Abstract:Abstract We exhibit basic algebro-geometric results on the formal model of semi-infinite flag varieties and its Schubert varieties over an algebraically closed field ${\mathbb K}$ of characteristic $\neq 2$ from scratch. We show that the formal model of a semi-infinite flag variety admits a unique nice (ind-)scheme structure, its projective coordinate ring has a $\mathbb {Z}$ -model and it admits a Frobenius splitting compatible with the boundaries and opposite cells in positive characteristic. This establishes the normality of the Schubert varieties of the quasi-map space with a fixed degree (instead of their limits proved in [K, Math. Ann. 371 no.2 (2018)]) when $\mathsf {char}\, {\mathbb K} =0$ or $\gg 0$ , and the higher-cohomology vanishing of their nef line bundles in arbitrary characteristic $\neq 2$ . Some particular cases of these results play crucial roles in our proof [47] of a conjecture by Lam, Li, Mihalcea and Shimozono [60] that describes an isomorphism between affine and quantum K -groups of a flag manifold.

Abstract:In this paper we prove that the coordinate ring of the pinched Veronese (i.e $k[X^3,X^2Y,XY^2,Y^3,X^2Z,Y^2Z,XZ^2,YZ^2,Z^3]\subset k[X,Y,Z]$) is Koszul. The strategy of the proof is the following: we can consider a presentation $S/I$ where $S=k[X_1,...,X_9]$. Using a distinguished weight $\omega$, it's enough to show that $S/in_{\omega}I$ is Koszul. We write $in_{\omega}I$ as $J+H$ where $J$ is generated by a Gröbner basis of quadrics. Finally, we present an extension of the notion of Koszul filtration and we use it to show that $(J+H)/J$ has a linear free resolution over $S/J.$ This implies the Koszulness of $S/I.$

Abstract:We give examples of Koszul rings that arise naturally in algebraic geometry. In the first part, we prove a general result on Koszul property associated to an ample line bundle on a projective variety. Specifically, we show how Koszul property of multiples of a base point free ample line bundle depends on its Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity. In the second part, we give examples of Koszul rings that come from adjoint line bundles on irregular surfaces of general type.

Abstract:Let $R$ be a semisimple ring. A pair $(A,C)$ is called almost-Koszul if $A$ is a connected graded $R$-ring and $C$ is a compatible connected graded $R$-coring. To an almost-Koszul pair one associates three chain complexes and three cochain complexes such that one of them is exact if and only if the others are so. In this situation $(A,C)$ is said to be Koszul. One proves that a connected $R$-ring $A$ is Koszul if and only if there is a connected $R$-coring $C$ such that $(A,C)$ is Koszul. This result allows us to investigate the Hochschild (co)homology of Koszul rings. We apply our method to show that the twisted tensor product of two Koszul rings is Koszul. More examples and applications of Koszul pairs, including a generalization of Fröberg Theorem, are discussed in the last part of the paper.

Koszul modules with vanishing resonance in algebraic geometry

Abstract:We discuss various applications of a uniform vanishing result for the graded components of the finite length Koszul module associated to a subspace in the second wedge product of a vector space. Previously Koszul modules of finite length have been used to give a proof of Green's Conjecture on syzygies of generic canonical curves. We now give applications to effective stabilization of cohomology of thickenings of algebraic varieties, divisors on moduli spaces of curves, enumerative geometry of curves on K3 surfaces and to skew-symmetric degeneracy loci. We also show that the stability of sufficiently positive rank 2 vector bundles on curves is governed by resonance.

Abstract:Let be a vector bundle on a smooth projective variety that is Ulrich with respect to the hyperplane section H . In this article, we study the Koszul property of , the slope-semistability of the k -th iterated syzygy bundle for all and rationality of moduli spaces of slope-stable bundles on Del Pezzo surfaces. As a consequence of our study, we show that if X is a Del Pezzo surface of degree , then any Ulrich bundle satisfies the Koszul property and is slope-semistable. We also show that, for infinitely many Chern characters , the corresponding moduli spaces of slope-stable bundles when non-empty, are rational, and thereby produce new evidences for a conjecture of Costa and Miró-Roig. As a consequence, we show that the iterated syzygy bundles of Ulrich bundles are dense in these moduli spaces.

Abstract:We give a proof of the parabolic/singular Koszul duality for the category O of affine Kac-Moody algebras. The main new tool is a relation between moment graphs and finite codimensional affine Schubert varieties. We apply this duality to q-Schur algebras and to cyclotomic rational double affine Hecke algebras. This yields a proof of a conjecture of Chuang-Miyachi relating the level-rank duality with the Ringel-Koszul duality of cyclotomic rational double affine Hecke algebras.

Abstract:We will describe how we can identify the structure of the Koszul algebra for trivariate monomial ideals from minimal free resolutions. We use recent work of L. Avramov, where he classifies the behavior of Bass numbers of embedding codepth 3 commutative local rings. His classification relies on a corresponding classification of their respective Koszul algebras, which is comprised of 5 categories. Using Avramov's classification of the Koszul algebra, along with their respective Bass series we will learn how to identify the Koszul algebra structure by inspecting the minimal free resolution of the quotient ring. We give a complete classification of the Koszul algebra for generic monomial ideals and offer several examples. In addition we will describe a class of ideals with a specific Koszul algebra structure which was previously unknown.

If $\mathcal{U}_{C,\,\omega}$ denotes the moduli space of semistable parabolic bundles of rank $r$ and degree $d$ on $C$ with parabolic structures determined by $\omega=(k,\{\vec n(x),\vec a(x)\}_{x\in I})$, we prove that $\mathcal{U}_{C,\,\omega}$ is \textit{$F$-split} for generic $C$ and generic choice of $I$ when $p>3r$.

