Abstract:Background: Ovarian cancer (OC), a common malignant tumor of the female reproductive system, has the highest mortality rate among gynecologic cancers. Female patients often experience negative emotions such as anxiety and depression due to sex hormone disorders, fear of cancer, and unfamiliarity with the hospital environment. This study aimed to elucidate the risk factors of negative emotions in the perioperative period of OC patients and their effect on prognosis to provide a reference basis for improving patients' prognosis.Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of 258 patients with OC at our hospital between August 2014 and December 2019. The t-test and chi-square test were used to analyze the relationship between patients' negative emotions and prognosis. Binary logistic regression was used to analyze the independent risk factors for the occurrence of negative emotions and poor prognosis in patients.Results: Binary logistic regression analysis showed that young age, low monthly household income, low education, no children, lymph node metastasis, postoperative chemotherapy, time to postoperative bowel function recovery ≥24 hours, and the presence of postoperative complications such as irregular bleeding and pressure sores were independent risk factors for negative emotions in patients. Furthermore, negative emotions were found to be an important independent risk factor for patients' prognosis. In patients with negative emotions, the survival rate at 2 and 3 years after surgery was significantly lower compared with patients without negative emotions, and the recurrence rate at 3 years after surgery was significantly higher than in patients without negative emotions.Conclusions: In the perioperative period of OC, patients are prone to anxiety, depression, and other psychological disorders, which seriously affect the treatment effect. Therefore, in clinical work, patients' negative emotions should be predicted as early as possible, and active communication with patients and timely psychological counseling should be provided. Improve surgical accuracy and reduce the complication rate.

Abstract:Background: Esophageal cancer has a high incidence in China. Many patients also have a heavy psychological burden due to clinical features such as wasting and choking on food. This study analyzed the risk factors of negative emotions in esophageal cancer patients during the peri-radiotherapy period and its effects on malnutrition. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 339 patients with esophageal cancer during the peri-radiotherapy who received treatment at our hospital from April 2017 to April 2020, and followed up for 3 years. t test and Chi-square test were used to analyze the relationship between patients' negative emotions and clinical data. Binary logistics regression was performed to analyze the independent risk factors for the occurrence of negative mood and malnutrition in the patients. Kaplan-Meier survival curves were used to analyze survival rates. Results: Our results showed that 18.3% of patients undergoing radiotherapy for esophageal cancer had negative emotions, and 41.9% suffered from malnutrition. The results of the binary logistic regression analysis showed that monthly household income (OR = 0.470, P = 0.022), the TNM stage (OR = 2.030, P = 0.044), concomitant gastrointestinal symptoms (OR = 2.071, P = 0.024), sleep status (OR = 2.540, P = 0.003), swallowing disorders (OR = 1.919, P = 0.048), and post-radiotherapy complications were independent risk factors for the development of negative emotions in patients. Negative emotions (OR = 2.547, P = 0.038) were also a risk factor for malnutrition in patients with esophageal cancer. Conclusion: Many patients with esophageal cancer suffer from anxiety and depression in the peri-radiotherapy period, which might lead to complications such as malnutrition or aggravate and affect the prognosis of patients. Therefore, psychological care should be provided based on conventional care to effectively relieve their psychological pressure, and improve their prognosis and quality of life.

Abstract:In recent years, epidemiological survey data have shown that lung cancer is the tumor with the fastest increase in cancer incidence and mortality in China. The incidence and mortality of lung cancer in China rank first among tumors, and 80% of patients die within one year of diagnosis. This paper aims to study the evaluation of lung cancer patients from three aspects of emotion, coping style, and Quality of Life (QoL), expounding on the changes in emotion, coping style, and QoL in lung cancer patients after chemotherapy. We assess the negative emotions and survival of lung cancer patients after chemotherapy quality satisfaction survey research. We investigate the general data, QoL, and coping styles of 219 lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy before, during, and after chemotherapy based on the artificial intelligence processor. All survey data are input into SPSS 19 for descriptive and relevant statistical analysis. The experimental results show that under a survey of 219 lung cancer chemotherapy patients with negative emotions and QoL satisfaction after chemotherapy, at a significance level of = 0.05, there is a linear regression relationship between mental resilience and anxiety and depression.

