Abstract:With the continuous improvement of China's international influence and the gradual development of the world tourism market, more and more foreign tourists are attracted to China's long history and culture to travel to China. The translation of tourism texts as a different background between people, the bridge of cultural exchanges and the medium for enhancing mutual understanding between countries are even more important. Based on the research of Chinese-Russian tourism and external translation, this paper deeply analyzes the translation of tourism texts from strategies, perspectives and specific translation methods, and strives to explore hidden laws and explore countermeasures to improve translation quality, with a view to translation theory research and practice work as much as possible.

Abstract:Given their long histories, tourist attractions in Shaanxi draw many foreign visitors. Signifcant historical and cultural information can be discovered in tourism texts. They serve as vital tools for promoting tourism and are highly effective. Good translations can help inter-national readers comprehend Shaanxi culture. Utilizing the English translation of the text Beautiful Shaanxi, this paper conducts a Sample analysis of proper nouns, cultural-loaded words, and classical Chinese poems. It also explores the English translation techniques of tourism texts, transliteration, annotation, and more. The province translation approach and the supplemental approach can both assist in translating tourism documents more accurately.

Abstract:As an important part of Chinese culture, the translation of Minnan culture into foreign languages is of great significance for people all over the world to understand China’s traditional culture. Taking the Chinese-English translation of Minnan culture as an example, this paper discusses the problems existing in the foreign translation of Minnan culture and the countermeasures. Bassnett’s cultural translation theory provides theoretical guidance for this paper, emphasizing that translation is not only the transformation of language, but also the transmission and exchange of cultural information. This paper first introduces Bassnett’s cultural translation theory, then analyzes the characteristics of Minnan culture and the challenges it faces in foreign translation, and then puts forward various translation methods of Minnan culture, including transliteration with annotations, literal translation with annotations, free translation with annotations etc. Finally, it looks forward to the development prospect of Minnan culture foreign translation and puts forward suggestions for future research.

Abstract:With the increasingly close cultural exchanges between China and the west, more foreigners show their interest and enthusiasm to Chinese culture. As the exhibition and educational institutions with cultural exchange functions, museums become their preferred visiting sites when they travel in China. In the process of spreading Chinese culture to the world, the translation of cultural relic texts in museum is an important part. This study collects hundreds of cases from exhibition introduction and cultural relic texts in the National Museum of China. Skopos Theory emphasized that translation should be oriented by target readers and the means of translation should be determined by the translation purposes, which is suitable to be applied in analysis of cultural relic texts. Under the guidance of Skopos Theory, the author classifies and analyzes the typical cases and puts forward four methods in the translation of cultural relic texts, including transliteration plus explanation, amplification, free Translation, omission.

Abstract:In the age of globalization along with more frequent cross-cultural interactions, the importance of translation cannot be understated. Translation plays a vital role in facilitating intercultural communication between different countries and cultures. Through translation, people can understand and learn the culture, history, traditions and customs of other countries. Therefore, this paper explores the influence of Chinese and English cultural customs and translation through the study of literature and case studies. It is found that cultural practices have a great impact on language shaping and expression, and there are many difficulties in translating culture-specific terms and cultural customs. In order to better realize the communication and diffusion of cultures and translate effectively, translators need to be sensitive to cultural differences and thoroughly research the similarities and differences among cultures.

Abstract:Traditional Chinese culture is an important resource for the inheritance and development of Chinese culture, and it is an essential spiritual guarantee for national rejuvenation and rise. With the rapid development of the Internet, people often browse relevant websites to learn about their destinations before traveling and tourism. Therefore, in the international tourism field, the translated information on destination official websites plays a crucial role in the external publicity and promotion of tourist destinations. The basis of tourism translation lies in the historical and cultural connotations of the destination, and the cultural differences between Chinese and English pose a major challenge in tourism translation. In order to increase the readability and attractiveness of tourism translation, translators must be able to reproduce the feelings of the original language readers for the target language readers. When conducting translation work, it is necessary to have a deep understanding of the connotations and characteristics of Taoist culture, accurately grasp its core ideas and values, in order to maintain an authentic expression in the translation process. Therefore, this paper discusses the issues and translation strategies of Taoist cultural tourism translation through the analysis of Peter Newmark's theory of communicative translation and the description of the characteristics of Taoist cultural texts, combined with the example of the official English website of Mount Lao. These issues include language difficulty, cultural differences, and translation style. The research in this paper is of great significance for promoting the international dissemination and understanding of Taoist cultural tourism. By applying the theory of communicative translation, we can better achieve the accurate transmission of Taoist cultural tourism information and the understanding and resonance of target readers. At the same time, this research also provides reference and inspiration for other cultural tourism translations, making positive contributions to cross-cultural communication and integration.

