Abstract:We study the one-loop correction in Transverse-Momentum-Dependent(TMD) factorization for Drell-Yan processes at small transverse momentum of the lepton pair. We adopt the so-called subtractive approach, in which one can systematically construct contributions for subtracting long-distance effects represented by diagrams. The perturbative parts are obtained after the subtraction. We find that the perturbative coefficients of all structure functions in TMD factorization at leading twist are the same. The perturbative parts can also be studied with scattering of partons instead of hadrons. In this way, the factorization of many structure functions can only be examined by studying the scattering of multi-parton states, where there are many diagrams. These diagrams have no similarities to those treated in the subtractive approach. As an example, we use existing results of one structure function responsible for Single-Spin-Asymmetry, to show that these diagrams in the scattering of multi-parton states are equivalent to those treated in the subtractive approach after using Ward identity.

Abstract:We present the exact next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to dijet production at the LHC via quark contact interactions, with different color and chiral structures induced from new physics. Following the recent analysis of quark compositeness search at the LHC, we find that the NLO QCD corrections can lower the dijet cross sections by several tens percent, depending on the theory parameters and the selected kinematic regions, and reduce the dependence of the cross sections on factorization and renormalization scales. We also calculate the renormalization group (RG) improved NLO cross sections by summing over the large logarithms from the RG running of Wilson coefficients. Moreover, we investigate the NLO QCD effects on various experimental observables and exclusion limits of quark compositeness scale.

Abstract:We present the complete next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD and NLO electroweak (EW) corrections to the $W$-boson pair production associated with a hard jet at the LHC including the spin correlated $W$-boson leptonic decays. The dependence of the leading order (LO) and NLO corrected cross sections on the jet transverse momentum cut is investigated. In dealing with the subsequent resonant $W$-boson decays, we adopt the madspin method where the spin correlation effect is included. We also provide the LO and NLO corrected distributions of the transverse momenta and rapidities of final products. The results show that the NLO EW correction is significant in high transverse momentum region due to the EW Sudakov effect.
Full One-Loop Electroweak and NLO QCD Corrections to the Associated Production of Chargino and Neutralino at Hadron Colliders

Abstract:We study the process of the association production of chargino and neutralino including the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD and the complete one-loop electroweak corrections in the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model at the Fermilab Tevatron and the CERN Large Hadron Collider. In both the NLO QCD and one-loop electroweak calculations we apply the algorithm of the phase-space slicing method. We find that the NLO QCD corrections generally increase the Born cross sections, while the electroweak relative corrections decrease the Born cross section in most of the chosen parameter space. The NLO QCD and electroweak relative corrections typically have the values of about 32% and -8% at the Tevatron, and about 42% and -6% at the Large Hadron Collider, respectively. The results show that both the NLO QCD and the complete one-loop electroweak corrections to the processes p (p) over bar /pp ->chi(+/-)(1)chi(0)(2)+X are generally significant and should be taken into consideration in precision experimental analysis.

Abstract:We compute the O(α2αs2) perturbative corrections to inclusive jet production in electron–nucleon collisions. This process is of particular interest to the physics program of a future Electron Ion Collider (EIC). We include all relevant partonic processes, including deep-inelastic scattering contributions, photon-initiated corrections, and parton–parton scattering terms that first appear at this order. Upon integration over the final-state hadronic phase space we validate our results for the deep-inelastic corrections against the known next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) structure functions. Our calculation uses the N-jettiness subtraction scheme for performing higher-order computations, and allows for a completely differential description of the deep-inelastic scattering process. We describe the application of this method to inclusive jet production in detail, and present phenomenological results for the proposed EIC. The NNLO corrections have a non-trivial dependence on the jet kinematics and arise from an intricate interplay between all contributing partonic channels.
One-loop QCD corrections to heavy quark angular distributions in DIS

Abstract:In this paper we calculate the fully differential cross sections for inclusive heavy quark production in deep-inelastic scattering. We construct proper projection operators to give all possible azimuthal angle distributions of the heavy quark for unpolarized and longitudinally polarized scatterings. These projection operators are expressed in terms of momenta of incoming hadron, virtual photon and detected heavy quark. The azimuthal angle distributions are calculated to next-to-leading order of $\alpha_s$, i.e., $O(\alpha_s^2)$, in a unified way. Analytic expressions of the hard coefficients are given. Numerical results on future electron-ion colliders are also given. It is found that at least three azimuthal angle asymmetries can be more than $1\%$ in typical kinematical regions of these colliders.

