map R:S × S→S×S, we give a sufficient and necessary condition for R to be a solution of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation, and then for the case of Clifford semigroups, four set-solutions of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation are obtained. The solutions of the equation under the meaning of groups are generalized. This is an improvement of the study on Drinfeld problem.

Abstract:In this paper, we complete the classification of 4 x 4 solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation. Regular solutions were recently classified and in this paper we find the remaining non-regular solutions. We present several new solutions, then consider regular and non-regular Lax operators and study their relation to the quantum Yang-Baxter equation. We show that for regular solutions there is a correspondence, which is lost in the non-regular case. In particular, we find non-regular Lax operators whose R-matrix from the fundamental commutation relations is regular but does not satisfy the Yang-Baxter equation. These R-matrices satisfy a modified Yang-Baxter equation instead.

On exactly solvable Yang-Baxter models and enhanced symmetries

Abstract:We study Yang-Baxter deformations of the flat space string that result in exactly solvable models, finding the Nappi-Witten model and its higher dimensional generalizations. We then consider the spectra of these models obtained by canonical quantization in light-cone gauge, and match them with an integrability-based Bethe ansatz approach. By considering a generalized light-cone gauge we can describe the model by a nontrivially Drinfel'd twisted S matrix, explicitly verifying the twisted structure expected for such deformations. Next, the reformulation of the Nappi-Witten model as a Yang-Baxter deformation shows that Yang-Baxter models can have more symmetries than suggested by the $r$ matrix defining the deformation. We discuss these enhanced symmetries in more detail for some trivial and nontrivial examples. Finally, we observe that there are nonunimodular but Weyl-invariant Yang-Baxter models of a type not previously considered.

Abstract:The Yang-Baxter equation and it's various forms have applications in many fields, including statistical mechanics, knot theory, and quantum information. Unitary solutions of the braided Yang-Baxter equation are of particular interest as quantum gates for topological quantum computers. We demonstrate a simple construction for solutions in any dimension, which are both unitary and universal for quantum computation. We also fully classify a family of solutions to certain generalized Yang-Baxter equations and prove that certain instances of the equation only have solutions that are scalar multiples of the identity.

Abstract:The Yang-Baxter Equation (YBE) plays a crucial role for studying integrable many-body quantum systems. Many known YBE solutions provide various examples ranging from quantum spin chains to superconducting systems. Models of solvable statistical mechanics and their avatars are also based on YBE. Therefore, new solutions of the YBE could be used to construct new interesting 1D quantum or 2D classical systems with many other far-reaching applications. In this work, we attempt to find (almost) exhaustive set of solutions for the YBE in the lowest dimensions corresponding to a two-qubit case. We develop an algorithm, which can potentially be used for generating new higher-dimensional solutions of the YBE.

Abstract:A general system of particles (of one or several species) on a one dimensional lattice with boundaries is considered. Two general behaviors of such systems are investigated. The stationary behavior of the system, and the dominant way of the relaxation of the system toward its stationary system. Bases on the first behavior, static phase transitions (discontinuous changes in the stationary profiles of the system) are studied. Based on the second behavior, dynamical phase transitions (discontinuous changes in the relaxation-times of the system) are studied. The investigation is specialized on systems in which the evolution equation of one-point functions are closed (the autonomous systems).

Abstract:The quantum Yang-Baxter equation is a braiding condition on vector spaces which is of high relevance in several fields of mathematics, such as knot theory and quantum group theory. Their combinatorial counterpart are set-theoretic solutions to the Yang--Baxter equation, whose investigation is strongly driven by the study of algebraic objects called (skew) braces. In this article, we focus on indecomposable involutive non-degenerate set-theoretic solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation. More specifically, through a thorough analysis of their associated braces, we give a full classification of those which are of size $p^2$, for $p$ a prime.

Abstract:The Yang-Baxter equation first appeared in theoretical physics, in a paper by the Nobel laureate C. N. Yang, and in statistical mechanics, in R. J. Baxter’s work. Later, it turned out that this equation plays a crucial role in: quantum groups, knot theory, braided categories, analysis of integrable systems, quantum mechanics, non-commutative descent theory, quantum computing, non-commutative geometry, etc. Many scientists have found solutions for the Yang-Baxter equation, obtaining qualitative results (using the axioms of various algebraic structures) or quantitative results (usually using computer calculations). However, the full classification of its solutions remains an open problem. In this paper, we present the (set-theoretical) Yang-Baxter equation, we sketch the proof of a new theorem, we state some problems, and discuss about directions for future research.

Abstract:The principles of the theory of quantum groups are reviewed from the point of view of the possibility of their use for deformations of symmetries in physical models. The R-matrix approach to the theory of quantum groups is discussed in detail and is taken as the basis of the quantization of classical Lie groups, as well as some Lie supergroups. We start by laying out the foundations of non-commutative and non-cocommutative Hopf algebras. Much attention has been paid to Hecke and Birman-Murakami-Wenzl (BMW) R-matrices and related quantum matrix algebras. Trigonometric solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation associated with the quantum groups GL_q(N), SO_q(N), Sp_q(2n) and supergroups GL_q(N|M), Osp_q(N|2m), as well as their rational (Yangian) limits, are presented. Rational R-matrices for exceptional Lie algebras and elliptic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation are also considered. The basic concepts of the group algebra of the braid group and its finite dimensional quotients (such as Hecke and BMW algebras) are outlined. A sketch of the representation theories of the Hecke and BMW algebras is given (including methods for finding idempotents and their quantum dimensions). Applications of the theory of quantum groups and Yang-Baxter equations in various areas of theoretical physics are briefly discussed.

Abstract:The problem on the set-theoretical solutions to the quantum Yang–Baxter equation was presented by Drinfel'd as a main unsolved problem in quantum group theory. The set-theoretical solutions are a natural extension of the usual (linear) solutions. In this paper, we not only give a further study on some known set-theoretical solutions (the Venkov's solutions), but also find a new kind of set-theoretical solutions which have a geometric interpretation. Moreover, the new solutions lead to the metahomomorphisms in group theory.

Abstract:The focus of the paper is on constructing new solutions of the generalized classical Yang-Baxter equation (GCYBE) that are not skew-symmetric. Using regular decompositions of finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras, we construct Lie algebra decompositions of $\mathfrak{g}(\!(x)\!) \times \mathfrak{g}[x]/x^m \mathfrak{g}[x]$. The latter decompositions are in bijection with the solutions to the GCYBE. Under appropriate regularity conditions, we obtain a partial classification of such solutions. The paper is concluded with the presentations of the Gaudin-type models associated to these solutions.

Abstract:The q-deformed differential calculus is proposed and analysed in the framework of quantum plane. The q-deformed differential operator algebra is investigated and applied in the investigation of the quantum group SUq(2) and its representations. The generalization to n-dimensional differential calculus is made and shown to be a new solution to quantum plane by providing a new solution of the Yang-Baxter equation.

Abstract:We complete the classification of $4\times 4$ regular solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation. Apart from previously known models, we find four new models of non-difference form. All the new models give rise to Hamiltonians and transfer matrices that have a non-trivial Jordan block structure. One model corresponds to a non-diagonalisable integrable deformation of the XXX spin chain.
