Abstract:Karyotyping is an important process in chromosome segmentation and classification to identify defected chromosomes. In this paper, a novel deep learning based Hybrid ghost-Net (DLH-GN) model is presented for effective chromosome segmentation from metaspread images. Initially, the input images contain some noises like intermodulation noise, which is denoised and deblurred using the Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) model. Additionally, the contrast in the images can be enhanced by the Quadrant Histogram intensity values (QHIV) mechanism to improve the quality of the images. The pre-processed output is passed into hybrid Ghost-UNet to segment the chromosome effectively. The segmentation of chromosomes helps to identify the genetic disease earlier. Finally, the loss function in the model and the hyperparameter tuning can be optimized by hybrid adaptive remora with dipper throated optimization algorithm (HR-DTO). Here, two publicly available datasets are used such as the cell image library dataset and the bioimage chromosome classification dataset. The proposed model can obtain an accuracy of 97.45 %, precision of 97.12 %, Matthews correlation coefficient (MCC) of 97.03 %, Kappa of 97.65 %, Jaccard index of 97.98 %, Dice similarity of 96.98 %, Mean squared error (MSE) of 0.326, peak signal noise ratio (PSNR) of 94.998, structured similarity index measure (SSIM) of 93.221 and testing time of 12.56 s in cell image library dataset. In the bioimage chromosome classification dataset, the proposed model can obtain an accuracy of 98.34 %, precision of 97.889 %, MCC of 97.954 %, Kappa of 98.549 %, Jaccard index of 98.001 %, dice similarity of 97.93 %, PSNR of 96.87 %, SSIM of 94.89 % and testing time of 10.283 s.
