Abstract:BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Assessing patient satisfaction with orthosis (PSwO) is a key point for clinical practice to increase a patient's adherence to therapeutic programs and reduce orthotic-related costs. The Client Satisfaction with Device (CSD) module of the Orthotics and Prosthetics Users' Survey (OPUS) is one of the most widely-used questionnaires for assessing PSwO, but its validated version in the Arabic language is lacking. The objective of this study is to generate and psychometrically validate an Arabic version of the CSD (CSD-Ar).DESIGN AND SETTINGS: This is a cross-sectional study, conducted during February to June 2013 at 2 inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation departments in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.PATIENTS AND METHODS: Translation of CSD-Ar was carried out according to the guideline recommendations of Linacre. A convenience sample of 100 orthotic-user patients with various conditions (59% men, mean age 36 years) completed the CSD-Ar. Data were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis followed by Rasch analysis.RESULTS: Factor analysis confirmed the unidimensionality of the CSD-Ar. Rasch criteria for the functioning of rating scale categories were fulfilled. All items showed an adequate fit to the Rasch model. The person separation reliability was .75 and Cronbach alpha .83. There was a borderline local dependency between items 1 ("My device fits well") and 3 ("My device is comfortable throughout the day").CONCLUSION: The internal construct validity of the CSD-Ar in Arab patients with various types of orthotics has been confirmed. This study provides a useful starting point for the use of this outcome measure in Arabic-speaking countries.

Validation of the Arabic version of the Orthognathic Quality of Life Questionnaire

Abstract:The Orthognathic Quality of Life Questionnaire (OQLQ) was developed just over twenty years ago to measure quality of life (QoL) changes in patients with dentofacial deformities undergoing orthognathic surgery. However, despite being used in several studies conducted in Arabic-speaking nations of the Middle East and North Africa region, there has yet to be a formal psychometric evaluation of an Arabic OQLQ. The aim of this study was to develop and assess the reliability, validity, and responsiveness of an Arabic version of the OQLQ in a cohort of Saudi Arabian patients with malocclusions and dentofacial deformities. The translation of the OQLQ used an established method for adapting health questionnaires, where the questionnaire underwent translation and back-translation by bilinguals with subsequent consultation with professionals. Cronbach’s α coefficient for internal consistency was 0.92, denoting “excellent” internal consistency, and test-retest reliability was good to excellent. Overall OQOL scores were weakly but positively correlated with satisfaction with surgical treatment and were significantly lower after surgery than before surgery. The Arabic version of the OQLQ is conceptually similar to the English version, comprehensible, reliable, valid, and responsive. Future studies should now use this standardized version to ensure reliability of the results and allow comparisons between studies.

Abstract:Abstract Background Oral health belief is a prerequisite of changing oral health behaviors especially during adolescence. However, there is a paucity of well-established questionnaire for use among adolescents. This study aimed to develop and validate an instrument to evaluate adolescents’ beliefs about oral health behaviors using health belief model. Methods A preliminary 43-item questionnaire was developed by an expert panel. Then the questionnaire was finalized by decreasing the number of items to 35 by analyzing the results from face validity and factor analysis from 421 Hong Kong secondary school students. The content validity were evaluated by a panel of 2 behavioral scientists, 2 dentists, 2 schoolteachers and 10 adolescents. The construct validity of the questionnaire was assessed by performing exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, item-total correlation and intraclass coefficient were used to test its reliability. In addition, to confirm its applicability, multiple regression analysis and path analysis were used to evaluate the possibility of HBM as predictors for oral health behaviors and oral hygiene status. Results The initial analysis extracted six factors that jointly accounted for 62.47% of the variance observed. Based on CFA, the final version of the questionnaire consisted of 35 items and the data of the final version fitted the model well. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for the subscale (> 0.7), item-total correlations (0.47–0.91) and the intraclass coefficient (0.82–0.91) were all above acceptable thresholds. The results of multiple regression analysis and path analysis confirmed its ability to predict oral health behaviors and status. Conclusions The present findings indicate satisfactory validity, reliability and applicability of the proposed Oral Health Behavior Questionnaire for Adolescents based on the Health Belief Model (OHBQAHBM) for measuring oral health beliefs of adolescents. This questionnaire can be used as an instrument to measure oral health beliefs and predict oral health behavior and oral hygiene status of adolescents.

