May, Ahmedin Jemal Background: Black individuals have a disproportionately higher burden of colorectal cancer (CRC) incidence and mortality in the United States. However, racial patterns for early-onset disease may have changed in recent years because of rising incidence that is largely confined to White individuals. Methods: We examined CRC occurrence in adults aged 20-49 years (early-onset) by race and ethnicity based on combined incidence data from the National Cancer Institute and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during 1995-2017 and mortality data from CDC’ s National Center for Health Statistics during 1995-2018.
