Abstract:Classical Goppa codes are a well-known class of codes with applications in code-based cryptography, which are a special case of alternant codes. Many papers are devoted to the search for Goppa codes with a cyclic extension or with a cyclic parity-check subcode. Let $\Bbb F_q$ be a finite field with $q=2^l$ elements, where $l$ is a positive integer. In this paper, we determine all the generator polynomials of cyclic expurgated or extended Goppa codes under some prescribed permutations induced by the projective general linear automorphism $A \in PGL_2(\Bbb F_q)$. Moreover, we provide some examples to support our findings.

Abstract:In this paper, we resolve a conjecture of Green and Liebeck (2019) [3] on codes in PGL(2,q). To be specific, we show that: if D is a dihedral subgroup of order 2(q+1) in G=PGL(2,q), and A={g∈G:gq+1=1,g2≠1}, then λG=A⋅D, where λ=q or q−1 according as q is even or odd.

Abstract:On a Goppa code whose structure polynomial has coefficients in the symbol field, the Frobenius acts. Its fixed codewords form a subcode. Deleting the naturally occurred redundance, we obtain a new code. It is proved that these new codes approach the Gilbert-Varshamov bound. It is also proved that these codes can be decoded within $O(n^2(\logn)^a)$ operations in the symbol field, which is usually much small than the location field, where $n$ is the codeword length, and $a$ a constant determined by the polynomial factorization algorithm.

Abstract:In this paper we study combinatorial aspects of permutations of $\{1,\ldots,n\}$ and related topics. In particular, we show that there is a unique permutation $\pi$ of $\{1,\ldots,n\}$ such that all the numbers $k+\pi(k)$ ($k=1,\ldots,n$) are powers of two. We also prove that $n\mid\text{per}[i^{j-1}]_{1\le i,j\le n}$ for any integer $n>2$. We conjecture that if a group $G$ contains no element of order among $2,\ldots,n+1$ then any $A\subseteq G$ with $|A|=n$ can be written as $\{a_1,\ldots,a_n\}$ with $a_1,a_2^2,\ldots,a_n^n$ pairwise distinct. This conjecture is confirmed when $G$ is a torsion-free abelian group. We also show that for any finite subset $A$ of a torsion-free abelian group $G$ with $|A|=n>3$, there is a numbering $a_1,\ldots,a_n$ of all the elements of $A$ such that all the $n$ sums $$a_1+a_2+a_3, a_2+a_3+a_4, \ldots, a_{n-2}+a_{n-1}+a_n, a_{n-1}+a_n+a_1, a_n+a_1+a_2$$ are pairwise distinct.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce multivariate Goppa codes, which contain as a special case the well-known, classical Goppa codes. We provide a parity check matrix for a multivariate Goppa code in terms of a tensor product of generalized Reed-Solomon codes. We prove that multivariate Goppa codes are subfield subcodes of augmented Cartesian codes. By showing how this new family of codes relates to tensor products of generalized Reed-Solomon codes and augmented codes, we obtain information about the parameters, subcodes, duals, and hulls of multivariate Goppa codes. We see that in certain cases, the hulls of multivariate Goppa codes (resp., tensor product of generalized Reed-Solomon codes), are also multivariate Goppa codes (resp. tensor product of generalized Reed-Solomon codes). We utilize the multivariate Goppa codes to obtain entanglement-assisted quantum error-correcting codes and to build families of long LCD, self-dual, or self-orthogonal codes.

Abstract:In this article, by studying the Bernstein degrees and Goldie rank polynomials, we establish a comparison between the irreducible representations of G = GL n （C） possessing the minimal Gelfand-Kirillov dimension and those induced from finite-dimensional representations of the maximal parabolic subgroup of G of type（n-1, 1）. We give the transition matrix between the two bases for the corresponding coherent families.

Abstract:For a finite group $G$, we denote by $c(G)$, the minimal degree of faithful representation of $G$ by quasi-permutation matrices over the complex field $\mathbb{C}$. For an irreducible character $\chi$ of $G$, the codegree of $\chi$ is defined as $\cod(\chi) = |G/ \ker(\chi)|/ \chi(1)$. In this article, we establish equality between $c(G)$ and a $\mathbb{Q}_{\geq 0}$-sum of codegrees of some irreducible characters of a non-abelian $p$-group $G$ of odd order. We also study the relation between $c(G)$ and irreducible character codegrees for various classes of non-abelian $p$-groups, such as, $p$-groups with cyclic center, maximal class $p$-groups, GVZ $p$-groups, and others.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a finite additive abelian group with exponent $n>1$, and let $a_1,\ldots,a_{n-1}\in G$. We show that there is a permutation $\sigma\in S_{n-1}$ such that all the elements $sa_{\sigma(s)}\ (s=1,\ldots,n-1)$ are nonzero if and only if $$\left|\left\{1\le s<n:\ \frac{n}{d}a_s\ne 0\right\}\right|\ge d-1\ \ \textrm{ for every positive divisor }\ d\ \textrm{ of }\ n.$$ When $G$ is the cyclic group $\mathbb Z/n\mathbb Z$, this confirms a conjecture of Z.-W. Sun.