Risk Factors of Perinatal Negative Mood and Its Influence on Prognosis: A Retrospective Cohort Study

Abstract:Background: Maternal anxiety or depression in the perinatal period has a high prevalence. The negative emotion during the puerpera is unfavorable to the process of childbirth and also affects the recovery and the quality of life in postpartum patients significantly. The present study aimed to elucidate the risk factors of negative emotion in perinatal women and its influence on prognosis to provide a reference for improving maternal prognosis. Methods: Initially, 350 expectant mothers were randomly enrolled in the present study between August 2021 and August 2022. Among these, after applying the established inclusion and exclusion criteria, 314 patients were eventually selected. The independent risk factors of negative emotion and poor prognosis were analyzed through binary logistics regression and multiple linear regression. Follow-up was conducted via telephone, email, and a follow-up visit one month after discharge. Results: Among the included patients, 18 (5.7%) had prenatal anxiety, 16 (5.1%) had prenatal depression, 31 (9.9%) had postnatal anxiety, and 28 (8.9%) had postnatal depression. Perinatal negative emotional risk factors include age, marital relationship, regular prenatal examination, E2 level, 5-HT level before and after delivery, family monthly income, neonatal health, breastfeeding time, intrapartum hemorrhage, constipation and other complications. The development of postpartum negative emotions is a risk factor for maternal prognosis. Conclusion: The results showed that the risk factors of perinatal depression and anxiety were complex. In order to improve the quality of life of pregnant women, maintain their long-term emotional stability, and promote their postpartum recovery, it may be considered to promote the use of screening tools to identify women at risk of anxiety and depression before and after delivery, and timely psychological counseling for patients with high risk factors to promote their mental health.
Risk Factors for Negative Emotions in Patients Undergoing Radical Resection of Hilar Cholangiocarcinoma and Their Influence on Prognosis

Abstract:Background: Hilar cholangiocarcinoma (HCCA) is a common malignant tumor of the biliary system. Factors such as limited physical function, intractability, and high mortality caused by the tumor lead to negative emotions, such as anxiety and depression in patients. In this study, we investigated the risk factors for negative emotions in patients undergoing radical resection of HCCA during the perioperative period and its effect on prognosis to provide strategies for alleviating the negative emotional disorders of patients and improving prognosis. Methods: From September 2016 to August 2021, we retrospectively examined 205 patients with HCCA who underwent radical resection in our hospital. The incidence of negative emotions and the clinical parameters of patients were compared using Chi-square tests and t-tests. The independent risk factors for unfavorable feelings in patients during the perioperative period were determined using binary logistic regression. The key variables influencing the postoperative survival status of HCCA patients were identified using the log-rank univariate analysis and Cox proportional risk regression analysis. Results: The results of the binary logistic regression analysis showed that perioperative negative emotions were independently influenced by family monthly income (OR = 0.069), medical insurance (OR = 0.089), family care (OR = 0.013), sleep quality (OR = 0.071), TNF-α (OR = 5.851), and bile leakage (OR = 29.412) (P < 0.05). The age of the patient (OR = 2.003), preoperative CA19-9 (OR = 2.038), lymph node metastases (OR = 2.327), and negative mood (OR = 3.054) were independent risk variables that affected the survival status of patients, as determined by the results of Cox regression analysis (P < 0.05). Conclusion: In this study, we found that anxiety and depression in patients undergoing radical operation of HCCA are related to family monthly income, medical insurance, sleep quality, family care, TNF-α, and bile leakage; also, negative emotions have adverse effects on prognosis.

Abstract:Objective To explore the negative emotion and relative factors in-patients with stroke.Methods 180 stroke patients were investigated with Negative Emotion Scale(irritability,anxiety and depression IDA),Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI) and AHA Stroke Outcome Classification(AHA.SOC).Results Among the 180 stroke cases,there were statistic difference on gender,character,the type of stroke sleep quality and functional status(P0.05).By multiple regression analysis,the negative emotion is also associated with character,functional status and the PSQI scores.Conclusion The health-care professionals should attach great importance to the influence of the emotion disorder,and the multi-dimensional intervention was taken to improve negative mood in-patients and promote earlier recovery.

