Abstract:In this paper, we try to construct an electroweak model which avoids using Higgs mechanism. We simultaneously introduce two sets of gauge bosons so as to keep the masses of gauge bosons $W^{\pm}$ and $Z$ non-zero without using Higgs mechanism. In order to introduce symmetry breaking, we need a vacuum potential. In a proper limit, this model will return to the standard model, except that there exists no Higgs particle and couplings between Higgs particle and fermions or gauge fields. The fundamental dynamical characteristics of this model are similar to those of the standard model.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is to construct an electro - weak model that does not rely on the Higgs mechanism. Specifically, the author tries to keep the masses of W± and Z bosons non - zero by introducing two sets of gauge bosons without using the Higgs mechanism. To achieve symmetry breaking, the author introduces a vacuum potential. In the appropriate limit, this new model will be close to the standard model, but there is no Higgs particle and its coupling with fermions or gauge fields. ### Main problems and solutions: 1. **Avoid using the Higgs mechanism**: - In the standard model, the Higgs mechanism is the key to giving gauge bosons mass. However, the Higgs particle has not been experimentally discovered so far. Therefore, the author hopes to explore an alternative solution that does not depend on the Higgs mechanism. 2. **Introduce two sets of gauge bosons**: - In order to make the W± and Z bosons have non - zero masses, the author introduces two sets of gauge bosons: one set contains the familiar W±, Z and photons, and the other set only contains massless gauge bosons. 3. **Achievement of symmetry breaking**: - The author achieves symmetry breaking by introducing a vacuum potential. The vacuum potential has no kinetic terms, but it can affect physical fields and lead to symmetry breaking. 4. **Characteristics of the model**: - The basic dynamic characteristics of the new model are similar to those of the standard model, but in the appropriate limit, all properties except those related to the Higgs particle are inherited from the standard model. - There are two different electromagnetic fields Aµ and A2µ in the model, so there are two different electromagnetic interaction coupling constants e1 and e2. The actual electromagnetic field should be a mixture of these two electromagnetic fields, and the effective coupling constant is \( e = \sqrt{e_1^2 + e_2^2} \). 5. **Experimental verification**: - If the existence of five massless gauge bosons is discovered in the experiment, some of them may be regarded as γ - photons. In particular, the Z2 boson has similar interaction properties to the γ - photon and the same mass, so it is difficult to distinguish in the experiment. - The charged massless gauge bosons W±2 may be regarded as charged photons or other light charged particles. 6. **Theoretical significance**: - Using the vacuum potential instead of the Higgs mechanism makes the interaction properties in the model more fixed and meets the requirements of gauge symmetry. This is an important theoretical improvement. ### Formula summary: - Form of the vacuum potential: \[ v = \begin{pmatrix} 0 \\ \frac{\mu}{\sqrt{2}} \end{pmatrix} \] - Gauge field transformation: \[ W_\mu = \cos\alpha F^1_\mu + \sin\alpha F^2_\mu \] \[ W^2_\mu = -\sin\alpha F^1_\mu + \cos\alpha F^2_\mu \] \[ C^1_\mu = \cos\alpha B^1_\mu + \sin\alpha B^2_\mu \] \[ C^2_\mu = -\sin\alpha B^1_\mu + \cos\alpha B^2_\mu \] \[ Z_\mu = \sin\theta_W C^1_\mu - \cos\theta_W W^3_\mu \] \[ A_\mu = \cos\theta_W C^1_\mu + \sin\theta_W W^3_\mu \] \[ Z^2_\mu = \sin\theta_W C^2_\mu - \cos\theta_W W^3_2_\mu \] \[ A^2_\mu = \cos\theta_W C^2_\mu + \sin\theta_W W^3_2_\mu \] - Electromagnetic interaction coupling constant: \[ e_1 = \frac{gg'}{\sqrt{g^2 + g'^2}}
