Abstract:The existence of the Gorenstein projective precovers over arbitrary rings is an open question. It is known that if the ring has finite Gorenstein global dimension, then every module has a Gorenstein projective precover. We prove here a "reduction" property - we show that, over any ring, it suffices to consider finitely presented modules: if there exists a nonnegative integer $n$ such that every finitely presented module has Gorenstein projective dimension $\le n$, then the class of Gorenstein projective modules is special precovering.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove that for a $n$-perfect ring $R$ various classes of relative Gorenstein projective $R$-modules are special precovering, among them including the Gorenstein projectives and Ding projectives. Also we prove that the class of projectively coresolved Gorenstein flat $\mathcal{PGF} (R)$ fulfils the same feature. We also introduce a new class of Gorenstein projective $R$-modules relative to the Auslander class $\mathcal{A} _{C} (R)$ of a semidualizing $(R,S)$-bimodule $_R C_S$.

Abstract:Let R be a ring, Proj be the class of all the projective right R -modules, be the full subcategory of the homotopy category K (Proj) whose class of objects consists of all the totally acyclic complexes, and be the class of all the morphisms in K (Proj) whose cones belong to . We prove that if K (Proj) has enough -injective objects, then the Verdier quotient has small Hom-sets, and this last condition implies the existence of Gorenstein-projective precovers in Mod- R and of totally acyclic precovers in C (Mod- R ).

The model structure is cofibrantly generated and is projective in the sense that the trivially cofibrant objects are the categorically projective chain complexes. We show that when R is a Ding-Chen ring, that is, a two-sided coherent ring with finite self FP-injective dimension, then the model structure is finitely generated, and so its homotopy category is compactly generated. Constructing this model structure also shows that every chain complex over any ring has a Gorenstein AC-projective precover. These are precisely Gorenstein projective (in the usual sense) precovers whenever R is either a Ding-Chen ring, or, a ring for which all level (left) R-modules have finite projective dimension. For a general (right) coherent ring R, the Gorenstein AC-projective complexes coincide with the Ding projective complexes of [31] and so provide such precovers in this case.

Abstract:We show that an iteration of the procedure used to define the Gorenstein projective modules over a ring R yields exactly the Gorenstein projective modules. Specifically, given an exact sequence of Gorenstein projective left R-modules G = ...G(1)G(0)G(0)G(1)... such that the complex Hom(R)(G, H) is exact for each projective left R-module H, the module Im(G(0)G(0)) is Gorenstein projective. We also get similar results for Gorenstein flat left R-modules when R is a right coherent ring. As applications, we obtain the corresponding results for Gorenstein complexes.
The stable category of Gorenstein-projective modules over a monomial algebra

Abstract:Let $\Lambda$ be an arbitrary monomial algebra. We investigate the stable category $\underline{\operatorname{Gproj}}^{\mathbb{Z}}\Lambda$ of graded Gorenstein-projective $\Lambda$-modules and the orbit category $\underline{\operatorname{Gproj}}^{\mathbb{Z}} \Lambda/(1)$ induced by $\underline{\operatorname{Gproj}}^{\mathbb{Z}}\Lambda$ and the degree shift functor $(1)$. We prove that $\underline{\operatorname{Gproj}}^{\mathbb{Z}}\Lambda$ is triangle equivalent to the bounded derived category of a path algebra of Dynkin type $\mathbb{A}$ and that $\underline{\operatorname{Gproj}}^{\mathbb{Z}}\Lambda/(1)$ is triangle equivalent to the stable module category of a self-injective Nakayama algebra. Both the path algebra and the self-injective Nakayama algebra will be given explicitly. The latter result provides an explicit description of the stable category of (ungraded) Gorenstein-projective $\Lambda$-modules.

Abstract:For a regular normal element in an arbitrary ring, we study the category of its module factorizations. The cokernel functor relates module factorizations with Gorenstein projective components to Gorenstein projective modules over the quotient ring. The results are vast extensions of Eisenbud's matrix factorization theorem.

Abstract:Let R be a ring such that all flat R -modules have finite strongly FP-injective dimension. We obtain that the class of all Gorenstein projective modules forms a left-hand class of complete and hereditary cotosion pair. As applications, we prove that the same behavior holds for the class of all weak Gorenstein flat modules. We also obtain a characterization of global Gorenstein flat-cotorsion dimension of rings in terms of weak Gorenstein flat modules.

Abstract:In this article, we introduce a class of generalized matrix algebras, in which each algebra is called a normally upper triangular gm algebra, and characterise Gorenstein projective modules over this class of algebras. Moreover, a sufficient condition of strongly Gorenstein projective modules over normally upper triangular gm algebras is given. The importance of normally upper triangular gm algebras for us is that it includes the so-called path algebras of quivers over algebras and generalized path algebras. Due to this, we characterize Gorenstein projective modules and strongly Gorenstein projective modules over path algebras of quivers over algebras and generalized path algebras as applications of the main results on normally upper triangular gm algebras. At last, we give an example to show how all indecomposable Gorenstein projective modules over a given algebra are constructed by the result on generalized path algebras.
The cotorsion pair generated by the Gorenstein projective modules and $λ$-pure-injective modules

