Abstract:The inverse problem of determination of x-dependent coefficient a(x) at u and the kernel k(t) functions in the one-dimensional integro–differential parabolic equation is investigated. The direct problem is the initial-boundary problem for this equation. Firstly, we studied the solvability of the direct problem, by used to the Fourier method and approximation series methods. As additional information for solving inverse problem, the solution of the direct problem by over determining condition is given. The problem is reduced to an equivalent closed system of Volterra-type integral equations with respect to unknown functions. Applying the method of contraction mappings to this system in the continuous class of functions, we prove the main result of the article, which is a local existence and uniqueness theorem of inverse problem solution.

Abstract:An inverse problem is considered, which consists in finding a solution and a one-dimensional kernel of the integral term of an inhomogeneous integro-differential equation of hyperbolic type from the conditions that make up the direct problem and some additional condition. First, the direct problem is investigated, while the kernel of the integral term is assumed to be known. By integrating over the characteristics, the given intego-differential equation is reduced to a Volterra integral equation of the second kind and is solved by the method of successive approximations. Further, using additional information about the solution of the direct problem, we obtain an integral equation with respect to the kernel of the integral k(t), of the integral term. Thus, the problem is reduced to solving a system of integral equations of the Volterra type of the second kind. The resulting system is written as an operator equation. To prove the global, unique solvability of this problem, the method of contraction mappings in the space of continuous functions with weighted norms is used. And also the theorem of conditional stability of the solution of the inverse problem is proved, while the method of estimating integrals and Gronoullo’s inequality is used.

Abstract:The inverse problem of determining a multidimensional kernel of an integral term depending on a time variable $t$ and $ (n-1)$-dimensional spatial variable $x'=\left(x_1,\ldots, x_ {n-1}\right)$ in the $n$-dimensional heat equation with a variable coefficient of thermal conductivity is investigated. The direct problem is the Cauchy problem for this equation. The integral term has the time convolution form of kernel and direct problem solution. As additional information for solving the inverse problem, the solution of the direct problem on the hyperplane $x_n = 0$ is given. At the beginning, the properties of the solution to the direct problem are studied. For this, the problem is reduced to solving an integral equation of the second kind of Volterra-type and the method of successive approximations is applied to it. Further the stated inverse problem is reduced to two auxiliary problems, in the second one of them an unknown kernel is included in an additional condition outside integral. Then the auxiliary problems are replaced by an equivalent closed system of Volterra-type integral equations with respect to unknown functions. Applying the method of contraction mappings to this system in the Hölder class of functions, we prove the main result of the article, which is a local existence and uniqueness theorem of the inverse problem solution.

Abstract:The inverse problems of determining the energy–temperature relation α(t) and the heat conduction relation k(t) functions in the one‐dimensional integro‐differential heat equation are investigated. The direct problem is the initial‐boundary problem for this equation. The integral terms have the time convolution form of unknown kernels and direct problem solution. As additional information for solving inverse problems, the solution of the direct problem for x = x0 is given. At the beginning, an auxiliary problem, which is equivalent to the original problem, is introduced. Then the auxiliary problem is reduced to an equivalent closed system of Volterra‐type integral equations with respect to unknown functions. Applying the method of contraction mappings to this system in the continuous class of functions with weighted norms, we prove the main result of the article, which is a global existence and uniqueness theorem of inverse problem solutions.

The main tool used in our considerations is Dzhumabaev parametrization method. We make use of the numerical implementation of the Dzhumabaev parametrization method to obtain the desired result, which is well-supported with numerical examples.

Abstract:This work considers the Galerkin approximation and analysis for a hyperbolic integrodifferential equation, where the non-positive variable-sign kernel and nonlinear-nonlocal damping with both the weak and viscous damping effects are involved. We derive the long-time stability of the solution and its finite-time uniqueness. For the semi-discrete-in-space Galerkin scheme, we derive the long-time stability of the semi-discrete numerical solution and its finite-time error estimate by technical splitting of intricate terms. Then we further apply the centering difference method and the interpolating quadrature to construct a fully discrete Galerkin scheme and prove the long-time stability of the numerical solution and its finite-time error estimate by designing a new semi-norm. Numerical experiments are performed to verify the theoretical findings.

Abstract:Direct and inverse problems for a model equation of mixed parabolic-hyperbolic type are studied. In the direct problem, we consider a Tricomi-type problem for this equation with a noncharacteristic line of type change. The unknowns of the inverse problem are the variable coefficients of the lower-order terms in the equation. To determine these coefficients, an integral overdetermination condition is specified relative to the solution defined in the parabolic part of the domain, and in the hyperbolic part, conditions are specified on the characteristics: on one characteristic it is the value of the normal derivative and on the other, the value of the function itself. Theorems for the unique solvability of the posed problems in the sense of classical solution are proved.