Abstract:bstract We study the factorization and resummation prediction on the jet mass spectrum in one-jet inclusive production at the LHC based on soft-collinear effective theory. The soft function with anti- k T algorithm is calculated at next-to-leading order and its validity is demonstrated by checking the agreement between the expanded leading singular terms with the exact fixed-order result. The large logarithms ln n ( m J 2 / p T 2 ) and the global logarithms ln n ( s 4 / p T 2 ) in the process are resummed to all order at next-to-leading logarithmic and next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic level, respectively. The cross section is enhanced by about 23% from the next-to-leading logarithmic level to next-to-next-to- leading logarithmic level. Comparing our resummation predictions with those from Monte Carlo tool PYTHIA and ATLAS data at the 7 TeV LHC, we find that the peak positions of the jet mass spectra agree with those from PYTHIA at parton level, and the predictions of the jet mass spectra with non-perturbative effects are in coincidence with the ATLAS data. We also show the predictions at the future 13 TeV LHC.

Abstract:We show that the one-loop QCD correction to deeply-virtual Compton scattering can be factorized into the finite perturbative contributions and the collinearly-divergent terms, which correspond to the matrix elements of the off-forward parton distributions. As a by-product, we obtain the next-to-leading order coefficient functions in the generalized operator product expansion of two vector currents.

Abstract:We calculated the complete next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to the tt¯bb¯ production process at a γγ collider in the Standard Model (SM). The calculation of the one-loop QCD correction includes the evaluations of the hexagon and pentagon amplitudes. We studied the NLO QCD corrected total cross section, the distributions of transverse momenta of final top- and bottom-quark states, and the dependence of the cross section on renormalization scale μ. It shows that NLO QCD correction generally increases the LO cross section in our chosen parameter space, and the K-factor varies from 1.70 to 1.14 when colliding energy goes up from 400 GeV to 2 TeV. We find that the correction distinctly changes the distributions of transverse momenta of the final top- and bottom-quark states, and the NLO QCD correction obviously improves the independence of the cross section for process γγ→tt¯bb¯ on the renormalization scale.

Diffractive Light Quark Jet and Gluon Jet Production at Hadron Colliders in the Two-Gluon Exchange Model

Abstract:Massless diquark jet and gluon jet productions at large transverse momentum in the coherent diffractive processes at hadron colliders are studied in the two-gluon exchange parametrization of the Pomeron model. We use the helicity amplitude method to calculate the cross section formulas. We find that for the light quark jet and gluon jet production the diffractive process is related to t he differential off-diagonal gluon distribution function in the proton. We estimate the production rate for these processes at the Fermilab Tevatron by approximating the off-diagonal gluon distribution function by the usual diagonal gluon distribution in the proton. We also use the helicity amplitude method to calculate the diffractive charm jet production at hadron colliders, by which we reproduce the leading logarithmic approximation result of this process we previously calculated.

Abstract:In this paper we calculate the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD [O(αsα)] and electroweak (EW) [O(α4)] corrections to the WWW production at the LHC and deal with the subsequent leptonic decays from W bosons by adopting an improved narrow-width approximation which takes into account the spin correlation and finite-width effects. The NLO QCD correction from the real jet radiation is discussed, which significantly enhances the production rate, particularly in the high-energy region. We also provide the integrated cross section for the WWW production and various kinematic distributions of final products at the QCD+EW NLO. We find that the convergence of the perturbative QCD description can be improved by applying a hard jet veto in the event selection, but this jet veto would introduce a new source of theoretical uncertainty. The pure NLO QCD relative correction to the integrated cross section for the WWW production at the 14 TeV LHC is on the order of 30% in the jet-veto event selection scheme with p cut T, jet = 50 GeV, while the genuine NLO EW relative correction can reach about 15% in the inclusive event selection scheme. Our numerical results show that both the NLO QCD and NLO EW corrections should be taken into consideration in precision predictions. PACS: 12.15.Lk, 12.38.Bx, 14.70.Fm

Abstract:We resum a class of large Sudakov logarithms affecting Higgs-boson production in the exclusive one-jet bin at the LHC. We extend previous results by calculating the full one-loop soft function for this process, which extends the accuracy of the resummation to include the leading three logarithmic corrections at each order in the QCD coupling constant. We match this result to the next-to-leading order cross section and present a detailed numerical study assuming realistic LHC cuts. Careful attention is paid to the matching procedure, and to the theoretical uncertainties induced by residual scale variation. We find that the matched NLL' + NLO cross section has significantly smaller uncertainties than the fixed-order result, and can be used to alleviate the theoretical errors hindering current Higgs analyses at the LHC.
One-loop correction contributions in the decoupling limit of generalized Yukawa model

Abstract:We consider the generalized Yukawa model consisting of two Dirac fermions and two scalar fields. One of the scalars is assumed to be much heavier than the other particles, so it decouples at low energies. Low-energy effective Lagrangian (EL) of the model is derived. It describes the contributions of the heavy scalar into observables in the limit when this particle is decoupled. We consider the cross-sections of $s$- and $t$-channel processes, obtained within the complete model and its low-energy approximation. The contributions of the one-loop corrections in the cross-sections coming from light particles are analyzed. These are corrections to the parameters of the heavy boson and the contributions of the one-loop mixing of light and heavy scalars. We identify the ranges of Yukawa's couplings where the corrections are significant. We find that if the interaction between fermions and either light or heavy scalar is strong enough, the derived EL could not be applied for the description of the analyzed cross-sections even if the heavy scalar decouples. Implications of our results in searching for new particles beyond the Standard model are discussed.