Abstract:Objective: The Health Action Process Approach (HAPA) describes social cognitive constructs related to behaviour change. A validated questionnaire is needed to measure these constructs in paediatric dentistry. The aim of this study was to improve an existing HAPA-based questionnaire for parents regarding brushing their children's teeth and to assess its validity and reliability in a population of parents of high caries risk children. Methods: Parents of high caries risk children of 3-10 years filled out the adjusted HAPA-based questionnaire. Mokken scale analysis, graded response model analyses, factor analyses and reliability analyses were performed according to the protocol of Dima. Discriminant validity was assessed by comparing the mean scores of the HAPA constructs between two groups of participants, based on different levels of caries experience, brushing frequency and education level of the mother. Results: The Mokken scale analysis and factor analyses indicated a multidimensional eight factor scale. The graded response model did not fit our data. The subscale action control could be identified as a two-factor subscale. Reliability indices from the Dima protocol varied, for instance Cronbach alpha ranged from 0.73 to 0.96. The constructs coping self-efficacy, action planning and action control discriminated between brushing frequencies. Conclusions: The adjusted HAPA-based questionnaire is an improved, valid and reliable instrument that could be used to evaluate HAPA-based interventions to improve children's oral health.

Abstract:Background and objectives: Automated drug dispensing systems (ADDs) have been introduced to improve the efficiency of dispensing and patient safety. The available questionnaires measure patient satisfaction with particular aspects of ADDs. Also, the level of patient satisfaction with ADDs is not widely established. This study aimed to develop and validate a novel questionnaire to assess patient satisfaction with ADDs. Methods: Content and construct validity procedures were used to validate the 20-item questionnaire with four domains, including pharmacy administration, dispensing practice, patient education, and the dispensing system. Two hundred consenting participants took part in this study, from those who visited the outpatient pharmacy in a government hospital. Results: The internal consistency of all four scale items shows acceptable reliability (>0.7). In the exploratory factor analysis, three items were removed due to poor factor loading and cross-loading. In the confirmatory factor analysis, the model has acceptable fit indices, including the comparative fit index (0.937), Tucker-Lewis's index (0.924), standardized root mean square residual (0.051), root mean square error of approximation (0.057), and χ2/df (1.67). The convergent and discriminant validity were established, since the average variance extracted (AVE) was ≥0.5 and the squared correlation (SC) values of one construct with other constructs were less than the AVE of the specific construct. Conclusion: This study offered a reliable and valid 17-item questionnaire incorporating a multi-dimensional four-factor model to evaluate patient satisfaction with ADDs. The validated questionnaire can be utilized to explore patients' perspectives on ADDs.

Abstract:Purpose: This study aimed to translate and test the content validity and reliability of an English questionnaire used in the American food and health survey. Methods: The questionnaire was developed using 6 stages, then examined for test–retest. A total of 672 participants were recruited for validation and reliability. Validity test was performed using a correlation coefficient to measure the linear correlation between 2 questions at one given time. Moreover, the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin, Measure of Sampling Adequacy, and Bartlett’s Test of Sphericity were performed to statistically determine the suitability for conducting exploratory factor analysis. Furthermore, reliability tests using Cronbach α was used to estimate the reliability coefficient properties of the translated scale. Finally, the most important correlated questions was plotted using a color-coded correlogram. Results: The test–retest reliability of all tested items was significantly correlated. The reliability test for all questions was 0.9. The cross-correlation test showed that all questions of the translated questionnaire were correlated significantly ( P < .05) indicating reliability of the questionnaire. Conclusion: The tested questionnaire is applicable and may be used in population-based studies to raise awareness regarding health, food consumption, nutrition, and food safety among people in Jordan and/or other Arab countries.

