Abstract:Maritime transportation critical for international trade due to serve movement of cargo. In order to ensure that transportation is not affected by interruption event, it is necessary to maintain appropriate resilience of maritime services. To enhance the resilience of the maritime supply chain, we examine the feasibility of implementing a one-stop service model. Specifically, this study constructs a game-theoretical model to describe the service value of a one-stop model in the maritime supply chain, which involves a port and two carriers with asymmetric competition. The findings reveal three key aspects. Firstly, we examine the equilibrium strategy for port and carriers in the uncertain environment. In small market, the traditional service model of one-stop is preferred. However, when the market size exceeds a certain threshold, the equilibrium strategy shifts towards a one-stop service as the most popular choice. Secondly, we propose a resilience index to quantify the maritime service resilience under port congestion. The equilibrium strategy is to adopt a more integrated one-stop service in the maritime supply chain, which reveals the interplay between port congestion and maritime resilience. Finally, we also investigate the correlation between maritime resilience, port expansion, and competition intensity. The findings indicate that firms could monitor market fluctuations to prevent port congestion rather than solely focusing on economic benefits.
