Abstract:Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a powerful tool in many fields, and its ability to change the practice of urban architecture is increasingly recognized. This article provides a comprehensive review of the use of AI in the construction of public buildings, highlighting the achievements, challenges and future prospects. It covers all areas of civil engineering, including review, analysis and design, construction management, geotechnical engineering, transportation planning and construction supervision. AI techniques such as machine learning and genetic algorithms are used in analysis and design to optimize processes, predict the behavior of materials, and improve healthcare. Construction management has seen the deployment of AI in project scheduling, resource allocation, risk assessment and security management. Additionally, AI-based geotechnical applications provide accurate estimation of soil properties, soil damage and foundation construction. Uses advanced technology to facilitate transportation planning, traffic forecasting, intelligent transportation, and transportation improvements. It also played an important role in the monitoring and maintenance of public infrastructure, including AI, bridge inspection, integrity assessment of pipelines, and early detection of model defects through image processing and data analysis. Despite significant progress, many challenges remain for the widespread use of AI in civil engineering. These challenges include issues with data availability and effectiveness, the definition of AI models, ethical considerations, and the need for collaborative partnerships. Overcoming these challenges will require the collaboration of researchers, practitioners and policy makers. In conclusion, the application of AI in civil engineering demonstrates its ability to improve the efficiency, safety and sustainability of infrastructure systems. This review provides an overview of the current state of knowledge in civil engineering, identifies challenges, and suggests future research directions. The insights presented in this document are designed to encourage further research and innovation to facilitate the integration of AI into civil engineering applications.
