Abstract:We define and study an alternative partial order, called the spectral order, on a synaptic algebra-a generalization of the self-adjoint part of a von Neumann algebra. We prove that if the synaptic algebra A is norm complete (a Banach synaptic algebra), then under the spectral order, A is Dedekind sigma-complete lattice, and the corresponding effect algebra E is a sigma-complete lattice. Moreover, E can be organized into a Brouwer-Zadeh algebra in both the usual (synaptic) and spectral ordering; and if A is Banach, then E is a Brouwer-Zadeh lattice in the spectral ordering. If A is of finite type, then De Morgan laws hold on E in both the synaptic and spectral ordering.
Type Isomorphisms for Multiplicative-Additive Linear Logic

Abstract:We characterize type isomorphisms in the multiplicative-additive fragment of linear logic (MALL), and thus in *-autonomous categories with finite products, extending a result for the multiplicative fragment by Balat and Di Cosmo. This yields a much richer equational theory involving distributivity and cancellation laws. The unit-free case is obtained by relying on the proof-net syntax introduced by Hughes and Van Glabbeek. We use the sequent calculus to extend our results to full MALL, including all units, thanks to a study of cut-elimination and rule commutations.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of an anti-dendriform algebra as a new approach of splitting the associativity. It is characterized as the algebra with two multiplications giving their left and right multiplication operators, respectively, such that the opposites of these operators define a bimodule structure on the sum of these two multiplications, which is associative. This justifies the terminology due to a closely analogous characterization of a dendriform algebra. The notions of anti- -operators and anti-Rota–Baxter operators on associative algebras are introduced to interpret anti-dendriform algebras. In particular, there are compatible anti-dendriform algebra structures on associative algebras with nondegenerate commutative Connes cocycles. There is an important observation that there are correspondences between certain subclasses of dendriform and anti-dendriform algebras in terms of q -algebras. As a direct consequence, we give the notion of Novikov-type dendriform algebras as an analogue of Novikov algebras for dendriform algebras, whose relationship with Novikov algebras is consistent with the one between dendriform and pre-Lie algebras. Finally, we extend to provide a general framework of introducing the notions of analogues of anti-dendriform algebras, which interprets a new splitting of operations.

Abstract:We introduce "synchronous algebras", an algebraic structure tailored to recognize automatic relations (aka. synchronous relations, or regular relations). They are the equivalent of monoids for regular languages, however they conceptually differ in two points: first, they are typed and second, they are equipped with a dependency relation expressing constraints between elements of different types. The interest of the proposed definition is that it allows to lift, in an effective way, pseudovarieties of regular languages to that of synchronous relations, and we show how algebraic characterizations of pseudovarieties of regular languages can be lifted to the pseudovarieties of synchronous relations that they induce. A typical example of such a pseudovariety is the class of "group relations", defined as the relations recognized by finite-state synchronous permutation automata. In order to prove this result, we adapt two pillars of algebraic language to synchronous algebras: (a) any relation admits a syntactic synchronous algebra recognizing it, and moreover, the relation is synchronous if, and only if, its syntactic algebra is finite and (b) classes of synchronous relations with desirable closure properties (i.e. pseudovarieties) correspond to pseudovarieties of synchronous algebras.

Abstract:The theory of direct decomposition of a centrally orthocomplete effect algebra into direct summands of various types utilizes the notion of a type-determining (TD) set. A pseudo-effect algebra (PEA) is a (possibly) noncommutative version of an effect algebra. In this article we develop the basic theory of centrally orthocomplete PEAs, generalize the notion of a TD set to PEAs, and show that TD sets induce decompositions of centrally orthocomplete PEAs into direct summands.

