Abstract:The importance of security in database research has greatly increased over the years as most of critical functionality of the business and military enterprises became digitized. Database is an integral part of any information system and they often hold sensitive data. The security of the data depends on physical security, OS security and DBMS security. Database security can be compromised by obtaining sensitive data, changing data or degrading availability of the database. Over the last 30 years the information technology environment have gone through many changes of evolution and the database research community have tried to stay a step ahead of the upcoming threats to the database security. The database research community has thoughts about these issues long before they were address by the implementations. This paper will examine the different topics pertaining to database security and see the adaption of the research to the changing environment. Some short term database research trends will be ascertained at the conclusion.

Abstract:Today, large amounts of data are being continuously produced, collected, and exchanged between systems. As the number of devices, systems and data produced grows up, the risk of security breaches increases. This is all the more relevant in times of COVID-19, which has affected not only the health and lives of human beings' but also the lifestyle of society, i.e., the digital environment has replaced the physical. This has led to an increase in cyber security threats of various nature. While security breaches and different security protection mechanisms have been widely covered in the literature, the concept of a primitive artifact such as data management system seems to have been more neglected by researchers and practitioners. But are data management systems always protected by default? Previous research and regular updates on data leakages suggest that the number and nature of these vulnerabilities are high. It also refers to little or no DBMS protection, especially in case of NoSQL, which are thus vulnerable to attacks. The aim of this paper is to examine whether traditional vulnerability registries provide a sufficiently comprehensive view of DBMS security, or they should be intensively and dynamically inspected by DBMS owners by referring to Internet of Things Search Engines moving towards a sustainable and resilient digitized environment. The paper brings attention to this problem and makes the reader think about data security before looking for and introducing more advanced security and protection mechanisms, which, in the absence of the above, may bring no value.

Abstract:Recently, Google revealed that it has replaced the 10-year old MapReduce with its new systems (e.g., DataFlow) which can provide better performances and support more sophisticated applications. Simultaneously, other new systems, such as Spark, Impala and epiC, are also being developed to handle new requirements for big data processing. The fact shows that since their emergence, big data techniques are changing very fast. In this paper, we use our experience in developing and maintaining the information security system for Netease as an example to illustrate how those big data systems evolve. In particular, our first version is a Hadoop-based offline detection system, which is soon replaced by a more flexible online streaming system. Our ongoing work is to build a generic real-time analytic system for Netease to handle various jobs such as email spam detection, user pattern mining, game log analysis, etc. The example shows how the requirements of users (e.g., Netease and its clients) affect the design of big data system and drive the advance of technologies. Based on our experience, we also propose some key design factors and challenges for future big data systems.

Abstract:Big data has grown in importance in a variety of corporate and academic fields as a result of substantial changes in human behavior and lifestyles. While this focus simplifies data management, big data is regarded as important in many industrial areas because it can be merged with other types of data. Big data can be managed alongside other types of data, particularly in large organizations that handle a range of data types. This type of management contributes to the improvement and development of the organizational structure, as well as raising the skill level of employees in these organizations. Despite these benefits, there are numerous concerns, particularly throughout the stages of data gathering and storage, when there is a risk of hacking or leakage, as well as the difficulty of sorting and identifying data. For these reasons, big data protection is regarded as one of the most important issues discussed in this paper in order to develop an appropriate framework for protecting big data related to companies, as well as methods for dealing with this data in order to develop an appropriate strategy to protect big data security and privacy.

Abstract:This paper innovatively proposes a database access information security management method under the big data platform. This paper first designs and implements a network information security management system based on B/S architecture. The system consists of a safety management platform management center, a WEB console, an agency center and a processing center. At the same time, the system covers a total of five sub-modules including security monitoring management, security policy management, event analysis and processing, security incident response and system management. Secondly, this paper constructs an attribute-based multi-authorization encryption system, which reduces the number of matching operations and improves the efficiency of password utilization. Then, this paper builds a user hierarchical role key tree in the big data platform user role authentication center, and describes the relationship between the big data platform user role and the encryption key of extremely sensitive information. Finally, simulation experiments are carried out in this paper. The results show that the establishment of the encryption system enhances the security of web page access information, and realizes the security management of information platform access information under the big data platform.

As a result, database protection seekers encounter difficulties in terms of a fantastic figure selection to maintain their database security. The main goal of this study is to identify the risk and how we can secure databases, encrypt sensitive data, modify system databases, and update database systems, as well as to evaluate some of the methods to handle these problems in security databases. However, because information plays such an important role in any organization, understanding the security risk and preventing it from occurring in any database system require a high level of knowledge. As a result, through this paper, all necessary information for any organization has been explained; in addition, also a new technological tool that plays an essential role in database security was discussed.

Abstract:Big data has become an important topic in science, engineering, medicine, healthcare, finance, business and ultimately society itself. Big data refers to the massive amount of digital information stored or transmitted in computer systems. Approximately, 2.5 quintillion bytes of data are created every day. Almost 90% of data in the world today are created in the last two years alone. In large-scale cloud infrastructures, a diversity of software platforms provides more opportunities to attackers. Abstract:Big Data systems are increasingly having to be longer lasting, enterprise-wide and interoperable with other (legacy or new) systems. Furthermore many organizations operate in an external environment which dictates change at an unforeseeable rate and requires evolution in system requirements. In these cases system development does not have a definitive end point, rather it continues in a mutually constitutive cycle with the organization and its requirements. Also when the period of design is of such duration that the technology may well evolve or when the required technology is not mature at the outset, then the design process becomes considerably more difficult. Not only that but if the system must inter-operate with other systems then the design process becomes considerably more difficult. Ideally in these circumstances the design must also be able to evolve in order to react to changing technologies and requirements and to ensure traceability between the design and the evolving system specification. In other words extended design periods necessitate adaptable design specifications. For interoperability Big Data systems need to be discoverable and to work with information about other systems with which they need to cooperate over time. We have developed software called CRISTAL-ISE that enables dynamic system evolution and interoperability for Big Data systems, it has been commercialised as the Agilium-NG BPM product and is described in this paper.

Abstract:Databases, collections of related data, are as old as the written word. A database can be anything from a homemaker's metal recipe file to a sophisticated data warehouse. Yet today, when we think of a database we invariably think of computerized data and their DBMSs (database management systems). How did we go from organizing our data in a simple metal filing box or cabinet to storing our data in a sophisticated computerized database? How did the computerized database evolve? This paper defines what we mean by a database. It traces the evolution of the database, from its start as a non-computerized set of related data, to the, now standard, computerized RDBMS (relational database management system). Early computerized storage methods are reviewed including both the ISAM (Indexed Sequential Access Method) and VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method) storage methods. Early database models are explored including the network and hierarchical database models. Eventually, the relational, object-relational and object-oriented databases models are discussed. An appendix of diagrams, including hierarchical occurrence tree, network schema, ER (entity relationship) and UML (unified modeling language) diagrams, is included to support the text. This paper concludes with an exploration of current and future trends in DBMS development. It discusses the factors affecting these trends. It delves into the relationship between DBMSs and the increasingly popular object-oriented development methodologies. Finally, it speculates on the future of the DBMS.
