Abstract:This study investigated the relationship between emotional intelligence and student burnout. For this purpose, quantitative research design was employed. The study included a sample of intermediate students of colleges in the Gujranwala district. The sample included 250 students from different classes, i.e., Biology, Mathematics, and Computer Science. Trait Emotional Intelligence scale (TEIQue) by K.V. Petrides and Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS) were used to collect data for measuring emotional intelligence and burnout, respectively. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 26. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to find answers to the study objectives. The results indicated that students had higher levels of emotional intelligence and lower levels of burnout. It was found that emotional intelligence and burnout have a strong negative correlation. Lastly, emotional intelligence significantly affects the level of burnout among students. This study is helpful for students, college principals, and teachers to understand the relationship between emotional intelligence and burnout and how different parameters of emotional intelligence can assist in reducing burnout.