Abstract:We discuss an integral equation of first kind which arises from an inverse problem for detecting steel reinforcement bars.Since the kernel of this integral equation is analytic, our problem is severely ill-posed.We transform the problem for this integral equation into a Cauchy problem for Laplace's equation.By using the conditional estimation of the Cauchy problem for the elliptic operator, we prove that, under suitable hypotheses, a logarithmic stabilizing estimation holds for the solution of the integral equation.In addition, this method can be used to determine discontinuous points of the solution of the integral equation. Introduction. In [3],Engl and Isakov discuss an inverse problem for detecting steel reinforcement bars inside of concrete.Under suitable hypotheses, they transform the problem into a first kind integral equation with analytic kernel and prove the uniqueness of the solution of the integral equation.From the theory of integral operators, we know this integral equation is a severely ill-posed problem, since the singular values of the integral operator decrease rapidly, e.g., [5,13].This kind of integral equation is also proposed in geophysics, e.g., Ramm [9,10].The same integral equation is discussed by Lavrent'ev [6], Bukhgeim [1] and Serikbaev [11].In this paper, we transform the integral equation into a Cauchy problem for Laplace's equation, which has been studied extensively.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to study the existence of solutions for a class of measure differential equations –abbreviated, MDEs– with a general nonlocal condition. Specifically, by a general nonlocal condition we understand a nonlocal condition modeled in terms of a multivalued map. We distinguish two cases, problems formulated in finite and infinite dimensional Banach spaces. In the first case, we formulate the problem in the context of Kurzweil-Stieltjes integrals, while for the second case we consider a Lebesgue-Stieltjes integral form. Our results are based on the fixed point theorems of Krasnoselskii and condensing multivalued maps.

Abstract:The integro-differential equation with the Cauchy kernel is used in many different technical problems, such as in circuit analysis or gas infrared radiation studies. Therefore, it is important to be able to solve this type of equation, even in an approximate way. This article compares two approaches for solving this type of equation. One of the considered methods is based on the application of the differential Taylor series, while the second approach uses selected heuristic algorithms inspired by the behavior of animals. Due to the problem domain, which is symmetric, and taking into account the form of the function appearing in this equation, we can use this symmetry in some cases. The paper also presents numerical examples illustrating how each method works and comparing the discussed approaches.

Abstract:We establish Hölder and Harnack estimates for weak solutions of a class of elliptic nonlocal equations that are modeled on integro-differential operators with kernels of measure. The approach is of De Giorgi-type, as developed by DiBenedetto, Gianazza and Vespri in a local setting. Our results generalize the work by Dyda and Kassmann (2020).

Abstract:A solution strategy, called generalized integral equation method, is proposed to solve nonlocal problems can be taken as specific instances. By extracting the main ingredients of integral equation method, we develop a generalized integral equation method in an abstract operator framework. As a matter of fact, the classic integral equation method for continuous local partial differential equations can be categorized into this framework. The key ingredient of the proposed method is to derive the generalized boundary integral equations, which can be coupled appropriately with the interior operator equation to obtain a reduced problem. We prove that the resulting system is well-posed by showing that it admits an equivalent formulation with strong coercivity, and the solution of the reduced problem is the same as that of the original one. The proposed method is applied to a nonlocal equation in two-dimensional space discretized by an asymptotically compatible scheme. Numerical experiments validate the effectiveness.

Abstract:A nonlinear integral equation arising from a parametric closure of the third spatial moment in the single-species model of logistic dynamics of U. Dieckmann and R. Law is analyzed. The case of piecewise constant kernels is studied, which is important for further computer modeling. Sufficient conditions are found that guarantee the existence of a nontrivial solution to the equilibrium equation. The use of constant kernels makes it possible to obtain more accurate results compared to earlier works, in particular, more accurate estimates for the L 1 norm of the solution and for the closure parameter are obtained.

Abstract:The paper deals with the explicit calculus and the properties of the fundamental solution K of a parabolic operator related to a semilinear equation that models reaction diffusion systems with excitable kinetics. The initial value problem in all of the space is analyzed together with continuous dependence and a priori estimates of the solution. These estimates show that the asymptotic behavior is determined by the reaction mechanism. Moreover it's possible a rigorous singular perturbation analysis for discussing travelling waves with their characteristic times.

Abstract:In the present article we investigate a boundary problem with non-local conditions for mixed parabolic-hyperbolic type equation with three lines of type changing. Considered mixed domain contains a rectangle as a parabolic part and three domains bounded by smooth curves and by type-changing lines as a hyperbolic part of the mixed domain. We prove the uniqueness applying energy integral method. The proof of the existence will be done by reducing the original problem into the system of the second kind Volterra integral equations.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a finite element method for solving viscoelastic hyperbolic integrodifferential equations with L 1 kernel, involving a nonlocal and nonlinear damped coefficient. Firstly, we discuss and deduce that the L 1 kernel is of positive type in two cases. Subsequently, based on the continuous Galerkin technique and the energy argument, we prove the global existence and uniqueness of the discrete solution. Finally, using the basic properties of the positive-type kernel, we derive the error estimates of the finite element solutions.

Abstract:We are concerned with the polynomial stability and the integrability of the energy for second order integro-differential equations in Hilbert spaces with positive definite kernels, where the memory can be oscillating or sign-varying or not locally absolutely continuous (without any control conditions on the derivative of the kernel). For this stability problem, tools from the theory of existing positive definite kernels can not be applied. In order to solve the problem, we introduce and study a new mathematical concept – generalized positive definite kernel (GPDK). With the help of GPDK and its properties, we obtain an efficient criterion of the polynomial stability for evolution equations with such a general but more complicated and useful memory. Moreover, in contrast to existing positive definite kernels, GPDK allows us to directly express the decay rate of the related kernel.

Abstract:This paper analyses a Kirchhoff type quasilinear space-time fractional integro-differential equation with memory $(\mathcal{K}^{s}_{\alpha})$. Various a priori bounds are derived in different norms on the solution of the considered equation. Utilizing these a priori bounds, existence and uniqueness of the weak solution to the proposed model are proved. Furthermore, regularity results on the solution of $(\mathcal{K}^{s}_{\alpha})$ are established. The contribution made in this work provides a framework for further investigation of such types of partial integro-differential equation $(\mathcal{K}^{s}_{\alpha})$.