Abstract:If $\Delta$ and $\Gamma$ are two derivations of a commutative algebra $A$ such that $\Delta\Gamma-\Gamma\Delta=\Delta$ is locally nilpotent, one can endow $A$ with a new product $\ast$ whose filtered semiclassical limit is the Poisson structure $\Delta\wedge\Gamma$.In this article we first study theses (Poisson) algebras from an algebraic point of view, and when $A$ is a polynomial algebra, we investigate their homological properties. In particular, when the derivations $\Delta$ and $\Gamma$ are linear, the algebras $(A,\ast)$ provide, in each dimension at least four, new examples of multiparameter families of Artin-Schelter regular algebras. These algebras are deformations of Poisson algebras $(A,\Delta\wedge\Gamma)$ of rank $2$, thus explaining the title of the article.Assuming furthermore a technical condition on $\Gamma$, we show that the algebra $(A,\ast)$ is Calabi-Yau if and only if the trace of $\Gamma$ is equal to $1$ if and only if the Poisson algebra $(A,\Delta\wedge\Gamma)$ is unimodular.Since the trace of $\Gamma$ is a linear function of the parameters, the algebras $(A,\ast)$ also provide, in each dimension at least four, new examples of multiparameter families of Calabi-Yau algebras.

Abstract:The class of algebras of Jordan type $\eta$ was introduced by Hall, Rehren and Shpectorov in 2015 within the much broader class of axial algebras. Algebras of Jordan type are commutative algebras $A$ over a field of characteristic not $2$, generated by primitive idempotents, called axes, whose adjoint action on $A$ has minimal polynomial dividing $(x-1)x(x-\eta)$ and where multiplication of eigenvectors follows the rules similar to the Peirce decomposition in Jordan algebras.

Abstract:We study the concept of extended derivations of algebras which expands diverse definitions of generalized derivations given in the literature. We concentrate on the family of the anti-commutative algebras and classify such spaces of derivations by considering a suitable notion of equivalence when we restrict attention to sucssh algebras. Afterwards, we investigate a link between the well-known (α,β,γ) -derivations and some new extended derivations obtained in our classification. Finally, we present applications of extended derivations to study degenerations of algebras.

Abstract:For a map $\varphi\!:U(\mathfrak{g})\rightarrow A$ of associative algebras, $U(\mathfrak{g})$ the universal enveloping algebra of a (complex) finite-dimensional reductive Lie algebra, the representation theory of $A$ is intimately tied to the representation theory of the $A$-subquotient known as the reduction algebra for $(A,\mathfrak{g}, \varphi)$. Herlemont and Ogievetsky studied differential reduction algebras for the general linear Lie algebra $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ as the algebra of $h$-deformed differential operators formed from realizations of $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ in the $N$-fold tensor product of the $n $th Weyl algebra. In this paper, we further the study of differential reduction algebras by presenting the symplectic differential reduction algebra $D\big(\mathfrak{sp}(4)\big)$, by generators and relations, and showing its connections to Bavula's generalized Weyl algebras (GWAs). In doing so, we determine a new class of GWAs we call $\textit{skew-affine}$ GWAs, of which $D\big(\mathfrak{gl}(2)\big)$ and $D\big(\mathfrak{sp}(4)\big)$ are examples. We conjecture that the differential reduction algebra of the orthosymplectic Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2n)$ is a twisted generalized Weyl algebra (TGWA) and that the relations for $D\big(\mathfrak{sp}(2n)\big)$ yield solutions to the dynamical Yang-Baxter equation (DYBE).

Abstract:Compositional models were introduce by Jirousek and Shenoy in the general framework of valuation-based systems. They based their theory on an axiomatic system of valuations involving not only the operations of combination and marginalisation, but also of removal. They claimed that this systems covers besides the classical case of discrete probability distributions, also the cases of Gaussian densities and belief functions, and many other systems. Whereas their results on the compositional operator are correct, the axiomatic basis is not sufficient to cover the examples claimed above. We propose here a different axiomatic system of valuation algebras, which permits a rigorous mathematical theory of compositional operators in valuation-based systems and covers all the examples mentioned above. It extends the classical theory of inverses in semigroup theory and places thereby the present theory into its proper mathematical frame. Also this theory sheds light on the different structures of valuation-based systems, like regular algebras (represented by probability potentials), canncellative algebras (Gaussian potentials) and general separative algebras (density functions).

On the structure of W-algebras in type A

Abstract:We formulate and prove examples of a conjecture which describes the W-algebras in type A as successive quantum Hamiltonian reductions of affine vertex algebras associated with several hook-type nilpotent orbits. This implies that the affine coset subalgebras of hook-type W-algebras are building blocks of the W-algebras in type A. In the rational case, it turns out that the building blocks for the simple quotients are provided by the minimal series of the regular W-algebras. In contrast, they are provided by singlet-type extensions of W-algebras at collapsing levels which are irrational. In the latter case, several new sporadic isomorphisms between different W-algebras are established.

