Abstract:Recent Lattice QCD results are reviewed with an emphasis on spectroscopic results concerning the charm quark. It is demonstrated that, with accurate computations from lattice QCD in recent years that can be compared with the existing or upcoming experiments, stringent test of the Standard Model can be performed which will greatly sharpen our knowledge on the strong interaction.

Abstract:Recent progress and the latest results on the bulk thermodynamic properties of QCD matter from lattice are reviewed. In particular, I will stress upon the fact that lattice techniques are now entering into precision era where they can provide us with new insights on even the microscopic degrees of freedom in different phases of QCD. I will discuss some instances, from the recent studies of topological fluctuations and screening masses. The progress towards understanding the effects of anomalous $U_A(1)$ symmetry on the chiral crossover transition and transport properties of QCD matter will also be discussed.

Abstract:Standard lattice calculations in kaon physics are based on the evaluation of matrix elements of local operators between two single-hadron states or a single-hadron state and the vacuum. Recent progress in lattice QCD has gone beyond these standard observables. I will review the status and prospects of lattice kaon physics with an emphasis on non-leptonic K → ππ decay and long-distance processes including K0-K0 mixing and rare kaon decays.

Abstract:In this talk, I present my personal view on the status of lattice QCD calculations. I emphasize the role played by the chiral perturbation theory (ChPT) in analyzing the lattice data of various physical quantities, including chiral condensate, topological susceptibility, and pion mass and decay constant. I then discuss on the status of determination of fundamental parameters and other quantities of phenomenological interest.

Abstract:Ongoing challenges in computing the spectrum of hadronic resonances and shallow bound-states from lattice QCD are reviewed. Since such states are identified as poles in the scattering matrix, nearby non-analyticities must be treated to analytically continue to complex center-of-mass energies. Significant lattice spacing effects have also been observed in some channels, necessitating a continuum limit. Recent achievements are also highlighted, including lattice investigations of states in the charm region, baryon-baryon scattering, and the first coupled channel meson-baryon amplitude in the $\Lambda(1405)$ channel.

Abstract:This review provides a comprehensive summary of results on the physics of strongly interacting matter in the presence of background electromagnetic fields, obtained via numerical lattice simulations of the underlying theory, Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). Lattice QCD has guided our understanding of magnetized quarks and gluons via landmark results on the phase diagram, the equation of state, the confinemenent mechanism, anomalous transport phenomena as well as many more fascinating effects. Some of the lattice results lead to completely new paradigms in the description of hot magnetized quark matter and provided useful insights to a broad high-energy particle physics community. Since the first lattice QCD simulations with background fields, this field has been established as an independent research direction. We present the current status and recent developments of this field, together with an outlook including open questions to be answered in the near future.

Abstract:Recent lattice results on the meson and baryon spectrum with a focus on the determination of hadronic resonance masses and widths using a combined basis of single-hadron and hadron-hadron interpolating fields are reviewed. These mostly exploratory calculations differ from traditional lattice QCD spectrum calculations for states stable under QCD, where calculations with a full uncertainty estimate are already routinely performed. Progress and challenges in these calculations are highlighted.

Abstract:Supersymmetric gauge theories in four dimensions have taught us many important physics lessons. These can both inform and be informed by future work on the lattice. I focus on three issues: the properties of supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and its relation to the non-supersymmetric case; the properties of gauge theories with matter and their relation to real QCD; and, briefly, the recent discovery that gauge theories and string theories are more deeply connected than ever previously realized. Specific questions for lattice gauge theorists to consider are raised in the context of the first two topics.

Abstract:Lattice quantum chromodynamics (lattice QCD) provides a well-established approach to studying strong nonperturbative interactions. It plays an indispensable role in the frontiers of high-energy and nuclear physics. With the improvement in the precision of lattice QCD calculations and the development of theoretical methods, the frontier of lattice QCD has been greatly expanded, and some new interdisciplinary fields have emerged. An important field is atomic spectroscopy. With the increasing accuracy of the observables in atomic spectroscopy, the hadronic effects related to the nucleon structure must be considered, among which the two-photon exchange corrections are particularly important and have recently received much theoretical and experimental attention. This paper briefly introduces the lattice QCD approach and two important observables in atomic spectroscopy: the Lamb shift and hyperfine splitting, as well as their two-photon exchange corrections. We then report the recent progress of the lattice QCD study in this field and discuss the important impact it may have.

Abstract:Recent advances in lattice field theory, in computer technology and in chiral perturbation theory have enabled lattice QCD to emerge as a powerful quantitative tool in understanding hadron structure. I describe recent progress in the computation of the nucleon form factors and moments of parton distribution functions, before proceeding to describe lattice studies of the Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs). In particular, I show how lattice studies of GPDs contribute to building a three-dimensional picture of the proton. I conclude by describing the prospects for studying the structure of resonances from lattice QCD.
