Abstract:Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) is an indicator that reflects the level of glucose in the blood over the past 1-3 months. The main indications for its use are as follows: control of the course of diabetes mellitus (once in 3 months), control of the effectiveness of diabetes treatment, an indicator of the risk of developing complications of diabetes mellitus. The study of HbA1c allows evaluating the level of glycemia in a diabetes mellitus patient 60-90 days prior to the study. The study makes it possible to monitor the course of the disease and control the adequacy of the treatment. The study of HbA1c should be carried out to assess the risk of complications in a patient with diabetes mellitus.
