Abstract:Although there are various opinions in the literature, Generation Z is generally considered to be the young people born after 2000. Because this age group grew up among internet and social media platforms, they can be truly called "digital natives". Influencers have also emerged with the development of social media tools and can be described as opinion leaders in consumption to some extent. Research shows that there is significant closeness between Generation Z and influencers. For example, a significant portion of Generation Z, about 78%, makes life and consumption choices through influencers. Additionally, another study shows that Generation Z spends about 82% of their life watching videos on social media platforms. These high rates are considered a significant indicator of how open this age group is to social media influence. Culture and religion constitute the fundamental dynamics of human social life. Especially during adolescence, individuals will be in search of themselves, so they should be under the right influences and guided correctly. Social media, where popular culture is created and strengthened, religious issues are discussed, and people share their preferences openly, is a tool that directly affects young people today. Therefore, during adolescence, Generation Z is more under the influence of social media tools than family, values, religion, and cultural education. In light of all this information, the aim of this research is to investigate the effects of the intense influencer interaction created by Generation Z through social media tools on religious and cultural values. The importance of this research is to deepen the social understanding of the effect of the interaction of the Z Generation and the influencer on religious and cultural values and to develop a perspective on the subject. Therefore, considering that they are the generation of the future, the data obtained in the study is considered important in terms of providing a perspective on the position of this age group against religious and cultural values. The method of the research is in-depth interview. In-depth interviews were conducted with 15 generation Z members who actively use social media and follow influencers, and data were collected. According to the results of the research, the interviewees in this age group clearly stated that the opinions of influencers are important to them. The interviewees also revealed that the influencers made posts far from religious and cultural values. Following non-Turkish influencers, especially in this age group, causes them to be estranged from their own culture and religion and to admire foreign religions and cultures. As a result, it is possible to say that the Z generation, who follows influencers and uses social media actively, moved away from religious and cultural values and approached their lives within the framework of non-religious and popular culture elements.
