Abstract:For k given graphs G 1 , G 2 , … , G k , k ≥ 2 , the k -color Ramsey number, denoted by R ( G 1 , G 2 , … , G k ) , is the smallest integer N such that if we arbitrarily color the edges of a complete graph of order N with k colors, then it always contains a monochromatic copy of G i colored with i , for some 1 ≤ i ≤ k . Let C m be a cycle of length m and K 1 , n a star of order n + 1 . In this paper, firstly we give a general upper bound of R ( C 4 , C 4 , … , C 4 , K 1 , n ) . In particular, for the 3-color case, we have R ( C 4 , C 4 , K 1 , n ) ≤ n + 4 n + 5 + 3 and this bound is tight in some sense. Furthermore, we prove that R ( C 4 , C 4 , K 1 , n ) ≤ n + 4 n + 5 + 2 for all n = ℓ 2 − ℓ and ℓ ≥ 2 , and if ℓ is a prime power, then the equality holds.

Abstract:For given graphs G_1, G_2, … , G_k , k≥ 2 , the k -color Ramsey number, denoted by R(G_1, G_2, … , G_k) , is the smallest integer N such that if we arbitrarily color the edges of a complete graph of order N with k colors, then it always contains a monochromatic copy of G_i in color i , for some 1 ≤ i ≤ k . Let C_m be a cycle of length m and W_n a wheel of order n+1 . In this paper, we show that R(C_4, C_4, W_ n)≤ n+⌈√(4n+5)⌉ +3 for n=42, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52 or n≥ 56 . Furthermore, we prove that R(C_4, C_4, W_ℓ ^2-ℓ)≤ℓ ^2+ℓ +2 for ℓ≥ 9 , and if ℓ is a prime power, then the equality holds.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove that the multicolored Ramsey number $R(G_1,\dots,G_n,K_{n_1},\dots,K_{n_r})$ is at least $(\gamma-1)(\kappa-1)+1$ for arbitrary connected graphs $G_1,\dots,G_n$ and $n_1,\dots,n_r\in\mathbb{N}$, where $\gamma=R(G_1,\dots,G_n)$ and $\kappa=R(K_{n_1},\dots,K_{n_r})$. Erd\H os at al. conjectured that $R(C_n,K_l)=(n-1)(l-1)+1$ for every $n\geq l\geq 3$ except for $n=l=3$. Nikiforov proved this conjecture for $n\geq 4l+2$. Using the above bound, we derive the following generalization of this result. $R(C_n,K_{n_1},\dots,K_{n_r})=(n-1)(\kappa-1)+1$, where $\kappa=R(K_{n_1},\dots,K_{n_r})$ and $n\geq 4\kappa+2$.

Abstract:For two given graphs G1 and G2, the Ramsey number R(G1,G2) is the smallest integer n such that for any graph G of order n, either G contains G1 or the complement of G contains G2. Let Cm denote a cycle of length m and Kn a complete graph of order n. It was conjectured that R(Cm,Kn)=(m-1)(n-1)+1 for m⩾n⩾3 and (m,n)≠(3,3). We show that R(C6,K7)=31 and R(C7,K7)=37, and the latter result confirms the conjecture in the case when m=n=7.

Abstract:Let $R(C_n)$ be the Ramsey number of the cycle on $n$ vertices. We prove that, for some $C > 0$, with high probability every $2$-colouring of the edges of $G(N,p)$ has a monochromatic copy of $C_n$, as long as $N\geq R(C_n) + C/p$ and $p \geq C/n$. This is sharp up to the value of $C$ and it improves results of Letzter and of Krivelevich, Kronenberg and Mond.

Abstract:For given graphs H1,...,Hk, k≥2, the k-color Ramsey number R(H1,...,Hk) is the smallest integer N such that every k-coloring of the edges of a complete graph KN contains a monochromatic copy of Hi colored in i, for some i with 1≤i≤k. Let Cℓ,K1,m and Pn denote a cycle of length ℓ, a star of order m+1 and a path of order n, respectively. In this paper, it is shown that R(C4,K1,m,Pn)≤m+n−1+⌈m+n−2⌉ for all m,n≥2 and R(C4,K1,m,Pn)≤m+n−2+⌈m+n−2⌉ if m+n=ℓ2+3 and ℓ≥1. Moreover, by discussing the local structure of the polarity graph whose vertices are points in the projective plane over Galois fields, we show that the two upper bounds can be attained for some special m and n. These results also extend some known results on R(C4,K1,m) obtained by Parsons in 1975 and by Zhang et al. recently.

In this paper we show that R(Cm,K7)=6m−5 for m≥7 and R(C7,K8)=43, with the former result confirming a conjecture due to Erdös, Faudree, Rousseau and Schelp that R(Cm,Kn)=(m−1)(n−1)+1 for m≥n≥3 and (m,n)≠(3,3) in the case where n=7.

Abstract:Given two graphs G(1) and G(2), the Ramsey number R(G(1), G(2)) is the smallest integer N such that, for any graph G of order N, either G(1) is a subgraph of G, or G(2) is a subgraph of the complement of G. Let C-m denote a cycle of order m, K-1,K- n a star of order n + 1 and W-n a wheel of order n + 1. Already back in the 1970s, exact values of the Ramsey numbers R(C-m, K-1,K- n) have been determined for all m >= 2n and for all odd m <= 2n - 1, but for even m < 2n not many exact values are known. In this paper, we use a result of Bondy on pancyclicity to fill a considerable part of this gap. We show that R(C-m, K-1,K- n) = 2n for even m with n < m < 2n, and that R(C-m, K-1,K- n) = 2m - 1 for even m with 3n/4 + 1 <= m <= n. In addition, we determine another six formerly unknown exact values of Ramsey numbers, namely R(C-6, K-1,K- n) for 7 <= n <= 11, and R(C-6, W-9).

