Abstract:Homoeosoma oxyargentella sp. nov. is described from the Leningrad Province of Russia. The new species can be distinguished by very short wedge-shaped processes of vinculum, rather narrow valva, relatively long sacculus, and straight or only slightly convex anterior margin of gnathos in male genitalia; and by elongate signa, short eighth tergum, and short posterior apophyses in females. A key to the European species of the genus Homoeosoma Curtis, 1833 is given based on the male genitalia and external characters.

Abstract:Tripylina zhejiangensis n. sp. is described and illustrated from Zhejiang province, eastern China. It has a robust body, smooth cuticle with numerous pores, two small subventral teeth in the posterior part of the large triangular dorsal tooth, one ventral-median seta in the cervical region and a pair of setae on the tail. Females are characterized by a body length of 1325-1573 µm, a = 23.3-31.2, b = 5.5-6.6, c = 13.6-19.4, c'= 2.7-3.6 and V = 61.1-68.1%. Small subunit (SSU) and D2/D3 expansion segments of large subunit (LSU) of ribosomal DNA were used to analyze the phylogenetic relationships of sequenced species in the genus Tripylina. Tripylina zhejiangensis n. sp. varied significantly from other related nematodes both in morphological characterizations and phylogenetic analyses.

Abstract:In this study, we describe two new species of Mesobiotus based on morphological data collected through light and scanning electron microscopy. Descriptions include DNA sequences of four commonly used molecular markers (18S rDNA, 28S rDNA, ITS-2, and COI). Mesobiotus efa sp. nov. was discovered in North-West Russia and belongs to the group of species with smooth cuticle, harmsworthi-type OCA, typical Mesobiotus claws IV with unindented lunules, and egg chorion with reticulated processes in form of ‘sharp wide cones’ or ‘cones with long slender endings’, egg process bases with well-developed crone of dark thickenings without finger-like projections, and egg shell surface between the processes with ridges without reticulation, areolation or semi-areolation. It can be distinguished from all know species of this group by a unique combination of morphological and morphometric characters. Mesobiotus vulpinus sp. nov. was found in the Russian Far East, and is similar to Mesobiotus mauccii by having an egg chorion with polygonal relief. The new species can be distinguished from M. mauccii by having a narrower buccal tube, by details of oral cavity armature, and by longer egg chorion processes. Furthermore, we provide results of the phylogenetic analyses of the genus Mesobiotus conducted in this study.

Abstract:Two new species, Repetekiodes serratalis sp. nov. and Repetekiodes turanella sp. nov. are described from Central Asia. The described species are well distinguished from their congeners by the genitalia and forewing pattern. Abstract:The study of specimens of Lipoptena fortisetosa Maa, 1965 from various populations of its modern range revealed the presence of two forms that differ morphologically and genetically. Form A corresponds to the original description; form B is distinguished by the presence of a prescutellar suture and 4–5 acrostichal, 4–6 postalar setae. We hypothesise that initially these forms were associated with different hosts and were separated geographically. The L. fortisetosa species was introduced to Europe at least twice from different places and with different hosts. Later, both forms were able to move to other hosts. Now form A lives in Western Europe, Kazakhstan, and the south of the Russian Far East, and form B lives in Eastern Europe, the Sayan Mountains and the Baikal region.

Abstract:Onychopterocheilus (Asiapterocheilus) proshchalykini Fateryga, sp. nov. is described from the Altai Republic (Russia). The new species is closely related to O. (A.) kiritshenkoi (Kostylev, 1940) but distinctly differs from it by the structure of the clypeus, the female vertex and scutellum, the male genitalia, as well as the coloration. In addition, O. proshchalykini has somewhat larger body size. Onychopterocheilus kiritshenkoi is re-described. Both species have the northernmost distribution among 13 currently recognized species of the Central Asian subgenus Asiapterocheilus. Onychopterocheilus chinensis Gusenleitner, 2005 is transferred to this subgenus from the nominotypical one. Onychopterocheilus kiritshenkoi is recorded from the Altai Republic for the first time; two new localities of this species from Mongolia are also reported. Females of O. kiritshenkoi were observed at flowers of two species of Fabaceae: Caragana bungei Ledeb. and Vicia costata Ledeb. The wasps acted as primary nectar robbers, i.e., they made holes in the calyx to access nectar with their relatively long proboscises.

Abstract:Polypedilum (Cerobregma) paucisetum sp. n. and P. (Tripodura) nudiprostatum sp. n., with peculiar superior volsellae are described as male imagines from Oriental China. P. (C.) paucisetum has an Uresipedilum-like superior volsella. The superior volsella of P. (T.) nudiprostatum is slender and non-clavate with 11–13 apical setae. A phylogenetic analysis places P. (C.) paucisetum as the sister species of the remaining members of the subgenus. P. (T.) nudiprostatum apparently belongs to the pullum group of Tripodura.

