Abstract:We give the relationship between indecomposable modules over the finite dimensional $ k $-algebra $ A $ and the smash product $ A\sharp G $ respectively, where $ G $ is a finite abelian group satisfying $ G\subseteq Aut(A) $, and $ k $ is an algebraically closed field with the characteristic not dividing the order of $ G $. More precisely, we construct all indecomposable $ A\sharp G $-modules from indecomposable $ A $-modules and prove that an $ A\sharp G $-module is indecomposable if and only if it is an indecomposable $ G $-stable module over $ A $. Besides, we give the relationship between simple, projective and injective modules in $ modA $ and those in $ modA\sharp G $.
The $n+3$, $n+4$ dimensional homotopy groups of $\mathbf{A}_n^2$-complexes

Abstract:In this paper, we calculate the $n+3$, $n+4$ dimensional homotopy groups of indecomposable $\mathbf{A}_n^2$-complexes after localization at 2. This job is seen as a sequel to P.J. Hilton's work on the $n+1,n+2$ dimensional homotopy groups of $\mathbf{A}_n^2$-complexes (1950-1951). The main technique used is analysing the homotopy property of $J(X,A)$, defined by B. Gray for a CW-pair $(X,A)$, which is homotopy equivalent to the homotopy fibre of the pinch map $X\cup CA\rightarrow \Sigma A$. By the way, the results of these homotopy groups have been used to make progress on recent popular topic about the homotopy decomposition of the (multiple) suspension of oriented closed manifolds.

The main technique used is analysing the homotopy property of $J(X,A)$, defined by B. Gray for a CW-pair $(X,A)$, which is homotopy equivalent to the homotopy fibre of the pinch map $X\cup CA\rightarrow \Sigma A$.

Abstract:Let H be a semisimple Hopf algebra over a field of characteristic 0, and A a finite-dimensional transitive H-module algebra with a 1-dimensional ideal. It is proved that the smash product A#H is isomorphic to a full matrix algebra over some right coideal subalgebra N of H. The correspondence between A and such N and the special case A = k(X) of function algebra on a finite set X are considered.

Abstract:Let H = X boxed times(R) A denote an R-smash product of the two bialgebras X and A. We prove that (X, A) is a pair of matched bialgebras, if the R-smash product H has a braiding structure. When X is an associative algebra and A is a Hopf algebra, we investigate the global dimension and the weak dimension of the smash product H = X boxed times(R) A and show that lD(H) <= rD(A) + lD(X) and wD(H) <= wD(A) + wD(X). As an application, we get lD(H-4) = infinity for Sweedler's four dimensional Hopf algebra H-4. We also study the associativity of smash products and the relations between smash products and factorization for algebras.
Cancellation for $(G,n)$-complexes and the Swan finiteness obstruction

Abstract:In previous work, we related homotopy types of finite $(G,n)$-complexes when $G$ has periodic cohomology to projective $\mathbb{Z} G$-modules representing the Swan finiteness obstruction. We use this to determine when $X \vee S^n \simeq Y \vee S^n$ implies $X \simeq Y$ for finite $(G,n)$-complexes $X$ and $Y$, and give lower bounds on the number of homotopically distinct pairs when this fails. The proof involves constructing projective $\mathbb{Z} G$-modules as lifts of locally free modules over orders in products of quaternion algebras, whose existence follows from the Eichler mass formula. In the case $n=2$, difficulties arise which lead to a new approach to finding a counterexample to Wall's D2 problem.

Vertex decomposability of complexes associated to forests

Abstract:In this article, we discuss the vertex decomposability of three well-studied simplicial complexes associated to forests. In particular, we show that the bounded degree complex of a forest and the complex of directed trees of a multidiforest are vertex decomposable. We then prove that the non-cover complex of a forest is either contractible or homotopy equivalent to a sphere. Finally, we provide a complete characterization of forests whose non-cover complexes are vertex decomposable.

Abstract:Let H be a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra and A a finite-dimensional H-simple left H-module algebra. We show that the smash product A#H is isomorphic to End(A)(V circle times H*), where V0 is a finite-dimensional left A-module and (A, V) the stabilizer of (A, V). As an application it is proved that A#H is isomorphic to a full matrix algebra over A when H is semisimple and dimV|dimA.

Abstract:We prove that the Yoneda Ext-algebra of a Takeuchi smash product is the graded Takeuchi smash product of the Yoneda Ext-algebras of the two algebras or modules involved. As an application, we prove that graded Takeuchi smash products preserve Artin-Schelter regularity, and describe the Nakayama automorphism of the product.

Abstract:We show that the complex of partial bases of the free group of rank $n$, where vertices are seen up to conjugation, is Cohen--Macaulay of dimension $n-1$. This positively answers a conjecture raised by Day and Putman. We prove our results in the more general context of freely decomposable groups.

