Abstract:We update the full set of $\bar{B}_s\rightarrow K$ form factors using light-cone sum rules with an on-shell kaon. Our approach determines the relevant sum rule parameters -- the duality thresholds -- from a Bayesian fit for the first time. Using a modified version of the Boyd-Grinstein-Lebed parametrisation, we combine our sum rule results at low momentum transfer $q^2$ with more precise lattice QCD results at large $q^2$. We obtain a consistent description of the form factors in the full $q^2$ range. Applying these results to a recent LHCb measurement of branching ratios for the decays $B_s^0 \to \lbrace K^-, D_s^-\rbrace \mu^+\nu_\mu$, we determine the ratio of Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa elements $$ \notag \left|\frac{V_{ub}}{V_{cb}}\right|_{q^2<7\; \textrm{GeV}^2} = 0.0681\pm 0.0040 \quad \text{and} \quad \left|\frac{V_{ub}}{V_{cb}}\right|_{q^2>7 \;\textrm{GeV}^2} = 0.0801\pm 0.0047 \ , $$ which are mutually compatible at the $1.9\sigma$ level. We further comment on the sensitivity to Beyond the Standard Model effects through measurements of the shape of $B_s^0 \to K^- \mu^+\nu_\mu$ decays, in light of recent limits on such effects from other exclusive $b\to u\ell\nu$ processes.

Improved Constraints on $B \to π\ell \barν_{\ell}$ Form Factors

Abstract:The behavior of the $\bpi$ form factors in the entire physical range is examined in a model independent way. Unitarity bounds are further constrained by the lattice results (APE). From this analysis, we obtain $f^{+}(0) = 0.38 \pm .03$ if the $B^{*}$-pole dominance behavior is assumed. However, to get the information on the behavior of the form factor $f^{+}$, QSR results are included. We see the deviations from the pole dominance due to the contributions of the higher singularities which are to be treated with more precise lattice data.

Abstract:B→(π,η,η′) transition form factors are investigated in the covariant light-front approach. With theoretical uncertainties, we find that B→(π,η,η′) form factors at q2=0 are f+(π,η,η′)(0)=(0.245−0.001+0.000±0.011,0.220±0.009±0.009,0.180±0.008−0.007+0.008) for vector current and fT(π,η,η′)(0)=(0.239−0.003−0.018+0.002+0.020,0.211±0.009−0.015+0.017,0.173±0.007−0.013+0.014) for tensor current, respectively. With the obtained q2-dependent f+π(q2) and observed branching ratio (BR) for B¯d→π+ℓν¯ℓ, the Vub is found as |Vub|LF=(3.99±0.13)×10−3. As a result, the predicted BRs for B¯→(η,η′)ℓν¯ℓ decays with ℓ=e,μ are given by (0.49−0.04−0.07+0.02+0.10,0.24−0.02−0.03+0.01+0.04)×10−4, while the BRs for D−→(η,η′)ℓν¯ℓ are (11.1−0.6−0.9+0.5+0.9,1.79−0.08−0.12+0.07+0.12)×10−4. In addition, we also study the integrated lepton angular asymmetries for B¯→(π,η,η′)τν¯τ: (0.277−0.001−0.007+0.001+0.005,0.290−0.000−0.003+0.002+0.003,0.312−0.000−0.006+0.004+0.005).
Updates on the determination of $\vert V_{cb} \vert$, $R(D^{*})$ and $\vert V_{ub} \vert/\vert V_{cb} \vert$