Abstract:The genus Wittia de Freina, 1980 was described for Bombyx aureola Hübner, [1803] (a junior synonym of Wittia sororcula (Hufnagel, 1766)), which in the modern sense is a paraphyletic taxon containing three groups of species. This study (1) describes a new genus, Prozorovia gen. nov., for three Indian species belonging to the genus Wittia previously; (2) describes the female of Prozorovia kailashi (Singh & Kirti, 2016) comb. nov. for the first time (this species was described based on two males); (3) reports on the first record of P. kailashi comb. nov. from Pakistan; and (4) illustrates the male external morphology and the male genitalia of P. kailashi comb. nov.

Abstract:A review of eight species of the genus Platydracus Thomson, 1858 inhabiting the Russian Far East is given. Two species are recorded for the fauna of Russia for the first time: P. inornatus (Sharp, 1874) from Primorskii krai and Khabarovskii krai and P. vicarius (Sharp, 1889) from Jewish Autonomous oblast and Primorskii krai. P. mortuorum (Bernhauer, 1912) is new for the fauna of Khabarovskii krai and P. demissus (Müller, 1925) is new for the fauna of Amurskaya oblast. A key to seven species of the genus Platydracus of the Russian Far East fauna is provided.

Abstract:Three new species of the lace bug genus Physatocheila Fieber, 1844 (Heteroptera: Tingidae) from China (Sichuan and Yunnan provinces) are described: Ph. explanata sp. nov., Ph. angusta sp. nov., and Ph. potanini sp. nov. A new subspecies Ph. miyatakei latiuscula subsp. nov. is described from China (Sichuan Province) and the southern part of the Primorskiy Territory, the Far East of Russia. Abstract:The adult male, pupa, larva with DNA barcoding of Ps. matafonovi sp. nov. and the adult male of Ps. silinka sp. nov. from Amur River basin of Russia are described and illustrated. Ps. matafonovi sp. nov. is genetically distant from other Pseudokiefferiella showing uncorrected p-distances of >6.8 %. The results of species delimitation show that genus Pseudokiefferiella includes 10 (mPTP), 13 (ASAP, GMYC) or 14 (BOLD) distinct molecular taxonomic units (mOTUs) that requires a revision of this genus using both morphological and molecular approaches.

Abstract:Two new species are described: Leptochilus (Euleptochilus) barkalovi Fateryga, sp. nov. from Turkmenistan and L. (Lionotulus) puzanovi Fateryga, sp. nov. from Dagestan Republic, Russia. Leptochilus barkalovi is closely related to L. (E.) limbiferus (Morawitz, 1867) from which differs, in the male sex, by narrower clypeus, blunter angles of pronotum, longer pilosity on head and mesosoma, and light-colored apical lamella of tergum 2, as well as a different structure of flagellomere 11 and aedeagus. Leptochilus puzanovi is apparently related to L. (Lionotulus) tarsatus (de Saussure, 1855) from which differs, in the female sex, by broader head, deeper emarginate apical margin of clypeus, broader mesosoma, and dark brown apical lamella of tergum 2. The hitherto unknown males of L. (Lionotulus) incertus (Kostylev, 1940) and L. (L.) leleji Fateryga, 2019 are described; the females are re-described. For the first time, L. incertus is reported from Mongolia and L. leleji from Tyva Republic, Russia. Leptochilus (Lionotulus) nacrocephalus (Kostylev, 1940), stat. nov. is raised to a full species, re-described, and reported for the first time from Armenia.

Abstract:Until now, the subgenus Lyrothorax Chaudoir, 1838 (genus Pterostichus Bonelli, 1810) in the Western Palaearctic included only the type species, P. caspius (Ménétriés, 1832), distributed along the southern Caspian Sea in Azerbaijan and Iran and, as an introduced species, in the Czech Republic. Studying rich material, including the types, it was found that under the name P. caspius there is a species complex comprising three closely related species, two of these are described in this paper: P. fritzei sp. n. from Iran (type locality Naharkhoran, Gorgan) and P. vagus sp. n. from Iran, which was also introduced to the Czech Republic (type locality Shaskola, Gorgan). These new species differ clearly from each other, as well as from P. caspius, mainly in the features of the median lobe of the aedeagus and its endophallus. A lectotype of P. caspius is designated to ensure the stability of the nomenclature. An identification key, images of all three species and distribution maps are provided. The occurrence of species of Lyrothorax in the Iranian province of North Khorasan and Turkmenistan is not obvious and requires confirmation.