Psychometric properties of the Arabic version of the perceived prosthodontic treatment need scale: Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses

Abstract:It is crucial to take into account the concerns of dental patients about their prosthodontic needs when planning the course of treatment. However, there is a dearth of research that examines these needs among adult dental patients. This study aims to translate and validate the perceived prosthodontic treatment need scale (PPTN) in Arabic. The 17-item PPTN scale was translated from English into Arabic and completed by 206 patients seeking prosthodontic treatment in a dental hospital in Saudi Arabia. Data collection was carried out in September and October 2023. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was used to ascertain the underlying factor structure; a unidimensional scale was hypothesised and tested using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), including several multiple model fit indices. The assessment of reliability was conducted using Cronbach's alpha. The convergent and discriminant validity of the final scale were examined. EFA produced an 11-item scale distributed into three factors that explain 65.43% of the total variance with eigenvalues > 1. All items showed acceptable reliability, ranging from 0.65 to 0.84. The first factor pertained to social issues, while the second item was concerning dental appearance. Lastly, the third factor included functional difficulties associated with tooth loss or dental problems. The results of the CFA demonstrate a satisfactory level of model fit, with the standardised factor loadings ranging from 0.51 to 0.89. Convergent and discriminant validity of the model factors were established. The translated questionnaire was deemed legitimate and would be useful in comprehending patients' perceived treatment requirements, hence contributing to the advancement of prosthodontic research and practical implementation.

Development and initial validation of an oral health-related quality of life scale for older adolescents

Abstract:Background: Oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) perception is age-dependent and therefore different for children, adolescents, and adults. Adolescents are a critical age group with specific oral health needs. Oral health needs assessment is not complete without the estimation of OHRQoL. Objective: To develop and validate an OHRQoL scale for older adolescents considering their functional, social, emotional, academic, and economic situation. Methods: All steps in psychometric tool development including face, content, and translational validity, pretesting, piloting, and factor analysis were followed. Construct validity was further tested using a cross-sectional study on 400 senior secondary students. Sociodemographic data, Decayed Missing Filled Teeth, Dental Aesthetic Index, and Community Periodontal Index were used to test construct validity. Results: A 20-item tool with five domains (intraclass correlation of 0.857, Cronbach's alpha of 0.811, variance of 64.25%) was developed. Convergent validity was established with a single-item global question and discriminant validity with clinical indices. In the multivariate logistic regression model, malocclusion emerged as the most significant predictor for poor OHRQoL adjusting for socioeconomic status, dental caries, gingival bleeding, and last dental visit. Dental caries and last dental visit also significantly predicted poor OHRQoL in the adjusted regression model. Conclusion: The new tool has sound psychometric properties, is relatively short, culturally equivalent, age-specific, and can assess both positive and negative aspects of adolescent oral health. Further testing in longitudinal studies is required to determine its usefulness as an outcome measure.

Abstract:The study objective was to construct and validate a tool to assess, measure, and evaluate the barriers and obstacles that patients with orofacial clefts (OFCs), and their families, face during treatment. The Effective Accessibility and Accommodation subscale, based on the translated Primary Care Assessment Survey and Primary Care Assessment Tool scales, was used as a reference for the questionnaire. A total of 165 parents from three main cleft referral centers in Saudi Arabia were interviewed. Questionnaire content validity was conducted by calculation of a content validity index for each item (I-CVI) as well as for the total scale (S-CVI). Reliability was tested using Cronbach’s alpha. Factor analysis and principal components analysis were performed to determine the factor structure of the instrument. The final questionnaire had nine items. Rating results showed both I-CVI and S-CVI scores of 1 and Cronbach’s alpha was 0.86. There were three factors (geographic accessibility, appointment availability and accessibility, and scheduling-related barriers) with eigenvalues above 1.00, which collectively accounted for 73% of the variance. In conclusion, this tool is valid and reliable to evaluate accessibility and barriers to care of patients with OFCs in Saudi Arabia.

