Abstract:Based on recent results obtained by the authors on the inverse scattering method of the vector nonlinear Schrödinger equation with integrable boundary conditions, we discuss the factorization of the interactions of N-soliton solutions on the half-line. Using dressing transformations combined with a mirror image technique, factorization of soliton-soliton and soliton-boundary interactions is proved. We discover a new object, which we call reflection map, that satisfies a set-theoretical reflection equation which we also introduce. Two classes of solutions for the reflection map are constructed. Finally, basic aspects of the theory of set-theoretical reflection equations are introduced.

Abstract:We present resent results regarding invertible, non-degenerate solutions of the set-theoretic Yang-Baxter and reflection equations. We recall the notion of braces and we present and prove various fundamental properties required for the solutions of the set theoretic Yang-Baxter equation. We then restrict our attention on involutive solutions and consider lambda parametric set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation and we extract the associated quantum algebra. We also discuss the notion of the Drinfeld twist for involutive solutions and their relation to the Yangian. We next focus on reflections and we derive the associated defining algebra relations for R-matrices being Baxterized solutions of the symmetric group. We show that there exists a ``reflection'' finite sub-algebra for some special choice of reflection maps.

Abstract:The Quantum Inverse Scattering Method is a scheme for solving integrable models in $1+1$ dimensions, building on an $R$-matrix that satisfies the Yang--Baxter equation and in terms of which one constructs a commuting family of transfer matrices. In the standard formulation, this $R$-matrix acts on a tensor product of vector spaces. Here, we relax this tensorial property and develop a framework for describing and analysing integrable models based on planar algebras, allowing non-separable \textit{$R$-operators} satisfying \textit{generalised} Yang--Baxter equations. We also re-evaluate the notion of integrals of motion and characterise when an (algebraic) \textit{transfer operator} is polynomial in a single integral of motion. We refer to such models as {\em polynomially integrable}. In an eight-vertex model, we demonstrate that the corresponding transfer operator is polynomial in the natural hamiltonian. In the Temperley--Lieb loop model with loop fugacity $\beta\in\mathbb{C}$, we likewise find that, for all but finitely many $\beta$-values, the transfer operator is polynomial in the usual hamiltonian element of the Temperley--Lieb algebra $\mathrm{TL}_n(\beta)$, at least for $n\leq17$. Moreover, we find that this model admits a second canonical hamiltonian, and that this hamiltonian also acts as a polynomial integrability generator for small $n$ and all but finitely many $\beta$-values.

Reflections to set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation

Abstract:The main aim of this paper is to determine reflections to bijective and non-degenerate solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation, by exploring their connections with their derived solutions. This is motivated by a recent description of left non-degenerate solutions in terms of a family of automorphisms of their associated left rack. In some cases, we show that the study of reflections for bijective and non-degenerate solutions can be reduced to those of derived type. Moreover, we extend some results obtained in the literature for reflections of involutive non-degenerate solutions to more arbitrary solutions. Besides, we provide ways for defining reflections for solutions obtained by employing some classical construction techniques of solutions. Finally, we gather some numerical data on reflections for bijective non-degenerate solutions associated with skew braces of small order.

Abstract:GL3-invariant, finite-dimensional solutions of the Yang-Baxter equations acting in the tensor product of two irreducible representations of the group GL3 are investigated. A number of relations are obtained for the transfer matrices which demonstrate the connection of representation theory and the Bethe Ansatz in GL3-invariant models. Some of the most interesting quantum and classical integrable systems connected with GL3-invariant solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation are presented.

Abstract:We give a transparent algebraic formulation of our pictorial approach to the reflection positivity (RP), that we introduced in a previous paper. We apply this quantization to the 2+1 Levin–Wen model to obtain 1+1 anyonic/quantum spin chain theory on the boundary, possibly entangled in the bulk. The reflection positivity property has played a central role in both mathematics and physics, as well as providing a crucial link between the two subjects. In a previous paper we gave a new geometric approach to understanding reflection positivity in terms of pictures. Here we give a transparent algebraic formulation of our pictorial approach. We use insights from this translation to establish the reflection positivity property for the fashionable Levin–Wen models with respect both to vacuum and to bulk excitations. We believe these methods will be useful for understanding a variety of other problems.
Reflection $K$-matrices for a nineteen vertex model with $U_{q}[\mathrm{osp}\left(2|2\right)^{\left(2\right)}]$ symmetry

Abstract:We derive the solutions of the boundary Yang-Baxter equation associated with a supersymmetric nineteen vertex model constructed from the three-dimensional representation of the twisted quantum affine Lie superalgebra $U_{q}[\mathrm{osp}\left(2|2\right)^{\left(2\right)}]\simeq U_{q}[C\left(2\right)^{\left(2\right)}]$. We found three classes of solutions. The type I solution is characterized by three boundary free-parameters and all elements of the corresponding reflection $K$-matrix are different from zero. In the type II solution, the reflection $K$-matrix is even (every element of the $K$-matrix with an odd parity is null) and it has only one boundary free-parameter. Finally, the type III solution corresponds to a diagonal reflection $K$-matrix with two boundary free-parameters.

