Abstract:The paper uses data from 30 provinces across the country from 2011 to 2019, measures the level of the digital economy based on the entropy method and constructs the ML productivity index to measure the total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry, uses technological innovation as an intermediary variable, and divides technological innovation into imitation innovation and technology introduction Based on the three types of independent innovation, the relationship between digital economy, technological innovation and High‐quality development of manufacturing is investigated.Research shows that the digital economy has significantly promoted green total factor productivity in manufacturing, and technology introduction and independent innovation have played a positive intermediary role in the relationship between the two, and independent innovation has a greater intermediary effect; regional heterogeneity In the eastern region, the impact of the digital economy on the green total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry is not significant, but the impact is more significant in the central and western regions, and the mediating effect of imitative innovation and independent innovation is more significant in the central and western regions.At the time when China’s economic growth is transforming the old and new kinetic energy, more attention should be paid to independent innovation, to cultivate innovation platforms, to promote digital industrialization and industrial digitization, and to achieve High‐quality development of the manufacturing industry.

Abstract:The newest methods of scientometrics and the visibility technology are used to to draw up scientific knowledge mapping of co-word network of the contemporary international manufacturing and to lay out that there are three main knowledge clusters of research fronts in international manufacturing, and the paper opens out their subject adscription and correlation, and more the paper expounds three main research fronts clusters of international manufacturing, which belong to the category of engineering and technology science, as well as application technology research based on theory-oriented. Consequently, the paper also offers the clues of decision-making and reference for China to follow and to occupy the highland of the world's development frontier in the field of international manufacturing. ©2010 IEEE.

Abstract:Advanced manufacturing uses emerging technologies to critically enhance not only the economic competitiveness of individual manufacturers but also the sustainability of the whole industrial sector. New materials and technologies require new manufacturing processes and novel analytical models for process controls and parameter optimization regarding cost, reliability, quality, product flexibility, energy consumption, and fossil carbon emissions. The successful adoption of advanced manufacturing for sustainability can only be realized by following a systematic approach from concept development, product design and manufacturing to product delivery and service as well as in forward and reverse supply chain management. This special volume reports on progress of advanced manufacturing on sustainability improvements along the whole life cycle and covers the six themes: 1. Design theory and methodology for sustainability with advanced manufacturing; 2. Energy efficiency assessment and control of mechanical manufacturing systems; 3. Parameter optimization for advanced manufacturing and remanufacturing; 4. Low fossil-carbon process planning and production scheduling; 5. Integration of supply-chain innovations and advanced manufacturing; 6. Sustainable innovation for product-service systems. In addition, this SV introductory article, highlights future research directions, such as the need for energy consumption and emission data for advanced manufacturing processes, optimization models and control schemes, supply chain innovations, and product-service integration.

Abstract:Manufacturing paradigm plays a very important role in the national competitiveness of manufacturing industries. In recent 40 years,the developed countries have begun their research programs in advanced system and new paradigms such as intelligent manufacturing,mass customization and sustainable manufacturing,have been proposed in a bid to exceed the traditional mass production paradigm. The research in system area considers not only the technical factor,but also economic and social factors. The research in system area covers from modeling,analyzing,and designing system to operating and controlling it. The fundamental objectives are optimizations of productivity,quality,cost,service,and environment as well. Today on the one hand,we still need tremendous tasks on optimizing tool which is usually obtained from operations research and system theory because of the complexity of system. On the other hand the modern information and communication technology (ICT) has supplied new opportunities,the information driven manufacturing has become the hottest research topics and made a great progress. In the future the system must be planned and operated more precisely than today,based on the new ICT,to win the competitiveness. Looking into the future,manufacturing systems will develop toward the directions of precision,green and service. Under this background,the research on systems will face more opportunities and challenges.

Abstract:Intelligent products and equipment is the value carrier, technological prerequisite and material base of intelligent manufacturing and service. The intelligent products and equipment refers to two dialectical aspects: on the one hand, commercialization of intelligent technology, turning intelligence technology into products, which is mainly reflected in the comprehensive application of the Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing, edge computing, machine learning, deep learning, security monitoring, automation control, computer technology, precision sensing technology, and GPS positioning technology; On the other hand, the intelligent products and equipment refers to the intellectualization of traditional products. The new-generation artificial intelligence endows traditional products with higher intelligence and injects strong vitality and developmental motivation into traditional products in the aspect of intelligent manufacturing equipment, intelligent production, and intelligent management. Based on extensive scientific surveys and current researches, and combined with the ten major fields of Made in China 2025 and macro policies such as the Three-Year Action Plan for Artificial Intelligence, twelve major equipment fields of intelligent products and equipment are formulated. Researches show that the new-generation intelligent products and equipment focuses on knowledge engineering and is prominently characterized by self-sensing, self-adaptation, self-learning, and self-decision-making. Ten key technologies will be prioritized in future.

