Abstract:In this paper, we study the Euler–Poisson equations describing the evolution of the gaseous star with a negative cosmological constant. We construct explicit solutions for the isothermal case in R2, which contain blowup solutions and the solutions with time periodicity. In this paper, we explore the space of solutions to the field equations when the torsion fields are turned on, in a homogeneous and isotropic (cosmological) scenario. We explore various metric structures that emerge in the space of solutions.

Abstract:We review the solution space for the field equations of Einstein's General Relativity for various static, spherically symmetric spacetimes. We consider the vacuum case, represented by the Schwarzschild black hole; the de Sitter-Schwarzschild geometry, which includes a cosmological constant; the Reissner-Nordström geometry, which accounts for the presence of charge. Additionally we consider the homogenenous and anisotropic locally rotational Bianchi II spacetime in the vacuum. Our analysis reveals that the field equations for these scenarios share a common three-dimensional group of point transformations, with the generators being the elements of the D⊗sT2 Lie algebra, known as the semidirect product of dilations and translations in the plane. Due to this algebraic property the field equations for the aforementioned gravitational models can be expressed in the equivalent form of the null geodesic equations for conformally flat geometries. Consequently, the solution space for the field equations is common, and it is the solution space for the free particle in a flat space. This approach open new directions on the construction of analytic solutions in gravitational physics and cosmology.

Abstract:We analyze existence and properties of solutions of two-dimensional general relativistic initial data sets with a negative cosmological constant, both on spacelike and characteristic surfaces. A new family of such vacuum, spacelike data parameterised by poles at the conformal boundary at infinity is constructed. We review the notions of global Hamiltonian charges, emphasising the difficulties arising in this dimension, both in a spacelike and characteristic setting. One or two, depending upon the topology, lower bounds for energy in terms of angular momentum, linear momentum, and center of mass are established.

Cosmological solutions of a chiral self-gravitating model of $f(R,(\nabla R)^2,\square R)$ gravity

Abstract:We study modified $f(R,(\nabla R)^2,\square R)$ gravity and show in detail how it can be reduced to Einstein gravity with a few scalar fields and then represented in the form of chiral self-gravitating model of the special type. In further investigation of the model we focus on cosmology and looking for solutions of the dynamic equations of chiral fields and the Einstein-Friedman equations in the Friedman-Robertson-Walker spacetime. Exact solutions of the considered model for zero and constant potential are found. Between them power law solution corresponded to equation of state for stiff matter, de Sitter solution, trigonometric and hyperbolic expansion solution. Various type of chiral fields evolution support listed above solutions.

Abstract:We give a pedagogical introduction to static spherically symmetric solutions in models of New GR, both explaining the basics and showing how all such vacuum solutions can be obtained in elementary functions. In doing so, we coherently introduce the full landscape of these modified teleparallel spacetimes, and find a few special cases. The equations of motion are turned into a very nice and compact form by using the Levi-Civita divergence of the torsion-conjugate; and generalised Bianchi identities are briefly discussed. Another important point we make is that a convenient choice of the radial variable might be instrumental for success of similar studies in other modified gravity models.

Spherical symmetric solutions of conformal Killing gravity: black holes, wormholes, and sourceless cosmologies

Abstract:The most general set of static and spherically symmetric solutions for conformal Killing gravity coupled to Maxwell fields is presented in closed form. These solutions, depending on six parameters, include non-asymptotically flat black holes or naked singularities, non-asymptotically flat traversable wormholes, and (possibly singularity-free) closed universes. We also consider the inverse problem, showing that the most general energy-momentum tensor generating a given static spherically symmetric metric depends on three parameters. Sourceless time-dependent isotropic solutions are also given. These solutions depending on the curvature, the cosmological constant, and a new integration constant $\alpha$, present a rich variety, including singularity-free eternal cosmologies and universes evolving symmetrically from a big bang to a big crunch within a finite lapse of time.

Abstract:We investigate the vacuum and charged spherically symmetric static solutions of the Einstein equations on cosmological background. The background metric is not flat, but curved, with constant - curvature spatial sections. Both vacuum and charged cases contain two branches. The first branches transform into the Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordstr\"om solutions if the background metric goes to the Minkovski one. The second branches describe wormholes and have no Einstein limit.

Abstract:In this paper we perform a systematic study of vacuum spatially flat ((3+D)+1)-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet cosmological models. We consider models which topologically are the product of two flat isotropic subspaces with different scale factors. One of these subspaces is 3D and represents our space and the other is D-dimensional and represents extra dimensions. We consider no ansatz of the scale factors, which makes our results quite general. With both Einstein-Hilbert and Gauss-Bonnet contributions in play, the cases with D=1, D=2, D=3 and $D\geqslant 4$ have different dynamics due to different structure of the equations of motion. We analytically study equations of motion in all cases and describe all possible regimes. It appears that the only regimes with nonsingular future asymptotes are the Kasner regime in GR as well as exponential regimes. As of the past asymptotes, for a smooth transition only Kasner regime in Gauss-Bonnet is an option. With that at hand, we are down only to two viable regimes -- "pure" Kasner regime (transition from high- to low-energy Kasner regime) and a transition from high-energy Kasner to anisotropic exponential solution. It appears that these regimes take place for different signs of the Gauss-Bonnet coupling $\alpha$: "pure" Kasner regime occur for $\alpha > 0$ at low D and $\alpha < 0$ for high D; anisotropic exponential regime is reached only for $\alpha > 0$. So if we restrain ourselves with $\alpha > 0$ solutions, the only late-time regimes are Kasner for D=1, 2 and anisotropic exponential for $D\geqslant 2$. Also, low-energy Kasner regimes ($a(t)\propto t^p$) have expansion rates for (3+1)-dimensional subspace ("our Universe") ranging from p=0.5 (D=1) to $p=1/\sqrt{3} \approx 0.577$ ($D\to\infty$), which contradicts with dust-dominated Friedmann prediction (p=2/3).