Abstract:In this paper, we exclusively utilize CNOT gates for implementing permutation groups generated by more than two elements. In Lemma 1, we recall that three CNOT gates are both necessary and sufficient to execute a two-qubit swap gate operation. Subsequently, in Lemma 2, we show that the maximum number of CNOT gates needed to carry out an n-qubit substitution operation is 3(n-1). Moving forward, our analysis in Section 3 reveals that utilizing five or fewer CNOT gates is insufficient for implementing a three-qubit swap gate corresponding to the permutation element (123). Hence six CNOT gates are both necessary and sufficient for implementing (123). This is done by employing a graph-theoretic approach to rigorously validate the results in terms of at most five CNOT gates. Using computational tools, we exhaustively explore all valid circuit diagrams containing exactly six CNOT gates to successfully execute the swap gate for (123), by explaining the equivalence classes in Remark 6 and Table 2. We conclude them in Theorem <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://7.To" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> extend our analysis to the multiqubit scenario, we present the reducible and irreducible permutation elements in Definition 8. We clarify the equivalence between rows in the multi-qubit space and provide an approximate upper bound for multi-qubits to perform the aforementioned operations in Theorem 9. The comprehensive exploration of this paper aims to pave the way for further advancements in understanding quantum circuit optimization via multiple use of a specific two-qubit gate.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct three classes of permutation quadrinomials with Niho exponents of the form f(x)=α _0x^r+α _1x^s_1(p^m-1)+r+α _2x^s_2(p^m-1)+r+α _3x^s_3(p^m-1)+r∈𝔽_p^n[x] , where p is an odd prime, n=2m is a positive even integer, and (r,s_1,s_2,s_3)=(1,-1/p^k-2,1,p^k-1/p^k-2) , (1,p^k+1/p^k+2,1,1/p^k+2) and (3, 1, 2, 3), respectively. The exponents of the first two classes are considered for the first time, and the third class covers all the permutation polynomials proposed by Gupta (Designs Codes and Cryptography 88 , 1–17, 2020 ).
Permutation-Invariant Quantum Codes with Transversal Generalized Phase Gates

Abstract:With respect to the transversal gate group (an invariant of quantum codes), we demonstrate that non-additive codes can outperform stabilizer codes. We do this by constructing spin codes that correspond to permutation-invariant multiqubit codes that can implement generalized phase gates transversally. Of particular note, we construct permutation-invariant quantum codes that implement a transversal $T$ gate using fewer qubits and with a better minimum distance than is possible with the best known stabilizer codes.

Abstract:In this article, we continue the analysis started in [8] for the matrix code of quadratic relationships associated with a Goppa code. We provide new sparse and low-rank elements in the matrix code and categorize them according to their shape. Thanks to this description, we prove that the set of rank 2 matrices in the matrix codes associated with square-free binary Goppa codes, i.e. those used in the Classic McEiece cryptosystem, is much larger than what is expected, at least in the case where the Goppa polynomial degree is 2. We build upon the algebraic determinantal modeling introduced in [8] to derive a structural attack on these instances. Our method can break in just a few seconds some recent challenges to recover the key of the McEliece cryptosystem, consistently reducing their estimated security level. We also provide a general method, valid for any Goppa polynomial degree, to transform a generic pair of support and multiplier into a pair of support and Goppa polynomial.

On the cross-correlation of Golomb Costas permutations

Abstract:In the most interesting case of safe prime powers $q$, Gómez and Winterhof showed that a subfamily of the family of Golomb Costas permutations of $\{1,2,\ldots,q-2\}$ of size $\varphi(q-1)$ has maximal cross-correlation of order of magnitude at most $q^{1/2}$. In this paper we study a larger family of Golomb Costas permutations and prove a weaker bound on its maximal cross-correlation. Considering the whole family of Golomb Costas permutations we show that large cross-correlations are very rare. Finally, we collect several conditions for a small cross-correlation of two Costas permutations. Our main tools are the Weil bound and the Szemerédi-Trotter theorem for finite fields.

Minimal operations over permutation groups

Abstract:We classify the possible types of minimal operations above an arbitrary permutation group. Above the trivial group, a theorem of Rosenberg yields that there are five types of minimal operations. We show that above any non-trivial permutation group there are at most four such types. Indeed, except above Boolean groups acting freely on a set, there are only three. In particular, this is the case for oligomorphic permutation groups, for which we improve a result of Bodirsky and Chen by showing one of the types in their classification does not exist. Building on these results, we answer three questions of Bodirsky that were previously open.

Abstract:We present a family of non-additive quantum codes based on Goethals and Preparata codes with parameters ((2^m,2^{2^m-5m+1},8)). The dimension of these codes is eight times higher than the dimension of the best known additive quantum codes of equal length and minimum distance.

Abstract:Maximum rank-distance (MRD) codes are extremal codes in the space of $m\times n$ matrices over a finite field, equipped with the rank metric. Up to generalizations, the classical examples of such codes were constructed in the 1970s and are today known as Gabidulin codes. Motivated by several recent approaches to construct MRD codes that are inequivalent to Gabidulin codes, we study the equivalence issue for Gabidulin codes themselves. This shows in particular that the family of Gabidulin codes already contains a huge subset of MRD codes that are pairwise inequivalent, provided that $2\le m\le n-2$.
