Abstract:A new cascade radical addition/cyclization of unactivated alkenes and phosphine oxides has been developed. A wide variety of bioactive phosphine-containing quinazolinones were obtained in up to 91% yield for 34 examples under transition-metal-free conditions. This cascade protocol represents an environmentally friendly and efficient way to build phosphine-containing quinazolinones in excellent yields under mild conditions with a broad substrate scope and high atomic economy.

Abstract:A general method for one‐pot synthesis of thioamides is developed through a three‐component reaction involving chlorohydrocarbon, amide and elemental sulfur. Such a strategy does not only avoid residual transition metal in the product but also prevent the generation of C−N coupling by‐product. The latter is prone to be generated when alkane halide and amine are present. With the protocol proposed in this work, both alkyl and aryl thioamides can be obtained in moderate to excellent yields with a high tolerance of various functional groups. External oxidants are not required in the reaction. In addition, the reaction mechanisms are addressed using a combination of controlling experiments and quantum chemical calculations.

Abstract:A novel and transition metal-free synthesis of 3,4-dihydro-1,2-oxaphosphinine 2-oxides was developed. LiHMDS-mediated tandem Michael addition and nucleophilic substitution of readily available phosphonochloridates and chalcones afforded a variety of valuable 3,4-dihydro-1,2-oxaphosphinine 2-oxides bearing diverse functionalities in excellent yields and satisfactory to good diastereoselectivity (up to 99% yield and up to 99 : 1 dr).

Abstract:On account of the broad utilities of organophosphorus compounds, the development of highly efficient and concise phosphination methods is significantly important and urgent. Herein, we disclose a novel method for the synthesis of phosphorylated heterocycles: versatile intermediate propargylamines serving as a new type of radical acceptors incorporated in P-radicals via a photocatalytic strategy. This reaction proceeds through a cascade phosphinoylation/ cyclization/oxidation/aromatization pathway using readily available starting materials under mild conditions of light with excellent atom economy, catalyzed by AgOAc or fac-Ir(ppy)(3). One of the phosphorylated quinolines was selected, as an example, as an electron-transporting material for fabricating phosphorescence organic light-emitting diodes displaying excellent electroluminescence performances with a maximum external quantum efficiency of 21.9% with negligible efficiency roll-off ratios.

Abstract:A simple and pratical strategy for the synthesis of phosphorothiolated heterocyclic compounds from easily prepared alkynes and P(O)SH compounds has been developed. With the assistance of NCS, the nucleophilic P(O)SH could be converted to the electrophilic phosphoranesulfenyl chloride in situ, which then induced the regioselective phosphorothiolation/cyclization under metal- and additive-free conditions. This protocol allows the rapid construction of diverse phosphorothiolated benzofurans, benzothiophenes, and isocoumarins with good yields, which opens up an avenue for the introduction of phosphorothioate group into biologically interesting heterocyclic scaffolds.

Abstract:Photoredox‐catalyzed transition‐metal‐free C(sp2)−H phosphorylation of thiazole and quinoxalines using Mes‐Acr‐MeClO4 as a photocatalyst was described. This direct C(sp2)−H phosphorylation transformation can smoothly proceed under mild conditions, showing broad substrate scope. The developed protocol can utilize oxygen in the air as a green oxidant, bypassing the addition of metals, bases, additives, and external oxidants. Visible light mediated transition‐metal‐free C(sp2)−H phosphorylation of thiazole and quinoxaline derivatives using Mes‐Acr‐MeClO4 as a photocatalyst has been described. This photoredox‐catalyzed direct C(sp2)−H phosphorylation transformation could smoothly proceed under mild conditions, utilizing oxygen in the air as a green oxidant without the addition of metals, bases, additives, and external oxidants. The mechanistic studies helped to rationalize the formation of C(sp2)−P bond followed a radical pathway through a SET process.

Abstract:An electrochemically regioselective C–H phosphorothiolation of (hetero)arenes with thiocyanate as the S source under ultrasonic irradiation has been developed. The synergistic cooperation of electrooxidation and ultrasonication markedly accelerated the C–H phosphorothiolation reaction. Abstract:A highly efficient and environmentally-friendly base-mediated transition metal-free direct thiophlic catalytic approach has been reported for the synthesis of S-benzhydryl-phosphorothioates by reacting phosphite nucleophiles with diarylmethanethione. A wide variety of thioketones were coupled with different phosphite derivatives to provide the corresponding phosphorothioates in good to excellent yields. Abstract:Photoinduced transition-metal- and photosensitizer-free cross-coupling of aryl halides (including Ar-Cl, Ar-Br, and Ar-I) with H-phosphonates (including dialkyl phosphonates and diarylphosphine oxides) is reported. Various functional groups were tolerated, including ester, methoxy, dimethoxy, alkyl, phenyl, trifluoromethyl, and heterocyclic compounds. This simple and green strategy provides a practical pathway to synthesize arylphosphine oxides.

Abstract:An efficient, LiN(SiMe3)2‐mediated phosphorylation of terminal alkynes with chlorodiphenylphosphine oxide has been developed to synthesize alkynylphosphine oxides. This transition‐metal‐free protocol was featured with simple operation, mild reaction conditions, and broad substrate scope. The tolerance of halogen and ester substituents displayed the advantages of this new method over the traditional ones. In addition, the application potential was demonstrated by the gram‐scale reaction. When using diisopropyl chlorophosphate and chlorodiphenylphosphine, the corresponding alkynylphosphate and alkynylphosphine could also been produced.

Abstract:Both sulfonyl and phosphorothioate are important privileged structural motifs which are widely presented in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Herein, we describe an efficient approach to synthesizing sulfonyl-containing phosphorothioates by merging photoredox and copper catalysis at room temperature. This protocol is compatible with a wide range of substrates and can be applied to the late-stage modification of complex molecules. Control experiments are conducted to demonstrate the generation of the sulfonyl radical in the transformation.

Abstract:A facile and efficient method for the synthesis of chromone-containing triarylmethane derivatives via a HFIP promoted tandem alkylation/annulation protocol of o -hydroxyaryl enaminones with chlorohydrocarbon is described. Employing DCM/HFIP as solvent, the reactions proceed smoothly at room temperature without any transition-metal catalyst, providing a variety of chromone-containing triarylmethanes in moderate to good yields. Moreover, the developed protocol reveals a broad substrate scope and good group tolerance.

Abstract:We herein report a direct electrochemical dehydrogenative CH phosphonylation of thiazoles derivatives with H2 evolution. Employing electricity as the green and sole oxidant, cheap metal as electrode, the anodic oxidation together with cathodic hydrogen evolution process provides a green and efficient strategy for CH phosphonylation. A diverse range of phosphorus products were constructed under external metal and oxidant-free conditions at ambient temperature, featuring atom economy, simple operation and wide reaction scope.
