Abstract:For any commutative finite flat group scheme, Grothendieck constructed an embedding into some smooth group scheme. This embedding is called the Grothendieck resolution. Let $p$ be a prime number and $n$ a positive integer. In connection with the normal basis problems in the framework of group schemes proposed by Suwa and the author, we consider the Grothendieck resolution for a certain finite flat commutative group scheme of order $p^{n}$ over an $\Bbb{F}_{p}$-algebra.

Computing Gröbner Bases and Free Resolutions of OI-Modules

Abstract:Given a sequence of related modules $M_n$ defined over a sequence of related polynomial rings, one may ask how to simultaneously compute a finite Gröbner basis for each $M_n$. Furthermore, one may ask how to simultaneously compute the module of syzygies of each $M_n$. In this paper we address both questions. Working in the setting of OI-modules over a Noetherian polynomial OI-algebra, we provide OI-analogues of Buchberger's Criterion, Buchberger's Algorithm for computing Gröbner bases, and Schreyer's Theorem for computing syzygies. We also establish a stabilization result for Gröbner bases.

Noncommutative resolutions of AS-Gorenstein isolated singularites

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate noncommutative resolutions of (generalized) AS-Gorenstein isolated singularities. Noncommutative resolutions in graded case are achieved as the graded endomorphism rings of some finitely generated graded modules, which are seldom $\mathbb{N}$-graded algebras but bounded-below $\mathbb{Z}$-graded algebras. So, the paper works on locally finite bounded-below $\mathbb{Z}$-graded algebras. We first define and study noncommutative projective schemes after Artin-Zhang, and define noncommutative quasi-projective spaces as the base spaces of noncommutative projective schemes. The equivalences between noncommutative quasi-projective spaces are proved to be induced by so-called modulo-torsion-invertible bimodules, which is in fact a Morita-like theory at the quotient category level. Based on the equivalences, we propose a definition of noncommutative resolutions of generalized AS-Gorenstein isolated singularities, and prove that such noncommutative resolutions are generalized AS regular algebras. The center of any noncommutative resolution is isomorphic to the center of the original generalized AS-Gorenstein isolated singularity. In the final part we prove that a noncommutative resolution of an AS-Gorenstein isolated singularity of dimension $d$ is given by an MCM generator $M$ if and only if $M$ is a $(d-1)$-cluster tilting module. A noncommutative version of the Bondal-Orlov conjecture is also proved to be true in dimension 2 and 3.

Big pure projective modules over commutative noetherian rings: comparison with the completion

Abstract:A module over a ring $R$ is pure projective provided it is isomorphic to a direct summand of a direct sum of finitely presented modules. We develop tools for the classification of pure projective modules over commutative noetherian rings. In particular, for a fixed finitely presented module $M$, we consider $\mathrm{Add}\, (M)$, which consists of direct summands of direct sums of copies of $M$. We are primarily interested in the case where $R$ is a one-dimensional, local domain, and in torsion-free (or Cohen-Macaulay) modules. We show that, even in this case, $\mathrm{Add}\, (M)$ can have an abundance of modules that are not direct sums of finitely generated ones. Our work is based on the fact that such infinitely generated direct summands are all determined by finitely generated data. Namely, idempotent/trace ideals of the endomorphism ring of $M$ and finitely generated projective modules modulo such idempotent ideals. This allows us to extend the classical theory developed to study the behavior of direct sum decomposition of finitely generated modules comparing with their completion to the infinitely generated case. We study the structure of the monoid $V^*(M)$, of isomorphism classes of countably generated modules in $\mathrm{Add}\, (M)$ with the addition induced by the direct sum. We show that $V^*(M)$ is a submonoid of $V^*(M\otimes _R \widehat R)$, this allows us to make computations with examples and to prove some realization results.

Koszul-Tate resolutions and decorated trees

Abstract:Given a commutative algebra $\mathcal O$, a proper ideal $\mathcal I$, and a resolution of $\mathcal O/ \mathcal I$ by projective $\mathcal O $-modules, we construct an explicit Koszul-Tate resolution. We call it the arborescent Koszul-Tate resolution since it is indexed by decorated trees. When the $ \mathcal O$-module resolution has finite length, only finitely many operations are needed in our constructions -- this is to be compared with the classical Tate algorithm, which requires infinitely many such computations if $ \mathcal I$ is not a complete intersection. As a by-product of our construction, the initial projective $\mathcal O $-module resolution becomes equipped with an explicit $A_\infty$-algebra.