Abstract:We prove that, if $\textrm{GProj}$ is the class of all Gorenstein projective modules over a ring $R$, then $\mathfrak{GP}=(\textrm{GProj},\textrm{GProj}^\perp)$ is a cotorsion pair. Moreover, $\mathfrak{GP}$ is complete when all projective modules are $\lambda$-pure-injective for some infinite regular cardinal $\lambda$ (in particular, if $R$ is right $\Sigma$-pure-injective); the latter condition is shown to be consistent with the axioms of ZFC modulo the existence of strongly compact cardinals. We also thoroughly study $\lambda$-pure-injective modules for an arbitrary infinite regular cardinal $\lambda$, proving along the way that: any cosyzygy module in an injective coresolution of a $\lambda$-pure-injective module is $\lambda$-pure-injective; the cotorsion pair cogenerated by a class of $\lambda$-pure-injective modules is cogenerated by a set and, under an additional technical assumption, generated by a set. Finally, assuming the set-theoretic hypothesis that $0^\sharp$ does not exist, we prove that the category of right $R$-modules has enough $\lambda$-pure-injective objects if and only if the ring $R$ is right pure-semisimple. This, in turn, follows from a rather surprising result that $\lambda$-pure-injectivity amounts to pure-injectivity in the absence of $0^\sharp$.

Abstract:We give necessary and sufficient conditions in order for the class of projectively coresolved Gorenstein flat modules, <math>PGF</math> (respectively that of projectively coresolved Gorenstein <math>B</math> flat modules, <math>PGFB</math>), to coincide with the class of Ding projective modules (<math>DP).</math> We show that <math>PGF=DP</math> if and only if every Ding projective module is Gorenstein flat. This is the case if the ring R is coherent for example. We include an example to show that the coherence is a sufficient, but not a necessary condition in order to have <math>PGF=DP.</math> We also show that <math>PGF=DP</math> over any ring R of finite weak Gorenstein global dimension (this condition is also sufficient, but not necessary). We prove that if the class of Ding projective modules, <math>DP,</math> is covering then the ring R is perfect. And we show that, over a coherent ring R, the converse also holds. We also give necessary and sufficient conditions in order to have <math>PGF=GP,</math> where <math>GP</math> is the class of Gorenstein projective modules.Communicated by Ellen Kirkman

Abstract:AbstractIn this paper, strongly Gorenstein flat modules are introduced and investigated. An R-module M is called strongly Gorenstein flat if there is an exact sequence ⋯→P1→P0→P0→P1→⋯ of projective R-modules with M=ker (P0→P1) such that Hom(−,F) leaves the sequence exact whenever F is a flat R-module. Several well-known classes of rings are characterized in terms of strongly Gorenstein flat modules. Some examples are given to show that strongly Gorenstein flat modules over coherent rings lie strictly between projective modules and Gorenstein flat modules. The strongly Gorenstein flat dimension and the existence of strongly Gorenstein flat precovers and pre-envelopes are also studied.

Abstract:Let C be a semidualizing module over a commutative Noetherian ring R . We investigate duality pairs induced by C -Gorenstein projective modules. It is proven that R is Artinian if and only if (𝒢𝒫𝒞,𝒢ℐ𝒞) is a duality pair if and only if (𝒢ℐ𝒞,𝒢𝒫𝒞) is a duality pair and M^+∈𝒢ℐ𝒞 whenever M∈𝒢𝒫𝒞 , where 𝒢𝒫𝒞 ( 𝒢ℐ𝒞 ) is the class of 𝒢𝒞 -Gorenstein projective ( 𝒢𝒞 -Gorenstein injective) R -modules. In particular, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for a commutative Artinian ring to be virtually Gorenstein. Moreover, we get that R is Artinian if and only if the class 𝒢𝒫 of Gorentein projective R -modules is preenveloping. As applications, some new criteria for a semidualizing module to be dualizing are given provided that R is a commutative Artinian ring.

Abstract:We prove that the class of Gorenstein injective modules, $\mathcal{GI}$, is special precovering if and only if it is covering if and only if it is closed under direct limits. This adds to the list of examples that support Enochs' conjecture:\\ "Every covering class of modules is closed under direct limits".\\ We also give a characterization of the rings for which $\mathcal{GI}$ is covering: the class of Gorenstein injective left $R$-modules is covering if and only if $R$ is left noetherian, and such that character modules of Gorenstein injective left $R$ modules are Gorenstein flat.

Abstract:Let [Formula: see text] be a Hopf algebroid and [Formula: see text] a left [Formula: see text]-module algebra. In this paper, we mainly present the duality theorem for the smash product [Formula: see text], and making use of integral theory for Hopf algebroids, we investigate the stability of Gorenstein injective pre-envelopes and Gorenstein projective precovers between the category of [Formula: see text]-modules and the category of [Formula: see text]-modules. Moreover, we establish the relationship between Gorenstein global dimension of [Formula: see text] and that of [Formula: see text], and prove that [Formula: see text] has finite representation type, resp. is selfinjective, resp. is CM-finite [Formula: see text]-Gorenstein, if and only if [Formula: see text] has the same property under suitable conditions. Abstract:Let A be an abelian category with enough projective objects and let X be a full subcategory of A. We define Gorenstein projective objects with respect to X and YX , respectively, where YX={Y ∈ Ch(A)|Y is acyclic and ZnY ∈ X}. We point out that under certain hypotheses, these two Gorensein projective objects are related in a nice way. In particular, if P(A) ⊆ X , we show that X ∈ Ch(A) is Gorenstein projective with respect to YX if and only if X is Gorenstein projective with respect to X for each i, when X is a self-orthogonal class or X is Hom(−,X )-exact. Subsequently, we consider the relationships of Gorenstein projective dimensions between them. As an application, if A is of finite left Gorenstein projective global dimension with respect to X and contains an injective cogenerator, then we find a new model structure on Ch(A) by Hovey’s results in [14].
