Abstract:The status of theoretical studies of the $H$ dibaryon is reviewed. Some recent developments including the effect of the instanton induced interaction and the QCD sum rule results are discussed in detail.

Abstract:We perform a coupled--channel calculation of the H dibaryon within a chiral constituent quark model. The problem is solved within a quark model constrained by the experimental data of strangeness --1 and --2 two--baryon systems. We examine in detail the role played by the different contributions of the interacting potential as well as the number of coupled channels considered. Special attention has been payed to the parameter dependence, flavor symmetry breaking and spatial configurations. The value extracted for the binding energy of the H dibaryon, being compatible with the restrictions imposed by the Nagara event, falls within a plausible extrapolation of recent lattice QCD results.

Abstract:In this chapter, the current status on baryon-baryon interactions such as nuclear forces in lattice Quantum ChromoDynamics (QCD) is reviewed. In studies of baryon-baryon interactions in lattice QCD, the most reliable method so far is the potential method, proposed by the Hadrons to Atomic nuclei from Lattice QCD (HAL QCD) collaboration, whose formulation, properties and extensions are explained in detail. Using the HAL QCD potential method, potentials between nucleons (proton and neutron, denoted by $N$) in the derivative expansion have been extracted in various cases. The lattice QCD results shown in this chapter include a Leading Order (LO) central potential in the parity-even $NN(^1S_0)$ channel, LO central and tensor potentials in the parity-even $NN(^3S_1$-$^3D_1)$ channel, and a Next-to-Leading Order (NLO) spin-orbit potential as well as LO potentials in the parity-odd channels. Preliminary results at the almost physical pion and kaon masses, in addition to exploratory studies on three-nucleon potentials, are presented. Interactions between generic baryons including hyperons, made of one or more strange quarks as well as up and down quarks, have also been investigated. Universal properties of potentials between baryons become manifest in the flavor SU(3) symmetric limit, where masses of three quarks, up, down and strange, are all equal. In particular, it is observed that one bound state, traditionally called the $H$-dibaryon, appears in the flavor singlet representation of SU(3). A fate of the $H$ dibaryon is also discussed with flavor SU(3) breaking taken into account at the almost physical point. Finally, various kinds of dibaryons, bound or resonate states of two baryons, including charmed dibaryons, have been predicted by lattice QCD simulations at the almost physical point.

Abstract:The mass of the lowest spin-zero, strangeness-$(-2)$ flavor singlet state in the dibaryon sector has been calculated in quenched QCD on $16^3\times32$ and $24^3\times32$ lattices at $\beta=5.85$ to study whether the energy of the proposed $H$ dibaryon is near or below the $\Lambda\Lambda$ threshold. Preliminary results indicate that finite lattice volume artifacts overestimate the binding, and that on the largest lattice $m_H$ is of the order of $100\MeV$ above the $\Lambda\Lambda$ threshold.

QCD Chemistry: Remarks on Diquarks

Abstract:In connection with recent discoveries of heavy-quark containing exotic states publications discussing $Qq$ diquarks ($Q,q$ stand for a heavy and light quarks, respectively) proliferated in the literature. After a brief summary of the diquark concept I review various general reasons why the $Qq$ diquark (with sufficinetly heavy $Q$) does not exist. Then I argue (this is the focus of my talk) that the most direct way to confirm non-existence of the $Qq$ diquarks is the study of pre-asymptotic corrections in the inclusive decays of $Qqq$ baryons, e.g. $\Lambda_b$. Since the $c$ quarks are much lighter than $b$, namely, $m_b^2/m_c^2\sim 11$, traces of the $cq$ attraction in the color anti-triplet spin-0 state may or may not be present in the $cqq$ baryons.

Abstract:We systematically construct I (J(P)) = 0(3(+)) six-quark local interpolating currents without derivative operators. We discuss the best choice of operator and select three Delta-Delta-like operators to perform QCD sum rule analyses to calculate the mass of the d*(2380). The mass extracted from this analysis is M-d* = 2.4 +/- 0.2 GeV, consistent with the d*(2380) mass observed by the WASA detector at COSY. We also obtain a sum rule lower mass bound M-d* > 2.25 GeV. We also consider the effect of mixing of singlet dibaryon fields with the same quantum numbers, and perform the QCD sum rule analysis of the mixed interpolating current and extract the mass of the d*(2380) and its lower mass bound. With optimized mixing parameters, we find that the mixed current does not change the numerical result significantly.