Abstract:We present an updated determination of the values of $\vert V_{cb} \vert$, $R(D^*)$ and $\vert V_{ub} \vert/\vert V_{cb} \vert$ based on the new data on semileptonic $B \to D^* \ell \nu_\ell$ decays by the Belle and Belle-II Collaborations and on the recent theoretical progress in the calculation of the form factors relevant for semileptonic $B \to D^* \ell \nu_\ell$ and $B_s \to K \ell \nu_\ell$ decays. In particular we present results derived by applying either the Dispersive Matrix (DM) method of Refs. [1-6] or the more standard Boyd-Grinstein-Lebed (BGL) [7] approach to the most recent values of the form factors determined in lattice QCD. Using all the available lattice results for the form factors from the DM method we get the theoretical value $R^{\rm th}(D^*) = 0.262 \pm 0.009$ and we extract from a bin-per-bin analysis of the experimental data the value $\vert V_{cb} \vert = (39.92 \pm 0.64) \cdot10^{-3}$. Our result for $R(D^*)$ is consistent with the latest experimental world average $R^{\rm exp}(D^*) = 0.284 \pm 0.012$ [8]} at the $\simeq 1.5\,\sigma$ level. Our value for $\vert V_{cb} \vert$ is compatible with the latest inclusive determinations $\vert V_{cb} \vert^{\rm incl} = (41.97 \pm 0.48) \cdot 10^{-3}$ [9] and $\vert V_{cb} \vert^{\rm incl} = (41.69\pm 0.63) \cdot 10^{-3}$ [10] within $\simeq 2.6$ and $\simeq 2.0$ standard deviations, respectively. From a reappraisal of the calculations of $\vert V_{ub} \vert / \vert V_{cb} \vert$, we also obtain $\vert V_{ub} \vert / \vert V_{cb} \vert = 0.087\pm 0.009$ in good agreement with the result $\vert V_{ub} \vert / \vert V_{cb} \vert = 0.0844\pm 0.0056$ from the latest FLAG review [11].

The systematic study of $B\to π$ form factors in pQCD approach and its reliability

Abstract:The study of exclusive B decays in perturbative QCD are complicated by the endpoint problem. In order to perform the perturbative calculation, the Sudakov effects are introduced to regulate the endpoint singularity. We provide a systematic analysis with leading and next-to-leading twist corrections for $B\to\pi$ form factors in pQCD approach. The intrinsic transverse momentum dependence of hadronic wave function and threshold resummation effects are included in pQCD approach. There are two leading twist B meson distribution amplitudes (or generally wave functions) in general. The QCD equations of motion provide important constraints on B meson wave functions. The reliability of pQCD approach in \bpi form factors is discussed. 70% of the result comes from the region $\alpha_s(t)/\pi<0.2$ and 38% comes from the region where the momentum transfer $t\geq 1\GeV$. The conceptual problems of pQCD approach are discussed in brief. Our conclusion is that pQCD approach in the present form cannot provide a precise prediction for \bpi transition form factors.

QCD Corrections to B→π Form Factors from Light-Cone Sum Rules

Abstract:We compute perturbative corrections to B→π form factors from QCD light-cone sum rules with B-meson distribution amplitudes. Applying the method of regions we demonstrate factorization of the vacuum-to-B-meson correlation function defined with an interpolating current for pion, at one-loop level, explicitly in the heavy quark limit. The short-distance functions in the factorization formulae of the correlation function involves both hard and hard-collinear scales; and these functions can be further factorized into hard coefficients by integrating out the hard fluctuations and jet functions encoding the hard-collinear information. Resummation of large logarithms in the short-distance functions is then achieved via the standard renormalization-group approach. We further show that structures of the factorization formulae for fBπ+(q2) and fBπ0(q2) at large hadronic recoil from QCD light-cone sum rules match that derived in QCD factorization. In particular, we perform an exploratory phenomenological analysis of B→π form factors, paying attention to various sources of perturbative and systematic uncertainties, and extract |Vub|=(3.05−0.38+0.54|th.±0.09|exp.)×10−3 with the inverse moment of the B-meson distribution amplitude ϕB+(ω) determined by reproducing fBπ+(q2=0) obtained from the light-cone sum rules with π distribution amplitudes. Furthermore, we present the invariant-mass distributions of the lepton pair for B→πℓνℓ (ℓ=μ,τ) in the whole kinematic region. Finally, we discuss non-valence Fock state contributions to the B→π form factors fBπ+(q2) and fBπ0(q2) in brief.

Abstract:In these proceedings for CIPANP2015 we present a brief overview of the current status of the theoretical approaches used by our group for the extraction of $|V_{cb}|$ and $|V_{ub}|$ through inclusive semi-leptonic $B$ decays. We discuss the calculations and implications of the recent perturbative corrections to power-suppressed contributions for $|V_{cb}|$, and present an overview of the major sources of theoretical uncertainty for $|V_{ub}|$.

