Abstract:The article explores the topic of privatization of public space occurring in the process of contemporary urban planning policies, on the example of city of Zagreb in Croatia. The division between public and private in the European cities, particularly post-socialist cities, has historically been rather clear. However, with the change of socio-economic system, continuous development and adopting the contemporary planning practices such as public-private partnerships, the line between public and private is becoming blurred. The article analyses current practices and explores the possible risk for the city in case these practices prevail.
