Abstract:In this article, we consider the effects of double diffusion on magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) Carreau fluid flow through a porous medium along a stretching sheet. Variable thermal conductivity and suction/injection parameter effects are also taken into the consideration. Similarity transformations are utilized to transform the equations governing the Carreau fluid flow model to dimensionless non-linear ordinary differential equations. Maple software is utilized for the numerical solution. These solutions are then presented through graphs. The velocity, concentration, temperature profile, skin friction coefficient, and the Nusselt and Sherwood numbers under the impact of different parameters are studied. The fluid flow is analyzed for both suction and injection cases. From the analysis carried out, it is observed that the velocity profile reduces by increasing the porosity parameter while it enhances both the temperature and concentration profile. The temperature field enhances with increasing the variable thermal conductivity and the Nusselt number exhibits opposite behavior.

Abstract:Brownian motions and Thermophoresis are primary sources of nanoparticle diffusion in nanofluids, having substantial implications for the thermo-physical characteristics of nanofluids. With such a high need, the two-dimensional, laminar MHD quadratic convective stream of Carreau-Yasuda nano liquid across the stretchy sheet has been reported. The flow is caused by surface stretching. The principal purpose of this extensive study is to enhance thermal transmission. The effects of variable thermal conductivity and heat source are considered as well. The governing boundary layer equations are transmuted using similarity parameters into a series of nonlinear ODEs. The bvp4c algorithm is adopted to fix the translated system numerically. The effects of prominent similarity variables over the temperature, velocity, and concentration field are graphically visualized and verified via tables. It explored that fluid's speed diminishes for the more significant inputs of the magnetic coefficient, Brownian motion coefficient, and Prandtl number. The thermal efficiency is improved for larger values of thermophoretic constant, varying thermal conductance, and heat-generating parameters. The concentration field has proved to be a decreasing function of nanofluid constants.

Abstract:In this research, we take into account tangent hyperbolic nanofluid flow along a moving stretched surface with thermal radiation, exothermic/endothermic chemical reaction and activation energy effects under melting condition. Governing PDE are transformed to dimensionless non-linear ODE with the add of appropriate similarity variables. The resulting non-linear ODE are solved numerically. The flow parameters influences on the fluid?s velocity, temperature, and concentration distributions are investigated. The results revealed that temperature profile is declining while concentration and velocity profiles are increasing for enhancing melting parameter.

Abstract:This manuscript deals with heat and mass flow in Engine Oil (EO) based copper and alumina (Cu−Al2O3) hybrid nanofluid. Flow of the fluid is initiated with the sudden oscillations of the vertical plate. Magnetic effects on free convectional flow of hybrid nanofluid are considered. Newtonian heating effects on the surface are also taken into account. Although viscous dissipation is neglected but Soret effects are investigated. These effects accelerates the heat transfer rate due to movement of fluid molecules from hot to cold surfaces. For memory effects, fractional thermal heat flux along with Caputo–Fabrizio time fractional derivative has been used to generate a generalized flow model. Laplace transform technique has been used to operate the non dimensional coupled system. Role of associated physical parameters is observed with graphical observations of the obtained solutions. It is also detected that generalized boundary conditions provide effective and innovative solutions for the oscillating flow of hybrid nanofluid which analyzed the flow characteristics in a more significant way.

Abstract:This study employs the Hybrid Analytical-Numerical (HAN) method to investigate steady two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) nanofluid flow over a permeable wedge. Analyzing hyperbolic tangent nanofluid flow, the governing time-independent partial differential equations (PDEs) for continuity, momentum, energy, and concentration transform into a set of nonlinear third-order coupled ordinary differential equations (ODEs) through similarity transformations. These ODEs encompass critical parameters such as Lewis and Prandtl numbers, Brownian diffusion, Weissenberg number, thermophoresis, Dufour and Soret numbers, magnetic field strength, thermal radiation, power law index, and medium permeability. The study explores how variations in these parameters impact the velocity field, skin friction coefficient, Nusselt, and Sherwood numbers. Noteworthy findings include the sensitivity of fluid velocity to parameters like Weissenberg number, power law index, wedge angle, magnetic field strength, permeability, and melting heat transfer. The skin friction coefficient experiences a significant increase with specific parameter changes, while Nusselt and Sherwood numbers remain relatively constant. The local Reynolds number significantly affects Nusselt and Sherwood numbers, with a less pronounced impact on the skin friction coefficient. The study's uniqueness lies in employing the analytical HAN method and extracting recent insights from the results.

