Then, via the Ekeland variational principle, existence of nonnegative solutions is investigated when f is sublinear at infinity and λ is small enough. More intriguingly, the paper covers a novel feature of Kirchhoff problems, which is the fact that the parameter a can be zero. Hence the results of the paper are new even for the standard stationary Kirchhoff problems.

Abstract:We consider the following nonlinear elliptic equations −Δu+u+λφ(x)|u|r−2u=|u|p−1u,x∈Ω,−Δφ(x)=|u|q,x∈Ω,φ(x)=u(x)=0 for x∈∂Ω,(P) where p,q,r>1 , λ is a parameter and Ω⊂R3 is a bounded domain. For q=r=2 , the equations reduce to the Schrödinger-Poisson equations. Without the need of imposing constraint that q must be equal to r , we establish a priori estimates, the nonexistence and existence of solutions for problem (P). Our results extend previous work for the case q=r to more general case.

Abstract:In this paper, by variational methods, we study the existence and nonexistence of positive solutions for a class of generalized quasilinear Schrödinger equations involving a Kirchhoff-type perturbation with critical Sobolev exponent. In particular, the first result is based on the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. Moreover, the second results are established via the Pohožaev identity. Finally, the last results are not based on the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition and we use generalized conditions to prove the results.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence of positive solutions of an equation with p -Laplacian where n ≥ 3, 1 < p < n , q > 0, Δ p u = div(|∇ u | p −2 ∇ u ), and K ( x ) is a double bounded function. We will prove the following results. When 0 < q < p − 1, the equation has no solution satisfying inf R n u = 0 for any double bounded function K ( x ). When q = p − 1, the equation has a positive radial singular solution for K ( x ) ≡ Const. . In addition, q = p − 1 is a necessary condition such that this equation (with K ( x ) ≡ 1) has finite energy solutions. In addition, the existence of positive solutions are also derived for the system where u , v > 0 in R n \ {0}, n ≥ 3, 1 < p 1 , p 2 < n , q 1 , q 2 > 0, and K 1 ( x ), K 2 ( x ) are double bounded functions.

The operator $\Delta_{H,p}$ is the reversible Finsler p-Laplacian operator with the function $H$ being the Minkowski norm on $\;R^N$. Under certain conditions on $V$, we establish the existence of a non-trivial non-negative bounded ground state solution of the above equation.

Where 2 ∗ = + ∞ for N = 2 , and 2 ∗ = N + 2 N − 2 for N ≥ 3 . Under suitable conditions of h ( x , u , ∇ u ) (see ( A ) , ( H 1 ) and ( H 2 ) in Section 3), we get a priori estimates for positive solutions to problem (0.1). By making use of these estimates and the continuous method, we further get some existence results for positive solutions to problem (0.1) when 0 < p < 1 , or 2 α + 1 < p < 2 ∗ . Effects of the term a + b ‖∇u‖ 2 2 α on the solution set of problem (0.1) can be seen in an example given in Section 2.

Precisely, we study the Kirchhoff-type problem where a , b > 0 , ( - őĒ ) p s is the fractional p -Laplacian with 0 < s < 1 < p < N s , V : ‚ĄĚ N ‚Üí ‚ĄĚ and f : ‚ĄĚ N √ó ‚ĄĚ ‚Üí ‚ĄĚ are continuous functions while V can have negative values and f fulfills suitable growth assumptions. According to the interaction between the attenuation of the potential at infinity and the behavior of the nonlinear term at the origin, using a penalization argument along with L ‚ąě -estimates and variational methods, we prove the existence of a positive solution. In addition, we also establish the existence of infinitely many solutions provided the nonlinear term is odd.

First, using reduction argument, truncation technique, Ekeland’s variational principle, and the Mountain Pass theorem, we obtain that the above system admits at least two solutions with different energy for λ large enough and ε fixed. Finally, we research the asymptotic behavior of solutions with respect to the parameters ε .

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with the existence of solutions to the N-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation −ε2Δu+V(x)u=K(x)up with u(x)>0, u∈H1(RN), N⩾3 and 1<p<N+2N−2. When the potential V(x) decays at infinity faster than (1+|x|)−2 and K(x)⩾0 is permitted to be unbounded, we will show that the positive H1(RN)-solutions exist if it is assumed that G(x) has local minimum points for small ε>0, here G(x)=Vθ(x)K−2p−1(x) with θ=p+1p−1−N2 denotes the ground energy function which is introduced in [X. Wang, B. Zeng, On concentration of positive bound states of nonlinear Schrödinger equations with competing potential functions, SIAM J. Math. Anal. 28 (1997) 633–655]. In addition, when the potential V(x) decays to zero at most like (1+|x|)−α with 0<α⩽2, we also discuss the existence of positive H1(RN)-solutions for unbounded K(x). Wang, Nonlinear Schrödinger equations with vanishing and decaying potentials, Differential Integral Equations 18 (2005) 1321–1332] and so on, we remove the restrictions on the potential function V(x) which decays at infinity like (1+|x|)−α with 0<α⩽2 as well as the restrictions on the boundedness of K(x)>0. Therefore, we partly answer a question posed in the reference [A. Ambrosetti, A. Malchiodi, Concentration phenomena for NLS: Recent results and new perspectives, preprint, 2006].