Abstract: Let $H$ be a semisimple Hopf algebra over an algebraically closed field $\mathbbm{k}$ of characteristic $p>\dim_{\mathbbm{k}}(H)^{1/2}$ and $p\nmid 2\dim_{\mathbbm{k}}(H)$. In this paper, we consider the smash product semisimple Hopf algebra $H\#\mathbbm{k}G$, where $G$ is a cyclic group of order $n:=2\dim_{\mathbbm{k}}(H)$. Using irreducible representations of $H$ and those of $\mathbbm{k}G$, we determine all non-isomorphic irreducible representations of $H\#\mathbbm{k}G$. There is a close relationship between the Grothendieck algebra $(G_0(H\#\mathbbm{k}G)\otimes_{\mathbb{Z}}\mathbbm{k},*)$ of $H\#\mathbbm{k}G$ and the Grothendieck algebra $(G_0(H)\otimes_{\mathbb{Z}}\mathbbm{k},*)$ of $H$. To establish this connection, we endow with a new multiplication operator $\star$ on $G_0(H)\otimes_{\mathbb{Z}}\mathbbm{k}$ and show that the Grothendieck algebra $(G_0(H\#\mathbbm{k}G)\otimes_{\mathbb{Z}}\mathbbm{k},\ast)$ is isomorphic to the direct sum of $(G_0(H)\otimes_{\mathbb{Z}}\mathbbm{k},*)^{\oplus\frac{n}{2}}$ and $(G_0(H)\otimes_{\mathbb{Z}}\mathbbm{k},\star)^{\oplus\frac{n}{2}}$.

Abstract:A complex hyperplane arrangement $\mathcal{A}$ is said to be decomposable if there are no elements in the degree 3 part of its holonomy Lie algebra besides those coming from the rank 2 flats. When this purely combinatorial condition is satisfied, it is known that the associated graded Lie algebra of the arrangement group $G$ decomposes (in degrees greater than 1) as a direct product of free Lie algebras. It follows that the $I$-adic completion of the Alexander invariant $B(G)$ also decomposes as a direct sum of "local" invariants and the Chen ranks of $G$ are the sums of the local contributions. Moreover, if $B(G)$ is separated, then the degree 1 cohomology jump loci of the complement of $\mathcal{A}$ have only local components, and the algebraic monodromy of the Milnor fibration is trivial in degree 1.

Abstract:We want to study the smash product of pointed topological spaces, in an organic way and full generality, without relying on some 'convenient subcategory'. The n -ary smash product has a 'colax' form of associativity, which supplies a categorical framework for the properties of this operation and its connection with the function spaces. Various concrete computations of smash products are given, including a large class of cases where associativity fails. Lax and colax monoidal structures are unusual and interesting, in category theory. Some parts of this note will be obvious to a topologist and others to a categorist, in order to take into account both backgrounds.

Combinatorial isoperimetric inequality for the free factor complex

Abstract:We show that the free factor complex of the free group of rank at least 3 does not satisfy a combinatorial isoperimetric inequality: that is, for every N greater than or equal to 3, there is a loop of length 4 in the free factor complex that only bounds discs containing at least O(N) triangles. To prove the result, we construct a coarsely Lipschitz function from the `upward link' of a free factor to the set of integers.

Abstract:We consider the factorization problem for bialgebras. Let L and H be algebras and coalgebras (but not necessarily bialgebras) and consider two maps R : H ⊗ L → L ⊗ H and W : L ⊗ H → H ⊗ L . We introduce a product K = L W ⋈ R H and we give necessary and sufficient conditions for K to be a bialgebra. Our construction generalizes products introduced by Majid and Radford. Also, some of the pointed Hopf algebras that were recently constructed by Beattie, Dăscălescu and Grünenfelder appear as special cases.
Decomposition of the algebra of analytic functionals on a connected complex Lie group and its completions into iterated analytic smash products

Abstract:We show that a decomposition of a complex Lie group $G$ into a semidirect product generates that of the algebra of analytic functional, ${\mathscr A}(G)$, into an analytic smash product in the sense of Pirkovskii. Also we find sufficient conditions for a semidirect product to generate similar decompositions of certain Arens-Michael completions of ${\mathscr A}(G)$. The main result: if $G$ is connected, then its linearization admits a decomposition into an iterated semidirect product (with the composition series consisting of abelian factors and a semisimple factor) that induces a decomposition of algebras in a class of completions of ${\mathscr A}(G)$ into iterated analytic smash products. Considering the extreme cases, the envelope of ${\mathscr A}(G)$ in the class of all Banach algebras (aka the Arens-Michael envelope) and the envelope in the class Banach PI-algebras (a new concept that is introduced in this article), we decompose, in particular, these envelopes into iterated analytic smash products.

Abstract:We develop a new spectral sequence in order to calculate Hochschild homology of smash biproducts (also called twisted tensor products) of unital associative algebras $A\# B$ provided one of $A$ or $B$ has Hochschild dimension less than 2. We use this spectral sequence to calculate Hochschild homology of quantum tori, multiparametric quantum affine spaces, quantum complete intersections, quantum Weyl algebras, deformed completed Weyl algebras, and finally the algebra $M_q(2)$ of quantum $2\times 2$-matrices.

Abstract:Let $X,Y$ be $(n-1)$-connected finite pointed CW-complexes of dimension at most $n+2$, $n\geq 3$. In this paper we give elementary proofs of the abelian group structure of $[X,Y]$ of homotopy classes of based maps from $X$ to $Y$, which was due to Baues and Schmidt. Furthermore, we determine the explicit generators associated to $[X,Y]$. As an application, we compute certain (sub)groups of self-homotopy equivalences of certain Chang complexes.