Abstract:BackgroundThis paper describes the cross-cultural adaptation of the Psychosocial Impact of Dental Aesthetics Questionnaire (PIDAQ) into Malay version (Malay PIDAQ), an oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) instrument specific for orthodontics for Malaysian adolescents between 12 and 17 years old.MethodsThe PIDAQ was cross-culturally adapted into Malay version by forward- and backward-translation processes, followed by psychometric validations. After initial investigation of the conceptual suitability of the measure for the Malaysian population, the PIDAQ was translated into Malay, pilot tested and back translated into English. Psychometric properties were examined across two age groups (319 subjects aged 12–14 and 217 subjects aged 15–17 years old) for factor structure, internal consistency, reproducibility, discriminant and construct validity, criterion validity, and assessment of floor and ceiling effects.ResultsFit indices by confirmatory factor analysis showed good fit statistics (comparative fit index = 0.936, root-mean-square error of approximation = 0.064) and invariance across age groups. Internal consistency and reproducibility tests were satisfactory (Cronbach’s α = 0.71-0.91; intra-class correlations = 0.72-0.89). Significant differences in Malay PIDAQ mean scores were observed between subjects with severe malocclusion and those with slight malocclusion based on a self-rated and an investigator-rated malocclusion index, for all subscales and all age groups (p < 0.05). Construct validity of the Malay PIDAQ subscales with those who rated themselves with excellent to poor dental appearance and those who felt they needed or did not need braces, showed significant associations for all age groups (p < 0.05). Criterion validity also showed significant association between the Malay PIDAQ scores with those with and without impact on daily activities attributed to malocclusion. There were no ceiling effects detected but floor effects were detected for the Aesthetic Concern subscale.ConclusionThe study has provided initial evidence for the validity and reliability of the Malay PIDAQ to assess the impact of malocclusion on the OHRQoL of 12–17 year old Malaysian adolescents.

Translational and linguistic validation of the Arabic version of dysfunctional voiding symptom score questionnaire

Abstract:Introduction: Dysfunctional voiding is a multifactorial condition that encompasses a wide variety of symptoms rendering its diagnosis a challenging process. In this setting, several tools have been proposed to aid the diagnosis of this disease among which is the Dysfunctional Voiding Symptom Score (DVSS). The DVSS has been translated and validated to different languages including Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Serbian, and Portuguese. The aim of the current study is to translate and cross-culturally validate the DVSS into the Arabic language. Material and methods: The DVSS was translated and culturally adapted to the Arabic language following the standards of the ISPOR for the translation and cultural adaptation process for patient-reported outcomes measures. Subsequently, the translated version underwent a pre-test on 15 patients with dysfunctional voiding. Afterwards, the translated version was filled by 82 pediatric patients and/or their parents with dysfunctional voiding and then the same questionnaire was refilled by the patients and their families one week later at home. Finally, a group of healthy children and/or their parents were recruited to fill the questionnaire as a control group. Cronbach's alpha, Pearson's correlation, and Interclass correlation were used to assess for internal consistency and reliability between test-retest of the Arabic version. Results: The mean total score of DVSS for the case and control groups was 16.66 ± 6.07 and 6.11 ± 3.36, respectively (P < 0.001). The Arabic-DVSS showed excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's α > 0.9) for all the questions except Q1, Q3, Q6, and Q7 that showed good internal consistency. Discussion: Translational and linguistic validation of the DVSS questionnaire into Arabic language is an important step toward its introduction in the clinical practice in Arabic countries; however, this step has also to consider the cultural variations between countries and not just linguistic translation. Generally, the Arabic-DVSS showed a satisfactory test-retest internal consistency and reliability with an excellent Cronbach's α (0.982) and ICC (0.962) for the total score of the Arabic-DVSS. Yet, the main limitation of this study was that it was only advocated for the translation and validation of the Arabic-DVSS and did not assess its value in patients' follow-up. Conclusion: The Arabic version of the DVSS is reliable and valid to help in the evaluation of DV in children of Arabic countries.
Development, test-retest reliability and validity of the Pharmacy Value-Added Services Questionnaire (PVASQ)

Abstract:Objective: (i) To develop the Pharmacy Value-Added Services Questionnaire (PVASQ) using emerging themes generated from interviews. (ii) To establish reliability and validity of questionnaire instrument. Methods: Using an extended Theory of Planned Behavior as the theoretical model, face-to-face interviews generated salient beliefs of pharmacy value-added services. The PVASQ was constructed initially in English incorporating important themes and later translated into the Malay language with forward and backward translation. Intention (INT) to adopt pharmacy value-added services is predicted by attitudes (ATT), subjective norms (SN), perceived behavioral control (PBC), knowledge and expectations. Using a 7-point Likert-type scale and a dichotomous scale, test-retest reliability (N=25) was assessed by administrating the questionnaire instrument twice at an interval of one week apart. Internal consistency was measured by Cronbach's alpha and construct validity between two administrations was assessed using the kappa statistic and the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Confirmatory Factor Analysis, CFA (N=410) was conducted to assess construct validity of the PVASQ. Results: The kappa coefficients indicate a moderate to almost perfect strength of agreement between test and retest. The ICC for all scales tested for intra-rater (test-retest) reliability was good. The overall Cronbach' s alpha (N=25) is 0.912 and 0.908 for the two time points. The result of CFA (N=410) showed most items loaded strongly and correctly into corresponding factors. Only one item was eliminated. Conclusions: This study is the first to develop and establish the reliability and validity of the Pharmacy Value-Added Services Questionnaire instrument using the Theory of Planned Behavior as the theoretical model. The translated Malay language version of PVASQ is reliable and valid to predict Malaysian patients' intention to adopt pharmacy value-added services to collect partial medicine supply.

