Abstract:A gas-liquid chromatographic (GLC) method was developed for the determination of residues of resmethrin ((5-benzyl-3-furyl)methyl cis-trans-(+/-)-2,2-dimethyl-3-(2-methylpropenyl)-cyclopropanecarboxylate) in corn, cornmeal, flour, and wheat. The commodity, fortified with resmethrin, was extracted by tumbling with pentane and transferred to acetonitrile, the fat was partitioned off, and the sample was chromatographed with 3% ethyl acetate in pentane on Florisil containing 0.5% water. The resmethrin residue was determined by GLC with a flame ionization detector. The results were compared with known standards that had undergone the same cleanup procedures. The method was sensitive to concentrations of resmethrin to 0.2 ppm, recoveries averaged 83%, and reproducibility was good.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To develop an analytical method and quality control for determination of zolmitriptan and related substances.METHODS:Zolmitriptan and related substances were separated and determined on a shimadzu CLC-C(8) column (150 mm x 6 mm, 10 microm) with a mobile phase of acetonitrile-10 mmol/L phosphate buffer (25:75 pH 7.5) and a flow-rate of 1 ml/min; the UV-VIS detector was operated at 229 nm.RESULT:The limit of detection for the related substances was 0.5 ng on the zolmitriptan basis (S/N >3). Linear calibration curve was gene rated from 4 - 40 microg/ml with a correlation coefficient of 0.9999. The recovery rate of zolmitriptan was 99.1% with a standard deviation of 0.2%. The results of HPLC method were consistent with those of nonaqueous titration method.CONCLUSION:HPLC method is a rapid sensitive and accurate method for the determination of zolmitriptan and its related substances.

Abstract:An analytical method for determination for tebufenozide,methoxyfenozide and Fuxian residue in cabbage,pakchoi and tomato by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) was developed.Samples were extracted by blending with acidic methanol/water.The extract was purified first by n-hexane to remove some fatty impurities,then extracted with dichloromethane to discard water-soluble impurities,and finally cleaned by Florisil column chromatography.The HPLC conditions : Agilent HC-C18,methanol-water=75:25(V/V) as mobile phase,and UV detection at 230nm.The average fortified recoveries for tebufenozide,methoxyfenozide and Fuxian in cabbage,pakchoi and tomato samples were 76.9%～105%.Relative standard deviation was less than 10%,and the limit of detection of three pesticides in cabbage,pakchoi and tomato samples were 0.05mg/kg,respectively.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To establish a RP-HPLC method for the determination of total luteolin-glucosides content in Elsholtzia blanda Benth extracts (EBBE). METHODS The luteolin content was determined on an ODS C18 column, the mobile phase consisted of 0.01 mol· L-1 phosphorate buffer (pH 2.0) -tetrahydrofuran-isopropynol (70:30:5) as mobile phase with detection wavelength 360 nm. RESULTS The recoveries of the method were 95.56% - 105.58% , and the assay was liner at concentration from 2 to 400 μg·mL-1( r = 0.999 9) .The detection limits was 50 ng·mL-1(S/N≥3) , the limits of quantification was( 2.40±0.13)μg·mL-1,the content of luteolin in EBBE was (3.12±0.15)% . CONCLUSION This method is simple, accurate and can be used to optimize extraction procedure and determine the content of luteolin-glucosides in Elsholtzia blanda Benth extracts.

Abstract:We developed an analytical method to simultaneously determine 2,6-di-tert-butyl-hydroxytoluene (BHT) and its four transformation products in indoor dust and sediment samples. BHT, 2,6-di-tert-butylcyclohexa-2,5-diene-1,4-dione (BHT-Q), and 3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde (BHT-CHO) were measured by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) after ultrasonic extraction with hexane/dichloromethane (1:3), while 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-(hydroxymethyl) phenol (BHT-OH) and 3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzoic acid (BHT-COOH) were derivatized using N, O-bis (trimethylsilyl) trifluoroacetamide before GC–MS analysis. The limits of detection (LODs) and quantification (LOQs) of the developed method were 0.02–0.34 and 0.08–1.14ngg−1. The recoveries for BHT and its transformation products were 71.1–118% with relative standard deviations <10.6% at different spiking levels. The method was applied to indoor dust and sediment samples, showing that BHT was found in all samples with concentrations being 0.22–47.37μgg−1 in dust and 0.09–6.93μgg−1 in sediment. BHT-Q was the dominant transformation product, followed by BHT-CHO, BHT-OH, and BHT-COOH. Different metabolite profiles for BHT indicated various transformation pathways, making it necessary to study their transformation mechanism and environmental behaviors in the future studies.

