Abstract:Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, Volume 12, Issue 11_suppl4, November 2024. Objectives:Various techniques have been developed to manage bone defects in revision knee arthroplasties, including bone grafts, which can be sourced from living or deceased donors as fresh-frozen or freeze-dried bone allografts, typically from bone banks. Human Multi-tissue Banks (HMTB) are crucial health institutions specializing in the procurement, processing, and distribution of human tissues for transplantation and research. They aim to ensure safety and quality in providing tissues for reconstructive surgeries and injury repair, while also advancing research in regenerative medicine. This study reports on the experience of implementing an HMTB and developing its own Quality Management System. Methods:This descriptive, experience report study identifies the historical actions of the HMTB over five years of implementing and operating the bone bank service. Results:The establishment of an HMTB with modern infrastructure and technological advancements, alongside the development and implementation of a quality management system, enabled excellent organization of work processes and the acquisition of the necessary health license to initiate activities. Conclusion:This report serves as a valuable source of information and provides recommendations applicable to the implementation of other human HMTBs.