Abstract:We explore the connection between pentaquarks and dibaryons composed of three diquarks in the framework of the diquark model. With the available experimental data on $H$ we estimate the Pauli blocking and annihilation effects and constrain the $P=\ensuremath{-}\text{pentaquark}\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}SU{(3)}_{F}$ singlet mass. Using the ${\ensuremath{\Theta}}^{+}$ pentaquark mass, we estimate $P=\ensuremath{-}\text{dibaryon}\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\text{mass}$
Properties of $Q^{5}q$ dibaryons

Abstract:We investigate heavy flavor dibaryons with five heavy quarks $Q$ ($Q=\{c,b\}$) and one light quark $q$ ($q=\{u,d,s\}$), namely the $Q^{5}q$ dibaryons. In the framework of an extended chromomagnetic model, we systematically study the mass spectrum of these dibaryons. We find no stable state below the corresponding baryon-baryon thresholds. In addition to the analysis of the masses, we also study their two body decay properties by estimating the relative width ratios of the decay channels. We hope our study will be of help for future experiments.

Abstract:Dibaryons are the simplest system in which the baryon-baryon interaction, and hence the underlying quark-quark interaction, can be studied in a clear way. Although the only dibaryon known today is the deuteron (and possibly the $d^*$), fully heavy dibaryons are good candidates for bound states because in such systems the kinetic energy is small and the high symmetry of the wave function favours binding. In this study, the possible existence of $\Omega_{ccc}\Omega_{ccc}$ and $\Omega_{bbb}\Omega_{bbb}$ dibaryons is investigated in the framework of a constituent quark model that satisfactorily describes the deuteron, the $d^*(2380)$ and the $NN$ interaction. $J^P=0^+$ candidates are found in both systems with binding energies of the order of MeV.

Abstract:When the fourth generation of quarks have sufficiently small mixing with ordinary standard-model quarks, the hadrons made up from these quarks can be long-lived enough. We analyze the 1/2(+) baryon states containing fourth-generation quarks and standard-model quarks, i.e. the charm or bottom quarks, in the QCD sum rules approach. Considering the perturbative and two gluon condensate contributions in the calculation, we give the numerical results of the masses and pole residues.

Abstract:The slow non-equilibrium dynamics of the Edwards-Anderson spin glass model on a hierarchical lattice is studied by means of a coarse-grained description based on renormalization concepts. We evaluate the isothermal aging properties and show how the occurrence of temperature chaos is connected to a gradual loss of memory when approaching the overlap length. This leads to rejuvenation effects in temperature shift protocols and to rejuvenation--memory effects in temperature cycling procedures with a pattern of behavior parallel to experimental observations.

Abstract:In this paper, we take the point of view that the O++ nonet mesons below 1 GeV are diquark-antidiquark states (qq)((3) over bar) ((q) over bar(q) over bar (3) and seek to determine their masses in the framework of the QCD sum rules approach with the interpolating currents constructed from scalar-scalar-type and pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar-type diquark pairs respectively. The numerical results indicate that the O++ nonet mesons may have two possible diquark-antidiquark substructures.

Abstract:The ΞN interaction plays an important role in understanding the long-anticipated H dibaryon. Recent lattice QCD calculations verified the attractive nature of the ΞN interaction. On the other hand, whether it is strong enough to generate a bound state remains inconclusive. In this work, assuming it can generate a weakly bound state, we study the yields of the ΞN dibaryon for different binding energies in pp collisions at 7 TeV using the coalescence model and the transport model PACIAE. The yields are estimated first numerically and then analytically, adopting a Yukawa-type wave function. Abstract:A pair of triply charmed baryons, Omega(ccc)Omega(ccc), is studied as an ideal dibaryon system by (2 + 1)-flavor lattice QCD with nearly physical light-quark masses and the relativistic heavy-quark action with the physical charm quark mass. The spatial baryon-baryon correlation is related to their scattering parameters on the basis of the HAL QCD method. The Omega(ccc)Omega(ccc) in the S-1(0) channel, taking into account the Coulomb repulsion with the charge form factor of Omega(ccc), leads to the scattering length a(0)(C) similar or equal to -19 fm and the effective range r(eff)(C) similar or equal to -0.45 fm. The ratio r(eff)(C)/a(0)(C) similar or equal to -0.024, whose magnitude is considerably smaller than that of the dineutron (-0.149), indicates that Omega(ccc)Omega(ccc) is located in the unitary regime.