Abstract:A method based on liquid critical condition chromatography (LCCC) was established for the quantification of hydroxy-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) in polymer blends. The critical conditions for HTPB were investigated using a C18 column as the stationary phase, and tetrahydrofuran (THF)-acetonitrile (ACN) or THF-water as the mobile phase. Irrespective of the relative molecular mass, HTPB was eluted under the critical conditions of THF. ACN (70. 7 : 29. 3, v / v) or THF. water (92 :8, v / v). Under the optimal conditions, the HTPB exhibited satisfactory linearity in the range of 46. 7- 216. 4 mg / L, with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0. 997. The limit of detection reached 4. 2 mg / L. The recoveries of HTPB from the prepared mixtures of HTPB and mineral oil ranged from 89. 2% to 101. 1%, with a relative standard derivation of less than 0. 66% (n = 6). This method was successfully applied to the quantitative analysis of HTPB in a commercial polyurethane adhesive, and 26. 6% of HTPB was detected in the product. This LCCC method is simple, convenient, highly selective, and reliable for quality control and failure studies of formulated products.

Abstract:A new method was developed for direct determination of biphenol A residue by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometer. Sample was concentrated by solid phase extraction column. Selection reaction monitoring technique via negative electrospray ionization was used, and quantitative ion pairs were m/z 227 m/z 132 and m/z 114. Mobile phase was methanol and water mixture (3:7), with flow rate 500μl/min. The linear range is 18.0～1800.0 ng/ml with a detection limit of 1.8 ng/ml, and the recovery is 91%. Cornparison resuts of UV and LC-MS2 showed that this method is simple, rapid, sensitive and accurate.

Abstract:In this work, we report a rapid analytical method for the determination of trace formaldehyde in cosmetics on a 12.5 mm C-18 guard column. The shortest time (0.5 min) was obtained for one separation with 1.5 mL min(-1) of methanol-water 50 : 50 (v/v) as the mobile phase at a column temperature of 30 degrees C. A linear response between peak area and the concentration of formaldehyde was obtained over the range 0.1 to 20 mg L-1 with a relative standard deviation of 1.4% (n = 10) at the concentration of 1.0 mg L-1 and a detection limit of 5.1 mg L-1. The confirmation assay by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry indicated that there was no interfering effect from other carbonyl compounds. The proposed method was applied for the determination of formaldehyde residue in cosmetics at the mg L-1 level. Free formaldehyde up to 27 mg kg(-1) was found in cosmetics and the spike recovery at the spiked levels of 1.0 and 10.0 mg L-1 varying from 92% to 105% was also obtained. The difference between the values determined by the proposed method and the standard spectrophotometric method was below 3.7%. The results proved the accuracy and precision of the method, showing potential for the routine analysis of formaldehyde residue.

Abstract:The method for separation and determination of tyramine by reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography has been established. The effects of mobile phase on mechanism of separation based on the ion interaction are discussed. Using C8 alkyl bonded phase and 40% methanol-water solution containing Trisperchlorate as pH buffer (adjusted pH to 7.9) and ion interaction reagent and applying p-toluene sulfonamide as internal standard substance, the tyramine obtained from decarboxylation of p-tyrosine was determined. The RSD of determination was 0.66%(n = 11). The recoveries of sample were between 99.33% and 100.38%.