Abstract:Following the well-established terminology in commutative algebra, any (not necessarily commutative) finite-dimensional local algebra.. with radical.. will be said to be short provided J(3) = 0. As in the commutative case, we show: If a short local algebra.. has an indecomposable non-projective Gorenstein-projective module M, then either A is self-injective (so that all modules are Gorenstein-projective) and then, of course, vertical bar J(2)vertical bar <= 1, or else vertical bar J(2)vertical bar = vertical bar J/J(2)vertical bar - 1 and vertical bar JM vertical bar = vertical bar J(2)vertical bar vertical bar M/JM vertical bar. More generally, we focus the attention to semi-Gorensteinprojective and 8-torsionfree modules, even to Omega-paths of length 2, 3 and 4. In particular, we show that the existence of a non-projective reflexive module implies that vertical bar J(2)vertical bar < vertical bar J/J(2)vertical bar and further restrictions. In addition, we consider exact complexes of projective modules with a non-projective image. Again, as in the commutative case, we see that if such a complex exists, then.. is self-injective or satisfies the condition vertical bar J(2)vertical bar = vertical bar J/J(2)vertical bar - 1. Also, we show that any non-projective semi-Gorensteinprojective module M satisfies Ext(1)(M, M) not equal 0. In this way, we prove the Auslander-Reiten conjecture (one of the classical homological conjectures) for arbitrary short local algebras. Many arguments used in the commutative case actually work in general, but there are interesting differences and some of our results may be new also in the commutative case.
Combinatorial free chain complexes over quotient polynomial rings

Abstract:We present a procedure that constructs, in a combinatorial manner, a chain complex of free modules over a polynomial ring in finitely many variables, modulo an ideal generated by quadratic monomials. Applying this procedure to two specific rings and one family of rings, we demonstrate that the resulting chain complex is indeed an exact chain complex and thus a free resolution. Utilizing this free resolution, we show that, for these rings, the injective dimension is infinite, as modules over itself. Finally, we propose the conjecture that this procedure always yields a free resolution.

Abstract:In this article, we introduce a class of generalized matrix algebras, in which each algebra is called a normally upper triangular gm algebra, and characterise Gorenstein projective modules over this class of algebras. Moreover, a sufficient condition of strongly Gorenstein projective modules over normally upper triangular gm algebras is given. The importance of normally upper triangular gm algebras for us is that it includes the so-called path algebras of quivers over algebras and generalized path algebras. Due to this, we characterize Gorenstein projective modules and strongly Gorenstein projective modules over path algebras of quivers over algebras and generalized path algebras as applications of the main results on normally upper triangular gm algebras. At last, we give an example to show how all indecomposable Gorenstein projective modules over a given algebra are constructed by the result on generalized path algebras.

Abstract:In this article we show that, given a quadratic algebra satisfying some assumptions, which we call having a resolving datum, one can construct a projective resolution of the trivial module which is obtained as iterated cones of Koszul complexes, and this projective resolution is minimal under some further assumptions. We observe that many examples of quadratic algebras studied so far have a resolving datum, and that the (minimal) projective resolutions constructed for all of them in the literature are an example of our construction. The second main result of the article is that the Fomin-Kirillov algebra $\operatorname{FK}(4)$ of index $4$ has a resolving datum.

Abstract:We give an efficient algorithmic method to calculate minimal projective resolutions of simple modules for a finite dimensional incidence $k$-algebra $\Lambda$, where $k$ is a field. We apply the method to the calculation of $Ext$-groups between simple $\Lambda$-modules, Hochschild cohomology groups $HH^i(\Lambda, \Lambda)$, and singular cohomology groups of finite $T_0$ topological spaces with coefficients in $k$.

Abstract:We determine all the strongly complete projective resolutions, and all the strongly Gorenstein projective modules, over upper triangular matrix artin algebras. Fitting Ideals of Projective Limits of Modules over Non-Noetherian Iwasawa Algebras

Abstract:Greither and Kurihara proved a theorem about the commutativity of projective limits and Fitting ideals for modules over the classical equivariant Iwasawa algebra $\Lambda_G=\mathbb{Z}_p[[T]][G]$, where $G$ is a finite, abelian group and $\Bbb Z_p$ is the ring of $p$--adic integers, for some prime $p$. In this paper, we generalize their result first to the Noetherian Iwasawa algebra $\mathbb{Z}_p[[T_1, T_2, \cdots, T_n]][G]$ and, most importantly, to the non-Noetherian algebra $\mathbb{Z}_p[[T_1, T_2, \cdots, T_n, \cdots]][G]$ of countably many generators. The latter generalization is motivated by the recent work of Bley-Popescu on the geometric Equivariant Iwasawa Conjecture for function fields, where the Iwasawa algebra is not Noetherian, of the type described above. Applications of these results to the emerging field of non-Noetherian Iwasawa Theory will be given in an upcoming paper.

The cokernel functor relates module factorizations with Gorenstein projective components to Gorenstein projective modules over the quotient ring. The results are vast extensions of Eisenbud's matrix factorization theorem.

Abstract:We extend recent results in order to construct projective resolutions for modules over twisted tensor products of truncated polynomial rings. We begin by taking note of the conditions necessary to think of these algebras as a type of Ore extension. We then use this parallel with Ore extensions to develop a method for constructing projective resolutions. Finally, we use the new construction to compute a resolution for a family of examples.

Abstract:We study Tate cohomology of modules over a commutative Noetherian ring with respect to semidualizing modules. First, we show that the class of modules admitting a Tate F-C-resolution is exactly the class of modules in BC with finite GF(C)-projective dimension. Abstract:We determine all the Gorenstein-projective modules over the T2-extension of a Gorenstein algebra, and over (AM0B), where A and B are self-injective algebras, and M is an A-B bimodule with MA and MB projective. Using this, we obtain a criterion for the CM-finiteness of the T2-extensions of CM-finite Gorenstein algebras. As an application we get non-trivial examples of CM-finite Gorenstein algebras.