Abstract:In this article we explain how the coordinate ring of each (open) Schubert variety in the Grassmannian can be identified with a cluster algebra, whose combinatorial structure is encoded using (target labelings of) Postnikov's plabic graphs. This result generalizes a theorem of Scott [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc. (3) 92 (2006) 345–380] for the Grassmannian, and proves a folklore conjecture for Schubert varieties that has been believed by experts since Scott's result [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc. (3) 92 (2006) 345–380], though the statement was not formally written down until Muller–Speyer explicitly conjectured it [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc. (3) 115 (2017) 1014–1071]. To prove this conjecture we use a result of Leclerc [Adv. Math. 300 (2016) 190–228] who used the module category of the preprojective algebra to prove that coordinate rings of many Richardson varieties in the complete flag variety can be identified with cluster algebras. Our proof also uses a construction of Karpman [J. Combin. Theory Ser. A 142 (2016) 113–146] to build plabic graphs associated to reduced expressions. We additionally generalize our result to the setting of skew‐Schubert varieties; the latter result uses generalized plabic graphs, that is, plabic graphs whose boundary vertices need not be labeled in cyclic order.

Abstract:Under some technical assumptions, and building on joint work with Bezrukavnikov, we prove a multiplicity formula for indecomposable tilting perverse sheaves on affine flag varieties, with coefficients in a field of characteristic $p$, in terms of $p$-Kazhdan--Lusztig polynomials. Under the same assumptions, we also explain the construction of a "degrading functor" relating mixed modular perverse sheaves (as defined in joint work with Achar) on such varieties to ordinary perverse sheaves.

Abstract:We discover a new connection between Koszul theory and representation theory. Let $\La$ be a quadratic algebra defined by a locally finite quiver with relations. Firstly, we give a combinatorial description of the local Koszul complexes and the quadratic dual $\La^!$, which enables us to describe the linear projective resolutions and the colinear injective coresolutions of graded simple $\La$-modules in terms of $\La^!$. As applications, we obtain a new class of Koszul algebras and a stronger version of the Extension Conjecture for finite dimensional Koszul algebras with a noetherian Koszul dual. Then we construct two Koszul functors, which induce a $2$-real-parameter family of pairs of derived Koszul functors between categories derived from graded $\La$-modules and those derived from graded $\La^!$-modules. In case $\La$ is Koszul, each pair of derived Koszul functors are mutually quasi-inverse, one of the pairs is Beilinson, Ginzburg and Soergel's Koszul duality. If $\La$ and $\La^!$ are locally bounded on opposite sides, then the Koszul functors induce two equivalences of bounded derived categories: one for finitely piece-supported graded modules, and one for finite dimensional graded modules. And if $\La$ and $\La^!$ are both locally bounded, then the bounded derived category of finite dimensional graded $\La$-modules has almost split triangles with the Auslander-Reiten translations and the Serre functors given by composites of derived Koszul functors.

Abstract:We study a finite dimensional quadratic graded algebra R defined from a finite ranked poset. This algebra has been central to the study of the splitting algebra of the poset, A, as introduced by Gelfand, Retakh, Serconek and Wilson . The algebra A is known to be quadratic when the poset satisfies a combinatorial condition known as uniform, and R is the quadratic dual of an associated graded algebra of A. We prove that R is Koszul and the poset is uniform if and only if the poset is Cohen-Macaulay. Koszulity of R implies Koszulity of A. We also show that when R is Koszul, the cohomology of the order complex of the poset can be identified with certain cohomology groups defined internally to the ring R. Finally, we settle in the negative the long-standing question: Does numerically Koszul imply Koszul for algebras of the form R?

Abstract:An emerging class of data-intensive applications involve the geographically dispersed extraction of complex scientific information from very large collections of measured or computed data. Such applications arise, for example, in experimental physics, where the data in question is generated by accelerators, and in simulation science, where the data is generated by supercomputers. So-called Data Grids provide essential infrastructure for such applications, much as the Internet provides essential services for applications such as e-mail and the Web. We describe here two services that we believe are fundamental to any Data Grid: reliable, high-speed transporet and replica management. Our high-speed transport service, GridFTP, extends the popular FTP protocol with new features required for Data Grid applciations, such as striping and partial file access. Our replica management service integrates a replica catalog with GridFTP transfers to provide for the creation, registration, location, and management of dataset replicas. We present the design of both services and also preliminary performance results. Our implementations exploit security and other services provided by the Globus Toolkit.

Abstract:Let $Y$ be a smooth quartic double solid regarded as a degree 4 hypersurface of the weighted projective space $\mathbb{P}(1,1,1,1,2)$. We study the multiplication of Hochschild-Serre algebra of its Kuznetsov component $\mathcal{K}u(Y)$, via matrix factorization. As an application, we give a new disproof of Kuznetsov's Fano threefold conjecture.

Abstract:We study absolutely Koszul algebras, Koszul algebras with the Backelin-Roos property and their behavior under standard algebraic operations. In particular, we identify some Veronese subrings of polynomial rings that have the Backelin-Roos property and conjecture that the list is indeed complete. Among other things, we prove that every universally Koszul ring defined by monomials has the Backelin-Roos property.

Abstract:We establish combinatorial and inductive formulas for Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials associated to covexillary elements in classical types, extending results of Boe, Lascoux-Schützenberger, Sankaran-Vanchinathan, and Zelevinsky for Grassmannians of classical types. The proof uses intersection cohomology theory and the isomorphism of Kazhdan-Lusztig varieties from Anderson-Ikeda-Jeon-Kawago.