Abstract:In this study,the determination method for butachlor residues in soils was improved.Under laboratory conditions,ultrasonic extraction,florisil column(wet and dry filled column) for purification and separation were used.Finally,the samples were analyzed by a gas chromatography(GC) equipped with a capillary column.Average recovery of butachlor in soils was 97.46%,detective limit was 0.002 mg kg-1,and RSD was less than 10%.This method had accurate qualitative and quantitative identification and excluded interference of organic pollutants in determining butachlor residues.At the same time,the method reduced the amount of organic reagent,which can be applied in analyses of butachlor in soils.

Abstract:Although the gas chromatographic separation of the isomers of BHC was demonstrated two decades ago, the present AOAC method of analysis of BHC for gamma-isomer (lindane) content is based on a separation carried out on a liquid chromatographic partition column. A method of analysis has been developed that uses an OV-210 column for separation of the gamma-isomer from the other isomers and impurities in technical BHC. Di-n-propyl phthalate was chosen as an internal standard. The same system allows quantitation of lindane in lotion and shampoo after these products are extracted with ethyl acetate-isooctane (1 + 4). The analytical methods were subjected to a collaborative trial with 10 laboratories. The coefficient of variation for technical BHC was 2.83%. For the water-dispersible powder and emulsifiable concentrate, the coefficients of variation were 2.89% and 4.62%, respectively. Coefficients of variation for 1% lindane lotion and shampoo were 4.36% and 11.92%, respectively. The method has been adopted official first action.

Abstract:An ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UPLC ) method was established for determination of formaldehyde in fragrance for household and personal products. After derived with 2,4-dinitrophenyl hydrazine (DNPH),the formaldehyde in the fragrance was determined by UPLC. The separation was performed on an Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse Plus C18 column (2. 1 mm × 100 mm,1. 8 μm). The mobile phase was consisted of acetonitrile and water (volume ratio of 60: 40)with a flow rate of 0. 3 mL/ min. The wavelength of UV detector was set at 352 nm. A good linearity of formaldehyde in the range of 0. 1 ~ 10 mg / L is obtained and the detection limit is about 0. 03 mg / L. The spiked recoveries are ranged within 96. 3% ~104. 1%,with relative standard deviations of 0. 2% ~ 1. 4% (n = 3). 10 batches of fragrance for household and personal products were determined using the established method and five batches are found containing formaldehyde. However,the content of formaldehyde in the samples is much lower than the limit specified by Hygienic Standard for Cosmetics.

Abstract:The optimum HPLC conditions for determining the concentrations of THO and TB in methanol solution were obtained with Symmetry C_(18) as column,acetonitrile-water(1∶9) as fluid phase,275 nm as determining wavelength and 1 mL/min as flow rate.The linear regression equation was y=3.186×10~6x-1.025×10~5(r=0.9999,injection amount 0.09～1.35 μg) for THO and y=3.011×10~6x-4.092×10~4(r=0.9998,injection amount 0.036～0.36 μg) for TB.

Abstract:A sensitive and reliable method was developed to determine methylene blue (MB) and its metabolite residues, including azure A (AZA), azure B (AZB), and azure C (AZC) in aquatic products by HPLC–MS/MS. The samples were extracted by acetonitrile and cleaned up by alumina-neutral (ALN) cartridges. The analytes were separated on a Sunfire C18 column (150 mm × 2.1 mm, 5 μm). The method was validated according to the European criteria of Commission Decision 2002/657/CE. Good linearity between 1–500 μg/L was obtained with correlation coefficients (R2) greater than 0.99. The limit of quantification (LOQ) was 1.0 μg/kg. The average recoveries at three levels of each compound (1, 5, and 10 μg/kg) were demonstrated to be in the range of 71.8–97.5%, with relative standard deviations (RSDs) from 1.05% to 8.63%. This method was suitable for the detection of methylene blue and its metabolite residues in aquatic products.

