Superior ESG performance enhances a company's reputation and gains the trust of customers, employees, and investors, giving the company a competitive edge. ESG research guides companies to develop sustainable strategies that focus on long-term benefits, achieving a balance between environmental protection and profitability. This paper focuses on the impact of ESG on enterprise value, offering a new perspective for investors and management. The study examines A-share listed companies from 2020 to 2022, using Tobin's Q to evaluate enterprise value and the ESG evaluation system to measure performance in environmental, social, and governance dimensions. It also considers control variables for data analysis. Based on the conclusions, the paper suggests strategies to improve corporate regulation, promoting healthier development.

Abstract:This study is committed to a thorough examination of the significant effects that environmental, social, and governance (ESG) dimensions have on the worth of businesses. Additionally, obtaining ESG certification holds considerable importance for the valuation of companies. Enterprises certified by the authority ESG can not only prove that they have a high standard and level in ESG, but also improve their brand image and credibility, thus attracting more partners and investors. To grasp the intricacies and significance of this matter fully, it begins with a foundational theoretical approach, delving into the obstacles and dilemmas companies encounter throughout their routine business activities. It also further discusses and studies how ESG performance affects enterprise value. Through the analysis of a large number of data and cases, it is found that those enterprises that actively disclose ESG information can often gain more trust and support from investors, thus improving the market value and position of enterprises. Finally, it finds that although ESG has a positive impact on the stock price of enterprises, it is actually relatively slight, and investors prefer enterprises with better operating conditions in terms of investment choices.

Abstract:In the context of China's green development transformation and high-quality development, it is of great significance to actively promote enterprises to practice the concept of ESG development. In order to study the impact of ESG on enterprise value, this paper empirically examines the impact of ESG performance on enterprise value and its mechanism of action, taking listed companies of enterprises from 2013 to 2023 as the research sample. The research results show that ESG performance can significantly increase enterprise value. The study of the mechanism of action shows that corporate ESG enhances corporate value through digital transformation, promoting corporate innovation, and enhancing financial asset allocation. Heterogeneity analyses find that the positive effect of ESG on firm value shows differences among different types of firms, especially among state-owned enterprises and high-tech firms, where the positive effect of ESG performance on firm value is more significant. The research in this paper enriches the impact of ESG on enterprise value, which is of theoretical and practical significance for enterprises, investors and government to complete.

Abstract:ESG, as an increasingly important evaluation indicator for today's enterprises, is being widely used. This article aims to study the relationship between ESG performance in the energy industry and stock value. This article takes the data of energy companies listed in the Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share markets from 2015 to 2022 as samples, controls for two variables: energy type and industry profitability, and uses the P/E ratio estimation method for analysis. Research has found that energy companies with environmental friendliness, high social reputation, and good management practices have higher stock prices, making them more likely to be favored by investors. The relevant research in this article can effectively help investors optimize their decision-making by analyzing the ESG situation when choosing the energy industry. At the same time, this study can provide some development insights for new and traditional energy enterprises.

Abstract:Clarifying the impact of enterprise ESG performance on enterprise value from multiple perspectives plays an important role in promoting the development of new quality productivity. This article is based on data from Chinese listed companies from 2013 to 2022, and from the perspective of corporate governance, examines the intrinsic relationship between corporate ESG performance and corporate value generation. Using the first type of agency cost as an intermediate variable, it analyzes the impact path of "ESG performance corporate governance corporate value". The results indicate a significant positive correlation between corporate ESG practice performance and corporate value. There is a significant negative correlation between corporate ESG practice performance and agency costs; The improvement of ESG practice performance can enhance enterprise value by reducing agency costs. The study provides empirical evidence for the positive impact of ESG practices on corporate value for Chinese listed companies, increasing the attention of enterprises, investors, and governments to ESG, and encouraging enterprises to achieve the goal of enhancing corporate value through participation in ESG practices and other means.