Two-loop Corrections to the B to pi Form Factor from QCD Sum Rules on the Light-Cone and |V(ub)|

Abstract:We calculate the leading-twist O(alphas^2 beta0) corrections to the B to pi transition form factor f+(0) in light-cone sum rules. We find that, as expected, there is a cancellation between the O(alphas^2 beta0) corrections to fB f+(0) and the large corresponding corrections to fB, calculated in QCD sum rules. This suggests the insensitivity of the form factors calculated in the light-cone sum rules approach to this source of radiative corrections. We further obtain an improved determination of the CKM matrix element |V(ub)|, using latest results from BaBar and Belle for f+(0)|V(ub)|.

Abstract:We present a measurement of $|V_{ub}|$ from a simultaneous study of the charmless semileptonic decays $B^0\to\pi^- \ell^+ \nu_{\ell}$ and $B^+\to\rho^0 \ell^+\nu_{\ell}$, where $\ell = e, \mu$. This measurement uses a data sample of 387 million $B\overline{B}$ meson pairs recorded by the Belle~II detector at the SuperKEKB electron-positron collider between 2019 and 2022. The two decays are reconstructed without identifying the partner $B$ mesons. We simultaneously measure the differential branching fractions of $B^0\to\pi^- \ell^+ \nu_{\ell}$ and $B^+\to\rho^0 \ell^+\nu_{\ell}$ decays as functions of $q^2$ (momentum transfer squared). From these, we obtain total branching fractions $B(B^0\to\pi^- \ell^+ \nu_{\ell}) = (1.516 \pm 0.042 (\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.059 (\mathrm{syst})) \times 10^{-4}$ and $B(B^+\to\rho^0 \ell^+\nu_{\ell}) = (1.625 \pm 0.079 (\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.180 (\mathrm{syst})) \times 10^{-4}$. By fitting the measured $B^0\to\pi^- \ell^+ \nu_{\ell}$ partial branching fractions as functions of $q^2$, together with constraints on the non-perturbative hadronic contribution from lattice QCD calculations, we obtain $|V_{ub}|$ = $(3.93 \pm 0.09 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.19) \times 10^{-3}$. Here, the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is theoretical.

Abstract:We analyse the $\overline B_s^0\to K^+l^-\bar \nu$ and $\overline B_s^0\to K^{*+}(\to K\pi) \ell^-\bar \nu$ decays that are valuable for extracting the CKM matrix element $|V_{ub}|$. We calculate the differential and integrated partial widths in units of $|V_{ub}|^2$ based on various calculations of hadronic form factors and in particular the latest Lattice QCD calculation of the $B_s\to K^*$ form factors. For the decay $\overline B_s^0 \to K\pi \ell\bar \nu$, we formulate the general angular distributions with the inclusion of the various partial-wave $K\pi$ contributions. Using the results for the $K\pi$ scalar form factor calculated from unitarized chiral perturbation theory, we explore the S-wave effects on angular distribution variables and demonstrate that they may not be negligible, considering the high precision expected in future measurements. We also briefly discuss the impact of the S-wave $\pi\pi$ contributions in the $B^-\to \pi^+\pi^-\ell \bar \nu$ decay and provide estimates for the mode $B^-\to K^+K^-\ell \bar \nu$. The studies of these channels in future can not only be used to determine $|V_{ub}|$, but may also provide valuable information on the $K\pi$ and $\pi\pi$ phase shifts.

Determination of $|V_{ub}|$ from exclusive baryonic $B$ decays

Abstract:We use the exclusive baryonic $B$ decays to determine the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix element $V_{ub}$. From the relation $|V_{ub}|^2/|V_{cb}|^2=({\cal B}_\pi/{\cal B}_D){\cal R}_{ff}$ based on $B^-\to p\bar p \pi^-$ and $\bar B^0\to p\bar p D^0$ decays, where $|V_{cb}|$ and ${\cal B}_\pi/{\cal B}_D\equiv{\cal B}(B^-\to p\bar p \pi^-)/{\cal B}(\bar B^0\to p\bar p D^0)$ are the data input parameters, while ${\cal R}_{ff}$ is the one fixed by the $B\to p\bar p$ transition matrix elements, we find $|V_{ub}|=(3.48^{+0.87}_{-0.63}\pm 0.40\pm 0.07)\times 10^{-3}$ with the errors corresponding to the uncertainties from ${\cal R}_{ff}$, ${\cal B}_\pi/{\cal B}_D$ and $|V_{cb}|$, respectively. Being independent of the previous results, our determination of $|V_{ub}|$ has the central value close to those from the exclusive $\bar B\to \pi\ell\bar \nu_\ell$ and $\Lambda_b\to p\mu^-\bar \nu_\mu$ decays, but overlaps the one from the inclusive $\bar B\to X_u \ell\bar \nu_\ell$ with the current uncertainties. The extraction of $|V_{ub}|$ in the baryonic $B$ decays is clearly very useful for the complete determination of the CKM matrix elements as well as the exploration of new physics.