It studies the translation strategies and methods used in translating culture-loaded words for international publicity in order to attract more translators (including students majoring in translation) into the field of cultural heritage translation and help Chinese culture "going global". Meanwhile, it is beneficial to promote the development of local tourism and social economy with high quality.

Abstract:This chapter focusses on the importance of translation for international tourism. It argues that translating tourism warrants particular study as a specialized discipline given its intrinsic culture-bound features and the particular different needs and concerns of the new readership. The analysis of tourism studies shows little interest or understanding of translation. On the other hand, translation studies has a great deal of research in the area, but there is little interest in training. The research itself shows a move from pure interest in language through to research on pragmatic features, functional equivalents, cultural orientations and more recently on contrastive multimodality. The chapter then discusses how translation impacts on traditional concerns within tourism studies: accessibility, authenticity, sustainability and the tourist gaze. It argues that Globalization 3.0 is increasing ‘mindless’ translation, which focuses exclusively on the ‘langua’ features with little concern about the cultural or the effects of audience syncing, which, as argued, are fundamental in this field of translation. The chapter concludes with a focus on the critical issue of sustainability and how translation has so far exasperated the problem – but may also contribute to the solution.

Abstract:Tourism is a typical cross-cultural communication activity, and is very important for globalization. And tourism English translation is an important connection in cross-culture communication. With the development of international tourist trade, more and more materials concerning it need to be translated into English, of course scenic spots translation included. Among the existing versions, especially materials about the scenic spots, there are a large number of examples. But at the same time, still a great deal of mistakes can be found in the translation of scenic spots which make it difficult for the foreigners to learn Chinese culture, and it is a major obstacle to promote Chinese culture to the world. As for many reasons, there exist many problems in the tourism English translation of our country. Especially because most of the translators don’t have a cross-cultural awareness, and what they translate always causes great difficult for foreign scholars and visitors to understand, so how to do with this problem is pretty significant and emergency. Because traveling is cross-culture activity, translation of texts at scenic spots must be dealt with from a cross-cultural perspective，thus makes it more difficult for translators to manage the tasks. It not only acquires translators to have keep knowledge of literary language, but also know very well both cultures. In this article, the author explores this issue from the following aspect: different linguistic and stylistic characteristics of tourist texts between Chinese and English translation of the names of scenic spots and personal names, translation of historical and cultural names, and translation of Chinese poetry in texts; how these differences affect the translation materials; later get some suggestions to wish to raise the translators’ professionalism to eliminate the large barriers.

Abstract:As tourism translation plays an important role in the strategy of improving cultural soft power and cultural outreach, many scholars have conducted research on tourism translation using different theories. Under the framework of the Eco-Translation Theory proposed by Hu Gengshen, this paper conducts a comparative study on the English-Chinese translation of selected tourism texts from the linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension respectively. Through the case studies, the author finds that there are corresponding adaptations and selections in the process of translation of tourism texts, which result in different tourism translation strategies. Based on this, the paper concludes countermeasures and methods to improve the quality of tourism translation, hoping to promote the foreign promotion of tourism resources in relevant provinces and cities.

Abstract:Chinese tourism has been revised since the Covid-19 quarantine policy was abolished. Tourism institutions are going to continue to attract inbound and international tourists by using tourism promotional materials. Tourism commonly seems like an intercultural communication process. Therefore, translating Chinese tourism promotional materials into English with good quality should be highlighted, such as leaflets, brochures, websites, etc. However, while promotional discourse in the tourism industry has been developed for many years, previous studies indicated that some English translations of tourism promotional materials fail to achieve very promotional efficacy, or worse, leave a negative impression on international tourists. This paper aims to focus on analyzing the translation errors of tourism promotional materials and improve them from Eco-translatology perspective, namely Three-dimensional Transformation. Finally, the findings argue that the essential reason for the translation errors is ascribed to the lack of persuasive tourism skills and the non-consideration of Anglophone tourists’ characteristics.