Abstract:In this paper we present the full next-to-leading-order (NLO) QCD + NLO electroweak (EW) corrections to the Z-boson pair production in association with a hard jet at the LHC. The subsequent Z-boson leptonic decays are included by adopting both the naive narrow-width approximation and MADSPIN methods for comparison. Since the ZZ + jet production is an important background for single Higgs boson production and new physics searches at hadron colliders, the theoretical predictions with high accuracy for the hadronic production of ZZ + jet are necessary. We present the numerical results of the integrated cross section and various kinematic distributions of final particles, and conclude that it is necessary to take into account the spin correlation and finite-width effects from the Z-boson leptonic decays. We also find that the NLO EW correction is quantitatively non-negligible in matching the experimental accuracy at the LHC, particularly in the high-transverse-momentum region.

Abstract:We present a calculation of the bosonic contribution to the two-loop mixed QCD-electroweak scattering amplitudes for Z -boson production in association with one hard jet at hadron colliders. We employ a method to calculate amplitudes in the 't Hooft-Veltman scheme that reduces the amount of spurious non-physical information needed at intermediate stages of the computation, to keep the complexity of the calculation under control. We compute all the relevant Feynman integrals numerically using the Auxiliary Mass Flow method. We evaluate the two-loop scattering amplitudes on a two-dimensional grid in the rapidity and transverse momentum of the Z boson, which has been designed to yield a reliable numerical sampling of the boosted- Z region. This result provides an important building block for improving the theoretical modelling of a key background for monojet searches at the LHC.

Abstract:We present the complete set of leading-color two-loop contributions required to obtain next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) QCD corrections to three-jet production at hadron colliders. We obtain analytic expressions for a generating set of finite remainders, valid in the physical region for three-jet production. The analytic continuation of the known Euclidean-region results is determined from a small set of numerical evaluations of the amplitudes. We obtain analytic expressions that are suitable for phenomenological applications and we present a C++ library for their efficient and stable numerical evaluation.

Abstract:Radiative corrections to the process e+ e- to t tbar are calculated in one-loop approximation of the Standard Model. There exist results from several groups. This talk provides further comparisons of the complete elektroweak contributions, including hard bremsstrahlung. The excellent final agreement of the different groups allows to continue by working on a code for an event generator for TESLA and an extension to e+ e- to 6 fermions.

QCD Corrections to Hadronic $Wγ$ Production with Non-standard $WWγ$ Couplings

Abstract:The process $p \pbar \rightarrow W^{\pm}\gamma + X \rightarrow \ell^\pm \nu \gamma + X$ is calculated to ${\cal O}(\alpha_s)$ for general $CP$ conserving $WW\gamma$ couplings. At the Tevatron center of mass energy, the QCD corrections to $W\gamma$ production are modest, and the Born and inclusive ${\cal O}(\alpha_s)$ cross sections have similar sensitivities to the effects of anomalous couplings. At supercollider energies, the inclusive QCD corrections are large at high photon transverse momenta, reducing the sensitivity to non-standard $WW\gamma$ couplings by up to a factor~2. The size of the QCD corrections can be reduced significantly, and a large fraction of the sensitivity lost can be regained, if a jet veto is imposed.

QCD Corrections to Spin Correlations in e − e + → tt̄ process at the NLC

Abstract:Using a Generic spin basis, we present a general formalism of one-loop radiative corrections to the spin correlations in the top quark pair production at the Next Linear Collider, and calculate the O(αs) QCD corrections under the soft gluon approximation. We find that: (a) in Off-diagonal basis, the O(αs) QCD corrections to e−Le + ( e−Re + ) scattering process increase the differential cross sections of the dominant spin component t↑t̄↓ (t↓t̄↑) by ∼ 30% and ∼ (0.1% − 3%) depending on the scattering angle for √ s = 400GeV and 1TeV , respectively; (b) in Off-diagonal basis (Helicity basis), the dominant spin component makes up 99.8% (∼ 53% ) of the total cross section at both tree and one-loop level for √ s = 400GeV , and the Off-diagonal basis therefore remains to be the optimal spin basis after the inclusion of O(αs) QCD corrections.