On Separation of Variables for Reflection Algebras

Abstract:We implement our new Separation of Variables (SoV) approach for open quantum integrable models associated to higher rank representations of the reflection algebras. We construct the (SoV) basis for the fundamental representations of the $Y(gl_n)$ reflection algebra associated to general integrable boundary conditions. Moreover, we give the conditions on the boundary $K$-matrices allowing for the transfer matrix to be diagonalizable with simple spectrum. These SoV basis are then used to completely characterize the transfer matrix spectrum for the rank one and two reflection algebras. The rank one case is developed for both the rational and trigonometric fundamental representations of the 6-vertex reflection algebra. On the one hand, we extend the complete spectrum characterization to representations previously lying outside the SoV approach, e.g. those for which the standard Algebraic Bethe Ansatz applies. On the other hand, we show that our new SoV construction can be reduced to the generalized Sklyanin's one whenever it is applicable. The rank two case is developed explicitly for the fundamental representations of the $Y(gl_3)$ reflection algebra associated to general integrable boundary conditions. For both rank one and two our SoV approach leads to a complete characterization of the transfer matrix spectrum in terms of a set of polynomial solutions to the corresponding quantum spectral curve equation. Those are finite difference functional equations of order equal to the rank plus one, i.e., here two and three respectively for the $Y(gl_2)$ and $Y(gl_3)$ reflection algebras.

Abstract:We consider the insertion of integrable boundaries for a class of supersymmetric quantum models. The generic conditions for constructing purely bosonic, purely fermionic or mixed type solutions of the graded reflection equation are extracted. Focusing on models associated with gl(m|n) or Uq(gl(m|n)) symmetry, we first consider purely bosonic reflection matrices with special structures, for general values of m, n. These solutions provide the bosonic parts to construct fuller reflection matrices, containing fermionic degrees of freedom as well.

Abstract:We initiate a novel application of the quantum-inverse scattering method for the 20-vertex model, building upon seminal work from Faddeev and Takhtajan on the study of Hamiltonian systems, with applications to crossing probabilities, 3D Poisson structure, triangular height functions, and integrability. In comparison to a previous work of the author in late $2023$ which characterized integrability of a Hamiltonian flow for the 6-vertex model from integrability of inhomogeneous limit shapes, formalized in a work of Keating, Reshetikhin and Sridhar, notions similar to those of integrability can be realized for the 20-vertex model by studying new classes of higher-dimensional L-operators. In comparison to two-dimensional L-operators expressed in terms of Pauli basis elements, three-dimensional L-operators provided by Boos and colleagues have algebraic, combinatorial, and geometric, qualities, all of which impact leading order approximations of correlations, products of L-operators, the transfer matrix, and the quantum monodromy matrix in finite volume. In comparison to the inhomogeneous 6-vertex model, the 20-vertex model does not enjoy as strong of an integrability property through the existence of suitable action-angle variables, which is of interest to further explore, possibly from information on limit shapes given solutions to the three-dimensional Euler-Lagrange equations.

Abstract:We introduce a class of particle models in one dimension involving exchange interactions that have scattering properties satisfying the Yang-Baxter consistency condition. A subclass of these models exhibits reflectionless scattering, in which particles are "transparent" to each other, generalizing a property hitherto only known for the exchange Calogero model. The thermodynamics of these systems can be derived using the asymptotic Bethe-ansatz method.

The Reflection Coefficient of a Reflectionless Kink

Abstract:Classically, reflectionless kinks transmit all incident radiation. Recently, we have used an analyticity argument together with a solution of the Lippmann-Schwinger equation to write down the leading quantum correction to the reflection probability. The argument was fast but rather indirect. In the present paper, we calculate the reflection coefficient and probability by methodically grinding through the Schrodinger picture time evolution. We find the same answer. This answer contains contributions not considered in the traditional calculation of meson-kink scattering in 1991. However, as a result of these contributions, our total result is zero in the case of the Sine-Gordon model, and so is consistent with integrability.