Abstract:Recently, we have shown that von Neumann algebras form a model for Selinger and Valiron's quantum lambda calculus. In this paper, we explain our choice of interpretation of the duplicability operator "!" by studying those von Neumann algebras that might have served as the interpretation of duplicable types, namely those that carry a (commutative) monoid structure with respect to the spatial tensor product. We show that every such monoid is the (possibly infinite) direct product of the complex numbers, and that our interpretation of the ! operator of the quantum lambda calculus is exactly the free (commutative) monoid.

Abstract:In this paper, we show that the multiplicative derivations on J(α) -axial algebras, with α≠1,0,12 , are additive under suitable conditions, which nowadays are called Martindale-type conditions. Besides, with proper assumptions, we proceed to study the additivity of multiplicative isomorphisms and derivations in the context of M(α,β) -axial algebras, except for multiplicative derivations when β=12 . In this case, we mention a research question at the end.

Transposed Poisson superalgebra

Abstract:In this paper we propose the notion of a transposed Poisson superalgebra. We prove that a transposed Poisson superalgebra can be constructed by means of a commutative associative superalgebra and an even degree derivation of this algebra. Making use of this we construct two examples of transposed Poisson superalgebra. One of them is the graded differential algebra of differential forms on a smooth finite dimensional manifold, where we use the Lie derivative as an even degree derivation. The second example is the commutative superalgebra of basic fields of the quantum Yang-Mills theory, where we use the BRST-supersymmetry as an even degree derivation to define a graded Lie bracket. We show that a transposed Poisson superalgebra has six identities that play an important role in the study of the structure of this algebra.

Abstract:Abstract We explicitly identify the algebra generated by symplectic Fourier–Deligne transforms (i.e., convolution with Kazhdan–Laumon sheaves) acting on the Grothendieck group of perverse sheaves on the basic affine space $G/U$, answering a question originally raised by A. Polishchuk. We show it is isomorphic to a distinguished subalgebra, studied by I. Marin, of the generalized algebra of braids and ties (defined in Type $A$ by F. Aicardi and J. Juyumaya and generalized to all types by Marin), providing a connection between geometric representation theory and an algebra defined in the context of knot theory. Our geometric interpretation of this algebra entails some algebraic consequences: we obtain a short and type-independent geometric proof of the braid relations for Juyumaya’s generators of the Yokonuma–Hecke algebra (previously proved case-by-case in types $A, D, E$ by Juyumaya and separately for types $B, C, F_{4}, G_{2}$ by Juyumaya and S. S. Kannan), a natural candidate for an analogue of a Kazhdan–Lusztig basis, and finally an explicit formula for the dimension of Marin’s algebra in Type $A_{n}$ (previously only known for $n \leq 4$).

Abstract:We give complete presentations for the dagger-compact props of affine Lagrangian and coisotropic relations over an arbitrary field. This provides a unified family of graphical languages for both affinely constrained classical mechanical systems, as well as odd-prime-dimensional stabiliser quantum circuits. To this end, we present affine Lagrangian relations by a particular class of undirected coloured graphs. In order to reason about composite systems, we introduce a powerful scalable notation where the vertices of these graphs are themselves coloured by graphs. In the setting of stabiliser quantum mechanics, this scalable notation gives an extremely concise description of graph states, which can be composed via ``phased spider fusion.'' Likewise, in the classical mechanical setting of electrical circuits, we show that impedance matrices for reciprocal networks are presented in essentially the same way.

Abstract:Moving from the mathematical theory of (abstract) syntax, we develop a general relational theory of symbolic manipulation parametric with respect to, and accounting for, general notions of syntax. We model syntax relying on categorical notions, such as free algebras and monads, and show that a general theory of symbolic manipulation in the style of rewriting systems can be obtained by extending such notions to an allegorical setting. This way, we obtain an augmented calculus of relations accounting for syntax-based rewriting. We witness the effectiveness of the relational approach by generalising and unifying milestones results in rewriting, such as the parallel moves and the Tait-Martin-Löf techniques.