Abstract:Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) and butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) are two antioxidants that have been extensively used in many applications. Both are well known for their debatable health risks due to their multiple intake sources. Therefore, conservative limits are set for them in different regulations adapted to the matrices in which they exist. Here we present a simple spectrofluorimetric method for the determination of BHT and BHA based on their native fluorescence and synchronous scanning mode. The type of solvent and the interval between emission and excitation wavelengths were carefully optimized. Under the optimized conditions, good linearities were obtained between the emission intensity and the corresponding concentrations of BHT and BHA over the range of 3–18 μg/mL and 0.1–7 μg/mL, respectively with a good correlation coefficient (r > 0.99). The limits of detection were 0.9 and 0.02 μg/mL, and the quantification limits were 3 and 0.05 μg/mL for BHT and BHA, respectively. The suggested procedure was validated according to ICH guidelines Q2 (R1). Furthermore, the method's greenness was assessed by three different methods, and it proved to be eco-reasonable. The method was successfully applied to the determination of BHT and BHA in pharmaceutical formulations. We also applied the suggested method for monitoring the residual BHA in conventional, powdered milk and butter, with good recovery in spiked samples.

[Determination of 2,4-Dihydroxybenzophenone in Mouse Brain by High Performance Liquid Chromatography].

Abstract:OBJECTIVETo optimize and establish the experimental methods for the determination of 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone (BP-1) in mouse brain.METHODSBP-1 was determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and separated by Waters Symmetry C18 (4.6 mm×250 mm, 5 μm) using isocratic elution, and the sample preparation conditions were optimized by orthogonal experiment design. The mobile phase was methanol-water (volume ratio 3:1) containing 3% (volume fraction) acetic acid (pH 3.40) at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min, and ultraviolet (UV) detection wavelength was set at 290 nm. Retention time was used for qualitative analysis and internal standard method for quantitative analysis.RESULTSUnder the optimized experimental conditions, the calibration curve was linear with a correlation coefficient of 0.999 8 over the concentration range of 0.2-10.0 mg/L. The recoveries of BP-1 were between 96.8% and 104.5%. The intra-day and inter-day precision of BP-1 were 3.5%-5.7% and 4.5%-6.4%, respectively. The extraction recoveries of BP-1 at three concentrations (0.5, 2.0, 8.0 mg/L) in the mouse brain were 90.5%, 89.5%, and 97.7%, and the matrix effect of BP-1 at these three concentrations were 102.9%, 102.7%, and 90.9%, respectively.CONCLUSIONThe method is simple, accurate, and suitable for determination of the contents of BP-1 in mouse brain.

Abstract:A high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometries(HPLC-MS/MS) method has been developed for the determination of tralomethrin residue in plant-based foods.The sample extracted by ethyl acetate was finally dissolved in the mobile phase after the procedure of being concentrated and purified.Chromatographic separation was achieved by HPLC and the detection was performed by tandem mass spectrometry under the mode of multiple reaction monitoring.Results showed that in the range of 20~1000 μg/L the standard curve of tralomethrin was in good linearity,and the correlation coefficient was 0.9998.The recoveries for tralomethrin at the addition of three levels(0.01,0.02,0.1mg/kg for cereals and 0.005,0.01,0.05 mg/kg for fruits and vegetables) were 81.6%~92.1% and the relative standard deviations(RSD) were between 4.0% and 13%(n=6).The limits of quantation(S/N≥ 10) by the present method for tralomethrin were found to be 0.01 mg/kg for cereals and 0.005 mg/kg for fruits and vegetables.

Abstract:A new developed gas chromatographic-high resolution mass spectrometric method for the sensitive simultaneous determination of trans-chrysanthemumdicarboxylic acid, cis- and trans-3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropane carboxylic acid, cis-3-(2,2-dibromovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropane carboxylic acid, 3-phenoxybenzoic acid and 4-fluoro-3-phenoxybenzoic acid in human urine is presented. These metabolites are biomarkers for an exposure to pyrethrum, allethrin, resmethrin, phenothrin, tetramethrin, cyfluthrin, cypermethrin, deltamethrin or permethrin. Therefore, with the help of this method for the first time a complete assessment of exposure to pyrethroid and pyrethrin insecticides is possible. After acid hydrolysis and extraction with tert-butyl-methyl-ether the residue is derivatized with 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropanol and analyzed by GC/HRMS in electron impact mode (detection limits < 0.1 microg/l) as well as in negative chemical ionization mode (detection limit < 0.05 microg/l urine).