Abstract:Microfluidic technology and Micro Electromechanical Systems (MEMS) have received much attention in science and engineering fields over the last few years. MEMS can be found in many areas like heat exchangers, chemical separation devices, bio-chemical analysis and micro pumps. Keeping these facts in mind, the prime purpose of the current paper is to present the flow of Carreau nanofluids through the micro-channel with the electro-osmosis, Joule heating and chemical reactions. The effect of external magnetic field is also considered into account. For the formulation of the problem, the Cartesian coordinate system is considered. The perturbed solutions have been presented by making use of regular perturbation method. The graphical results also prepared corresponding to numerous values of fluid flow phenomenon like velocity, temperature, solutal nano-particle concentration, Sherwood number and Nusselt number with different fluid variables. It is concluded from our analysis that; velocity decrement is identified with respect to the enhancing the magnetic parameter (Hartmann number). The Schmidt number, Radiation term, Prandtl number and chemical reaction term increase the solutal nano-particle concentration. The outcomes of the Newtonian liquid model can be obtained from our scrutiny. The present scrutiny has many applications in engineering sciences such as electromagnetic micro pumps and nano-mechanics.

Abstract:We have investigated the influence of hybrid nanoparticles on various physical quantities in a water-based hybrid nanofluid involved in a steady and fully developed forced convective flow generated over a stretched surface. A similar trend takes place with increasing nonlinear thermal radiation while the reverse is noticed for Eckert number. The entropy generation rate increases with the increase in Brinkman number and Bejan number reduces with increasing Eckert number. The obtained results of this model closely match with those available in the literature as a limiting situation. It is demonstrated that hybrid nanofluids exhibit lower entropy generation rates. The results of this study are of importance in the assessment of the effect of some essential design parameters on heat transfer and, consequently, in the optimization of industrial processes.

Abstract:This comparative study inspects the heat transfer characteristics of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) nanofluid flow. The model employed is a two-phase fluid flow model. Water is utilized as the base fluid, and zinc and titanium oxide (Zn and TiO2) are used as two different types of nanoparticles. The rotation of nanofluid is considered along the z-axis, with velocity ω*. A similarity transformation is used to transform the leading structure of partial differential equations to ordinary differential equations. By using a powerful mathematical BVP-4C technique, numerical results are obtained. This study aims to describe the possessions of different constraints on temperature and velocity for rotating nanofluid with a magnetic effect. The outcomes for the rotating nanofluid flow and heat transference properties for both types of nanoparticles are highlighted with the help of graphs and tables. The impact of physical concentrations such as heat transference rates and coefficients of skin friction are examined. It is noted that rotation increases the heat flux and decreases skin friction. In this comparative study, Zn-water nanofluid was demonstrated to be a worthy heat transporter as compared to TiO2-water nanofluid.

Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations

Abstract:The main objective of this paper is to numerically investigate the results of a mathematical model for unsteady magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) boundary layer flow over a porous stretching surface. The analysis of non‐Newtonian Maxwell nanofluid is presented involving the influence of porous media, thermal radiation, viscous dissipation, and joule heating through the Keller box method. Partial slip and convective conditions are also enacted near the boundary. After using the similarity technique on the governing system of nonlinear partial differential equations, the Keller box method is then implemented to find out the numerical solution for copper–water Cu–H2O and molybdenum disulfide MoS2–H2O nanofluids. The impact of various governing flow parameters is interpreted numerically and illustrated graphically on the interaction of particles. Additionally, numerical results are further utilized to calculate the skin friction coefficient and heat transfer rate at the boundary. Finally, in a limiting case, the acquired numerical results are compared with existing results. The remarkable finding of the present study is that Cu–H2O based nanofluid is detected as a superior thermal conductor instead of MoS2–H2O based nanofluid.

