Abstract:We present a complete set of Feynman rules for non-Abelian gauge fields obeying the radial (Fock-Schwinger) gauge condition and prove the consistency with covariant gauge Feynman rules.

Abstract:We determine the Feynman rules for the minimal type A higher-spin gauge theory on AdSd+1 at cubic order. In particular, we establish the quantum action at cubic order in de Donder gauge, including ghosts. We also give the full de Donder gauge propagators of higher-spin gauge fields and their ghosts. This provides all ingredients needed to quantise the theory at cubic order.

Abstract:Starting from the gauge invariant effective action in the quasi-multi-Regge kinematics (QMRK), we obtain the effective reggeized gluon (R) -- particle (P) vertices of the following types: $RPP$, $RRP$, $RRPP$, $RPPP$, $RRPPP$, and $RPPPP$, where the on-mass-shell particles are gluons, or sets of gluons with small invariant masses. The explicit expressions satisfying the Bose-symmetry and gauge invariance conditions are obtained. As a comment to the Feynman rules for derivation of the amplitudes in terms of effective vertices we present a ``vocabulary'' for practitioners.

All-order Feynman rules for leading-twist gauge-invariant operators in QCD

Abstract:We present the Feynman rules for leading-twist gauge-invariant quark and gluon operators with an arbitrary number of total derivatives and applicable to any order in perturbation theory. This generalizes previous results and constitutes a necessary ingredient in the computation of the matrix elements of the corresponding operators. The results are written in a form appropriate for implementation in a computer algebra system. To illustrate the latter we provide implementations in Mathematica and FORM, which are made available at <a class="link-external link-https" href="https://github.com/vtsam/NKLO" rel="external noopener nofollow">this https URL</a>.

Feynman Rules in the Two-Higgs Doublet Model Effective Field Theory

Abstract:We derive a complete set of Feynman rules in the general two-Higgs doublet model effective field theory where the effects of additional new physics are parametrized by operators up to mass dimension-six. We calculate the physical Higgs spectrum, contributions to the couplings and masses of electroweak gauge bosons and fermions, and all contact interactions arising from dimension-six operators. We also present results in specific limits and types, which include the $CP$-conserving limit, alignment limit, and the four types of two-Higgs doublet models: type-I, -II, -X, and -Y. We discuss the differences between the two-Higgs doublet model effective field theory and the renormalizable two-Higgs doublet model or the standard model effective field theory. We create a FeynRules model package for calculating all Feynman rules in the general effective field theory and its specific limits and types.

Abstract:We study Feynman rules for the rational part R of the Standard Model amplitudes at one-loop level in the ’t Hooft-Veltman γ 5 scheme. Comparing our results for quantum chromodynamics and electroweak 1-loop amplitudes with that obtained based on the Kreimer-Korner-Schilcher (KKS) γ 5 scheme, we find the latter result can be recovered when our γ 5 scheme becomes identical (by setting g5s = 1 in our expressions) with the KKS scheme. As an independent check, we also calculate Feynman rules obtained in the KKS scheme, finding our results in complete agreement with formulae presented in the literature. Our results, which are studied in two different γ 5 schemes, may be useful for clarifying the γ 5 problem in dimensional regularization. They are helpful to eliminate or find ambiguities arising from different dimensional regularization schemes.
An observation on Feynman diagrams with axial anomalous subgraphs in dimensional regularization with an anticommuting $γ_5$

Abstract:Through the calculation of the matrix element of the singlet axial-current operator between the vacuum and a pair of gluons in dimensional regularization with an anticommuting $\gamma_5$ defined in a Kreimer-scheme variant, we find that additional renormalization counter-terms proportional to the Chern-Simons current operator are needed starting from $\mathcal{O}(\alpha_s^2)$ in QCD. This is in contrast to the well-known purely multiplicative renormalization of the singlet axial-current operator defined with a non-anticommuting $\gamma_5$. Consequently, without introducing compensation terms in the form of additional renormalization, the Adler-Bell-Jackiw anomaly equation does not hold automatically in the bare form in this kind of schemes. We determine the corresponding (gauge-dependent) coefficient to $\mathcal{O}(\alpha_s^3)$ in QCD, using a variant of the original Kreimer prescription which is implemented in our computation in terms of the standard cyclic trace together with a constructively-defined $\gamma_5$. Owing to the factorized form of these divergences, intimately related to the axial anomaly, we further performed a check, using concrete examples, that with $\gamma_5$ treated in this way, the axial-current operator needs no more additional renormalization in dimensional regularization but \textit{only} for non-anomalous amplitudes in a perturbatively renormalizable theory. To be complete, we provide a few additional ingredients needed for a proposed extension of the algorithmic procedure formulated in the above analysis to potential applications to a renormalizable anomaly-free chiral gauge theory, i.e.~the electroweak theory.