Abstract:For given simple graphs H1,H2,…,Hc,the multicolor Ramsey number R(H1,H2,...,Hc)is defined as the smallest positive integer n such that for an arbitrary edge-decomposition{Gi}ci=1 of the complete graph Kn,at least one Gi has a subgraph isomorphic to Hi.Let m,n1,n2,...,nc be positive integers and Σ=Σci=1(ni-1).Some bounds and exact values of R(K1,n1,...,K1,nc,Pm)have been obtained in literature.Wang(Graphs Combin.,2020)conjec-tured that if Σ(≠)0(mod m-1)and Σ+1 ≥(m-3)2,then R(K1,n1,...,K1,nc,Pm)=Σ+m-1.In this note,we give a new lower bound and some exact values of R(K1,n1,...,K1,nc,Pm)pro-vided m ≤ Σ,Σ ≡ k(mod m-1),and 2 ≤ k ≤ m-2.These results partially confirm Wang's conjecture.

Abstract:For graphs $G$ and $H$, the Ramsey number $R(G,H)$ is the minimum integer $N$ such that any red/blue edge coloring of $K_N$ contains either a red $G$ or a blue $H$. Let $\chi(G)$ be the chromatic number of $G$, and $s(G)$ the minimum size of a color class over all proper vertex colorings of $G$ with $\chi(G)$ colors. A connected graph $H$ is called $G$-{\em good} if $R(G,H)= (\chi(G)-1)(|H|-1)+s(G)$. For graphs $G$ and $H$, it is shown $K_p+nH$ is $(K_2+G)$-{\em good}, where $n$ is double-exponential in terms of $p,|G|,|H|$, and $K_p+nH$ is $C_{2m+1}$-{\em good} for $n\ge (100q)^{8q^3}$, where $q=\max\{m,p,|H|\}$. Both proofs are short that avoids using the regularity method.

Abstract:Let ex(n, C_≤ m) denote the maximum size of a graph of order n and girth at least m+1 , and EX(n, C_≤ m) be the set of all graphs of girth at least m+1 and size ex(n, C_≤ m) . The Ramsey number R_l(C_≤ m) is the smallest n such that every K_n , whose edges are in l colors, must contain a monochromatic cycle of length k for some 3≤ k≤ m . In this paper, we study the exact values of R_l(C_≤ l+1) . By using the known results of ex(n, C_≤ l+1) , we first give the upper bounds on R_l(C_≤ l+1) , then we prove that R_l(C_≤ l+1)=2l+3 for odd l≥ 3 . For even l , we prove that R_4(C_≤ 5)=12 , R_6(C_≤ 7)=16 , and R_l(C_≤ l+1)=2l+3 for 8≤ l≤ 12 , leaving the case of l≥ 14 open.

These results partially confirm Wang's conjecture.

Abstract:A new area of Graph theory emerged in the last few decades is the calculation of Star critical Ramsey numbers related to different classes of graphs. Formally, we will say that Kn → (G,H) if given any coloring of Kn there is a copy of G in the first color, red, or a copy of H in the second color, blue. The Ramsey number r(G,H) is defined as the smallest positive integer n such that Kn → (G,H). A closely related concept of Ramsey number is the Star critical Ramsey number r∗(G,H) defined as the largest value of k such that Kr(G,H)−1 ⊔ K1,k → (G,H). A two-coloring of Kr(G,H)−1 such that Kr(G,H)−1 ̸→ (G,H) is called a Ramsey critical coloring. A Ramsey critical r(G,H) graph is a graph induced by the first color of a Ramsey critical coloring. Lower bounds for Star critical Ramsey numbers are usually found with the aid on Ramsey critical graphs. The particular problem we handle in this paper, on Star critical Ramsey numbers, is based on a conjecture posed in 1973 by Bondy and Erdos relating to Ramsey numbers for large cycles versus complete graphs. Based on certain lemmas we present with proof, furthermore we show that there exist exactly sixty eight non-isomorphic Ramsey critical r(Cn,K6) graphs, when n ≥ 15

Abstract:Let $$ex(n, C_{\le m})$$ denote the maximum size of a graph of order n and girth at least $$m+1$$, and $$EX(n, C_{\le m})$$ be the set of all graphs of girth at least $$m+1$$ and size $$ex(n, C_{\le m})$$. The Ramsey number $$R_l(C_{\le m})$$ is the smallest n such that every $$K_n$$, whose edges are in l colors, must contain a monochromatic cycle of length k for some $$3\le k\le m$$. In this paper, we study the exact values of $$R_l(C_{\le l+1})$$. By using the known results of $$ex(n, C_{\le l+1})$$, we first give the upper bounds on $$R_l(C_{\le l+1})$$, then we prove that $$R_l(C_{\le l+1})=2l+3$$ for odd $$l\ge 3$$. For even l, we prove that $$R_4(C_{\le 5})=12$$, $$R_6(C_{\le 7})=16$$, and $$R_l(C_{\le l+1})=2l+3$$ for $$8\le l\le 12$$, leaving the case of $$l\ge 14$$ open.