Lattice-Constrained Unitarity Bounds for $\bar B^0 \to π^+ l^- \bar ν_l$ Decays

Abstract:Lattice results, kinematical constraints and QCD dispersion relations are combined for the first time to derive model-independent bounds for QCD form factors and corresponding rates. To take into account the error bars on the lattice results we develop a general formalism which ascribes well-defined statistical properties to these bounds. We concentrate on $\bar B^0 \to \pi^+ l^- \bar\nu_l$ decays because of the relative simplicity of the analytical behavior of the relevant polarization functions and because of their immediate phenomenological relevance. To determine the range of applicability of the dispersive matching required to obtain the bounds, we have evaluated the leading perturbative and non-perturbative QCD corrections to the relevant polarization functions. Despite the lattice results' large error bars and limited kinematical range, the bounds we obtain appear to favor certain parametrizations for the form factors over others. The bounds also enable the determination of $|V_{ub}|$ from the total experimental rate with a theoretical error ranging from 27% to 37%, depending on the assumptions made. The techniques developed here are, in fact, quite general and are not limited to use with lattice results nor to semileptonic $\bar B^0 \to \pi^+ l^- \bar\nu_l$ decays.

Branching ratio and $CP$ violation of $B\to Kπ$ decays in a modified perturbative QCD approach

Abstract:We calculate the branching ratio and $CP$ violations for $B\to K\pi$ decays in a modified perturbative QCD approach based on $k_{T}$ factorization. The resummation effect of the transverse momentum regulates the endpoint singularity. Using the $B$ meson wave function that is obtained in the relativistic potential model, soft contribution cannot be suppressed effectively by Sudakov factor. Soft scale cutoff and soft $BK$, $B\pi$ and $K\pi$ form factors have to be introduced. The most important next-to-leading-order contributions from the vertex corrections, the quark loops, and the magnetic penguins are also considered. In addition, the contribution of the color-octet hadronic matrix element is included which is essentially of long-distance dynamics. Our predictions for branching ratios and $CP$ violations are in good agreement with the experimental data. Especially the theoretical result of dramatic difference between the $CP$ violations of $B^+\to K^+\pi^0$ and $B^0\to K^+\pi^-$ is consistent with experimental measurement, therefore the $K\pi$ puzzle in $B$ decays can be resolved in our way of the modified perturbative QCD approach.

Improved $π^0,η,η^{\prime}$ transition form factors in resonance chiral theory and their $a_μ^{\rm{HLbL}}$ contribution

Abstract:Working with Resonance Chiral Theory, within the two resonance multiplets saturation scheme, we satisfy leading (and some subleading) chiral and asymptotic QCD constraints and accurately fit simultaneously the $\pi^{0},\eta,\eta^{\prime}$ transition form factors, for single and double virtuality. In the latter case, we supplement the few available measurements with lattice data to ensure a faithful description. Mainly due to the new results for the doubly virtual case, we improve over existing descriptions for the $\eta$ and $\eta^\prime$. Our evaluation of the corresponding pole contributions to the hadronic light-by-light piece of the muon $g-2$ read: $a_\mu^{\pi^{0}\text{-}\rm{pole}}=\left(60.4\pm0.5^{+3.2}_{-1.8}\right)\times10^{-11}$, $a_\mu^{\eta\text{-}\mathrm{pole}}=\left(15.2\pm0.5^{+1.1}_{-0.7}\right)\times10^{-11}$ and $a_\mu^{\eta^\prime\text{-}\rm{pole}}=\left(14.4\pm0.8^{+1.4}_{-1.0}\right)\times10^{-11}$, for a total of $a_\mu^{\pi^0+\eta+\eta^{\prime}\text{-}\rm{pole}}=\left(90.0\pm1.1^{+3.7}_{-2.2}\right)\times10^{-11}$, where the first and second error are the statistical and systematic uncertainties, respectively.