Abstract:ESG (environmental, social, and governance) performance increasingly influences enterprise valuation. While researchers debate about the precise nature of this influence, most assume a positive linear relationship. This study introduces a novel ESG responsibility performance metric utilizing a regulated intermediary model using representative data synthesized from leading ESG rating agencies in China. It investigates the pathways of this influence and examines the mediating effects of corporate reputation, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory compliance. The findings reveal an inverted U-shaped relationship between ESG performance and enterprise value, moderated significantly by financing constraints. These findings remain robust after accounting for potential endogeneity using instrumental variables. Heterogeneity analysis highlights that this inverted U-shaped relationship depends on the industry characteristics and ownership structures, particularly noticeable in non-polluting and non-state-owned enterprises. Moreover, enhanced ESG performance correlates with a reduced cost of equity financing, thereby augmenting enterprise value. Financial institutions might consider employing innovative financial instruments to diversify their enterprise financing channels and effectively bolster ESG-focused enterprises.

Abstract:Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) is an important criterion for evaluating non-financial indicators of firm performance, offering substantial support for advancing green transformation. This paper examines the impact of ESG performance on enterprise value using data from 3139 Chinese A-listed companies spanning from 2010 to 2021. The results demonstrate that enhancing ESG performance significantly boosts enterprise value. Additionally, ESG initiatives can alleviate corporate financing constraints and stimulate green innovation, consequently driving enterprise value. Furthermore, the positive effect of ESG on enterprise value is more pronounced for non-state-owned enterprises, low-polluting enterprises, and small-scale enterprises. These findings deepen our understanding of how ESG influences enterprise value within the context of the dual-carbon goal, offering theoretical backing for companies and investors to bolster ESG management practices and aiding government efforts to enhance ESG macro guidance.

Abstract:With the improvement of the Chinese capital market in terms of regulation system and overall maturity, the significance of the ESG concept to the capital market has been rising accordingly, becoming an important source of corporate signals. In this context, ESG value investment has gradually received attention from academia and the market and a lot of discussions have been conducted on ESG and corporate value, but there are still many differences in the research on the relationship and mechanism of the two. The academic argument of ESG governance's function has been reflected in the capital market that most Chinese listed companies neglected ESG governance, and less than a quarter of them have made the disclosure on this basis. Hence, In context to this background, this paper explores the correlation between ESG performance and enterprise value as well as explains the mechanism of this effect by constructing a multiple linear regression model with sample companies from the A-share capital market. It is found that ESG performance is significantly and positively correlated with enterprise value, for every 1% increase in ESG performance, enterprise value will increase by 7.2% on average. This correlation also has been proved by this paper that can be explained by the contribution of better economic performance and a financing environment led by good ESG performance.

Abstract:Environmental information disclosure is a concrete practice for enterprises to actively implement the concept of green and sustainable development, which has great significance for enterprises to gain long-term competitive advantages. The academic world has widely discussed the relationship between environmental information disclosure and the economic performance of enterprises, but how the heterogeneity of environmental information disclosure methods affects the enterprise value has not been explored. This paper aims to answer two questions: (1) what is the impact of Ecomark and ESG on enterprise value? and (2) how does the interaction between Ecomark and ESG influence enterprise value? Utilizing the listed Japanese electrical equipment manufacturing enterprises dataset from 2008 to 2021, we employed the fixed panel linear regression model to confirm the relationship between Ecomark and ESG in enterprise value, and further used a moderating effect model to verify the existence of the crowd-out effect of ESG performance on Ecomark through enterprise value. In addition, a robustness check scheme was designed and performed to test the model settings, outliers and endogeneity issues. The main findings show that the obtaining of Ecomark certification and good ESG performance can help to improve enterprise value, but they may be altered regarding the heterogeneity of environmental information disclosure methods, further causing differences in enterprises’ time and economic cost burdens. Such differences increase the attractiveness of ESGs to investors, thereby crowding out the impact of Ecomark on enterprise value. Our conclusion reveals the mechanism of the heterogeneity of environmental information disclosure methods towards enterprise value, which offers a valuable reference for investors to evaluate enterprise value and paves the way for enterprise decision-makers and authorities to optimize their environmental information disclosure.

