Abstract:The purpose of the article is to analyse the challenges, opportunities and prospects of using augmented reality (AR) technologies in the educational process in order to identify the factors that influence their successful implementation and development. Research methods. Systematisation, abstraction and concretisation, clarification of cause-and-effect relationships, as well as the search method (search in the available methodological and scientific literature and analysis of the material found) were used. The scientific novelty lies in the systematic analysis of the challenges, opportunities and prospects for the use of augmented reality (AR) technologies in education, taking into account current trends and potential prospects for the development of this area. The article makes a significant contribution to the enrichment of scientific discourse through a well-grounded analysis of the factors influencing the effective implementation of AR in the educational process and the identification of ways to further develop this area. Conclusions. This article discusses the impact of augmented reality (AR) technologies on the educational process. The use of AR in education can significantly improve the way knowledge is transferred by providing students with a unique combined interactive experience. The article analyses the research that has examined the role of AR in higher education, as well as various aspects of the use of this technology in educational institutions. The research has shown that AR can be useful for students with different educational needs and contribute to their equal access to education. The methods of using AR to visualise complex material, promote interactivity and increase learning efficiency are analysed. The introduction of augmented reality (Augment) applications is seen as an innovative tool for creating interactive lessons, and virtual textbooks and facilitating project activities. This article highlights the potential of AR to improve the quality of learning and stimulate student engagement in the educational process. The article also discusses the impact of AR technologies on the methods of collaboration in the educational process. It is noted that AR increases the activity and independence of students, stimulating their cooperation with the teacher in the learning process. The importance of this approach for deep learning and development of critical thinking is emphasised. In addition, the advantages of using AR in the educational process, such as virtual classes, safety and concentration, as well as the challenges facing the implementation of this technology are considered. The paper highlights the potential of AR to improve collaboration methods in the educational process and identifies areas for further research in this area. The conclusions of the paper indicate the potential of AR to improve learning efficiency and increase students’ interest in education, but at the same time emphasise the need for further research in this area for the successful implementation and integration of AR into the educational process.
