Abstract:With the rapid development of informational technology,business model has become the common focus in both theory and practice.Many enterprises have obtained generous returns through business model innovation.Scholars also have found that business model innovation could help an enterprise improve its performance,and obtain sustainable competitive advantage.However,the existing research has paid little attention to the antecedent variables of business model innovation.Meanwhile,the important role of innovation for enterprise's sustainable development has obtained the general agreement.Different enterprise innovation types may lead to varying innovation output results.Innovation type choices are the key factor for deciding whether enterprises could maintain sustainable competitive advantages.Innovation type choices also affect business model innovation.However,the existing studies on the relationship between enterprise innovation type choices and business model innovation are mostly theoretical analysis.China lacks of empirical studies with innovation practice data.It is challenging to guide the innovation type choices of enterprise innovation practices.This paper mainly investigates the impact of enterprise innovation type choices on different business model innovations.Based on organizational ambidexterity theory,we distinguish five different innovation types:incremental innovation,radical innovation,diverseness innovation,integrated innovation,and interactive innovation.On the basis of the related literature,we construct a theoretical model based on theoretical analysis,and propose hypotheses.We also empirically analyze the survey data of the bio pharmacy and electronic information.The results show that in addition to interactive innovation,the other innovation types are all beneficial to the promotion of efficiency-centered business model innovations.For radical innovation,diverseness innovation and interactive innovation have significant positive relationships with novelty-centered business model innovation.Through this research,it is helpful to expand the scope of organizational ambidexterity theory in the study of incremental innovation and radical innovation by examining diverseness innovation,integrated innovation,and interactive innovation.Understanding more enterprise innovation type choices can enhance the racticality and universality in the innovation type research field.In practice,this paper could help understand the relationship between innovation type choices and business model innovation,and guide the process of developing new business models.