Abstract:With ever-increasing market competition and advances in technology, more and more countries are prioritizing advanced manufacturing technology as their top priority for economic growth. Germany announced the Industry 4.0 strategy in 2013. The US government launched the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership (AMP) in 2011 and the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI) in 2014. Most recently, the Manufacturing USA initiative was officially rolled out to further “leverage existing resources... to nurture manufacturing innovation and accelerate commercialization” by fostering close collaboration between industry, academia, and government partners. In 2015, the Chinese government officially published a 10-year plan and roadmap toward manufacturing: Made in China 2025. In all these national initiatives, the core technology development and implementation is in the area of advanced manufacturing systems. A new manufacturing paradigm is emerging, which can be characterized by two unique features: integrated manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing. This trend is in line with the progress of industrial revolutions, in which higher efficiency in production systems is being continuously pursued. To this end, 10 major technologies can be identified for the new manufacturing paradigm. This paper describes the rationales and needs for integrated and intelligent manufacturing (i2M) systems. Related technologies from different fields are also described. In particular, key technological enablers, such as the Internet of Things and Services (IoTS), cyber-physical systems (CPSs), and cloud computing are discussed. Challenges are addressed with applications that are based on commercially available platforms such as General Electric (GE)’s Predix and PTC’s ThingWorx.
Data Empowerment and Innovation in Chinese Manufacturing Enterprises: Frontier Analysis and Prospect*

Abstract:The development of data science provides new opportunities for innovation in Chinese manufacturing enterprises. As the manufacturing sector urgently needs transformation and upgrading, studying how data empowerment drives innovation in manufacturing enterprises is of strategic significance. This work reviews domestic and foreign research from five aspects: product innovation, business model innovation, long-term competitiveness of enterprises, innovation ecosystem of enterprises, and industry upgrading. It summarizes the main forms and objects of data empowerment, analyzes the paths and mechanisms of data empowerment, and creates a systematic research framework to explore the "black box" of data empowerment that drives manufacturing innovation. Such a framework provides theoretical references for the transformation and upgrading of China's manufacturing sector. Finally, future prospects are proposed to address the extant research gaps and to conduct more indepth research on innovation driven by data empowerment in the manufacturing sector.

Abstract:Against the backdrop of swiftly changing industrial environments, this study aims to investigate the influence of technology convergence on the sustainable innovation of manufacturing enterprises. The purpose of this research is to determine the future competitiveness and expansion potential of industries by evaluating the impact of technological convergence on innovation performance, which serves as a significant metric for assessing the sustainability of corporate innovation practices. Specifically, the relationships among three characteristics of technological convergence and enterprise innovation performance—betweenness, closeness, and clustering—are analyzed. Using the financial, property, and patent data of listed companies in China's automotive manufacturing industry, an empirical study is conducted using a negative binomial regression model. Enhancing all three technology convergence characteristics is found to be conducive to enhancing sustainable innovation. Meanwhile, the corporate knowledge base plays a mediating role in which the effect of knowledge base width on clustering technology integration is more strongly mediated by the effect of knowledge base depth on approaching technology integration. The results of this study are useful for policymakers, corporate strategists, and innovation managers who are looking to enhance sustainable innovation practices within their organizations. By understanding the critical roles of betweenness, closeness, and clustering in technological convergence, stakeholders can better position their firms to leverage these attributes for improved innovation performance and competitive advantage.

Abstract:The industrial sector is now undergoing digital revolution and upgrade, and it is of strategic significance to study how enterprise digitalization affects enterprise innovation. This paper develops a theoretical model of how digital transformation affects innovation in manufacturing enterprises, based on the resource-based view, network-embeddedness theory, and resource-complementarity theory. It then tests the mechanism and boundary conditions of the model, using data from a World Bank survey of Chinese enterprises. The study reveals how the degree of e-commerce embeddedness might partially mediate the effect of digital transformation on the innovation of manufacturing companies. Managerial human capital positively moderates the effect of digital transformation on manufacturing enterprises' independent-R&D investment and product-innovation output. Employee human capital significantly and positively moderates the effect of digital transformation on manufacturing enterprises' product-innovation output, while negatively moderating the effect of digital transformation on manufacturing enterprises' cooperative-R&D investment. The conclusions can expand the relevant theoretical research on digital transformation and enterprise innovation, and also provide practical enlightenment for the digital transformation and upgrading of manufacturing enterprises.