Numerical Heat Transfer Part A Applications

Abstract:Melting heat and solutal transference in a magnetohydrodynamic flowing of Williamson nanofluid have been described, with the mathematical model guided by Arrhenius activation energy, chemically reactive species, and convective boundary restrictions. By implementing suitable similarity conversions, the regulating equations of partial differential equations (PDEs) (formed by continuity, impetus, energy, and concentricity components) are condensed to an arrangement of ordinary differential equations (ODEs). These commonalities are in nonlinear form, which includes the fluid's velocity, heat, and concentration changes. Finally, the standard Keller box approach is used to solve this ODEs system computationally (KBM). Under the influence of regulating parameters, the computational results are tallied and displayed in suitable diagrams. The friction force factor, local Nusselt, and Sherwood values are tabulated. Furthermore, the velocity, energy, and concentration contours are plotted versus fluid thickness. The attributes of Williamson nanofluid flowing, melting heat transfer, and mass transference are debated in depth toward the end of this study. Among the most important outcomes that have been reached is that the rate of heat and solutal transport heightened between 52.5 and 55.2% by detraction of the magnetic field, Weissenberg number, and Brownian motion. We also found that there is an inverse relationship between the mass transmission and heat generating factor.

Abstract:Opportunities for magnetohydrodynamic mixed convection include modeling firefighting, combustion engineering, and cooling of electronic components. Nanotechnology has just provided a novel passive technique for improving heat transfer. Structured colloidal suspensions of magnetite nanoparticles in a base fluid are known as magneto nanofluids, and they are intended for use in thermal transfer uses, such as micro device cooling mechanisms. The current model is intended for examination of the nanofluid stagnation point flow using magnetohydrodynamics. A stretched sheet was exposed to magnetic strength and thermal radiation effects with outstanding results on heat transfer enhancements under mixed convection conditions. Furthermore, over the boundary effects of thermal slip and velocity are considered. The persuading system of partial differential equations of the governed fluid model is transformed into a scheme of coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations and expounded using a suitable numerical method. The fluid's velocity, temperature, and concentration of nanoparticles are discussed graphically for a range of newly emerging parametric values. It has been noted that when there is a magnetic field, the fluid's temperature increases, but its velocity decreases. After obtaining the numerical solution, parameters characterizing the flow, such as the local skin friction coefficient, local Sherwood number, and local Nusselt number, are thoroughly investigated.

Abstract:Nanoparticles have the ability to increase the impact of convective heat transfer in the boundary layer region. An investigation is made to analysis of magnetohdrodynamic nanofluid flow with heat and mass transfer over a vertical cone in porous media under the impact of thermal radiations and chemical reaction. In addition, thermal radiations, Hall current, and viscous and Joule dissipations and chemical reaction effects are considered. Considered three different nanoparticles types namely copper, silver, and titanium dioxide with water as base fluid. The governing equations are transformed by similarity transformations into a set of non-linear ordinary differential equations involving variable coefficients. Two numerically approaches are used to solve the transformed boundary layer system Finite Difference Method (FDM) and Chebyshev-Galerkin Method (CGM). As stated in the present analysis, it is appropriate to address a number of physical mechanisms, including velocity, temperature and concentration, as well as closed-form skin friction/mass transfer/heat transfer coefficients. Different comparisons are done with previously published data in order to validate the current study under specific special circumstances, and it is determined that there is a very high degree of agreement. The main results indicated that as the Prandtl number increases, the temperature profile decreases, but it grows for higher values of the thermophoresis parameter, Brownian motion, and Eckert number. Moreover, higher Brownian motion values lead to a less prominent concentration profile. Consequently, this speeds up the cooling process and enhances the surface's durability and strength.