New results on $|V_{ub}|$ using inclusive and exclusive $B$ decays from the Belle experiment

Abstract:We present two recent measurements of semileptonic B decays at Belle, offering valuable insights into the determination of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix element $|V_{ub}|$. These analyses use the full Belle dataset, comprising $772 \times 10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance. With an innovative strategy, the inclusive $B \to X_u \ell \nu$ and exclusive $B \to \pi \ell \nu$ decays are simultaneously analyzed for the first time, and the $|V_{ub}|$ ratio is extracted as $|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{excl.}}|/|V_{ub}^{\mathrm {incl.}}|=0.97 \pm 0.12$. Furthermore, we provide preliminary results for the inclusive branching fractions ratio of $B \to X_u \ell \nu$ and $B \to X_c \ell \nu$ decays, accompanied by additional interpretations aimed at deriving the inclusive $|V_{ub}|/|V_{cb}|$ ratio.

We also briefly discuss the impact of the S-wave ππ contributions in the B^-→π^+π^-ℓv decay and provide estimates for the mode B^-→K^+K^-ℓν . Abstract:We analyse the $ \overline{B}_s^0\to {K^{+}}{l^{-}}\overline{\nu} $ and $ \overline{B}_s^0\to {K^{*+ }}\left( {\to K\pi } \right){\ell^{-}}\overline{\nu} $ decays that are valuable for extracting the CKM matrix element |V ub|. We calculate the differential and integrated partial widths in units of |V ub|2 based on various calculations of hadronic form factors and in particular the latest Lattice QCD calculation of the B s → K * form factors. For the decay $ \overline{B}_s^0\to K\pi \ell \overline{\nu} $, we formulate the general angular distributions with the inclusion of the various partial-wave Kπ contributions. Using the results for the Kπ scalar form factor calculated from unitarized chiral perturbation theory, we explore the S-wave effects on angular distribution variables and demonstrate that they may not be negligible, considering the high precision expected in future measurements. Abstract:Continuum Schwinger function methods for the strong-interaction bound-state problem are used to arrive at a unified set of parameter-free predictions for the semileptonic K→π, D→π,K and Ds→K, B(s)→π(K) transition form factors and the associated branching fractions. The form factors are a leading source of uncertainty in all such calculations: our results agree quantitatively with available data and provide benchmarks for the hitherto unmeasured Ds→K0, B¯s→K+ form factors. The analysis delivers a value of |Vcs|=0.974(10) and also predictions for all branching fraction ratios in the pseudoscalar meson sector that can be used to test lepton flavour universality. Quantitative comparisons are provided between extant theory and the recent measurement of BBs0→K−μ+νμ. Here, further, refined measurements would be useful in moving toward a more accurate value of |Vub|.

Abstract:We study the semileptonic decay $\bar{B}_s \to K^{*+} \ell^-\bar\nu_\ell$, which is induced by $b\to u \ell^- \bar\nu_\ell$ transitions at the quark level. We take into account the standard model (SM) operator from $W$-boson exchange as well as possible extensions from physics beyond the SM. The secondary decay $K^{*+}\to K\pi$ can be used to study a number of angular observables, which are worked out in terms of short-distance Wilson coefficients and hadronic form factors. Our analysis allows for an independent extraction of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{ub}|$ and for the determination of certain ratios of $\bar{B}_s\to K^*$ form factors. Moreover, a future precision measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry in the $\bar{B}_s \to K^{*+} \ell^-\bar\nu_\ell$ decay can be used to unambiguously verify the left-handed nature of the transition operator as predicted by the SM. We provide numerical estimates for the relevant angular observables and the resulting decay distributions on the basis of available form-factor information from lattice and sum-rule estimates. In addition, we pay particular attention to suitable combinations of angular observables in the decays $\bar{B}_s \to K^{*+}(\to K\pi)\ell^-\bar\nu_\ell$ and $\bar{B} \to K^{*0}(\to K\pi)\ell^+\ell^-$, and find that they provide complementary constraints on the relevant $b\to s$ short-distance coefficients. As a by-product, we perform a SM fit on the basis of selected experimental decay rates and hadronic input functions, which results in $|V_{ub}| = (4.07 \pm 0.20) \cdot 10^{-3}$.