Abstract:— In this paper we present high performance dynamically allocated multi-queue (DAMQ) buffer schemes for fault tolerance systems on chip applications that require an interconnection network. Two virtual channels shared the same buffer space. Fault tolerant mechanisms for interconnection networks are becoming a critical design issue for large massively parallel computers. It is also important to high performance SoCs as the system complexity keeps increasing rapidly. On the message switching layer, we make improvement to boost system performance when there are faults involved in the components communication. The proposed scheme is when a node or a physical channel is deemed as faulty, the previous hop node will terminate the buffer occupancy of messages destined to the failed link. The buffer usage decisions are made at switching layer without interactions with higher abstract layer, thus buffer space will be released to messages destined to other healthy nodes quickly. Therefore, the buffer space will be efficiently used in case fault occurs at some nodes.

Abstract:We present a generalization the G. Letzter's theory of quantum symmetric pairs of semisimple Lie algebras for the case of quantum affine algebras. We then study solutions of the reflection equation for the quantum affine algebras sl(2) and gl(1|1) and their Yangian limit for singlet (diagonal) and vector (non-diagonal) boundary conditions. We construct the corresponding quantum affine coideal subalgebras that are based on the quantum symmetric pairs, and the (generalized) twisted Yangians.

Abstract:In a previous paper, the author has established an extension of the Z-invariance property for integrable edge-interaction models of statistical mechanics, that satisfy the star-triangle relation (STR) form of the Yang-Baxter equation (YBE). In the present paper, an analogous extended Z-invariance property is shown to also hold for integrable vector models and interaction-round-a-face (IRF) models of statistical mechanics respectively. As for the previous case of the STR, the Z-invariance property is shown through the use of local cubic-type deformations of a 2-dimensional surface associated to the models, which allow an extension of the models onto a subset of next nearest neighbour vertices of $\mathbb{Z}^3$, while leaving the partition functions invariant. These deformations are permitted as a consequence of the respective YBE's satisfied by the models. The quasi-classical limit is also considered, and it is shown that an analogous Z-invariance property holds for the variational formulation of classical discrete Laplace equations which arise in this limit. From this limit, new integrable 3D-consistent multi-component quad equations are proposed, which are constructed from a degeneration of the equations of motion for IRF Boltzmann weights.

Abstract:The study of the set-theoretic solutions of the reflection equation, also known as reflection maps, is closely related to that of the Yang-Baxter maps. In this work, we construct reflection maps on various geometrical objects, associated with factorization problems on rational loop groups and involutions. We show that such reflection maps are smoothly conjugate to the composite of permutation maps, with corresponding reduced Yang-Baxter maps. In the case when the reduced Yang-Baxter maps are independent of parameters, the latter are just braiding operators. We also study the symplectic and Poisson geometry of such reflection maps. In a special case, the factorization problems are associated with the collision of N-solitons of the n-Manakov system with a boundary, and in this context the N-body polarization reflection map is a symplectomorphism.

Abstract:The Yang-Baxter equation first appeared in theoretical physics, in a paper by the Nobel laureate C. N. Yang, and in statistical mechanics, in R. J. Baxter’s work. Later, it turned out that this equation plays a crucial role in: quantum groups, knot theory, braided categories, analysis of integrable systems, quantum mechanics, non-commutative descent theory, quantum computing, non-commutative geometry, etc. Many scientists have found solutions for the Yang-Baxter equation, obtaining qualitative results (using the axioms of various algebraic structures) or quantitative results (usually using computer calculations). However, the full classification of its solutions remains an open problem. In this paper, we present the (set-theoretical) Yang-Baxter equation, we sketch the proof of a new theorem, we state some problems, and discuss about directions for future research.

Abstract:We study solutions of the reflection equation related to the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\widehat{sl_n})$. First, we explain how to construct a family of stochastic integrable vertex models with fixed boundary conditions. Then, we construct upper- and lower-triangular solutions of the reflection equation related to symmetric tensor representations of $U_q(\widehat{sl_n})$ with arbitrary spin. We also prove the star-star relation for the Boltzmann weights of the Ising-type model, conjectured by Bazhanov and Sergeev, and use it to verify certain properties of the solutions obtained.

Abstract:We establish a q-version of the Schur-Weyl duality, in which the role of the symmetric group is played by the Hecke algebra and the role of the enveloping algebra U(gl(N)) is played by the Reflection Equation algebra, associated with any skew-invertible Hecke symmetry. Also, in each Reflection Equation algebra we define analogues of the Schur polynomials and power sums in two forms: as polynomials in generators of a given Reflection Equation algebra and in terms of the so-called eigenvalues of the generating matrix $L$, defined by means of the Cayley-Hamilton identity. It is shown that on any Reflection Equation algebra there exists a formula, which brings into correlation the Schur polynomials and power sums by means of the characters of the Hecke algebras in the spirit of the classical Frobenius formula.
