Abstract:This paper focuses on a relation between the growth of harmonic functions and the Hausdorff measure of their zero sets. Let $u$ be a real-valued harmonic function in $\mathbb{R}^n$ with $u(0)=0$ and $n\geq 3$. We prove $$\mathcal{H}^{n-1}(\{u=0\} \cap B(0,2)) \gtrsim_{\varepsilon} N^{1-\varepsilon},$$ where the doubling index $N$ is a notion of growth defined by $$ \sup_{B(0, 1)}|u| = 2^N \sup_{B(0,\frac{1}{2})}|u|.$$ This gives an almost sharp lower bound for the Hausdorff measure of the zero set of $u$, which is conjectured to be linear in $N$. The new ingredients of the article are the notion of stable growth, and a multi-scale induction technique for a lower bound for the distribution of the doubling index of harmonic functions. It gives a significant improvement over the previous best-known bound $\mathcal{H}^{n-1}\left(\{u=0\} \cap 2B\right)\geq \exp (c \log N/\log\log N )$, which implied Nadirashvili's conjecture.

Abstract:In this paper, we are mainly concerned with $(\mathbb{G},\mu)$-harmonic functions that grow at most polynomially, where $\mathbb{G}$ is a finitely generated group with a probability measure $\mu$. In the initial part of the paper, we focus on Lipschitz harmonic functions and how they descend onto finite index subgroups. We discuss the relations between Lipschitz harmonic functions and harmonic functions of linear growth and conclude that for groups of polynomial growth, they coincide. In the latter part of the paper, we specialise to positive harmonic functions and give a characterisation for strong Liouville property in terms of the Green's function. We show that the existence of a non-constant positive harmonic function of polynomial growth guarantees that the group cannot have polynomial growth.

Abstract:Let $\alpha>-1$ and assume that $f$ is $\alpha-$harmonic mapping defined in the unit disk that belongs to the Hardy class $h^p$ with $p\ge 1$. We obtain some sharp estimates of the type $|f(z)|\le g(|r|) \|f^\ast\|_p$ and $|Df(z)|\le h(|r|)\|f^\ast\|_p$. We also prove a Schwarz type lemma for the class of $\alpha-$harmonic mappings of the unit disk onto itself fixing the origin.

Abstract:We give lower bounds for the growth of the number of Reeb chords and for the volume growth of Reeb flows on spherizations over closed manifolds M that are not of finite type, have virtually polycyclic fundamental group, and satisfy a mild assumption on the homology of the based loop space. For the special case of geodesic flows, these lower bounds are: (i) For any Riemannian metric on M, any pair of non-conjugate points p,q in M, and every component C of the space of paths from p to q, the number of geodesics in C of length at most T grows at least like e^{\sqrt T}. (ii) The exponent of the volume growth of any geodesic flow on M is at least 1/2. We obtain these results by combining new algebraic results on the growth of certain filtered Hopf algebras with known results on Floer homology.

Index estimates for sequences of harmonic maps

Abstract:In this paper we study upper and lower bounds of the index and the nullity for sequences of harmonic maps with uniformly bounded Dirichlet energy from a two-dimensional Riemann surface into a compact target manifold. The main difficulty stems from the fact that in the limit the sequence can develop finitely many bubbles. We obtain the index bounds by studying the limiting behavior of sequences of eigenfunctions of the linearized operator and the key novelty of the present paper is that we diagonalize the index form of the Dirichlet energy with respect to a bilinear form which varies with the sequence of harmonic maps and which helps us to show the convergence of the sequence of eigenfunctions on the weak limit, the bubbles and the intermediate neck regions.

Abstract:We consider harmonic functions of polynomial growth of some order d on Cayley graphs of discrete groups of polynomial volume growth of order D w.r.t. the word metric and prove the optimal estimate for the dimension of the space of such harmonic functions. More precisely, the dimension of this space of harmonic functions is at most of order d^D-1 . As in the already known Riemannian case, this estimate is polynomial in the growth degree. More generally, our techniques also apply to graphs roughly isometric to Cayley graphs of groups of polynomial volume growth.

Abstract:We study several fundamental harmonic analysis operators in the multi-dimensional context of the Dunkl harmonic oscillator and the underlying group of reflections isomorphic to $\mathbb{Z}_2^d$. Noteworthy, we admit negative values of the multiplicity functions. Our investigations include maximal operators, $g$-functions, Lusin area integrals, Riesz transforms and multipliers of Laplace and Laplace-Stieltjes type. By means of the general Calderón-Zygmund theory we prove that these operators are bounded on weighted $L^p$ spaces, $1 < p < \infty$, and from weighted $L^1$ to weighted weak $L^1$. We also obtain similar results for analogous set of operators in the closely related multi-dimensional Laguerre-symmetrized framework. The latter emerges from a symmetrization procedure proposed recently by the first two authors. As a by-product of the main developments we get some new results in the multi-dimensional Laguerre function setting of convolution type.

On Koebe radius and coefficients estimate for univalent harmonic mappings

Abstract:The problem on estimate of the Koebe radius for univalent harmonic mappings of the unit disk $\mathbb D=\{z\in\mathbb C : |z|<1\}$ is considered. For a subclass of harmonic mappings with the standard normalization and a certain growth estimate for analytic dilatation, we provide new estimate for the Koebe radius. New estimate for Taylor coefficients of the holomorphic part of a function from the subclass under consideration is obtained as a corollary.