Abstract:In this paper we present FeynRules, a new Mathematica package that facilitates the implementation of new particle physics models. After the user implements the basic model information (e.g. particle content, parameters and Lagrangian), FeynRules derives the Feynman rules and stores them in a generic form suitable for translation to any Feynman diagram calculation program. The model can then be translated to the format specific to a particular Feynman diagram calculator via FeynRules translation interfaces. Such interfaces have been written for CalcHEP/CompHEP, FeynArts/FormCalc, MadGraph/MadEvent and Sherpa, making it possible to write a new model once and have it work in all of these programs. In this paper, we describe how to implement a new model, generate the Feynman rules, use a generic translation interface, and write a new translation interface. We also discuss the details of the FeynRules code.

Abstract:FeynRules is a Mathematica-based package which addresses the implementation of particle physics models, which are given in the form of a list of fields, parameters and a Lagrangian, into high-energy physics tools. It calculates the underlying Feynman rules and outputs them to a form appropriate for various programs such as CalcHEP, FeynArts, MadGraph, Sherpa and Whizard. Since the original version, many new features have been added: support for two-component fermions, spin-3/2 and spin-2 fields, superspace notation and calculations, automatic mass diagonalization, completely general FeynArts output, a new universal FeynRules output interface, a new Whizard interface, automatic 1 to 2 decay width calculation, improved speed and efficiency, new guidelines for validation and a new web-based validation package. With this feature set, FeynRules enables models to go from theory to simulation and comparison with experiment quickly, efficiently and accurately.

FeynMG: a FeynRules extension for scalar-tensor theories of gravity

Abstract:The ability to represent perturbative expansions of interacting quantum field theories in terms of simple diagrammatic rules has revolutionized calculations in particle physics (and elsewhere). Moreover, these rules are readily automated, a process that has catalysed the rise of symbolic algebra packages. However, in the case of extended theories of gravity, such as scalar-tensor theories, it is necessary to precondition the Lagrangian to apply this automation or, at the very least, to take advantage of existing software pipelines. We present a Mathematica code FeynMG, which works in conjunction with the well-known package FeynRules, to do just that: FeynMG takes as inputs the FeynRules model file for a non-gravitational theory and a user-supplied gravitational Lagrangian. FeynMG provides functionality that inserts the minimal gravitational couplings of the degrees of freedom specified in the model file, determines the couplings of the additional tensor and scalar degrees of freedom (the metric and the scalar field from the gravitational sector), and preconditions the resulting Lagrangian so that it can be passed to FeynRules, either directly or by outputting an updated FeynRules model file. The Feynman rules can then be determined and output through FeynRules, using existing universal output formats and interfaces to other analysis packages.

Abstract:The program FEYNRULES is a MATHEMATICA package developed to facilitate the implementation of new physics theories into high-energy physics tools. Starting from a minimal set of information such as the model gauge symmetries, its particle content, parameters and Lagrangian, FEYNRULES provides all necessary routines to extract automatically from the Lagrangian (that can also be computed semi-automatically for supersymmetric theories) the associated Feynman rules. These can be further exported to several Monte Carlo event generators through dedicated interfaces, as well as translated into a PYTHON library, under the so-called UFO model format, agnostic of the model complexity, especially in terms of Lorentz and/or color structures appearing in the vertices or of number of external legs. In this work, we briefly report on the most recent new features that have been added to FEYNRULES, including full support for spin-1 fermions, a new module allowing for the automated diagonalization of the particle spectrum and a new set of routines dedicated to decay width calculations.

Gauss Relations in Feynman Integrals

Abstract:Embedding Feynman integrals in Grassmannians, we express Feynman integrals as linear combinations of generalized hypergeometric functions. Here we present general methods to obtain Gauss relations among those generalized hypergeometric functions. The hypergeometric expressions of Feynman integral are analytically continued from some connected component to another by the Gauss inverse relations, then continued to the whole domain of definition by the Gauss-Kummer relations. The Laurant series of the Feynman integral around the time-space dimension $D=4$ is obtained by the Gauss adjacent relations where the coefficients of powers of $D-4$ are given as some finite linear combinations of hypergeometric functions with integer parameters. As an example, we illustrate how to use the method to obtain the analytic expression of the Feynman integral of one-loop self energy in its whole domain of definition.

Reflections on the renormalization procedure for gauge theories

Abstract:Various pieces of insight were needed to formulate the rules for working with gauge theories of the electro-magnetic, weak and strong forces. First, it was needed to understand how to formulate the Feynman rules. We had to learn that there are many different ways to derive them, and it was needed to know how different formulations of the gauge constraint lead to the same final results: the calculated values of the scattering amplitudes. The rules for dealing with the infinities that had to be subtracted were a big challenge, culminating in the discovery of the Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin symmetry. Fond recollections of the numerous discussions the author had with Raymond Stora on this topic are memorised here. We end with some reflections on the mathematical status of quantum field theories, and a letter sent by Stora to the author

Abstract:It is well known that perturbative solutions of the Langevin equation can be used to calculate correlation functions in stochastic quantization. However, this work is challenging due to the absence of generalized rules. In this paper, we address this difficulty by studying correlation functions up to certain orders for self-interacting scalar fields. Through the perturbative approach, we establish stochastic Feynman rules applicable to both finite and large fictitious times. Within this process, we introduce a fictitious-time ordering diagram, which serves as a keystone for finding all possible fictitious-time orderings and directly writing down an exact contribution for a given stochastic diagram with its fixed fictitious-time ordering.