Abstract:Background: An excellent validated and reliable instrument is paramount in holistically evaluating the prosthetic and orthotic (P&O) service, encompassing functional outcomes, health-related quality of life (HRQoL), and patient satisfaction with devices and service. Objective: To perform a translation and cross-cultural adaptation of 3 modules of the Orthotics and Prosthetics Users' Survey (OPUS): (1) lower-extremity functional status (LEFS), (2) client satisfaction with device and services (CSDS), and (3) HRQoL in Malay language, and analyze its psychometric properties. Study design: Translation and validation study. Methods: This translation process consisted of 4 phases: (1) a forward-backward translation, (2) content and face validity by utilizing content and face validity indices, (3) pilot testing and psychometric analysis using exploratory factor analysis, and (4) test-retest reliability. Results: One item from OPUS Health Quality of Life Index-Malay pilot version, 5 items from OPUS LEFS-Malay pilot version, and 4 items of OPUS Satisfaction with Device and Services-Malay pilot version were deleted because of poor factor loading of <0.6. The final version of Modified OPUS HRQoL-M, Modified OPUS LEFS-M, and Modified OPUS CSDS-M consisted of 22 items, 15 items, and 17 items, respectively. The final versions of all 3 Modified OPUS Malay version possess good internal consistency of 0.854, 0.927, and 0.98, and intraclass correlation of 0.773, 0.871, and 0.821, respectively . Conclusion: Modified OPUS HRQoL-M, Modified OPUS LEFS-M, and Modified OPUS CSDS-M are valid and reliable instruments to be adopted into the local Malaysia population.

Abstract:Purpose: This study aimed to provide Arabic-speaking individuals with tools to assess their cognitive abilities and physical function and to contribute to a better understanding of these capabilities in this population. Thus, the specific objective was to translate into Arabic and culturally adapt two Patient-Reported Outcome Measurement Information System (PROMIS) item banks: the Adult Cognitive Function Abilities and the Physical Function for Samples with Mobility Aid Users item banks. This study employed the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy (FACIT) multilingual translation methodology to ensure cultural and linguistic relevance. The translation process included forward and back translations, expert reviews, and finalisation by a language coordinator. Cognitive debriefing interviews were conducted with 30 native healthy Arabic speakers to assess the clarity and comprehension of translated items. Most items were well understood, but two items related to cognitive ability and four related to physical functions required revision to address participant confusion. The translations were refined based on the participants' feedback and expert recommendations. This study followed a rigorous translation process and included cognitive debriefing interviews to ensure linguistic and cultural equivalence. The availability of these tools in Arabic enhances cross-cultural research and practice in healthcare and contributes to a global understanding of cognitive and physical functions.

Abstract:INTRODUCTION: measuring quality of life requires an instrument validated in the population language. The purpose of our study was to translate and analyze the psychometric properties of the literary Arabic version of the "diabetes health profile (DHP)-18".METHODS: we conducted a methodological study for psychometric evaluation and validation of the DHP-18, following the steps of the cross-cultural validation described by Vallerand. A convenience sample of people with diabetes was collected for this purpose. The developed questionnaire included participants' demographic characteristics, diabetes data and the experimental version of the DHP-18 questionnaire. Validity, reliability and questionnaire standards establishment were carried out.RESULTS: a sample of 333 diabetics was recruited. Test-retest correlation coefficient (r = 0.985; p<0.01) and Cronbach's alpha coefficient (alpha = 0.840) showed that the experimental version was accurate in terms of temporal stability and internal consistency. The content validity index was 0.84 and showed that the questionnaire statements accurately measured the concepts under study. The exploratory principal axis factoring, using the orthogonal varimax rotation, allowed the extraction of a factorial solution with four independent factors, grouping the 18 items of the questionnaire. Correlation coefficients between the three corresponding dimensions of the theoretical model of the questionnaire were low and positive, between 0.431 and 0.535, confirming that each dimension measured a unique content.CONCLUSION: the literary Arabic version of the DHP-18 has proven to be valid, reliable and ready for use in clinical practice in Tunisian people with diabetes.

