Abstract:Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) is one of the regions most affected by climate change and health problems caused by atmospheric pollution are becoming increasingly serious. Based on the daily data of OMI/AURA UVAI from 2010 to 2021, this study derived the spatial and temporal distribution patterns of UVAI levels in SSA over a long time series. By using big data, slope, and GTWR analysis methods, the influencing factors are explored and discussed. Studies have shown the following: (1) year-to-year UVAI levels values in SSA are high in the north and low in the south. The average annual variation of UVAI displayed a wave-like structure with a gradually increasing minimum over time. (2) The monthly UVAI column volume pattern in the study area is distinct, with a peak in June and an inverted "V" shape. (3) The correlations of each variable with UVAI levels in the study area are negative for NDVI> precipitation> water content> 10m wind speed, positive for correlation on u -directional wind> v -directional wind> air temperature, and almost independent for barometric pressure. (4) During the study, the dynamic UVAI change pattern in SSA has shown a substantial drop in the north, and a significant increase in the south. Finally, the authors concluded that air pollution in the region is closely related to climate change; moreover, the strengthening of composite studies in regard of air pollution and climate change will be the main work to be conducted in the future.
