Abstract:Kang et al. demonstrate that acute LPS exposure leads to persisting changes and an innate immune memory phenotype in airway macrophages long after the acute inflammatory response. Innate immune memory in airway macrophages is accompanied by TII capable of robust protection against bacterial infection but minimal protection against viral infection.