Curvature Estimate of Nodal Sets of Harmonic Functions in the Plane

Abstract:In this paper, we study curvature estimates for nodal sets of harmonic functions in the plane. We prove that at any point $p$, the curvature of any nodal curve of a harmonic function $u$ is upper bounded by $$ \left\vert \kappa(u)(p)\right\vert\leq \frac{4(n+1)}{nr}, $$ where $u$ has only $n$ nodal curves in $B_r(p)$ intersecting at $p$. This result is sharp for odd $n$, and the extreme case can be given by Dirac measure and its derivatives. For even $n$, we prove there exists a smaller sharp upper bound. Moreover, we can prove the curvature of any nodal curve is upper bounded at every point in the nodal set of $u$ in a small neighborhood $B_{cr}(p)$, where $c<1$ depends only on $n$. Furthermore, with the tool of the frequency, we can prove the positive part and the negative part of $u$ have uniform lower bound, which depends only on the number of the nodal domains in $B_r(p)$.

Abstract:Analysis and Applications, Ahead of Print. The main focus of this contribution is on the harmonic Bergman spaces [math] on the [math]-homogeneous tree [math] endowed with a family of measures [math] that are constant on the horocycles tangent to a fixed boundary point and turn out to be doubling with respect to the corresponding horocyclic Gromov distance. A central role is played by the reproducing kernel Hilbert space [math] for which we find a natural orthonormal basis and formulae for the kernel. We also consider the atomic Hardy space and the bounded mean oscillation space. Appealing to an adaptation of Calderón–Zygmund theory and to standard boundedness results for integral operators on [math] spaces with Hörmander-type kernels, we determine the boundedness properties of the Bergman projection. Abstract:In a harmonically weighted Dirichlet space , where is a finitely supported discrete measure, Taylor polynomials of a function do not necessarily converge. We show that by properly modifying a fix number of final coefficients in Taylor polynomials of f , a new sequence is created which converges to f . The number of coefficients to be modified is at most equal to the cardinality of the support of , a fact which was first observed in (Mashreghi and Ransford in Complex Anal Synerg 7:1-11, 2021) for the special case of cardinality one. We also show that the n th modified polynomial can be interpreted as the orthogonal projection onto the subspace of polynomials of degree n under a suitable norm on .

Abstract:We obtain inequalities of the form $$\int_C |f(z)|^p |dz| \leq A(p) \int_{\mathbb{T}} |f(z)|^p |dz|, \quad (p>1)$$ where $f$ is harmonic in the unit disk $\mathbb{D}$, $\mathbb{T}$ is the unit circle, and $C$ is any convex curve in $\mathbb{D}$. Such inequalities were originally studied for analytic functions by R. M. Gabriel [Proc. London Math. Soc. 28(2), 1928]. We show that these results, unlike in the case of analytic functions, cannot be true in general for $0< p \le 1$. Therefore, we produce an inequality of a slightly different type, which deals with the case $0<p<1$. An example is given to show that this result is "best possible", in the sense that an extension to $p=1$ fails. Then we consider the special case when $C$ is a circle, and prove a refined result which surprisingly holds for $p=1$ as well. We conclude with a maximal theorem which has potential applications.

Abstract:We derive a Harnack inequality for positive solutions of the f-heat equation and Gaussian upper and lower bound estimates for the f-heat kernel on complete smooth metric measure spaces with Bakry–Émery Ricci curvature bounded below. Both upper and lower bound estimates are sharp when the Bakry–Émery Ricci curvature is nonnegative. The main argument is the De Giorgi–Nash–Moser theory. As applications, we prove an $L_f^1$-Liouville theorem for f-subharmonic functions and an $L_f^1$-uniqueness theorem for f-heat equations when f has at most linear growth. We also obtain eigenvalues estimates and f-Green’s function estimates for the f-Laplace operator.
Hölder regularity of harmonic functions on metric measure spaces

Abstract:We introduce the Hölder regularity condition for harmonic functions on metric measure spaces and prove that under mild volume regular condition and upper heat kernel estimate, the Hölder regularity condition, the weak Bakry-Émery non-negative curvature condition, the heat kernel Hölder continuity with or without exponential terms and the heat kernel near-diagonal lower bound are equivalent. As applications, firstly, we prove the validity of the so-called generalized reverse Hölder inequality on the Sierpiński carpet cable system, which was left open by Devyver, Russ, Yang (Int. Math. Res. Not. IMRN (2023), no. 18, 15537-15583). Secondly, we prove that two-sided heat kernel estimates alone imply gradient estimate for the heat kernel on strongly recurrent fractal-like cable systems, which improves the main results of the aforementioned paper. Thirdly, we obtain Hölder (Lipschitz) estimate for heat kernel on general metric measure spaces, which extends the classical Li-Yau gradient estimate for heat kernel on Riemannian manifolds.

Abstract:We introduce the space of holomorphic growth spaces with values in a Banach lattice. We provide norm and essential norm estimates of the embedding operator, and we completely characterize the bounded and compact embeddings of the growth spaces using vector-valued Carleson measures. As an application, we prove a characterization of weighted composition operators.

Harmonic functions on finitely-connected tori

Abstract:In this paper, we prove a Logarithmic Conjugation Theorem on finitely-connected tori. The theorem states that a harmonic function can be written as the real part of a function whose derivative is analytic and a finite sum of terms involving the logarithm of the modulus of a modified Weierstrass sigma function. We implement the method using arbitrary precision and use the result to find approximate solutions to the Laplace problem and Steklov eigenvalue problem. Using a posteriori estimation, we show that the solution of the Laplace problem on a torus with a few circular holes has error less than $10^{-100}$ using a few hundred degrees of freedom and the Steklov eigenvalues have similar error.
