What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper aims to explore the clinical and genetic characteristics and treatment outcomes of Fanconi-Bickel Syndrome (FBS) in Chinese pediatric patients. By retrospectively analyzing data from 11 children with FBS, the study attempts to address the following issues: 1. **Difficulty in Early Diagnosis**: Due to the heterogeneity of initial symptoms of FBS, early diagnosis is very challenging. 2. **Metabolic Abnormalities and Complications**: The study focuses on the metabolic abnormalities (such as hypoglycemia, acidosis, etc.) and complications (such as rickets, nephrocalcinosis, etc.) in FBS patients. 3. **Genotype-Phenotype Relationship**: The study investigates the relationship between different types of SLC2A2 gene variants and clinical manifestations. 4. **Evaluation of Treatment Outcomes**: The effectiveness of conventional treatment regimens (such as uncooked cornstarch, vitamin D supplementation, etc.) for FBS patients is assessed, with particular attention to the effect of recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) in treating short stature. Through these studies, the authors hope to provide more clinical evidence for the early diagnosis, treatment strategies, and genotype-phenotype correlation of FBS.