Abstract:The fermion propagator in an arbitrary covariant gauge can be obtained from the Landau gauge result via a Landau–Khalatnikov–Fradkin transformation. This transformation can be written in a practically useful form in both configuration and momentum space. It is therefore possible to anticipate effects of a gauge transformation on the propagator’s analytic properties. These facts enable one to establish that if a critical number of flavours for chiral symmetry restoration and deconfinement exists in noncompact QED3, then its value is independent of the gauge parameter. This is explicated using simple forms for the fermion–photon vertex and the photon vacuum polarisation. The illustration highlights pitfalls that must be avoided in order to arrive at valid conclusions. Landau gauge is seen to be the covariant gauge in which the propagator avoids modification by a non-dynamical gauge-dependent exponential factor, whose presence can obscure truly observable features of the theory.

Abstract:The principle of local gauge invariance is applied to fractional wave equations and the interaction term is determined up to order $o(\bar{g})$ in the coupling constant $\bar{g}$. As a first application, based on the Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative definition, the fractional Zeeman effect is used to reproduce the baryon spectrum accurately. The transformation properties of the non relativistic fractional Schrödinger-equation under spatial rotations are investigated and an internal fractional spin is deduced.

Abstract:Singularity of the gauge condition n⋅∂n⋅A=0 at n⋅k=0 is studied here. Such singularity is different from that in axial gauge and can not be regularized through analytical continuation method. It is proved that construction of continuous and well defined gauge links is obstructed by the Gribov ambiguity. Thus continuous gauge conditions which are free from the Gribov ambiguity are essential in studies on nonlocal gauge invariant objects. The Faddeev-Popov determinant of the gauge n⋅∂n⋅A=0, which is solved explicitly here, behaves like a δ-functional of gauge potentials once singularities in the functional integral is neglected and the length of the space along nμ direction tends to infinity. As a sequence, perturbation series in the gauge n⋅∂n⋅A=0 are equivalent to those in axial gauge for objects which are free from these singularities. However, the equivalence between the gauge n⋅∂n⋅A=0 and axial gauge is nontrivial for objects suffering from these singularities. It is also demonstrated through explicit calculations that the equivalence for long distance objects is not the case in general, especially lattice calculations show significant distinctions among the axial gauge n⋅A=0, the Landau gauge ∂⋅A=0 and the gauge n⋅∂n⋅A=0 for long distance objects.

Non-Fermi liquid induced by U(1) gauge field interactions: a functional renormalization group analysis

Abstract:We study the non-Fermi-liquid state formed by an isotropic, degenerate Fermi gas in two spatial dimensions interacting with a U(1) gauge field. Our calculation uses the functional renormalization group (fRG) with a soft frequency cutoff for the fermions. The fRG scheme we employ takes account of the gauge symmetry, which imposes relations (modified Ward-Takahashi identities) between the couplings which constrain the RG flow. The critical exponents and couplings we find for the resulting non-Fermi liquid are mostly insensitive to whether or not we enforce the gauge symmetry constraints, which signifies either that the constraints are superfluous or that the frequency-cutoff scheme is particularly robust. The exception is the gauge-boson mass term, which is RG-relevant about the fixed point without the constraints, but is irrelevant when they are enforced. The latter is physically accurate, as a gauge symmetry cannot be spontaneously broken. In addition, we find $z=2$ and $\Sigma(\omega,k_F)\sim\omega^{1/2}$ for the boson dynamical exponent and scaling of the fermion self-energy, respectively. These results differ considerably from those of past works on the model, though we argue for their plausibility.

Feynman-Kac formula for fiber Hamiltonians in the relativistic Nelson model in two spatial dimensions

Abstract:In this proceeding we consider a translation invariant Nelson type model in two spatial dimensions modeling a scalar relativistic particle in interaction with a massive radiation field. As is well-known, the corresponding Hamiltonian can be defined with the help of an energy renormalization. First, we review a Feynman-Kac formula for the semigroup generated by this Hamiltonian proven by the authors in a recent preprint (where several matter particles and exterior potentials are treated as well). After that, we employ a few technical key relations and estimates obtained in our preprint to present an otherwise self-contained derivation of new Feynman-Kac formulas for the fiber Hamiltonians attached to fixed total momenta of the translation invariant system. We conclude by inferring an alternative derivation of the Feynman-Kac formula for the full translation invariant Hamiltonian.

Bjorken sum rule with analytic coupling

Abstract:We found good agreement between the experimental data obtained for the polarized Bjorken sum rule and the predictions of analytic QCD, as well as a strong difference between these data and the results obtained in the framework of perturbative QCD. To satisfy the limit of photoproduction and take into account Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn and Burkhardt-Cottingham sum rules, we develope new representation of the perturbative part of the polarized Bjorken sum rule.
