Abstract:We study the dynamics of quantum fluctuations which take place at the earliest stage of high-energy processes and the conditions under which the data from e-p deep-inelastic scattering may serve as an input for computing the initial data for heavy-ion collisions at high energies. Our method is essentially based on the space-time picture of these seemingly different phenomena. We prove that the ultra-violet renormalization of the virtual loops does not bring any scale into the problem. The scale appears only in connection with the collinear cut-off in the evolution equations and is defined by the physical properties of the final state. In heavy-ion collisions the basic screening effect is due to the mass of the collective modes (plasmons) in the dense non-equilibrium quark-gluon system, which is estimated. We avoid the standard parton phenomenology and suggest a dedicated class of evolution equations which describe the dynamics of quantum fluctuations in heavy-ion collisions.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper aims to explore the dynamic processes of quantum fluctuations in high - energy heavy - ion collisions and how these processes form Quark - Gluon Plasma (QGP) under extreme relativistic conditions. Specifically, the author attempts to solve the following key issues: 1. **Dynamics of quantum fluctuations**: Study the dynamics of quantum fluctuations that occur in the earliest stages of high - energy processes, especially the behavior of these fluctuations in space and time. 2. **Determination of initial conditions**: Explore how to use the data of electron - proton Deep Inelastic Scattering (DIS) to calculate the initial conditions of high - energy heavy - ion collisions. The author proposes a method to derive the initial state of heavy - ion collisions by analyzing the quantum fluctuations in DIS. 3. **Introduction of scale parameters**: Prove that ultraviolet renormalization does not introduce any new scale parameters, and scale parameters only appear in the collinear cut - off related to the final state. The author emphasizes that these scale parameters are determined by the physical properties of the final state. 4. **Screening effect of collective modes**: In heavy - ion collisions, the basic screening effect is caused by the mass of collective modes (such as plasma modes) in a dense non - equilibrium quark - gluon system. The author estimates the mass of these collective modes and discusses their influence on quantum fluctuations. 5. **Construction of evolution equations**: Propose a class of evolution equations specifically used to describe the dynamics of quantum fluctuations in heavy - ion collisions. These equations are different from the traditional parton model and are constructed based on causality and emission conditions. ### Main contributions of the paper - **Space - time picture of quantum fluctuations**: Through detailed space - time analysis, the author provides a clear picture of the dynamics of quantum fluctuations, explaining the behavior of these fluctuations in high - energy processes. - **Method for determining initial conditions**: Propose a method to determine the initial conditions of heavy - ion collisions using DIS data, avoiding the complexity of the traditional factorization scattering theory. - **Screening effect of collective modes**: Discuss in detail the screening effect of plasma modes, providing important physical insight for understanding the formation of QGP. - **Innovation of evolution equations**: Propose new evolution equations that can more accurately describe the dynamic processes of quantum fluctuations in heavy - ion collisions, providing new tools for future experimental and theoretical research. ### Conclusion Through strict theoretical analysis and mathematical derivation, the author successfully establishes a framework for describing the dynamics of quantum fluctuations in high - energy heavy - ion collisions. This framework not only helps to understand the formation mechanism of QGP but also provides important theoretical support for future experimental design and data analysis.