Abstract:ESG has gradually become a concern for firms, shareholders and stakeholder groups. ESG considerations have become increasingly important for firms, shareholders, and stakeholder groups. This article explores the impact of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors on a company's valuation, by first highlighting the growing importance of sustainability reporting and ESG considerations for investors. Four main points are concluded throughout the article. Studies conducted in various countries, such as Korea, Malaysia, and China, have consistently demonstrated a positive correlation between ESG ratings and a company's value and profitability. By prioritizing ESG performance, companies can reduce their exposure to compliance risks, thereby improving risk management and consistency. Long-term ESG investment can enhance shareholder value by boosting financial performance and mitigating risks associated with climate change and social responsibility. Additionally, ESG strategies can help companies build a strong reputation and foster consumer loyalty, as they address risks related to climate change and societal expectations regarding social responsibility.

Abstract:In recent years, the concept of ESG has aroused the attention of all walks of life. Coupled with the tendency of policy in the field of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, ESG disclosure of enterprises has a significant impact on enterprise development. In this paper, the Wind ESG rating index is used, and five automobile companies, BYD, Geely Automobile, Dongfeng Automobile, Changan Automobile and SAIC Motor, are selected as representatives. The impact of ESG performance on enterprise value is tested by case analysis and Wind ESG disclosure rating. It is found that good corporate ESG performance can improve corporate strength and value from environmental protection, corporate social governance and other aspects. The analysis shows that better ESG performance can affect the market value by adjusting accounting profit to reduce carbon emissions and so on, thereby improving the enterprise value. Further analysis shows that the index disclosed in the evaluation of ESG indicators of enterprises can also have a reverse effect on enterprises, and thus significantly improve the long-term ESG performance of enterprises. The results of this study are helpful for investors to better understand the development prospects of enterprises. At the same time, they are helpful for enterprises to promote ESG practice and disclosure, further promote the development of enterprises, improve performance and market competitiveness, and promote enterprises to embark on the path of sustainable development.

Abstract:ESG as a concept advocates companies to pay more attention to environmental friendliness, social responsibility and corporate governance in their development process. Companies can attract investment and enhance their competitiveness by developing ESG concepts. Based on the data of Chinese listed companies for five years from 2017 to 2021, relevant indicators are constructed, and regression analysis is conducted on them using static panel models to empirically investigate the impact of ESG performance on corporate value. Specifically, this study documents a significant positive relationship between ESG performance and corporate value. The results still largely hold after a robustness checks, including alterative measure of corporate value. This study contributes to the existing literature on the economic consequences of ESG and provides implications for both researchers, investors, and practitioners.

Abstract:Contemporarily, ESG has become a hot topic, where more and more investors are aware of the importance of ESG and pay more attention to a company's performance in ESG when making investment decisions. As a result, companies are paying attention to improving their ESG performance, and many researches have shown that there is a relationship between ESG ratings of companies and the valuation of companies. This paper selects Industry Bank as a case study based on the results of MSCI's ESG rating as a measure of ESG performance. In addition, data from the company's annual report as well as investing.com and bloomberg.com is obtained to calculate various aspects of the company's indicators. In terms of the data, this paper analyzes and compares changes in Industry Bank's corporate value and performance before and after the change in ESG rating in 2019. This paper explores the relationship between ESG ratings and company valuation through specific case study, remedying the shortcomings of related studies that only stay at the theoretical level. Besides, these results explore the practical significance of ESG ratings which shed light on further study.

A large amount of capital enters the market, and people’s cognition and demand for investment are becoming more and more urgent. The retail industry has developed in the market for a long time and is relatively mature. Therefore, the value of many retail enterprises is suitable to be evaluated by the Discount of Cash Flow (DCF) model, so as to provide investors with a more complete investment plan. As one of the most creative retail enterprises in the world, Company A is in good condition and has sustainable operation ability. This paper analyzes the application of the DCF model in enterprise value assessment. The author uses the ﬁnancial statements of Company A over the years to estimate the free cash ﬂow in the next few years, and the intrinsic value of the company in the next few years can be obtained.