Abstract:Nurses exposed to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) are psychologically stressed. This study examines the characteristics and distribution of negative emotions among Chinese nurses during the COVID‐19 pandemic and explores regulatory emotional self‐efficacy (RESE) as the underlying mechanism in the relationship between nurses' personalities and negative emotions. A cross‐sectional design with convenience sampling was utilized. Three comprehensive tertiary hospitals located in China were selected. Nurses (n = 339) who cared for COVID‐19 patients were enrolled. Recruitment was conducted between 14 February 2020 and 1 March 2020. Self‐reported questionnaires about personality, RESE, and epidemic‐related negative emotions were completed online. A correlation analysis, structural equation modelling, and the bootstrapping method were used to analyse the data. This study identified a 24.9% incidence of negative emotions in nurses. RESE was a significant mediator explaining the effect of personality on epidemic‐related negative emotions. RESE mediated the effect of introversion–extroversion on depression (β = −0.151, P = 0.015), neuroticism (β = −0.182, P = 0.007), fear (β = −0.142, P = 0.006), anxiety (β = −0.189, P = 0.015), and hypochondria (β = −0.118, P = 0.010); it also mediated the effect of neuroticism on depression (β = 0.313, P = 0.002), neuroticism (β = 0.394, P = 0.003), fear (β = 0.345, P = 0.005), anxiety (β = 0.384, P = 0.003), and hypochondria (β = 0.259, P = 0.004). Nurses caring for COVID‐19 patients displayed negative emotions, particularly emotionally unstable and introverted nurses with a low RESE level. RESE is often essential for interventions because it significantly influences the relationship between personality and negative emotions. In the event of a major outbreak, tailored psychological well‐being education, which includes emotional self‐efficacy strategies, should be provided by organizations to help nurses manage stress related to the outbreak.

Abstract:Objective: To examine factors that are associated with the apprehension levels of oncology nurses toward hospice care. Factors examined in this study included demographics, nursing experience, education levels, title and post, personal experiences, and attitudes toward end-of-life care.Methods: Questionnaires were provided to nurses (n=201) from three first-tier hospitals in China. A quantitative scale, Professional End-of-life Care Attitude Scale (PEAS), was used to assess personal and professional apprehension levels toward hospice care. The PEAS was translated to Chinese with terms adapted to the cultural environment in China. Statistical analyses were performed to examine the relationships between the apprehension levels and various factors.Results: The total PEAS scores exhibited internal consistency and reliability, with a Cronbach alpha=0.897 and Pearson's r=0.9030. Of the 201 nurses, 184 provided a valid response (91.5%). Education level was significantly correlated with personal (P<0.01) and professional apprehension levels (P<0.05). Higher apprehension level was found in nurses with less education.Conclusion: The PEAS quantitative survey is useful for evaluating apprehension levels of nurses toward hospice care. Nurses with more education experienced less anxiety when providing care for terminally ill patients. The findings suggested that education programs on hospice care could be strengthened to help nurses cope with negative attitudes toward end-of-life care.

Abstract:Background: We explored clinical characteristics and risk factors for mortality in patients with mental disorders combined with severe pneumonia and developed predictive models. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of 161 patients with mental disorders combined with severe pneumonia in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a psychiatric hospital from May 2020 to February 2023, and divided them into two groups according to whether they died or not, and analyzed their basic characteristics, laboratory results and treatments, etc. We analyzed the risk factors of patients' deaths using logistics regression, established a prediction model, and drew a dynamic nomogram based on the results of the regression analysis. Based on the results of regression analysis, a prediction model was established and a dynamic nomogram was drawn. Results: The non-survivor group and the survivor group of patients with mental disorders combined with severe pneumonia were statistically different in terms of age, type of primary mental illness, whether or not they were intubated, whether or not they had been bedridden for a long period in the past, and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) scale, procalcitonin (PCT), albumin (ALB), hemoglobin (Hb), etc. Logistics regression analysis revealed the following: MoCA scale (OR = 0.932, 95% CI:0.872–0.997), age (OR = 1.077, 95%CI:1.029–1.128), PCT (OR = 1.078, 95% CI:10.006–10.155), ALB (OR = 0.971, 95%CI:0.893–1.056), Hb (OR = 0.971, 95% CI: 0.942–0.986) were statistically significant. The ROC curve showed that the model predicted patient death with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.827 with a sensitivity of 73.4% and a specificity of 80.4%. Conclusion: Low MoCA score, age, PCT, and low Hb are independent risk factors for death in patients with mental disorders with severe pneumonia, and the prediction model constructed using these factors showed good predictive efficacy.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Lung cancer is a clinical disease with multiple malignant tumors. Currently, it is difficult for patients to benefit from routine clinical nursing due to the lack of a pertinent and systematic approach.AIM: To investigate the effect of integrated nursing care on the negative emotions and satisfaction of lung cancer patients.METHODS: From January 2018 to December 2019, 92 patients with lung cancer were selected and divided into the study group and the control group; there were 46 patients in each group. The control group received routine nursing, and the study group received integrated medical care in addition to the care received by the control group. Negative emotions before and after the intervention, the self-management ability score after the intervention, family care burden after the intervention and nursing satisfaction after the intervention were measured in the two groups.RESULTS: After the intervention, the self-rating anxiety scale and self-rating depression scale scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05); the scores for health knowledge, self-concept, self-responsibility and self-care skills in the study group were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05); the scores for individual burden and responsibility burden in the study group were lower than those before the intervention (P < 0.05); and the nursing satisfaction in the study group (93.48%) was higher than that in the control group (78.26%, P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: An integrated nursing care approach for lung cancer patients can effectively relieve the patient's negative feelings, improve their self-management ability, help to reduce the burden of family care and improve patient satisfaction with nursing activities.