Abstract:We consider $10$-dimensional gravitational model with $SO(6)$ Yang-Mills field, Gauss-Bonnet term and $\Lambda$-term. We study so-called cosmological type solutions defined on product manifold $M = R \times R^3 \times K$, where $K$ is $6d$ Calabi-Yau manifold. By putting the gauge field 1-form to be coinciding with 1-form spin connection on $K$, we obtain exact cosmological solutions with exponential dependence of scale factors (upon $t$-variable), governed by two non-coinciding Hubble-like parameters: $H >0$, $h$, obeying $ H + 2 h \neq 0$. We also present static analogs of these cosmological solutions (for $H \neq 0$, $h \neq H$ and $ H + 2 h \neq 0$). The islands of stability for both classes of solutions are outlined.

Nonsingular solutions to the Einstein equations on piecewise-Lorentzian manifolds

Abstract:We consider 4-dimensional spacetime manifolds that are piecewise Lorentzian, where the Lorentzian components of the manifold are separated by codimension-one planes (spacelike or timelike) on which the metric is degenerate. Such manifolds are of interest because they enlarge the smooth and nonsingular solution space of the Einstein equations. Planes of degeneracy that are perpendicular to each other can exist simultaneously. We describe various solutions of this type to the vacuum equations $G_{\mu\nu}=0$ and $G_{\mu\nu}+\Lambda g_{\mu\nu}=0$, and to $G_{\mu\nu}= 8\pi G T_{\mu\nu}$ for a perfect fluid. Novel examples include static gravitational lumps of finite curvature and a spacetime that responds to a cosmological constant via oscillations in time and/or space. A spacelike degeneracy plane can be used to avoid the big bang singularity, as we have further described elsewhere.

Abstract:We consider two-dimensional quantum gravity endowed with a positive cosmological constant and coupled to a conformal field theory of large and positive central charge. We study cosmological properties at the classical and quantum level. We provide a complete ADM analysis of the classical phase space, revealing a family of either bouncing or big bang/crunch type cosmologies. At the quantum level, we solve the Wheeler-DeWitt equation exactly. In the semiclassical limit, we link the Wheeler-DeWitt state space to the classical phase space. Wavefunctionals of the Hartle-Hawking and Vilenkin type are identified, and we uncover a quantum version of the bouncing spacetime. We retrieve the Hartle-Hawking wavefunction from the disk path integral of timelike Liouville theory. To do so, we must select a particular contour in the space of complexified fields. The quantum information content of the big bang cosmology is discussed, and contrasted with the de Sitter horizon entropy as computed by a gravitational path integral over the two-sphere.

Abstract:We present an exact solution of Einstein's field equations in toroidal coordinates. The solution has three regions: an interior with a string equation of state; an Israel boundary layer; an exterior with constant isotropic pressure and constant density, locally isometric to anti-de Sitter spacetime. The exterior can be a cosmological vacuum with negative cosmological constant. The size and mass of the toroidal loop depend on the size of the cosmological constant.

Bogomol'nyi-like Equations in Gravity Theories

Abstract:Using the BPS Lagrangian method, we show that gravity theory coupled to matter in various dimensions may possess Bogomol'nyi-like equations, which are first-order differential equations, satisfying the Einstein equations and the Euler-Lagrange equations of classical fields ($U(1)$ gauge and scalar fields). In particular we consider static and spherically symmetric solutions by taking proper ansatzes and then we find an effective Lagrangian density that can reproduce the Einstein equations and the Euler-Lagrange equations of the classical fields. We consider the BPS Lagrangian density to be linear function of first-order derivative of all the fields. From these two Lagrangian desities we are able to obtain the Bogomol'nyi-like equations whose some of solutions are well-known such as Schwarzschild, Reissner-Nordström, Tangherlini black holes, and the recent black holes with scalar hair in three dimensions [Phys. Rev. D 107, 124047]. Using these Bogomol'nyi-like equations, we are also able to find new solutions for scalar hair black holes in three and four dimensional spacetime. Furthermore we show that the BPS Lagrangian method can provide a simple alternative proof of black holes uniqueness theorems in any dimension.

Abstract:We study a class of static spherically symmetric vacuum solutions in modified teleparallel gravity solving the field equations for a specific model Ansatz, requiring the torsion scalar $T$ to be constant. We discuss the models falling in this class. After some general considerations, we provide and investigate local solutions in the form of black holes and traversable wormholes as well as configurations that can match the anomalous rotation curves of galaxies.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the phase space of cosmological models in the context of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory. More specifically, we consider a generalized dynamical system that encapsulates the main features of the theory and for the cases that this is rendered autonomous, we analyze its equilibrium points and stable and unstable manifolds corresponding to several distinct cosmological evolutions. As we demonstrate, the phase space is quite rich and contains invariant structures, which dictate the conditions under which the theory may be valid and viable in describing the evolution Universe during different phases. It is proved that a stable equilibrium point and two invariant manifolds leading to the fixed point, have both physical meaning and restrict the physical aspects of such a rich in structure modified theory of gravity. More important we prove the existence of a heteroclinic orbit which drives the evolution of the system to a stable fixed point. However, while on the fixed point the Friedman constraint corresponding to a flat Universe is satisfied, the points belonging to the heteroclinic orbit do not satisfy the Friedman constraint. We discuss the origin of this intriguing issue in some detail.