Abstract:The new species Euphanias sergreevae sp. nov. from the shores of a saline lake in Western Siberia, Russia is described in this paper. The paper examines the type material of two closely related species Euphanias pusanovi Blinstein, 1976 and Euphanias pliginskii Bernhauer, 1912. The species are illustrated with color photographs of the habitus and aedeagus, scanning electron micrographs, and line drawings of the terminalia. A complete distribution map for all members of the genus is given and distribution patterns are discussed.

Abstract:Biodiversity conservation is an important goal of most ecosystem management efforts. Therefore, proper monitoring of biodiversity requires constant attention. Coleoptera should be monitored as an essential part of the overall biodiversity. Special monitoring is needed for families that are active as predators (e.g. Coccinellidae) or are saproxylic species (e.g. Elateridae and Cerambycidae). The aim of the research is to describe the fauna of seven families of Coleoptera (Elateridae, Drilidae, Lycidae, Lampyridae, Cantharidae, Coccinellidae and Cerambycidae) of the Republic of Mordovia (the centre of the European part of Russia). The results are based on faunistic research, the main part of which was carried out in April-October 2007-2023 and on material from museum collections. The collecting was made using several different methods (by hand, light trapping, on different lures, into pitfall traps etc.). GPS coordinates are given for each faunistic record. The dataset contains information on seven species new to the region: Malthodes flavoguttatus Kiesenwetter, 1852, Malthodes minimus (Linnaeus, 1758) (Cantharidae); Scymnus rubromaculatus (Goeze, 1777) (Coccinellidae); Anoplodera rufipes ventralis Heyden, 1886, Tragosoma depsarium (Linnaeus, 1767), Xylotrechus arvicola (Olivier, 1795) and Xylotrechus ibex (Gebler, 1825) (Cerambycidae).

Abstract:The description of Acnemia sibirica was published by G.P. Ostroverkhova in her 1979 monograph. The species, however, was mistakenly given as it had been described in 1978. Moreover, it was not explicitly indicated as a new species (except in the legend for the figure of male terminalia), and type specimens were not designated. Evidently, due to confusion with the original description, the species was not mentioned in the recent literature and was not included in the online taxonomic databases. Anyway, the name complies with the availability criteria according to the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, and hence the species should be treated as Acnemia sibirica Ostroverkhova, 1979. The identity of the species can be reliably established based on the original figures by G.P. Ostroverkhova and on preserved slides. The species is here redescribed, and illustrations of the male terminalia for both type and new specimens are provided. Lectotype and paralectotypes are designated. New data on species’ distribution are reported.

Abstract:A new cave-dwelling species of Ptiloneuropsis from southeastern Brazil, is here described based on both sexes, illustrated and named as: Ptiloneuropsis krenaki sp. nov. This new species differs from Ptiloneuropsis immaculata Roesler, 1940 and Ptiloneuropsis diamantina Silva-Neto, García Aldrete & Rafael, 2018 in details of the hypandrium and phallosome. In addition to the third new species of the Ptiloneuropsis, descriptions of variation in the fore and hindwings veins are also given. The diagnosis of Ptiloneuropsis is updated, and P. immaculata is redescribed. Furthermore, the first identification key for Ptiloneuropsis species, based on males, is presented.

Abstract:Rove beetles (Staphylinidae) are a diverse insect group, especially in the Neotropical region. At the same time, this fauna remains significantly understudied. During our visits to museum collections, we encountered numerous specimens of undescribed species representing the Neotropical genus Neolindus Scheerpeltz, 1933 which was earlier thought to be rare. To address the knowledge gap in the genus, we studied the museum material that resulted in descriptions of 21 new species. Our work involves the redescription of the genus, descriptions of the new species, and an updated identification key to 39 previously described and new species. Additionally, we provide several new country records for the genus (Guyana, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Suriname), which widen its distribution, and new occurrence records for the described species of Neolindus, N. agilis Herman, 1991; N. apiculus Herman, 1991; N. basisinuatus Herman, 1991; N. campbelli Herman, 1991; N. cuneatus Herman, 1991; N. hermani Asenjo, 2011; N. irmleri Asenjo, 2011; N. lodhii Herman, 1991; N. procarinatus Herman, 1991; N. punctogularis Herman, 1991; and N. retusus Herman, 1991.

Abstract:In this study, Hyperlais cakiri sp. nov. is described and illustrated from the east of Türkiye. The new species is compared with the closely related species H. nemausalis (Duponchel, [1834]) and H. elbursalis (Amsel, 1961). Moreover, Polyochodes albidiscella (Amsel, 1954), previously known only from the type locality in Iran, is recorded as new to the Turkish fauna. Male adult and genital pictures of P. albidiscella as well as those of P. farsella (Amsel, 1951) are presented.