Abstract:Objective: Pneumonia is a common and serious infectious disease that affects the older adult population. Severe pneumonia can lead to high mortality and morbidity in this group. Therefore, it is important to identify the risk factors and develop a prediction model for severe pneumonia in older adult patients. Method: In this study, we collected data from 1,000 older adult patients who were diagnosed with pneumonia and admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) in a tertiary hospital. We used logistic regression and machine learning methods to analyze the risk factors and construct a prediction model for severe pneumonia in older adult patients. We evaluated the performance of the model using accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), and calibration plot. Result: We found that age, comorbidities, vital signs, laboratory tests, and radiological findings were associated with severe pneumonia in older adult patients. The prediction model had an accuracy of 0.85, a sensitivity of 0.80, a specificity of 0.88, and an AUC of 0.90. The calibration plot showed good agreement between the predicted and observed probabilities of severe pneumonia. Conclusion: The prediction model can help clinicians to stratify the risk of severe pneumonia in older adult patients and provide timely and appropriate interventions.

Abstract:Background: Pituitary adenoma (PA) is the third most common tumor in craniocerebral surgery. Most patients will experience varying degrees of negative emotions before and after surgery, which may affect the prognosis of surgery. This study analyzed the perioperative negative emotional risk factors of patients with different characteristics of PA and their impact on prognosis, so as to provide a reference for improving the prognosis of patients with PA.Methods: A total of 234 patients who underwent PA surgery in the Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University from January 2017 to January 2022 were selected as the observation population. The general characteristics of the subjects were collated using a general information questionnaire designed by the researchers. The negative emotions of the patients were evaluated using a Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and a Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS). The prognosis of patients was determined by assessing the hypophyseal hormone levels. Multiple regression analysis and logistic regression were used to analyze the risk factors of perioperative negative emotions and the effects of negative emotions on patient prognosis.Results: Multiple regression analysis showed that with and without children, education, income, PA type, PA size, and surgical approach were independent factors influencing negative emotions in patients after PA surgery (P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that negative emotion was an independent prognostic factor (P<0.05).Conclusions: There are many factors that affect the anxiety and depression of patients after PA surgery. The family members and medical staff of the patients should take effective measures to relieve the anxiety and depression of the patients so as to improve the prognosis of patients according to the influencing factors.

Abstract:The long-lasting global pandemic of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has changed our daily life in many ways and put heavy burden on our mental health. Having a predictive model of negative emotions during COVID-19 is of great importance for identifying potential risky population. To establish a neural predictive model achieving both good interpretability and predictivity, we have utilized a large-scale (n = 542) longitudinal dataset, alongside two independent samples for external validation. We built a predictive model based on psychologically meaningful resting state neural activities. The whole-brain resting-state neural activity and social-psychological profile of the subjects were obtained from Sept. to Dec. 2019 (Time 1). Their negative emotions were tracked and re-assessed twice, on Feb 22 (Time 2) and Apr 24 (Time 3), 2020, respectively. We first applied canonical correlation analysis on both the neural profiles and psychological profiles collected on Time 1, this step selects only the psychological meaningful neural patterns for later model construction. We then trained the neural predictive model using those identified features on data obtained on Time 2. It achieved a good prediction performance (r = 0.44, p = 8.13 x 10(-27)). The two most important neural predictors are associated with self-control and social interaction. This study established an effective neural prediction model of negative emotions, achieving good interpretability and predictivity. It will be useful for identifying potential risky population of emotional disorders related to COVID-19.
The relationship between post-traumatic stress and negative emotions in patients with breast cancer: the mediating role of emotion regulation