Abstract:Background and aim Oral health is an integral part of overall general health. Understanding the variables that affect the use of dental services can help overcome the challenges and lessen disparities in oral health. There are no significant reliable questionnaires available for determining factors that influence dental care utilization. This study aimed to develop and validate a questionnaire based on the Andersen model of healthcare utilization to assess these factors. Materials and methods A preliminary questionnaire consisting of 34 items was developed based on the Andersen model of healthcare utilization. The questionnaire's final version consisted of 24 items after five subject area experts analyzed its face validity and content validity. Content validity ratio (CVR) was used to evaluate the validity of the questionnaire. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was then used to establish the internal consistency and test-retest for the reliability of the questionnaire. Results The final version of the questionnaire included 24 items based on CVR, and the data of the final version suited the model well. The internal consistency measured with Cronbach's alpha coefficient was above the threshold for each item. The Cronbach's alpha value for test-retest reliability was found to be 0.72, which was acceptable. Conclusions The current results show that the proposed questionnaire for dental utilization based on the Andersen model has satisfactory validity and reliability. This questionnaire can be used as an instrument to determine the various factors that affect the utilization of dental services.

Abstract:Introduction: Social and cultural changes are altering young people's habits. Some surveys measure such behaviors, but are hard to interpret. The objective of this study was to design and validate a homogeneous questionnaire to study habits among adolescents aged 12-14 years. Population and methods: Descriptive and crosssectional study to validate a questionnaire. Items were selected after a bibliographic review and expert assessment. The pre-test was administered to a pilot sample. Reliability was established using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and construct validity, using a factor analysis. It was administered to a sample of parents of students from 4 secondary schools. Results: Cronbach's coefficient showed values close to 0.7 in 3/4 subscales and an overall value of 0.629, showing accuracy and stability. Factor analysis determined an adequate construct validity, with 4 factors: eating, physical activity, new technologies, and environment. The final questionnaire included 26 items and was administered to 421 participants. Poor habits were observed in 24.8 % and very unhealthy, in 3.4 %. Girls had poorer scores in physical activity (p < 0.001), and boys, in new technologies, although it was not significant. Conclusions: The final instrument was valid, reliable, and easily administered to assess modifiable behaviors in adolescents. The inclusion of technologies and environment helps to adapt the questionnaire to current changes. The greatest deficit was observed in the technology use and physical activity domains; and girls were more sedentary.

Abstract:Objectives: Improving the oral health of the elderly is crucial to improving their general health and quality of life. To reach this goal, it is necessary to start with a comprehensive oral health assessment and a detailed treatment plan. The aim of this study was, therefore, to develop a comprehensive Oral Health Assessment Tool for the geriatric population. Material and methods: Following a panel of experts' consultation, a clinical form and a self-assessment questionnaire were developed, encompassing eight domains: dental caries, periodontal diseases, partial and complete edentulism, oral soft tissue lesions, occlusion, xerostomia, temporomandibular joints, and oral or oral prostheses hygiene. Subsequently, a pilot study was conducted to appraise the clinical form and questionnaire involving 84 residents of an Iranian nursing home. After securing ethics approval, both the qualitative and quantitative aspects of the self-assessment questions' validity and reliability were assessed, and specificity and sensitivity were calculated. Results: The mean age of the participants was 69.8 (±4.1) years, and 86% had less than 12 years of education. The questions regarding the number of remaining teeth and the number of decayed teeth had the highest sensitivity (97% and 88%), respectively. Questions regarding the presence of periodontitis and gingivitis had the highest specificity (both 100%). Conclusions: A Comprehensive Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Tool has been developed and its validity and reliability evaluated in a pilot study. It should now be further evaluated in larger studies.