Abstract:The water-based nanofluid analysis of a ferromagnetic fluid flow in a channel has been conducted over a dimpled cavity. The horizontal flat walls are assumed to be adiabatic, whereas the dimpled part and the inner rectangular-finned-shaped obstacle are heated. The system of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) along with boundary conditions have been solved via Galerkin Weighted Residual Finite Element Method. To predict the streamlines isotherms, local and average Nusselt numbers, all the simulations are performed for various Reynold and Hartmann numbers. High Reynolds numbers, results in significant improvement in heat transfer at the dimpled surface. It is believed that such investigation might be helpful to make a base for finding the experimental results for mixed convection of ferromagnetic nanofluid problem over a dimpled cavity.

Abstract:The study of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) incompressible flow of a fluid having hybrid nanoparticles making the colloidal combination with base fluid is presented in this research. Comparative analysis is carried out for the nanofluids Al2O3/Kerosene and ZnO/Kerosene oil with the hybrid nanofluid Al2O3–ZnO/Kerosene oil. The subject flows are influenced with thermal radiation and viscous dissipation. A numerical technique Keller box is employed to examine the envision mathematical model. For computational procedure MATLAB software will be used. Tabulated and graphical outcomes of different effects are presented for the appraisal of velocity and temperature distributions. It is comprehend that the thermal radiation and viscous dissipation parameters possess up surging trends for the hybrid and nanofluid temperature profile but opposite trend has been observed for different volume fractions of nanoparticles.

Abstract:The present work has abundant applications in the branch of mechanical engineering. Heat and mass transport analysis is very important in the manufacturing of various mechanical systems like heat exchangers, domestic refrigerator, fuel cells, hybrid-powered engines and thermal management of vehicles. We explored the features of three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow and heat transport phenomenon of Carreau nanoliquid over a stretched sheet under the influence of thermal radiation. The system of ordinary differential expressions is developed through the implication of similarity variables. Solutions of governed non-linear expressions are accomplished by a well-known Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg fourth and fifth order scheme. The characterization of pertinent parameters is visualized through plotted graphs and tables. It is found that both Weissenberg number and magnetic field parameter enhance the temperature and reduce the liquid velocity. The temperature of liquid is increased when the values of Brownian motion and thermophoretic parameters enhance. A comparative benchmark is presented to justify the validity of solutions.

Abstract:The present study numerically investigated the entropy production in nanofluids' dissipative unsteady oscillatory flow characterised by variable electric conductivity and magnetic heating effects. The imposition of the non-isothermal boundary condition on the oscillatory stretching sheet plays a crucial role in establishing the self-similar solution in the presence of viscous heating. An external magnetic field (uniform in space and time) is imposed perpendicular to the plane of the oscillating stretched boundary. The energy equation, incorporating viscous dissipation effects and momentum equation, is reduced to nonlinear coupled partial differential equations and numerically solved using the Gear-generalized differential quadrature scheme. The Corcione model is implemented to describe the nanofluid's effective viscosity and thermal conductivity. Furthermore, expressions for entropy production and relative irreversibility parameter (Bejan number), considering variable electric conductivity, are derived and computed based on solutions obtained from momentum and energy equations. The impacts of parameters such as magnetic parameter, variable electric conductivity parameter, Eckert number, Strouhal number, Prandtl number and temperature difference parameters on flow, heat transfer, entropy generation, and Bejan number are systematically illustrated and examined. We observed that increasing the variable electric conductivity parameters reduces the velocity profiles while improving the thermal fields. Similar behaviour is found when the strength of a magnetic field is increased. The skin friction coefficient exhibits an augmentation in response to the Eckert number, dimensionless time, Strouhal number, nanoparticle volume fraction, magnetic parameter, and variable thermal conductivity parameter. Conversely, the Nusselt number increases concerning the Strouhal number and nanoparticle volume fraction. At the same time, it declines in association with the magnetic parameter, dimensionless time, Eckert number, and variable electric conductivity parameter. Additionally, to ensure the precision and reliability of the outcomes, the numerical code undergoes a thorough validation process that involves comparing its outputs to the findings of previous available studies. This comprehensive investigation enhances our understanding of nanofluid dynamics and provides valuable insights for optimising thermal management systems across various engineering disciplines.