Abstract:Negative emotions can adversely affect the treatment and recovery of breast cancer patients. Post-traumatic stress caused by cancer can increase the negative emotions of patients. This study assessed the relationship between post-traumatic stress and emotional regulation strategies, and the role of emotional regulation in the relationship between post-traumatic stress and negative emotions in breast cancer patients.Cross-sectional questionnaire with sample of 214 Chinese women with breast cancerParticipants completed the Impact of Event Scale-Revised, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire. Correlation and mediation analyses were conducted to assess associations among the scores of these scales.Patients with low post-traumatic stress chose cognitive reappraisal strategies, while those with high post-traumatic stress chose expressive suppression strategies. Cognitive reappraisal had a significant negative predictive effect on negative emotions, while expressive suppression had a significant positive predictive effect on patient's negative emotions.Cognitive reappraisal may reduce the impact of post-traumatic stress on negative emotions experienced by breast cancer patients. Implications for psychosocial providers or policy: Psychosocial workers in China should conduct cognitive reappraisal training for breast cancer patients with high negative emotions and severe post-traumatic stress. For Chinese breast cancer patients living in other regions, the local oncology social workers should take into account their cultural background and lack of expression, and encourage them to choose cognitive reappraisal strategies.

Abstract:Breast cancer (BC) is one of the common malignant tumors in women and affects 1.6 million new cases globally each year. Investigators have recently found that negative emotions (NEs) and their impacts have greatly influenced the incidence and risk of BC. The present study aims to provide an association between NEs and the incidence of BC with possible risk factors. A total of 9343 studies were screened; nine studies met all inclusion criteria that were considered for the meta-analysis. The qualitative studies were measured by the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale; the observational studies were included with relative risks (RR) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI). Besides the NEs and BC, the possible risk factors were evaluated. We analyzed data from 129,621 women diagnosed with NEs of which 2080 women were diagnosed with BC and their follow-up year ranges were from 4–24 years. NEs were significantly (p < 0.0001) associated with a higher incidence of BC with RR = 1.59, 95% CI:1.15–2.19, with other high-risk factors including, geographical distribution, emotion types, standard diagnosis of NEs, and follow-up duration. This study suggests that NEs significantly increase the risk for the incidence of BC, which can be supportive of the prognosis of the disease.

Abstract:Background Pneumonia is a common acute respiratory infection that contributes to significant mortality and morbidity worldwide. The disruption of the airway microbiome in respiratory infection has been extensively reported. However, whether the changes in respiratory tract microbial communities during pneumonia were related to disease severity remains elusive. Herein, we aimed to investigate the correlation between the changes in airway microbiome and immune response in pneumonia patients. Methods We performed metagenomic and metatranscriptomic sequencing on immunocompetent (ICO) and immunocompromised host (ICH) with pneumonia using bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), blood, sputum, and swab samples. Results Compared to ICO patients with pneumonia, ICH patients had higher Pneumonia Severity Index (PSI) score. BALF metagenomic and metatranscriptomic sequencing showed higher microbial diversity in ICH patients, while ICH patients exhibited lower microbial diversity in sputum samples. Additionally, pneumonia patients with different PSI scores exhibited different microbial communities. Relative abundance of Human Gammaherpesvirus 4 (EBV) was positively correlated with PSI score. For ICH patients, BALF metatranscriptomic sequencing found 183 up-regulated genes and 85 down-regulated genes in EBV-detected group compared with EBV not-detected group, while there was no significant difference in ICO patients, indicating that EBV might be reactivated in ICH patients, while EBV might be latent in ICO patients. In ICH patients, we observed significant down-regulation of immune related genes and interferon stimulated genes in EBV-detected group compared to the not-detected group, including CSF1R, CXCR6, IL10, IL16, and TNFRSF25. Co-occurrence network analysis found positive correlations between EBV and Citrobacter freundii or Campylobacter concisus, indicating that synergistic effects on exacerbating the severity of pneumonia might exist between EBV and these two microbes. Conclusion EBV might be considered as a microbial signature for disease severity, which could regulate immune-related signaling pathways. Notably, we unravel that EBV presence might inhibit the immune response of hosts, reduce anti-inflammatory responses, and increase the possibilities of infections caused by other pathogens, exacerbating the pneumonia severity.