Abstract:We provide an inkling of recent progress in hadron physics made using QCD's Dyson-Schwinger equations, reviewing: the notion of in-hadron condensates and a putative solution of a gross problem with the cosmological constant; a symmetry-preserving computation that simultaneously correlates the masses of meson and baryon ground- and excited-states, and contributes to a resolution of the conundrum of the Roper resonance; and a prediction for the Q(2)-dependence of u- and d-quark Dirac and Pauli form factors in the proton, which exposes the critical role played by diquark correlations within the nucleon.
Moving doubly heavy baryon in a strongly coupled plasma from holography

Abstract:Gauge/gravity duality is used to study properties of the doubly heavy baryon $(\mathrm{QQq})$ at finite rapidity and temperature in the heavy-ion collision. We investigate the impact of rapidity on string breaking and screening of $\mathrm{QQq}$, and compare these effects with the results for $\rm Q\bar{Q}$ in detail. Computations reveal that the string-breaking distances of $\mathrm{QQq}$ and $\rm Q\bar{Q}$ are close in the confined state and the effects of rapidity and temperature on the string breaking are not significant. An interesting result shows that $\mathrm{QQq}$ cannot be found at high enough temperatures and rapidities; however, $\rm Q\bar{Q}$ can exist under any conditions as long as the separation distance is small enough. Besides, the screening distances of $\mathrm{QQq}$ and $\rm Q\bar{Q}$ are also compared at finite rapidity and temperature. Based on the above analysis, we infer that $\rm Q\bar{Q}$ is more stable than $\mathrm{QQq}$ at finite rapidity and temperature.

Abstract:We report the latest results on the search for the QCD critical point in the QCD phase diagram through high energy heavy-ion collisions. The measurements discussed are based on the higher moments of the net-proton multiplicity distributions in heavy-ion collisions. A non-monotonic variation in the product of kurtosis times the variance of the net-proton distribution is observed as a function of the collision energy with 3$\sigma$ significance. We also discuss the results of the thermal model in explaining the measured particle yield ratios in heavy-ion collisions and comparison of the different variants of hardon resonance gas model calculation to the data on higher moments of net-proton distributions. We end with a note that the upcoming programs in high baryon density regime at various experimental facilities will complete the search for the QCD critical point through heavy-ion collisions.

Abstract:We calculate the weak decay form factors of doubly-heavy baryons using three-point QCD sum rules. The Cutkosky rules are used to derive the double dispersion relations. We include perturbative contributions and condensation contributions up to dimension five, and point out that the perturbative contributions and condensates with lowest dimensions dominate. An estimate of a part of the gluon–gluon condensates show that it plays a less important role. With these form factors at hand, we present a phenomenological study of semileptonic decays. The future experimental facilities can test these predictions, and deepen our understanding of the dynamics in the decays of doubly-heavy baryons.

Abstract:The current status of global QCD analysis of parton distribution functions of the nucleon is reviewed. Recent progress made in determining various features of the parton structure of the nucleon, as well as outstanding open questions are discussed. These include: the small-$x$ and large-$x$ behavior of the partons, particularly the gluon; the differentiation of $u$ and $d$ quarks; the strangeness sea ($s+\bar{s}$), the strangeness asymmetry ($s-\bar{s}$); and the heavy quark distributions $c$ and $b$. Important issues about assessing the uncertainties of parton distributions and their physical predictions are considered. These developments are all critical for the physics programs of HERA II, Tevatron Run II, RHIC, and LHC.

Abstract:Recent progress in understanding the strong physics regime of QCD is described. The role played by condensates, particularly $q{\bar q}$, in breaking chiral symmetry and generating constituent masses for $u$ and $d$ quarks is reviewed. The influence this has on hadrons with vacuum quantum numbers is emphasised. What we know of this sector from recent data on $\phi$-radiative decays and from $D$ decays to light hadrons is discussed. The key to further understanding is comprehensive analyses of such data, including that planned for Hall D at Jefferson Laboratory.