Abstract:Nowadays, many big cities are suffering from heavy air pollution and continuous haze weather. Compared with the threat on physical health, the influence of haze on people’s mental health is much less discussed in the current literature. Emotion is one of the most important indicators of mental health. To understand the negative impact of haze weather on the emotion of the people, we conducted an investigation based on historical weather records and microblog data in Tianjin, China. Specifically, an emotional thesaurus was generated with a microblog corpus collected from sample data. Based on the thesaurus, the public emotion under haze was statistically described. Then, through correlation analysis and comparative study, the relation and seasonal variation of haze and negative emotion of the public were well discussed. According to the study results, there was indeed a correlation between haze and negative emotion of the public, but the strength of this relationship varied under different conditions. The level of air pollution and weather context were both important factors that influence the mental effects of haze, and diverse patterns of negative emotion expression were demonstrated in different seasons of a year. Finally, for the benefit of people’s mental health under haze, recommendations were given for haze control from the side of government.

Abstract:Nursing students, who comprise a high percentage of China's college students, experience many psychological problems; however, few studies explored the mechanisms underlying these problems. This cross-sectional study explored the relationships and mechanisms of depression, anxiety, stress, and narrative disorders in senior nursing students. Questionnaires were administered to 380 senior nursing students in Hubei Province using the Sociodemographic Questionnaire, Toronto Alexithymia-20 Scale, Perceived Social Support Scale, 10-Item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scale. After controlling for sociodemographic variables, Hayes' PROCESS macros were used to test how psychological resilience moderates the relationships among narrative disorders, negative affect, and perceived social support. Bootstrap confidence intervals tested for indirect effects. Correlation analyses revealed that alexithymia was correlated significantly positively with depression-anxiety-stress ( r = 0.57, 0.56, and 0.58, resp.) and significantly negatively with perceived social support ( r = 0-0.46). Psychological resilience was correlated significantly negatively with alexithymia ( r =-0.39) and depression-anxiety-stress ( r =-0.31, -0.30, and-0.32, resp.) but significantly positively with perceived social support( r = 0.50). Perceived social support was correlated significantly negatively with depression-anxiety-stress ( r =-0.33, -0.34, and − 0.42 resp.). Stress was correlated significantly positively with anxiety and depression ( r = 0.81 and 0.77, resp.). Psychological resilience was a partial mediator between depression and dysphoria (β=-0.08, p < 0.05). Dysphoria directly predicted anxiety (β = 0.31) and stress (β = 0.37); moreover,alexithymia predicted depression not only directly but also through the mediating effect of psychological resilience. Therefore, educators and clinical administrators must promote and recognise negative emotions among nursing students to help ensure the nursing workforce's stability.

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the current status of psychological resilience, insomnia and negative emotions among nurses in Guangdong Province, China. And to explore the effects of the interaction between psychological resilience and insomnia on negative emotions. Methods: A cross-sectional survey method was used to select 1874 nurses in Guangdong Province from February 2023 to April 2023 for the survey. The Chinese version of the Psychological Resilience Scale (PRS), Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale-21(DASS-21)were used in this study. We use SPSS 26.0 for statistical analysis. A simple effect analysis was established to analyze the association between psychological resilience, insomnia and negative emotions by using psychological resilience, insomnia and the interaction term. Results: The overall PRS and ISI scores were (59.79 ± 17.29) and (9.83 ± 5.97). The scores of DASS-21 each dimension were (8.19 ± 9.02) for depression emotion,(7.93 ± 7.66) for anxiety emotion and (10.58 ± 9.77) for stress emotion. The results of the interaction effect analysis indicated that psychological resilience and insomnia exhibited statistically significant differences in the between-subjects effect test for depression emotion (r2 = 0.136, P<0.01), anxiety emotion (r2 = 0.127, P<0.01), and stress emotion (r2 = 0.142, P<0.01). Conclusion: The nurses exhibited moderate levels of psychological resilience. Most of them have varying degrees of insomnia, with majority being classified as mild insomnia. Additionally, they demonstrated varying degrees of negative emotions. There was a negative correlation between psychological resilience and insomnia. Psychological resilience was negatively correlated with depression, anxiety and stress emotions. Insomnia was positively correlated with depression, anxiety and stress emotions. Furthermore, the interaction between psychological resilience and insomnia had an effect on all three dimensions of negative emotions. Consequently, hospital administrators may implement efficacious intervention strategies such as cognitive behavioral therapy and improving workplace climate in a timely manner according to the different psychological tolerance and severity of insomnia of nurses in order to reduce the occurrence of negative emotions among nurses and improve their mental health.
